  • How can I bind a instance of a custom class to a WPF TreeListView without bugs?

    - by user327104
    First, from : http://blogs.msdn.com/atc_avalon_team/archive/2006/03/01/541206.aspx I get a nice TreeListView. I left the original classes (TreeListView, TreeListItemView, and LevelToIndentConverter) intact, the only code y have Added is on the XAML, here is it: <Style TargetType="{x:Type l:TreeListViewItem}"> .... </ControlTemplate.Triggers> <ControlTemplate.Resources> <HierarchicalDataTemplate DataType="{x:Type local:FileInfo}" ItemsSource="{Binding Childs}"> </HierarchicalDataTemplate> </ControlTemplate.Resources> </ControlTemplate> ... here is my custom class public class FileInfo { private List<FileInfo> childs; public FileInfo() { childs = new List<FileInfo>(); } public bool IsExpanded { get; set; } public bool IsSelected { get; set; } public List<FileInfo> Childs { get { return childs; } set { } } public string FileName { get; set; } public string Size { get; set; } } And before I use my custom class I remove all the items inside the treeListView1: <l:TreeListView> <l:TreeListView.Columns> <GridViewColumn Header="Name" CellTemplate="{StaticResource CellTemplate_Name}" /> <GridViewColumn Header="IsAbstract" DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding IsAbstract}" Width="60" /> <GridViewColumn Header="Namespace" DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Namespace}" /> </l:TreeListView.Columns> </l:TreeListView> So finaly I add this code to bind a Instance of my class to the TreeListView: private void Window_Loaded(object sender,RoutedEventArgs e) { FileInfo root = new FileInfo() { FileName = "mis hojos", Size="asdf" }; root.Childs.Add(new FileInfo(){FileName="sub", Size="123456" }); treeListView1.Items.Add(root); root.Childs[0].Childs.Add(new FileInfo() { FileName = "asdf" }); root.Childs[0].IsExpanded = true; } So the bug is that the button to expand the elementes dont appear and when a node is expanded by doble click the child nodes dont look like child nodes.   • Share a "deep link" from a Windows 8/WinRT application

    - by Dave Parker
    I have searched using many different terms and phrases, and waded through many pages of results, but I have (remarkably) not seen anyone else addressing, even asking, about, this issue. So here goes... Ultimate Goal: Allow a user viewing a content-based page (may contain both text and images) within a Windows Store app to share that content with someone else. Description I am working on taking a fair amount of content and making it available for browsing/navigating as a Windows 8/WinRT/Windows Store (we need a consistent name here) application. One of the desired features is to take advantage of the Share Charm, such that someone viewing a page could share that page with someone else. The ideal behavior is for the application to implement the Share Source contract which would share an email message that contained some explanatory text, a link to get the app from the Windows Store, and a "deep link" into the shared page in the application. Solutions Considered We had originally looked at just generating a PDF representation of the page, but there are very few external libraries that would work under WinRT, and having to include externally licensed code would be problematic as well. Writing our own PDF generation code would out of scope. We have also considered generating a Word document or PowerPoint slide using OpenXML, but again, we run up against the limitaions of WinRT. In this case, it is highly unlikely the OpenXML SDK is useable in a WinRT application. Another thought was to pre-generate all of the pages as .pdf files, store them as resources, and when the Share Charm is invoked, share the .pdf file associated with the current page. The problem here is the application will have at least 150 content pages, and depending on how we break the content down, up to over 600. This would likely cause serious bloat. Where We Are At Thus we have come to sharing URIs. From what I can tell, though, the "deep linking" feature is only intended for use on Secondary Tiles tied to your application. Another avenue I considered was registering a protocol like, "my-special-app:" with the OS and having it fire up the application but that would require HKCR registry access, which is outside the WinRT sandbox. If it matters, we are leaning towards an HTML/JS application, rather than XAML/C#, because the converted content will all be in HTML and the WebView control in WinRT is fairly limited. This decision is not yet final, though. Conclusion So, is this possible, and if so, how would it be done or where can I find documentation on it? Thanks, Dave Parker

  • Can you help me optimize this code for finding factors of a number? I'm brushing up on my math progr

    - by Sergio Tapia
    I've never really bothered with math programming, but today I've decided to give it a shot. Here's my code and it's working as intended: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.Windows; using System.Windows.Controls; using System.Windows.Data; using System.Windows.Documents; using System.Windows.Input; using System.Windows.Media; using System.Windows.Media.Imaging; using System.Windows.Navigation; using System.Windows.Shapes; namespace PrimeFactorization { /// <summary> /// Interaction logic for MainWindow.xaml /// </summary> public partial class MainWindow : Window { public MainWindow() { InitializeComponent(); } private void btnSubmit_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { List<int> primeFactors = FindPrimeFactors(Convert.ToInt32(txtNumber.Text)); primeFactors.Sort(); for (int i = 0; i < primeFactors.Count; i++) { listBoxFoundNumbers.Items.Add(primeFactors[i]); } } private List<int> FindPrimeFactors(int number) { List<int> factors = new List<int>(); factors.Add(1); factors.Add(number); for (int i = 2; i < number; i++) { if (number % i == 0) { int holder = number / i; //If the number is in the list, don't add it again. if (!factors.Contains(i)) { factors.Add(i); } //If the number is in the list, don't add it again. if (!factors.Contains(holder)) { factors.Add(holder); } } } return factors; } } } The only problem I can see with my code is that it will iterate through to the bitter end, even though there will definitely not be any factors. For example, imagine I wrote in 35. My loop will go up to 35 and check 24,25,26,27...etc. Not very good. What do you recommend?

  • Silverlight? WPF? or Windows Form?

    - by Amit
    After Silverlight 4.0 has been released with new WPF, I am kind of confused with these technologies: Silverlight? WPF? Windows Form? The main motive that we want to achieve for BIG business project is following: Performance Security And platform independent** If I consider all above three points then only Silverlight is the option as I don’t want people buying emulator on MacOS for WPF or Windows Form. Now how good the Silverlight is for Business applications, I was completely against when Silverlight 2.0 was in the market but now it is Silverlight 4.0 and they have provided many new features (but still basics) that is required in any challenging business applications. Comparing Silverlight and WPF -* Silverlight and WPF are very new technology and if I'd to compare from these two then I'd prefer WPF because it can be considered stable and mature. But it is not same as Windows Form. -* If I go with Silverlight then I am sure about keep updating to the latest version of Silverlight. I remembered when we were developing software for version 2.0 then we'd to create our own framework with dynamic loading DLL, and then Navigation concept. But everything was got changed once Silverlight 3.0 came. I don't want this to be happening with this new product. -* If we go with WPF then we don't get the platform independence. Now, why not we just focus on making WPF and then move to Silverlght. As someone (Tim?) from Microsoft has said that the idea is to make Silverlight as close as WPF. But if that is the case then why XAML structure is different; I will not be convinced with by saying that .Net framework for SL is too small.. well the difference is coming from the namespace ? I was searching on this subject and found "Microsoft WPF-Silverlight Comparison Whitepaper v1.1.pdf". This guide is very good that gives you ins-outs about how can we build common apps that runs on both. But again, it is comparing Silverlight 2 and not 4. I am sure many architect/ developers/ project managers must be facing similar kind of questions in their premises and wants to initiate this discussion, if it has not been :). We've still got 2 weeks to make this decision, so I'm expecting everyone to participate, gurus?

  • How to implement code for multiple buttons using c++ in Silverlight for Windows Embedded

    - by Abhi
    Dear all I have referred the following link: Silverlight for Windows Embedded By referring this link i created a demo application which consist of two buttons created using Microsoft expression blend 2 tools. And then written a code referring the above site. Now my button names are "Browser Button" and "Media Button". On click of any one of the button i should able to launch the respective application. I was able to do for "Browser Button" but not for "Media Button" and if i do for "Media Button" then i am not able to do for "Browser Button".. I mean to say that how should i create event handler for both the buttons. This is the code in c++ which i should modify class BtnEventHandler { public: HRESULT OnClick(IXRDependencyObject* source,XRMouseButtonEventArgs* args) { RETAILMSG(1,(L"Browser event")); Execute(L"\\Windows\\iesample.exe",L""); return S_OK; } }; // entry point for the application. INT WINAPI WinMain(HINSTANCE hInstance,HINSTANCE hPrevInstance, LPWSTR lpCmdLine,int nCmdShow) { PrintMessage(); int exitCode = -1; HRESULT hr = S_OK; if (!XamlRuntimeInitialize()) return -1; HRESULT retcode; IXRApplicationPtr app; if (FAILED(retcode=GetXRApplicationInstance(&app))) return -1; if (FAILED(retcode=app->AddResourceModule(hInstance))) return -1; XRWindowCreateParams wp; ZeroMemory(&wp, sizeof(XRWindowCreateParams)); wp.Style = WS_OVERLAPPED; wp.pTitle = L"Bounce Test"; wp.Left = 0; wp.Top = 0; XRXamlSource xamlsrc; xamlsrc.SetResource(hInstance,TEXT("XAML"),MAKEINTRESOURCE(IDR_XAML1)); IXRVisualHostPtr vhost; if (FAILED(retcode=app->CreateHostFromXaml(&xamlsrc, &wp, &vhost))) return -1; IXRFrameworkElementPtr root; if (FAILED(retcode=vhost->GetRootElement(&root))) return -1; IXRButtonBasePtr btn; if (FAILED(retcode=root->FindName(TEXT("BrowserButton"), &btn))) return -1; IXRDelegate<XRMouseButtonEventArgs>* clickdelegate; BtnEventHandler handler; if(FAILED(retcode=CreateDelegate (&handler,&BtnEventHandler::OnClick,&clickdelegate))) return -1; if (FAILED(retcode=btn->AddClickEventHandler(clickdelegate))) return -1; UINT exitcode; if (FAILED(retcode=vhost->StartDialog(&exitcode))) return -1; return exitCode; } I have to add event handler for both the button so that on emulator whenever i click on any one of the button i should be able to launch the respective applications. Thanks in advance

  • WPF performance for large number of elements on the screen

    - by Mark
    Im currently trying to create a Scene in WPF where I have around 250 controls on my screen and the user can Pan and Zoom in and out of these controls using the mouse. I have run the WPF Performance Suite tools on the application when there are a large number of these controls on the screen (i.e. when the user has zoomed right out) the FPS drops down to around 15 which is not very good. Here is the basic outline of the XAML: <Window> <Window.Resources> <ControlTemplate x:Key="LandTemplate" TargetType="{x:Type local:LandControl}"> <Canvas> <Path Fill="White" Stretch="Fill" Stroke="Black" StrokeThickness="1" Width="55.5" Height="74.687" Data="M0.5,0.5 L55,0.5 L55,74.187 L0.5,74.187 z"/> <Canvas x:Name="DetailLevelCanvas" Width="24.5" Height="21" Canvas.Left="15.306" Canvas.Top="23.972"> <TextBlock Width="21" Height="14" Text="712" TextWrapping="Wrap" Foreground="Black"/> <TextBlock Width="17.5" Height="7" Canvas.Left="7" Canvas.Top="14" Text="614m2" TextWrapping="Wrap" FontSize="5.333" Foreground="Black"/> </Canvas> </Canvas> </ControlTemplate> </Window.Resources> ... <local:LandControl Width="55.5" Height="74.552" Canvas.Top="xxx" Template=" {StaticResource LandTemplate}" RenderTransformOrigin="0.5,0.5" Canvas.Left="xxx"> <local:LandControl Width="55.5" Height="74.552" Canvas.Top="xxx" Template=" {StaticResource LandTemplate}" RenderTransformOrigin="0.5,0.5" Canvas.Left="xxx"> <local:LandControl Width="55.5" Height="74.552" Canvas.Top="xxx" Template=" {StaticResource LandTemplate}" RenderTransformOrigin="0.5,0.5" Canvas.Left="xxx"> <local:LandControl Width="55.5" Height="74.552" Canvas.Top="xxx" Template=" {StaticResource LandTemplate}" RenderTransformOrigin="0.5,0.5" Canvas.Left="xxx"> ... and so on... </Window> Ive tried to minimise the details in the control template and I even did a massive find and replace of the controls to just put their raw elements inline instead of using a template, but with no noticeable performance improvements. I have seen other SO questions about this and people say to do custom drawing, but I dont really see how that make sense when you have to zoom and pan like I do. If anyone can help out here, that would be great! Mark

  • Binding problem in C# wpf

    - by Cinaird
    I have a problem whit binding in wpf i have a textbox where i can do some input, then i try to bind the textinput to a custom usercontrol. This work for the usercontrol within RowDetailsTemplate but not in the CellTemplate. For each object in the CellTemplate i get this error output: System.Windows.Data Error: 4 : Cannot find source for binding with reference 'ElementName=ScaleTextBox'. BindingExpression:Path=Text; DataItem=null; target element is 'Chart' (Name=''); target property is 'MaxValue' (type 'Int32') My code looks like this: XAML <ToolBarTray ToolBarTray.IsLocked="True" DockPanel.Dock="Top" Height="25"> <ToolBar Name="ButtonBar" > <TextBox Height="23" Name="ScaleTextBox" Width="120" Text="400"/> </ToolBar> </ToolBarTray> <DataGrid ItemsSource="{Binding Path=Items}" AutoGenerateColumns="False" IsReadOnly="True" RowHeight="25" RowDetailsVisibilityMode="VisibleWhenSelected"> <DataGrid.RowDetailsTemplate> <DataTemplate> <StackPanel Orientation="Vertical" > <my:UserControl ItemsSource="{Binding Path=Samples}" MaxValue="{Binding ElementName=ScaleTextBox, Path=Text}"/>--> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </DataGrid.RowDetailsTemplate> <DataGrid.Columns> <DataGridTemplateColumn MinWidth="150" Header="Chart" > <DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> <DataTemplate> <my:UserControl ItemsSource="{Binding Path=Samples}" MaxValue="{Binding ElementName=ScaleTextBox, Path=Text}"/><!-- this is the problem --> </DataTemplate> </DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> </DataGridTemplateColumn> </DataGrid.Columns> </DataGrid> C# public static readonly DependencyProperty MaxValueProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("MaxValue", typeof(int), typeof(PingChart), new FrameworkPropertyMetadata(MaxValuePropertyChanged)); private static void MaxValuePropertyChanged(DependencyObject source, DependencyPropertyChangedEventArgs e) { Console.WriteLine(e.NewValue); } What do i do wrong?

  • How to do the processing and keep GUI refreshed using databinding?

    - by macias
    History of the problem This is continuation of my previous question How to start a thread to keep GUI refreshed? but since Jon shed new light on the problem, I would have to completely rewrite original question, which would make that topic unreadable. So, new, very specific question. The problem Two pieces: CPU hungry heavy-weight processing as a library (back-end) WPF GUI with databinding which serves as monitor for the processing (front-end) Current situation -- library sends so many notifications about data changes that despite it works within its own thread it completely jams WPF data binding mechanism, and in result not only monitoring the data does not work (it is not refreshed) but entire GUI is frozen while processing the data. The aim -- well-designed, polished way to keep GUI up to date -- I am not saying it should display the data immediately (it can skip some changes even), but it cannot freeze while doing computation. Example This is simplified example, but it shows the problem. XAML part: <StackPanel Orientation="Vertical"> <Button Click="Button_Click">Start</Button> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=Counter}"/> </StackPanel> C# part (please NOTE this is one piece code, but there are two sections of it): public partial class MainWindow : Window,INotifyPropertyChanged { // GUI part public MainWindow() { InitializeComponent(); DataContext = this; } private void Button_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { var thread = new Thread(doProcessing); thread.IsBackground = true; thread.Start(); } // this is non-GUI part -- do not mess with GUI here public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; public void OnPropertyChanged(string property_name) { if (PropertyChanged != null) PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs(property_name)); } long counter; public long Counter { get { return counter; } set { if (counter != value) { counter = value; OnPropertyChanged("Counter"); } } } void doProcessing() { var tmp = 10000.0; for (Counter = 0; Counter < 10000000; ++Counter) { if (Counter % 2 == 0) tmp = Math.Sqrt(tmp); else tmp = Math.Pow(tmp, 2.0); } } } Known workarounds (Please do not repost them as answers) Those two first are based on Jon ideas: pass GUI dispatcher to library and use it for sending notifications -- why it is ugly? because it could be no GUI at all give up with data binding COMPLETELY (one widget with databinding is enough for jamming), and instead check from time to time data and update the GUI manually -- well, I didn't learn WPF just to give up with it now ;-) and this is mine, it is ugly, but simplicity of it kills -- before sending notification freeze a thread -- Thread.Sleep(1) -- to let the potential receiver "breathe" -- it works, it is minimalistic, it is ugly though, and it ALWAYS slows down computation even if no GUI is there So... I am all ears for real solutions, not some tricks.

  • Unable to add item to dataset in Linq to SQL

    - by Mike B
    I am having an issue adding an item to my dataset in Linq to SQL. I am using the exact same method in other tables with no problem. I suspect I know the problem but cannot find an answer (I also suspect all i really need is the right search term for Google). Please keep in mind this is a learning project (Although it is in use in a business) I have posted my code and datacontext below. What I am doing is: Create a view model (Relevant bits are shown) and a simple wpf window that allows editing of 3 properties that are bound to the category object. Category is from the datacontext. Edit works fine but add does not. If I check GetChangeSet() just before the db.submitChanges() call there are no adds, edits or deletes. I suspect an issue with the fact that a Category added without a Subcategory would be an orphan but I cannot seem to find the solution. Command code to open window: CategoryViewModel vm = new CategoryViewModel(); AddEditCategoryWindow window = new AddEditCategoryWindow(vm); window.ShowDialog(); ViewModel relevant stuff: public class CategoryViewModel : ViewModelBase { public Category category { get; set; } // Constructor used to Edit a Category public CategoryViewModel(Int16 categoryID) { db = new OITaskManagerDataContext(); category = QueryCategory(categoryID); } // Constructor used to Add a Category public CategoryViewModel() { db = new OITaskManagerDataContext(); category = new Category(); } } The code for saving changes: // Don't close window unless all controls are validated if (!vm.IsValid(this)) return; var changes = vm.db.GetChangeSet(); // DEBUG try { vm.db.SubmitChanges(ConflictMode.ContinueOnConflict); } catch (ChangeConflictException) { vm.db.ChangeConflicts.ResolveAll(RefreshMode.KeepChanges); vm.db.SubmitChanges(); } The Xaml (Edited fror brevity): <TextBox Text="{Binding category.CatName, Mode=TwoWay, ValidatesOnDataErrors=True, UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}" /> <TextBox Text="{Binding category.CatDescription, ValidatesOnDataErrors=True, UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}" /> <CheckBox IsChecked="{Binding category.CatIsInactive, Mode=TwoWay}" /> IssCategory in the Issues table is the old, text based category. This field is no longer used and will be removed from the database as soon as this is working and pushed live.

  • WPF Datagrid items binding problem

    - by gencay
    I get a problem while displaying a List in WPF-Datagrid. When I do this line ... DocumentList dt = new DocumentList(fileWordList, fileUriType, fileUri, cosineSimilarityRatio, diceSimilarityRatio, extendedJaccardSimilarityRatio); documentList.Add(dt); ... dataGrid1.Items.Add(dt); ... It creates an empty row into dataGrid1 and no text is shown there. my xaml implementation is this: <GroupBox Canvas.Left="-0.003" Canvas.Top="0" Header="Display Results" Height="427.5" Name="groupBox2" Width="645.56"> <toolkit:DataGrid Canvas.Left="137.5" Canvas.Top="240" Height="392" Name="dgrDocumentList" Width="627" ItemsSource="{Binding DocumentList }"> <toolkit:DataGrid.Columns> <toolkit:DataGridTextColumn Header="Type" Binding="{Binding type}" IsReadOnly="True"> </toolkit:DataGridTextColumn> <toolkit:DataGridHyperlinkColumn Header="Uri" Binding="{Binding path}" IsReadOnly="True"> </toolkit:DataGridHyperlinkColumn> <toolkit:DataGridTextColumn Header="Cosine" Binding="{Binding cos}" IsReadOnly="True"> </toolkit:DataGridTextColumn> <toolkit:DataGridTextColumn Header="Dice" Binding="{Binding dice}" IsReadOnly="True"> </toolkit:DataGridTextColumn> <toolkit:DataGridTextColumn Header="Jaccard" Binding="{Binding jaccard}" IsReadOnly="True"> </toolkit:DataGridTextColumn> </toolkit:DataGrid.Columns> </toolkit:DataGrid> </GroupBox> and my DocumentList class class DocumentList { public List<WordList> wordList; public string type; public string path; public double cos; public double dice; public double jaccard; //public static string title; public DocumentList(List<WordList> wordListt, string typee, string pathh, double sm11, double sm22, double sm33) { type = typee; wordList = wordListt; path = pathh; cos = sm11; dice = sm22; jaccard = sm33; } I would like to do that: When i add a new element into documentList instance, would like to see the results on data grid. Thank you in advance.

  • Stretch panel with splitter

    - by user1153896
    I want to implement a basic WPF layout with three panels and two splitters (Horizontal and Vertical splitter). Two panels on the left and on the bottom has to be callapsable and one panel has to stretch accordingly. Here is a simple XAML: <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="*"/> <ColumnDefinition Width="5"/> <ColumnDefinition Width="*"/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <StackPanel Background="Aqua" Grid.Column="0" Name="leftPanel" > <TextBlock FontSize="35" Foreground="#58290A" TextWrapping="Wrap">Left Hand Side</TextBlock> </StackPanel> <GridSplitter Grid.Column="1" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch"/> <Grid Grid.Column="2" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch" VerticalAlignment="Stretch"> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height="*" /> <RowDefinition Height="5" /> <RowDefinition Height="*" /> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <StackPanel HorizontalAlignment="Stretch" VerticalAlignment="Stretch"> <Label Content="... Clien Area .. Has to Stretch vertically and horizontally" Margin="10"></Label> <Button Click="LeftButton_Click" Margin="10">Close Left Panel</Button> <Button Click="BottomButton_Click" Margin="10">Close Bottom Panel</Button> </StackPanel> <GridSplitter Grid.Row="1" Background="Gray" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch"/> <ListBox Grid.Row="2" Background="Violet" Name="bottomPanel"> <ListBoxItem>Hello</ListBoxItem> <ListBoxItem>World</ListBoxItem> </ListBox> </Grid> </Grid> and codebehind: private void LeftButton_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { leftPanel.Visibility = (leftPanel.Visibility == System.Windows.Visibility.Visible)? System.Windows.Visibility.Collapsed : System.Windows.Visibility.Visible; } private void BottomButton_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { bottomPanel.Visibility = (bottomPanel.Visibility == System.Windows.Visibility.Visible) ? System.Windows.Visibility.Collapsed : System.Windows.Visibility.Visible; } This code doesn't work as expected :(. Any WPF experts around? to suggest a solution for having Client Area (stretched) and splitter at the same time? DockPanel will work perfectly, but I need splitter! Thanks.

  • WPF multibound textblock not updating

    - by Superstringcheese
    I want to create a program which calculates how long it will take to repeat a process a certain number of times. I've scaled this down a lot for this example. So, I have some textboxes which are bound to properties in a class: Count: <TextBox x:Name="txtCount" Text="{Binding Count, Mode=TwoWay}" Width="50"/> Days: <TextBox x:Name="txtDays" Text="{Binding Days, Mode=TwoWay}" Width="50"/> and a textblock which is multibound like so: <TextBlock x:Name="tbkTotal"> <TextBlock.Text> <MultiBinding StringFormat="Days: {0}, Count: {1}"> <Binding Path="Days" /> /* This isn't updating */ <Binding Path="Count" /> </MultiBinding> </TextBlock.Text> </TextBlock> My DataContext is set in the Window1.xaml.cs file. public Window1() { InitializeComponent(); Sample sample = new Sample(); this.DataContext = sample; } I can update the multibound textblock with the Count property just fine, but the Days property always shows 0, even though the Days input accurately reflects changes. I believe that this is because my accessors are different for Days - namely, the Set method. This class is in a different file. public class Sample : INotifyPropertyChanged { private int _count; private TimeSpan _span; public int Count { get { return _count; } set { _count = value; NotifyPropertyChanged("Count"); /* Doesn't seem to be needed, actually */ } } public TimeSpan Span { get { return _span; } } /* The idea is to provide a property for Days, Hours, Minutes, etc. as conveniences to the inputter */ public double Days { get { return _span.Days; } set { TimeSpan ts = new TimeSpan(); double val = value > 0 ? value : 0; ts = TimeSpan.FromDays(val); _span.Add(ts); NotifyPropertyChanged("Span"); /* Here I can only get it to work if I notify that Span has changed - doesn't seem to be aware that the value behind Days has changed. */ } } private void NotifyPropertyChanged(string property) { if (null != this.PropertyChanged) { PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs(property)); } } public Sample() { _count = 0; _span = new TimeSpan(); } public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; }

  • How to query data from a password protected https website

    - by Addie
    I'd like my application to query a csv file from a secure website. I have no experience with web programming so I'd appreciate detailed instructions. Currently I have the user login to the site, manually query the csv, and have my application load the file locally. I'd like to automate this by having the user enter his login information, authenticating him on the website, and querying the data. The application is written in C# .NET. The url of the site is: https://www2.emidas.com/default.asp. I've tested the following code already and am able to access the file once the user has already authenticated himself and created a manual query. System.Net.WebClient Client = new WebClient(); Stream strm = Client.OpenRead("https://www3.emidas.com/users/<username>/file.csv"); Here is the request sent to the site for authentication. I've angle bracketed the real userid and password. • Accessing parent-level controls from inside a ComboBox's child controls

    - by eponymous23
    I have XAML similar to this: <ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding SearchCriteria, Source={StaticResource model}}" SelectionChanged="cboSearchCriterionType_SelectionChanged"> <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <StackPanel Name="spCriterion" Orientation="Horizontal" Height="20"> <ComboBox Name="cboSearchCriterionType" Width="120" SelectionChanged="cboSearchCriterionType_SelectionChanged"> <ComboBox.Items> <ComboBoxItem IsSelected="True" Content="Anagram Match" /> <ComboBoxItem Content="Pattern Match" /> <ComboBoxItem Content="Subanagram Match" /> <ComboBoxItem Content="Length" /> <ComboBoxItem Content="Number of Vowels" /> <ComboBoxItem Content="Number of Anagrams" /> <ComboBoxItem Content="Number of Unique Letters" /> </ComboBox.Items> </ComboBox> <TextBox x:Name="SearchSpec" Text="{Binding SearchSpec}" /> <TextBox x:Name="MinValue" Text="{Binding MinValue}" Visibility="Collapsed" /> <TextBox x:Name="MaxValue" Text="{Binding MaxValue}" Visibility="Collapsed" /> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> As you can tell from the markup, I have a listbox that is bound to a collection of SearchCriterion objects (collectively contained in a SearchCriteria object). The idea is that the user can add/remove criterion items from the criteria, each criterion is represented by a listbox item. Inside the listbox item I have a combobox and three textboxes. What I'm trying to do is change the visibility of the TextBox controls depending on the item that is selected in the ComboBox. For example, if the user selects "Pattern Match" then I want to show only the first textbox and hide the latter two; conversely, if the user selects "Length" or any of the "Number of..." items, then I want to hide the first TextBox and show the latter two. What is the best way to achieve this? I was hoping to do something simple in the SelectionChanged event handler for the listbox but the textbox controls are presumably out of the SelectionChanged event's scope. Do I have to programmatically traverse the control hierarchy and find the controls?

    Hi followed " http://www.switchonthecode.com/tutorials/silverlight-3-tutorial-planeprojection-and-perspective-3d#comment-4688 ".. the animation is working fine. I am new to silver light. when i use dynamic image from xml instead of static image as in tutorial,.. it is not working fine, please help me on this. i used list box.. for this animation effect do i need to change listbox to some other arrangement ? if your answer yes means, pls give me some sample code. Thanks in advance. Xaml code: <ListBox Name="listBox1"> <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <StackPanel> <Image Source="{Binding imgurl}" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Name="image1" Stretch="Fill" VerticalAlignment="Top" MouseLeftButtonUp="FlipImage" /> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox> My C# code: //getting image URL from xml XElement xmlads = XElement.Parse(e.Result); //i bind the url in to listBox listBox1.ItemsSource = from ads in xmlads.Descendants("ad") select new zestItem { imgurl = ads.Element("picture").Value }; public class zestItem { public string imgurl { get; set; } } private int _zIndex = 10; private void FlipImage(object sender, MouseButtonEventArgs e) { Image image = sender as Image; // Make sure the image is on top of all other images. image.SetValue(Canvas.ZIndexProperty, _zIndex++); // Create the storyboard. Storyboard flip = new Storyboard(); // Create animation and set the duration to 1 second. DoubleAnimation animation = new DoubleAnimation() { Duration = new TimeSpan(0, 0, 1) }; // Add the animation to the storyboard. flip.Children.Add(animation); // Create a projection for the image if it doesn't have one. if (image.Projection == null) { // Set the center of rotation to -0.01, which will put a little space // between the images when they're flipped. image.Projection = new PlaneProjection() { CenterOfRotationX = -0.01 }; } PlaneProjection projection = image.Projection as PlaneProjection; // Set the from and to properties based on the current flip direction of // the image. if (projection.RotationY == 0) { animation.To = 180; } else { animation.From = 180; animation.To = 0; } // Tell the animation to animation the image's PlaneProjection object. Storyboard.SetTarget(animation, projection); // Tell the animation to animation the RotationYProperty. Storyboard.SetTargetProperty(animation, new PropertyPath(PlaneProjection.RotationYProperty)); flip.Begin(); }

  • Pass param to a silverlight application

    - by Lucas_Santos
    In my javascript I create my <OBJECT> tag var htmlEmbedSilverlight = "<div id='silverlightControlHost'> " + "<object data='data:application/x-silverlight-2,' type='application/x-silverlight-2' width='550px' height='250px'> " + "<param name='source' value='../../ClientBin/FotoEmprestimoChave.xap'/> " + "<param name='onError' value='onSilverlightError' /> " + "<param name='background' value='white' /> " + "<param name='minRuntimeVersion' value='4.0.60310.0' /> " + "<param name='autoUpgrade' value='true' /> " + "<param name='initparams' values='chave_id=" + data + "' /> " + "<a href='http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=149156&v=4.0.60310.0' style='text-decoration:none'> " + "<img src='http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=161376' alt='Get Microsoft Silverlight' style='border-style:none'/> " + "</a> " + "</object><iframe id='_sl_historyFrame' style='visibility:hidden;height:0px;width:0px;border:0px'></iframe></div>"; $("#tiraFotoSilverlight").html(htmlEmbedSilverlight); This is a reference to my Silverlight application where I call in my Web Application. The problem is my <param name='initparams' values='chave_id=" + data + "' /> " because in my App.xaml in Silverlight, I have the code below private void Application_Startup(object sender, StartupEventArgs e) { if (e.InitParams != null) { foreach (var item in e.InitParams) { this.Resources.Add(item.Key, item.Value); } } this.RootVisual = new MainPage(); } Where InitParams always has Count = 0 and I don't know why. Can someone help me ? I'm just trying to pass a value to my Silverlight application, without a PostBack.   • How do I change the visual style of a listitem based on its bound value?

    - by Rodd
    I have a listbox (here's the xaml): <ListBox MinWidth="300" ItemsSource="{Binding Relationships, Mode=OneWay}" SelectedItem="{Binding SelectedRelationship, Mode=TwoWay}" SelectionMode="Single" HorizontalAlignment="Left" > <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="Auto"/> <ColumnDefinition/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition/> <RowDefinition/> <RowDefinition/> <RowDefinition/> <RowDefinition/> <RowDefinition/> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <CheckBox IsChecked = "{Binding IsPrimary}" IsHitTestVisible="False" /> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal" Grid.Column="1"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding RelationshipType}" FontWeight="Bold" Margin="0,0,5,0" /> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Status}" FontStyle="Italic" /> </StackPanel> <TextBlock Text="{Binding UnitName}" Grid.Row="1" Grid.Column="1" /> <TextBlock Text="{Binding StartDate, Converter={StaticResource DateConverter}}" Grid.Row="2" Grid.Column="1"/> <TextBlock Text="{Binding RetireDate}" Grid.Row="3" Grid.Column="1" /> <TextBlock Text="{Binding EndDate}" Grid.Row="4" Grid.Column="1" /> <TextBlock Text="{Binding ReasonForLeaving}" Grid.Row="5" Grid.Column="1" /> </Grid> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox> What I want to do is have each item in the listbox have one of 3 backgrounds (green if the value of IsPrimary = true, Orange if the EndDate value is empty and grey if the EndDate value is not empty. Is there a way to template the listbox items so that they evaluate bound items to determine a view state or to have each listbox item bind to a value that I can set for each item in my viewmodel? Thanks for your help.

  • How do I determine if a property was overriden?

    - by Benjamin
    Hello I am doing a project that where I need to register all the properties, because of the system being so huge it would require a lot of work to register all the properties that i want to be dependent for the purpose of Xaml. The goal is to find all properties that are on the top of the tree. so basically public class A{ public int Property1 { get; set; } } public class B : A{ public int Property2 { get; set; } public virtual int Property3 { get; set; } } public class C : B{ public override int Property3 { get; set; } public int Property4 { get; set; } public int Property5 { get; set; } } The end result would be something like this A.Prorperty1 B.Property2 B.Property3 C.Property4 C.Property5 If you notice I don't want to accept overridden properties because of the way I search for the properties if I do something like this C.Property3 for example and it cannot find it it will check C's basetype and there it will find it. This is what I have so far. public static void RegisterType( Type type ) { PropertyInfo[] properties = type.GetProperties( BindingFlags.Public | BindingFlags.Instance | BindingFlags.DeclaredOnly | BindingFlags.GetProperty | BindingFlags.SetProperty ); if ( properties != null && properties.Length > 0 ) { foreach ( PropertyInfo property in properties ) { // if the property is an indexers then we ignore them if ( property.Name == "Item" && property.GetIndexParameters().Length > 0 ) continue; // We don't want Arrays or Generic Property Types if ( (property.PropertyType.IsArray || property.PropertyType.IsGenericType) ) continue; // Register Property } } } What I want are the following: Public properties, that are not overridden, not static, not private Either get and set properties are allowed They are not an array or a generic type They are the top of the tree ie C class in the example is the highest (The property list example is exactly what I am looking for) They are not an indexer property ( this[index] ) Any help will be much appreciated =).

  • WPF PathGeometry/RotateTransform optimization

    - by devinb
    I am having performance issues when rendering/rotating WPF triangles If I had a WPF triangle being displayed and it will be rotated to some degree around a centrepoint, I can do it one of two ways: Programatically determine the points and their offset in the backend, use XAML to simply place them on the canvas where they belong, it would look like this: <Path Stroke="Black"> <Path.Data> <PathGeometry> <PathFigure StartPoint ="{Binding CalculatedPointA, Mode=OneWay}"> <LineSegment Point="{Binding CalculatedPointB, Mode=OneWay}" /> <LineSegment Point="{Binding CalculatedPointC, Mode=OneWay}" /> <LineSegment Point="{Binding CalculatedPointA, Mode=OneWay}" /> </PathFigure> </PathGeometry> </Path.Data> </Path> Generate the 'same' triangle every time, and then use a RenderTransform (Rotate) to put it where it belongs. In this case, the rotation calculations are being obfuscated, because I don't have any access to how they are being done. <Path Stroke="Black"> <Path.Data> <PathGeometry> <PathFigure StartPoint ="{Binding TriPointA, Mode=OneWay}"> <LineSegment Point="{Binding TriPointB, Mode=OneWay}" /> <LineSegment Point="{Binding TriPointC, Mode=OneWay}" /> <LineSegment Point="{Binding TriPointA, Mode=OneWay}" /> </PathFigure> </PathGeometry> </Path.Data> <Path.RenderTransform> <RotateTransform CenterX="{Binding Centre.X, Mode=OneWay}" CenterY="{Binding Centre.Y, Mode=OneWay}" Angle="{Binding Orientation, Mode=OneWay}" /> </Path.RenderTransform> </Path> My question is which one is faster? I know I should test it myself but how do I measure the render time of objects with such granularity. I would need to be able to time how long the actual rendering time is for the form, but since I'm not the one that's kicking off the redraw, I don't know how to capture the start time.

  • C# drawing and invalidating 2 lines to meet

    - by BlueMonster
    If i have 2 lines on a page as such: e.Graphics.DrawLine(blackPen, w, h, h, w); e.Graphics.DrawLine(blackPen, w2, h2, h2, w2); how would i animate the first line to reach the second line's position? I have the following method which calculates the distance between two points (i'm assuming i would use this?) public int Distance2D(int x1, int y1, int x2, int y2) { // ______________________ //d = &#8730; (x2-x1)^2 + (y2-y1)^2 // //Our end result int result = 0; //Take x2-x1, then square it double part1 = Math.Pow((x2 - x1), 2); //Take y2-y1, then sqaure it double part2 = Math.Pow((y2 - y1), 2); //Add both of the parts together double underRadical = part1 + part2; //Get the square root of the parts result = (int)Math.Sqrt(underRadical); //Return our result return result; } How would i re-draw the line (on a timer) to reach the second line's position? I've looked a lot into XAML (story-boarding) and such - but i want to know how to do this on my own. Any ideas? I know i would need a method which runs in a loop re-drawing the line after moving the position a tid bit. I would have to call Invalidate() in order to make the line appear as though it's moving... but how would i do this? how would i move that line slowly over to the other line? I'm pretty sure i'd have to use double buffering if i'm doing this as well... as such: SetStyle(ControlStyles.DoubleBuffer | ControlStyles.AllPaintingInWmPaint | ControlStyles.UserPaint, true); This doesn't quiet work, i'm not quiet sure how to fix it. Any ideas? protected override void OnPaint(PaintEventArgs e) { Distance2D(w, h, w2, h2); if (w2 != w && h2 != h) { e.Graphics.DrawLine(blackPen, (w * (int)frame), (h * (int)frame), (h * (int)frame), (w * (int)frame)); e.Graphics.DrawLine(blackPen, w2, h2, h2, w2); } else { t.Abort(); } base.OnPaint(e); } public void MoveLine() { for (int i = 0; i < 126; i++) { frame += .02; Invalidate(); Thread.Sleep(30); } } private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { t = new Thread(new ThreadStart(MoveLine)); t.Start(); }

  • IE sends multiple cookies with same name?

    - by akach
    I have a strange bug that occurs in IE7/XP and IE8/Vista on my website. IE sends two cookies named PHPSESSID. How to reproduce: Clear cookies in IE (not necessary if you never visited unisender.com). Visit unisender.com (exactly without www to reproduce!) and it will redirect to www.unisender.com Login with any valid username and password (I've registered username testmsdn with password testmsdn - feel free to use for testing) Run your favourite capture-the-traffic program (I prefer wireshark) Now click any menu link (e.g. "messages") Look at captured traffic - you will see that IE sends double PHPSESSID cookie (and you are logged out after click because of this). It seems like first PHPSESSID is from unisender.com and second from www.unisender.com. Captured sample: GET /en/letter_list HTTP/1.1 Accept: image/gif, image/jpeg, image/pjpeg, application/x-ms-application, application/vnd.ms-xpsdocument, application/xaml+xml, application/x-ms-xbap, application/x-shockwave-flash, / Referer: http://www.unisender.com/en/intro Accept-Language: ru User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.0; Trident/4.0; Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1) ; SLCC1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.21022; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; FDM; .NET CLR 3.0.30729) Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate Host: www.unisender.com Connection: Keep-Alive Cookie: authchallenge=3a9cfcfc9fe33822e3e21d75c8a3d3e4; PHPSESSID=14ea1cb133632951592397c86eaf037e; us_reg_ref=unknown; us_reg_url=http%3A%2F%2Funisender.com%2F; __utma=1.778517853.1271204400.1271204400.1271204400.1; __utmb=1.3.10.1271204400; __utmc=1; __utmz=1.1271204400.1.1.utmcsr=(direct)|utmccn=(direct)|utmcmd=(none); PHPSESSID=65e110aeb995a66b9dc8da5656c7a3da; last_login_name=testmsdn I've tried to use session and non-session cookies, tried to use .unisender.com instead of unisender.com for cookie - nothing helps. I suppose there should not be cookies with same name. Am I right? Is it a bug in IE? If it's a bug then is there a workaround? Or am I wrong and it's an expected behavior?

  • Is it possible to create a C++ factory system that can create an instance of any "registered" object

    - by chrensli
    Hello, I've spent my entire day researching this topic, so it is with some scattered knowledge on the topic that i come to you with this inquiry. Please allow me to describe what I am attempting to accomplish, and maybe you can either suggest a solution to the immediate question, or another way to tackle the problem entirely. I am trying to mimic something related to how XAML files work in WPF, where you are essentially instantiating an object tree from an XML definition. If this is incorrect, please inform. This issue is otherwise unrelated to WPF, C#, or anything managed - I solely mention it because it is a similar concept.. So, I've created an XML parser class already, and generated a node tree based on ObjectNode objects. ObjectNode objects hold a string value called type, and they have an std::vector of child ObjectNode objects. The next step is to instantiate a tree of objects based on the data in the ObjectNode tree. This intermediate ObjectNode tree is needed because the same ObjectNode tree might be instantiated multiple times or delayed as needed. The tree of objects that is being created is such that the nodes in the tree are descendants of a common base class, which for now we can refer to as MyBase. Leaf nodes can be of any type, not necessarily derived from MyBase. To make this more challenging, I will not know what types of MyBase derived objects might be involved, so I need to allow for new types to be registered with the factory. I am aware of boost's factory. Their docs have an interesting little design paragraph on this page: o We may want a factory that takes some arguments that are forwarded to the constructor, o we will probably want to use smart pointers, o we may want several member functions to create different kinds of objects, o we might not necessarily need a polymorphic base class for the objects, o as we will see, we do not need a factory base class at all, o we might want to just call the constructor - without #new# to create an object on the stack, and o finally we might want to use customized memory management. I might not be understanding this all correctly, but that seems to state that what I'm trying to do can be accomplished with boost's factory. But all the examples I've located, seem to describe factories where all objects are derived from a base type. Any guidance on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time!

  • How to refresh xmlDataProvider when xml document changes at runtime in WPF?

    - by Kajsa
    I am trying to make a image viewer/album creator in visual studio, wpf. The image paths for each album is stored in an xml document which i bind to to show the images from each album in a listbox. The problem is when i add a image or an album at runtime and write it to the xml document. I can't seem to make the bindings to the xml document update so they show the new images and albums aswell. Calling Refresh() on the XmlDataProvider doesn't change anything. I don't wish to redo the binding of the XmlDataProvider, just make it read from the same source again. XAML: ... <Grid.DataContext> <XmlDataProvider x:Name="Images" Source="Data/images.xml" XPath="/albums/album[@name='no album']/image" /> </Grid.DataContext> ... <Label Grid.Row="1" Grid.Column="0" HorizontalAlignment="Right" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" Padding="0" Margin="0,0,0,5" Content="{x:Static resx:Resource.AddImageLabel}"/> <TextBox Grid.Row="1" Grid.Column="1" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" Name="newImagePath" Margin="0" /> <Button Grid.Row="1" Grid.Column="2" HorizontalAlignment="Left" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" Name="newImagePathButton" Content="{x:Static resx:Resource.BrowseImageButton}" Click="newImagePathButton_Click" /> ... <ListBox Grid.Column="0" Grid.ColumnSpan="4" Grid.Row="3" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch" Name="thumbnailList" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" IsSynchronizedWithCurrentItem="True" ItemsSource="{Binding BindingGroupName=Images}" SelectedIndex="0" Background="#FFE0E0E0" Height="110"> ... Code behind: private void newImagePathButton_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { string imagePath = newImagePath.Text; albumCreator.addImage(imagePath, null); //Reset import image elements to default newImagePath.Text = ""; //Refresh thumbnail listbox Images.Refresh(); Console.WriteLine("Image added!"); } public void addImage(string source, XmlElement parent) { if (parent == null) { //Use default album parent = (XmlElement)root.FirstChild; } //Create image element with source element within XmlElement newImage = xmlDoc.CreateElement(null, "image", null); XmlElement newSource = xmlDoc.CreateElement(null, "source", null); newSource.InnerText = source; newImage.AppendChild(newSource); //Add image element to parent parent.AppendChild(newImage); xmlDoc.Save(xmlFile); } Thank you very much for any help!
