  • Jquery $.get against ASP.NET MVC not working in Opera and Firefox

    Let me first put the code snippets here. I am just using the ASP.NET MVC project Visual Studio creates out of the box. Opera also doesn't work so I assume it is the same problem. However, above code works just fine in IE 8, Chrome, and Safari. On localhost all of the above browsers work as expected including Firefox and Opera -- they all receive "Got ajax request!" as the response from the server. Anybody have any ideas what's going on here and how to fix it? I am looking for a real solution or at least explanation as to what is going on and why.

    The intention is to build a wrapper to provide a consistent method of calling native functions with variable arity on various script hosts - so that the script could be executed in a browser as well as in the Windows Script Host or other script engines. Well, shall we delve into all the reasons why eval() is evil? And also all the string concatenation... Not a solution to be labeled "elegant". One can never know the maximum n and thus how many cases to prepare. This also would strech the script to immense proportions and sin against the holy DRY principle. The script could get executed on older (pre- JavaScript 1.3 / ECMA-262-3) engines that don't support the apply() method. Now the question part: is there any another solution out there?

    I'm receiving this error on a page that previously worked fine, in fact the only change I've made to the page recently was to add another asp:TextBox and asp:RequiredFieldValidator control.   • Embedding a CMS in an MVC Web App

    I'm working on a website for searching for businesses, then displaying a listing page. We've been toying with the idea of letting the clients manage their listing page using an external CMS. I'm not sure how often this is done, or if it's even best practice. Ideally, we want to be able to setup a listing on our website, then give the clients access to an external CRM when they can manage their listing page. We then want to embed this custom page within our website, possibly using an iframe (which will come along with it's own set of complications). We'd like this integration to be as seamless as possible. I'd personally prefer it if we could directly inject the HTML into our own page and bypass an iframe all together, but I don't know of any CMS hosting services that provide the interface for such a thing. We've experimented a little with Squarespace, and we can get a fairly clean version of someone's page which would be well suited for an iframe. I'm wondering if anyone else has looked and integrating an external hosting CMS into a website (in this case, we're using ASP.NET MVC). We'd also want to automate the creation of accounts on this external CMS, so when a user signed up we could just point them to the website with some login details. I have no idea if anyone offers a service like this, but any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. We could host a service ourself too, but the aim is to have an external system that clients can use to manage their pages. Cheers, James

When sorting an item I would like a clone of the item I am dragging remain until I stop drop the item in its new position.     Hello Everyone. I am new to delphi. I was trying to add C Object files in my Delphi project and link them directly since Delphi Supports C Object Linking. I got it working when i link a single Object file. But when i try to link multiple object files, i am getting error 'Unsatisfied forward or external declaration'. I have tried this in Delphi 2007 as well as XE.So what am i doing wrong here? The web service gets document meta data from SharePoint, it running on a server where I cant debug but with logging I confirmed that the method enters and exits successfully.     I am working on a Yahoo! App which requires certain external Javascript Frameworks to be loaded and used. Also in the Yahoo! App Best Practices Guide, it is also mentioned that the sources should be externalized, however, externalization isn't working for me. I am using the standard procedure to load the external JS file like the following: <script src="http://www.google.com/js/nxsl.1.js"></script> But the above statement is giving me an error that external sources are not allowed. Is there any way to use external JS files as I don't want to include all of my JS Login inline, it doesn't make sense to me and majorly my code won't be re-usable. Any thoughts ?

    How do I escape ampersands in a batch file (or from the Windows command line) in order to use the start command to open web pages with ampersands in the URL? Double quotes will not work with start; this starts a new command line window instead. Update 1: Wael Dalloul's solution works. In addition, if there are URL encoded characters (e.g. space is encoded as %20) in the URL and it is in a batch file then '%' must be encoded as '%%'. This is not the case in the example. Example, from the command line (CMD.EXE): start http://www.google.com/search?client=opera&rls=en&q=escape+ampersand&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 will result in http://www.google.com/search?client=opera being opened in the default browser and these errors in the command line window: 'rls' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. If it isnt clear I actually want the tabs to be inside the lightbox. And I also have php/mysql running inside the lightbox if that can change anything.   • error handler isn't called when file is uploaded via ajax using jQuery form plugin

    Here's my test case. If the form is posted, a 500 error response is sent. If not, the form is sent. If the file input tag is commented out, the error handler is called. If the file input tag is present, the error handler isn't called. I think this might have something to do with the fact that jQuery needs to use an iframe to handle the upload and iframes don't seem to respond to the error handler. Edit: If I add iframe: true to the options passed to ajaxSubmit to force the use of an iframe, the non-file-upload case stops working also, so it definitely has to do with the iframe.   • JQuery Autocomplete plugin not working with JQuery 1.4.1

    I've been using the JQuery Autocomplete plugin with JQuery version 1.3.2, and it has been working great. I recently updated JQuery in my project to version 1.4.2, and the Autocomplete plugin is now broken. The JQuery code to add items to a textbox on my web page doesn't seem to be getting called at all. Does anyone know if the JQuery Autocomplete plugin is incompatible with JQuery version 1.4.2, and if there is a fix for this problem? This will use the counter $i to give each input box a unique name and id. The problem is that the unique value of the input box needs to be passed to the javascript. this will then pass the inputted data to the external php page and return the mysql results. In all cases I've been unable to get the handle to move. It also seems to have a width of 1px or similar.
