  All of a sudden I'm getting the following error on my website. It doesnt access a db. just a simple website using .net 2.0. I did recently apply the available windows server 2003 service packs. Could that have changed things? I should add the error randomly comes and goes and has been doing so for today and yesterday. I leave it for 5 minutes and the error is gone. • Issues POSTing XML to OAuth and Signature Invalid with Ruby OAuth Gem

  [Cross-posted from the OAuth Ruby Google Group. If you couldn't help me there, don't worry bout it] I'm working on integrating a project with TripIt's OAuth API and am running into a weird issue. I authenticate fine, I store and retrieve the token/secret for a given user with no problem, I can even make GET requests to a number of services using the gem. But when I try using the one service I need POST for, I'm getting a 401 "invalid signature" response. • Facebook Connect: Error when clicking the Facebook Connect button

• Detecting 'stealth' web-crawlers

  What options are there to detect web-crawlers that do not want to be detected? (I know that listing detection techniques will allow the smart stealth-crawler programmer to make a better spider, but I do not think that we will ever be able to block smart stealth-crawlers anyway, only the ones that make mistakes.) I'm not talking about the nice crawlers such as googlebot and Yahoo! Slurp. I consider a bot nice if it: identifies itself as a bot in the user agent string reads robots.txt (and obeys it) I'm talking about the bad crawlers, hiding behind common user agents, using my bandwidth and never giving me anything in return. There are some trapdoors that can be constructed updated list (thanks Chris, gs): Adding a directory only listed (marked as disallow) in the robots.txt, Adding invisible links (possibly marked as rel="nofollow"?), style="display: none;" on link or parent container placed underneath another element with higher z-index detect who doesn't understand CaPiTaLiSaTioN, detect who tries to post replies but always fail the Captcha. detect GET requests to POST-only resources detect interval between requests detect order of pages requested detect who (consistently) requests https resources over http detect who does not request image file (this in combination with a list of user-agents of known image capable browsers works surprisingly nice) Some traps would be triggered by both 'good' and 'bad' bots. you could combine those with a whitelist: It trigger a trap It request robots.txt? It doest not trigger another trap because it obeyed robots.txt One other important thing here is: Please consider blind people using a screen readers: give people a way to contact you, or solve a (non-image) Captcha to continue browsing. What methods are there to automatically detect the web crawlers trying to mask themselves as normal human visitors. Update The question is not: How do I catch every crawler. The question is: How can I maximize the chance of detecting a crawler. Some spiders are really good, and actually parse and understand html, xhtml, css javascript, VB script etc... I have no illusions: I won't be able to beat them. You would however be surprised how stupid some crawlers are. With the best example of stupidity (in my opinion) being: cast all URLs to lower case before requesting them. And then there is a whole bunch of crawlers that are just 'not good enough' to avoid the various trapdoors.

• Installing .NET 3.5 SP1 on server broke WCF

  I installed .NET 3.5 SP1 on server which previously had .NET 3.0 SP2. Before install site was working perfectly. After install and subsequeny server restart, site displays but anything that makes use of the WCF service has stopped working. The exception log reports exceptions like the following when any calls are made to the client proxy: The communication object, System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel, cannot be used for communication because it is in the Faulted state. The server's application event log gave the following errors after the install: Configuration section system.serviceModel.activation already exists in c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Config\machine.config. Configuration section system.runtime.serialization already exists in c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Config\machine.config. Configuration section system.serviceModel already exists in c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Config\machine.config. which seems to be inline with the fact that anything WCF related has stopped working. I am not experienced in server configurations or WCF so looking for any assistance with this. Thanks!! • Mercurial client error 255 and HTTP error 404 when attempting to push large files to server

  Problem: When attempting to push a changeset that contains 6 large files (.exe, .dmg, etc) to my remote server my client (MacHG) is reporting the error: "Error During Push. Mercurial reported error number 255: abort: HTTP Error 404: Not Found" What does the error even mean?! The only thing unique (that I can tell) about this commit is the size, type, and filenames of the files. How can I determine which exact file within the changeset is failing? How can I delete the corrupt changeset from the repository? Someone reported using "mq" extensions, but it looks overly complicated for what I'm trying to achieve. Background: I can push and pull the following: source files, directories, .class files and a .jar file to and from the server, using both MacHG and toirtoise HG. I successfully committed to my local repository the addition for the first time the 6 large .exe, .dmg etc installer files (about 130Mb total). In the following commit to my local repository, I removed ("untracked" / forget) the 6 files causing the problem, however the previous (failing) changeset is still queued to be pushed to the server (i.e. my local host is trying to push the "add" and then the "remove" to the remote server - and keep aligned with the "keep everything in history" philosophy of the source control system). I can commit .txt .java files etc using TortoiseHG from Windows PCs. I haven't actually testing committing or pushing the same large files using TortoiseHG. Please help! • Handling Errors from HttpWebRequest.GetResponse

  Hey experts - I'm having a ridiculous time trying to get an SMS API working (ZeepMobile, if you're interested) with .NET... I've been around .NET for a few years, but with all this social networking and API stuff, I need to get into the HttpWebRequest a bit. I'm new at it, but not completely new; I was able to hook up my site to Twitter without too much fuss (ie, I was able to modify someone's code to work for me). Anyways, the way their API works is to send an SMS message, you send them a POST and they respond back to you. I can send it just fine, but every time I do, rather than echo back something helpful to figure out what the error is, I get the Yellow Error Page Of Death (YEPOD) saying something to the effect of "The remote server returned an error: (400) Bad Request." This occurs on my line: '...creation of httpwebrequest here...'   Can anyone shed some light on what's causing this timeout error on Heroku (at 2012-07-08T08:58:33+00:00)? The docs say that it's because of some long running process. I've set config.assets.initialize_on_precompile = false in config/application.rb. • firefox, jQuery ajax calls firing twice and never triggering success or error functions

  Hi, I am developing with the .NET framework, using jQuery 1.4.2 client side. When developing in Firefox version 3.6, every so often an one of the many ajax calls I make on the page will fire twice, the second will return successfully but will not trigger the success handler of the ajax call and the first never returns anything. So basically the data is all sent to the server and response is sent down but nothing happens with the response. Here is an example of the call I am making. I have seen this article about firefox 3.5+ and preflighted requests https://developer.mozilla.org/En/HTTP_access_control#Preflighted_requests In the article is says if a "POST" is made with any other content type than "application/x-www-form-urlencoded, multipart/form-data, or text/plain" than the request is pre-flighted.   Hello. I'm trying to use httplib's HTTPSConnection for client validation, using a PKCS #12 certificate. I know the certificate is good, as I can connect to the server using it in MSIE and Firefox. Here's my connect function (the certificate includes the private key). When I try to run this using a PKCS#12 certificate (a .pfx file), I get back what appears to be an openSSL error. In that case, I received no error, I was prompted to enter the PEM pass phrase, and the code did attempt to reach the server. (I received the response "The service is not available. Please try again later.", but I believe that would be because the server does not accept the PEM cert. I can't connect in Firefox to the server using the PEM cert either.) Is httplib's HTTPSConnection supposed to support PCKS#12 certificates? (That is, pfx files.) If so, why does it look like openSSL is trying to load it inside the PEM lib? Am I doing this all wrong? Any advice is welcome. EDIT: The certificate file contains both the certificate and the private key, which is why I'm providing the same file name for both the HTTPSConnection's key_file and cert_file parameters.

  I'm trying to deploy a WCF service to my server, hosted in IIS. Naturally it works on my machine :) But when I deploy it, I get the following error: This collection already contains an address with scheme http. There can be at most one address per scheme in this collection. Googling on this, I find that I have to put a serviceHostingEnvironment element into the web.config file: <serviceHostingEnvironment> <baseAddressPrefixFilters> <add prefix="http://mywebsiteurl"/> </baseAddressPrefixFilters> </serviceHostingEnvironment> But once I have done this, I get the following: Could not find a base address that matches scheme http for the endpoint with binding BasicHttpBinding. • CCNet web dashboard not showing anything when MSBuild fails

  I have a simple project in ccnet using svn & msbuild only. There is a 30 second trigger for svn and the msbuild file compiles a web application then copies it to a numbered build folder. When an error occurs in the msbuild task I get a failed build. When I view a failed build in the web dashboard I can see the 'Modifications since last build' section in the dashboard, but nothing else. I have to click on the build log and read through all of the xml in the error log to see what the error was. Why won't the dashboard show the errors from the build log? I haven't changed anything in the dashboard.config since installing ccnet. I want the SVProgressHUB to be displayed during this hang time, how can I do this?

  Hello, I have a working example of sending message to server and server receiving it via qpid messaging. Here is simple hello world to send to server : http://pastebin.com/M7mSECJn And here is server which receives requests and sends response(the current client doesn't receive response) : http://pastebin.com/2mEeuzrV Here is my property file : http://pastebin.com/TLEFdpXG They all work perfectly, I can see the messages in the qpid queue via Qpid JMX management console. These examples are downloaded from https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/qpid/trunk/qpid/java/client/example (someone may need it also). I've done Jboss messaging using spring before, but I can't manage to do the same with qpid.   I develop a program which connect to a web-server through network every thing works fine until I try to use some dongle to protect my software. the dongle has network feature too and it's API work under network infrastructure. when I added the Dongle checking code to my program I got this error: "Either the application has not called WSAStartup, or WSAStartup failed" I don't have any idea what is going on?
