  I have a table like so: mysql> show create table foo; CREATE TABLE foo ( network bigint NOT NULL, activeDate datetime NULL default '0000-00-00 00:00:00', ... ) In the domain object, FooVO the activeDate member is annotated as Temporal. If I don't set activeDate to a valid Date instance, a new record is inserted with NULLs. I want the default value to take effect if I don't set the activeDate member. Thanks.

  I currently have a PHP form that uses AJAX to connect to MySQL and display records matching a user's selection (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2593317/ajax-display-mysql-data-with-value-from-multiple-select-boxes) As well as displaying the data, I also place an 'Edit' button next to each result which displays a form where the data can be edited. My problem is editing unique records since currently I only use the selected values for 'name' and 'age' to find the record. If two (or more) records share the same name and age, I am only able to edit the first result.

  Any ideas for an universal notification service like Adobe Wave? I need to send status updates (more specifically, things like document change notifications and the like). I could stick to RSS but then I will need either long URLs or HTTP authentications on feeds which not all the clients like. Adobe Wave looked promising but they are only desktop, in BETA, without active development, and seem a bit buggy sometimes. Any other ideas?

• iPhone App is leaking memory; Instruments and Clang cannot find the leak

  Hi, i've developed an iPhone program which is kind of an image manipulation program: The user get an UIImagePickerController and selects an image. Then the program does some heavy calculating in a new thread (for responsiveness of the application). The thread has, of course, its own autorelease pool. When calculation is done, the seperated thread signals the main thread that the result can be presented. The app creates a new view controller, pushes it onto the navigation controller. In short: UIImagePickerController new thread (autorelease pool) does some heavy calculation with image data signal to main thread that it's done main thread creates view controller and pushes it onto navigation controller view controller presents image result My program works well, but if I dismiss the navigation controller's top view controller by tapping on the back button and repeat the whole process several times, my app crashes. But only on the device! Instruments cannot find any leaks (except for some minor ones which I don't feel responsible for: thread creation, NSCFString; overall about 10 kB). Even Clang static analyzer tells me that my could seems to be all right. I know that the UIImage class can cache images and objects returned from convenience methods get freed only whet their autorelease pool gets drained. But most of the time I work with CGImageRef and I use UIImage' alloc, init & release methods to free memory as soon as possible. Currently, I don't know how to isolate the problem. How would you approach this problem? I can get the IVsTextView of the output window, like so: IVsTextView view = GetService(typeof(SVsOutputWindow)) as IVsTextView; // grab text from the view and process it However, if a different panel other than the "Debug" panel is currently active, then this IVsTextView will have text from that panel, and not the "Debug" panel. Is it possible to get an IVsTextView for a specific output window panel, without calling OutputWindowPanel.Activate() prior to getting the IVsTextView of the output window?

• Memory leak appears only when multiprocessing

  I am trying to use python's multiprocessing library to hopefully gain some performance. Specifically I am using its map function. Now, for some reason when I swap it out with its single threaded counterpart I don't get any memory leaks over time. But using the multiprocessing version of map causes my memory to go through the roof. For the record I am doing something which can easily hog up loads of memory, but what would the difference be between the two to cause such a stark difference?

  According to their documentation, you should use Array hydration rather than record hydration when retrieving data for read-only purposes. However, this means I have to access the attributes of the retrieved object using arrays and string keys: $user['Phonenumbers'][0]['number'] instead of the OO style: $user->PhoneNumbers[0]->number Now I'm kinda new to PHP, but in other languages I've worked with the 2nd notation would be preferable because typos would be caught at compile time while typos in string literals would not be noticed until runtime. Does this apply to PHP/Doctrine?
