  • How to have a javascript callback executed after an update panel postback?

    I'm using a jQuery tip plugin to show help tips when the user hovers certain elements of the page. I need to register the plugin events after the page is loaded using css selectors. The problem is I'm using an ASP.NET Update Panel and after the first postback, the tips stop working because the update panel replaces the page content but doesn't rebind the javascript events. I need a way to execute a javascript callback after the Update Panel refreshes its content, so I can rebind the javascript events to have the tips working again. Is there any way to do this?

  • files get uploaded just before they get cancelled

    Got a little situation here where I am trying to cancel a file's upload. What I have done is stated that if the user clicks on the "Cancel" button, then it will simply remove the iframe so that it does not go to the page where it uploads the files into the server and inserts data into the database. Now this works fine if the user clicks on the "Cancel" button in quickish time the problem I have realised though is that if the user clicks on the "Cancel" button very late, it sometimes doesn't remove the iframe in time meaning that the file has just been uploaded just before the user has clicked on the "Cancel" button. So my question is that is there a way that if the file does somehow get uploaded before the user clicks on the "Cancel" button, that it deletes the data in the database and removes the file from the server?     The main page ("parent.html") has a link that ajaxloads a page ("page1.html") into a div ("targetdiv") in the main page, like so: parent html: $("#targetdiv").html(loading).load('page1.html'); This works fine and "page1.html" is loaded into "targetdiv". The "page1.html" also has a link in it that is supposed to ajaxload another page ("page2.html") into "targetdiv" (onto itself), like so: page1.html: (in "targetdiv") $("#targetdiv").html(loading).load('page2.html'); This does not work; "html(loading)" comes up in "targetdiv" and stays there, "page2.html" is not loaded. When I look at the dev console in chrome, it shows the URL that gets called, and it only passes action and dbname.   • How can I load a div in rails in response to clicks on another div?

    I'm very new to Rails (and web) programming, so I'm not even sure what technology I should be looking for for this. I've downloaded and run through the first five chapters of the Rails tutorial, but now have a very simple request. On the left hand side of a web page, I will have a table. If the user clicks on an element in that table, I want to have the right hand side of the page show something new. I already have a page to display the table, viz: <div class="center hero-unit"> <div class="container"> <h2>2012 Yearly Report</h2> <div class="row-fluid"> <div class="span12"> <div class="span4"> <table border="1"> </table> </div> <div class="span6"> <!-- load stuff here based on what someone clicks on in the table --> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> And I'm using bootstrap layouts to display everything. I just don't understand how to change the contents of the 'span6' div based on user behavior in 'span4'.

    I'm building a site with a hashchange on wordpress, all working good. It just loads a single.php template file into a div. The problem is that i can still access my single url (http://www.mydomain.com/my-single-post). Since its not having any head and style tags with it, i don't want people to go over there. Also google has picked up the direct links, because I use the href attribute to load content into the div. So my question is: If someone clicks a link lets say in a forum, http://www.mydomain.com/my-single-post , is it possible to redirect him instantly to http://www.mydomain.com/#my-single-post ? I have researched that it has something to do with .htaccess, but I also have Pages, where i don't want the hash infront of the page-name.

It does work if the span is hard coded into the page for example: <span title="text to populate" class="type">test</span> I'm guessing that the XML is not getting loaded into the DOM in the right way (or something like that) Any Ideas?

    I am having a problem retreiving data out of an object passed back from PHP. I've tried many different ways to access this data and none work. In Firebug I see the following... (it looks nicer in Firebug) - I tried to make this look as close to Firebug as possible results Object { data="{"formName":"form3","formData":"data goes here"}", phpLiveDebug="<...s: 198.91.215.227"} data "{"formName":"form3","formData":"data goes here"}" phpLiveDebug "<...s: 198.91.215.227" I can access phpLiveDebug no problem, but the data portion is an object. I have tried the following... success: function(results) { //$("#formName").val(results.data.formName); //$("#formName").val(results.data[0].formName); //$("#formName").val(results.data[0]); //$("#formName").val(results.data[1]); //$("#formName").val(results.data[0]["formName"]); var tmp = results.data[formName]; alert("!" + tmp + "!"); $("#formName").val(tmp); $("#jqueryPHPDebug").val(results.phpLiveDebug); } This line works in the example above... $("#jqueryPHPDebug").val(results.phpLiveDebug); but... I can't figure out how to get at the data inside the results.data portion... as you can see above, I have been trying different things and more not even listed there. I was really hoping this line would work :) var tmp = results.data[formName]; But it doesn't. So, after many days of reading, tinkering, my solution was to re-write it to return data similar to the phpLiveDebug but then I thought... it's gotta be something simple I'm overlooking... Results would appear seconds later, especially when typed slower, or when Backspace was used, etc. I made all this, and the situation isn't much better. Requests pile up. My original intention is to use .abort() to cancel out whatever previous request is still running as the textchange event is fired again (as per 446594). This doesn't work, as I get repeated errors like this in console; Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method 'abort' of undefined How can I make .abort() work in my case? Furthermore, is this approach the best way to fetch 'realtime' search results? Much like Facebook's search bar, which gives results as the user types, and seems to be very quick on its feet.

  • Error Message, "The Controls collection cannot be modified because the control contains code blocks"

    I'm receiving this error on a page that previously worked fine, in fact the only change I've made to the page recently was to add another asp:TextBox and asp:RequiredFieldValidator control. The page already had numerous ASP.NET controls on it, so I cannot see why these extra controls would make a difference, anyway I shall post the code below and hopefully you can see what the error is:
