• How can I modify my classes to use it's collections in WPF TreeView

  Hello, i'am trying to modify my objects to make hierarchical collection model. I need help. But I want to use thats collections in the WPF TreeView with HierarchicalDataTemplate. I saw many post's with examples of Hierarlichal Objects, but I steel don't know how to make my objects hierarchicaly. Please help.

• custom control in DataGridTemplateColumn

  Hi all, I'd like to add my custom control into a template column of data grid. The custom control is very similar to a text box, but has an icon in it. The user can click the icon, and selects an item from a prompted window, then the selected item will be filled into the text box. My problem is when the text box is filled, after I click the second column, the text will disappear. If I replace the custom control with a simple text box, the result is the same. • Rails: (Devise) Two different methods for new users?

  I have a Rails 3 app with authentication setup using Devise with the registerable module enabled. I want to have new users who sign up using our outside register form to use the full Devise registerable module, which is happening now. However, I also want the admin user to be able to create new users directly, bypassing (I think) Devise's registerable module. With registerable disabled, my standard UsersController works as I want it to for the admin user, just like any other Rail scaffold. However, now new users can't register on their own. With registerable enabled, my standard UsersController is never called for the new user action (calling Devise::RegistrationsController instead), and my CRUD actions don't seem to work at all (I get dumped back onto my root page with no new user created and no flash message). But i want "Type" to be a combobox so the user can select the apropriate type of the appointment (its a list of appointments connected to an event). This combobox should be filled with data thats inside a table of the sql ce database (apptype). This table is not static, the users can add and delete items from this list. I have tried a few ways i found via google, but failed. I guess i'm having problems understanding how this works/should work. I hope someone can help me :( Thanks in advance

What I want to be able to do is assign a Command, or use an event, so that when the user clicks on the Day it will notify the parent of the Day object that it has been clicked. I've tried the following: <Rectangle.CommandBindings> <CommandBinding Command="{x:Static local:Day.NextDay}" Executed="{x:Static local:Day.OnExecutedDayClick}" CanExecute="{x:Static local:Day.OnCanExecuteDayClick}"/> </Rectangle.CommandBindings> to try and bind the commands that are in the Day class but it didn't work. I got an error stating: 'ResourceDictionary' root element requires a x:Class attribute to support event handlers in the XAML file. Either remove the event handler for the Executed event, or add a x:Class attribute to the root element. Which I think means that there is no code-behind file for a ResourceDictionary, or something to that effect. In any event, I'm not sure if I should be using Commands here, or somehow tying events to the Rectangle in question, or if this is even possible. I've seen various places where it sure looks like it's possible, I'm just unable to translate what I'm seeing into something that actually works, hence this post. Thanks in advance.

  I'm trying to write a user control that has an ItemsControl, the ItemsTemplate of which contains a TextBox that will allow for TwoWay binding. However, I must be making a mistake somewhere in my code, because the binding only appears to work as if Mode=OneWay. • Rogue PropertyChanged notifications from ViewModel

  The following simple program is causing me a Databinding headache. I'm new to this which is why I suspect it has a simple answer. Basically, I have two text boxes bound to the same property myString. I have not set up the ViewModel (simply a class with one property, myString) to provide any notifications to the View for when myString is changed, so even although both text boxes operate a two way binding there should be no way that the text boxes update when myString is changed, am I right? Except... In most circumstances this is true - I use the 'change value' button at the bottom of the window to change the value of myString to whatever the user types into the adjacent text box, and the two text boxes at the top, even although they are bound to myString, do not change. Fine. However, if I edit the text in TextBox1, thus changing the value of myString (although only when the text box loses focus due to the default UpdateSourceTrigger property, see reference), TextBox2 should NOT update as it shouldn't receive any updates that myString has changed. However, as soon as TextBox1 loses focus (say click inside TextBox2) TextBox2 is updated with the new value of myString. My best guess so far is that because the TextBoxes are bound to the same property, something to do with TextBox1 updating myString gives TextBox2 a notification that it has changed. Very confusing as I haven't used INotifyPropertyChanged or anything like that. To clarify, I am not asking how to fix this. I know I could just change the binding mode to a oneway option. I am wondering if anyone can come up with an explanation for this strange behaviour? • Active Directory and Apple's Workgroup Manager

  I thought I'd share my experiences here. I work for a small business with only ~20 users. I wanted the ability to use managed client preferences to assign things like the software update server. Basically the ability to manage my Macs easily and in a native way. At first I tried the magic triangle solution, but I found this to be very complicated. Not only does it require a Mac OS X Server, but it gives you two points of failure. Additionally each Mac workstation must be bound to both servers. Eventually I sucked it up and went with the schema changes documented here. I was hesitant at first, because the instructions require a lot of manual work. However it was fairly basic and only took me about an hour and a half. Below you'll find the schema changes file that was a result of my work. I followed the instructions exactly and double checked everything, after six months of having this in place things have been running great. Too good to not share. • Installing Recaptcha in Joomla 1.5 user registration

  I am trying to install ReCaptcha into the user registration of Joomla 1.5. This may just be an issue with Joomla but when i hit register nothing happens. I think it's doing some JavaScript form validation but there is nothing telling the user what went wrong. if, God forbid, they do fill out the form correctly Joomla will redirect the user to the homepage and give no notice of success. Is this a Joomla issue or is there something wrong with my install? Does anyone know of a plug-in or module for Joomla that would make this easier? • Which is a good opensource user management system?

  I'm new to php/mySQL and am trying to create a website which will allow users to register. In future, there will be a paid content area where content will be shown based on the payment status. Is there a good opensource lightweight framework which takes care of the user management part? (Register, edit user info, retrieve lost password etc). I'm a flash platform developer and not aware of how to take care of stuff like session hijacking, XSS etc. Should I go ahead and learn to do all this on my own, without using any framework? I thought of using Wordpress' user management system, but not sure how easy that would be. Any suggestion would be great.

  I'm trying to do something like this, where I have two loops going in seperate threads. • Storing user info in Session using an Object vs. normal variables

  I'm in the process of implementing a user authentication system for my website. I'm using an open source library that maintains user information by creating a User object and storing that object inside my php SESSION variable. Is this the best way to store and access that information? I find it a bit of a hassle to access the user variables because I have to create an object to access them first: $userObj = $_SESSION['userObject']; $userObj->userId; instead of just accessing the user id like this how I would usually store the user ID: $_SESSION['userId']; Is there an advantage to storing a bunch of user data as an object instead of just storing them as individual SESSION variables? ps - The library also seems to store a handful of variables inside the user object (id, username, date joined, email, last user db query) but I really don't care to have all that information stored in my session. I only really want to keep the user id and username.

I want the URL to look like this: http://example.com/bart/school?page=2 and the rewritten URL to be: http://localhost:8080/app?user=bart&tag1=school&page=2 If possible, I would also like to be able to have more than one tag per user: http://example.com/bart/school/lisa?page=2 Would look like: http://localhost:8080/app?user=bart&tag1=school&tag2=lisa&page=2 I far as I can tell this is possible by using mod_rewrite but I can't seem to figure it out. Any help would be really appreciated!

• Creating an admin user in Devise on Rails beta 3

  Ok, I'm probably going to feel quite dumb when someone answers this one with a simple thing that I'm missing but... here goes: I've got a brand new app on rails 3 beta and I'm using devise for the authentication. I've run all the comments and everything is working perfectly at the moment. I've created a user role and an admin role (following these instructions: http://wiki.github.com/plataformatec/devise/adding-an-admin-role) and I've registered myself as the first user but how to do I register or create an admin role user? The directions from the devise guys setup the admin role to not be registerable but I'm unsure how you're supposed to create the admin if you can't register?! Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

  I don't have an iPad yet to find this out; have had only a brief opportunity to look at one at the Apple store. Could someone please describe what, if anything, happens to the mouseOver event of an image-map area when the image-map|area has had user-select disabled with "webkit-user-select: none" in the CSS, as described here in section 5: http://developer.apple.com/safari/library/technotes/tn2010/tn2262/index.html When a finger tip is placed on the image-map area and held there (i.e.not a tap) is the mouseOver eventhandler invoked under those circumstances? Or does nothing happen other than the image-map area doesn't change color because it's now unselectable? In my brief experience with the iPad at the Apple store, when user-select is not disabled, and the image-map area has a mouseOver eventhandler, a tap fires the mouseOver event rather than the click event. (This stores Id as well as name) In a httpmodule I stored this extended id in Current.User like so: HttpContext.Current.User = new GenericPrincipal(myExtendedId, roles); Problem is, later, how do I get at my ExtendedId type again? If I try this: ExtendedId eId = (ExtendedId)HttpContext.Current.User.Identity; I get a casting error. I have a feeling I'm doing something stupid here with casting, but I'm a bit foggy this morning.

• Release another user's lock obtained with sp_getapplock on SQL Server

  We have a system that uses sp_getapplock to create an exclusive mutex any time someone opens an order in the GUI. This is used to prevent multiple people from making changes to an order simultaneously. Sometimes people will open an order and go home, leaving it open. This effectively blocks anyone from being able to make changes to the order. I then get emails, calls and end up doing a kill <spid> in enterprise manager. Obviously I've gotten sick of this and want to make a quick self-service webform. The main problem I've run into is that kill requires sysadmin privileges, which I do not want to give to the user that the our website runs as. I have tried sp_releaseapplock but this doesn't let you release another user's lock (even when calling it as a sysadmin). So, finally my question; does anyone know of an alternative method to release a lock that was obtained by another user using sp_getapplock?

  This answer to this question may seem obvious, but I'm actually struggling with it quite a bit. I've searched through JFileChooser methods in the API, and I've looked at some of the questions already asked and answered here on stackoverflow. My question is this. In my program, I am to allow the user to type in a file name which I will then use to create a brand new file that I will write on. How do you get the text the user has entered in the textfield next to the label "Save As:" on the Save dialog box provided by JFileChooser? Is there a JFileChooser method that would allow me to get that user-inputed text? Or would I have to go through another class, or do something else to get that text? Thank you so much, to anyone who answers. It's very late for me now, and this program is due in a few hours (meaning I'll be having another sleepless night). Desperate may be too strong a word, but I'm something close enough.

• How to crawl retweets of a certain user?

  I studied the Twitter API Documentation today. Only find that we could use "Twitter REST API Method: statuses user_timeline" to acquire statuses of a certain user. Retweets are stripped out of the user_timeline for backwards compatibility reasons. If I want retweets included, API Documentation recommend "statuses retweeted_by_me", but retweeted_by_me cannot return the retweets by other users. I think maybe we can analyse the twitter webpage of a certain user to get his retweets. However is there any elegant way to crawl retweets of a certain user? Thanks in advance!
