  • php 5.3.2 not throwing exceptions

    - by tipu
    I'm attempting to throw an exception using php 5.3.2 and it is giving me the following error: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_THROW I am attempting to throw an exception the following way: throw new Exception('Property ' . $name . ' doesn\'t exist in class Index', ''); Edit: I also tried throw new Exception('Property ' . $name . ' doesn\'t exist in class Index'); it didn't change the error I was getting. The complete method: public function __get($name) { if(property_exists($this, $name) throw new Exception('Property ' . $name . ' doesn\'t exist in class Index'); return $this->$name; }

  • getting detailed information about structured exceptions

    - by Martin
My Visual C++ application is compiled with /EHA option, letting me catch structured exceptions (division by zero, access violation, etc). I then translate those exceptions to my own exception class using _set_se_translator(). My goal is to improve our logging of those types of exceptions. I can get the type of exception from the EXCEPTION_RECORD structure, and the exception address. I would like to be able to gather more information, like the source file/location where the exception is thrown, the call stack, etc. Is that possible? I do create an exception minidump on structured exceptions - is there a tool to automatically get the call stack from that?

  • UnitTest ExpectedException with multiple Exceptions

    - by masterchris_99
    I want one TestMethod for multiple exceptions. The Problem ist that the Testmethod stops after the first thrown exception. I know that I can do something like that: try { sAbc.ToInteger(); Assert.Fail(); // If it gets to this line, no exception was thrown } catch (ArgumentException) { } But I want to use the following code-base: [TestMethod, ExpectedException(typeof(ArgumentException), "...")] public void StringToIntException() { sAbc.ToInteger(); // throws an exception and stops here sDecimal.ToInteger(); // throws theoretically a exception too... } And I don't want to create one testmethod for each possible exception like that: [TestMethod, ExpectedException(typeof(ArgumentException), "...")] public void StringToIntException() { sAbc.ToInteger(); } [TestMethod, ExpectedException(typeof(ArgumentException), "...")] public void StringToIntException() { sDecimal.ToInteger(); }

  • Why is TargetInvocationException treated as uncaught by the IDE?

    - by Jason Coyne
I have some code that is using reflection to pull property values from an object. In some cases the properties may throw exceptions, because they have null references etc. try { child.Target = propertyInfo.GetValue(target, null); } catch (TargetInvocationException ex) { child.Target = ex.InnerException.Message; } catch (Exception ex) { child.Target = ex.Message; } Ultimately the code works correctly, however when I am running under the debugger : When the property throws an exception, the IDE drops into the debugger as if the exception was uncaught. If I just hit run, the program flows through and the exception comes out as a TargetInvocationException with the real exception in the InnerException property. How can I stop this from happening?

  • @ExceptionHandler doesn't handle the thrown exceptions

    - by Javi
Hello, I have a method in my controller which will handle the exceptions thrown by the application. So I have a method like this one. @Controller public class ExceptionController { @RequestMapping(value="/error") @ExceptionHandler(value={Exception.class, NullPointerException.class}) public String showError(Exception e, Model model){ return "tiles:error"; } } And to try I if it works I throw a NullPointerException in another method in other method controller: boolean a = true; if(a){ throw new NullPointerException(); } After the exception is thrown it is printed in the JSP, but it doesn't go throw my showError() method (I've set a breakpoint there and it never enters). showError() method will catch the exception and will show different error pages depending on the exception type (though now it always shows the same error page). If I go to the url /error it shows the error page so the showError() method is OK. I'm using Spring 3. What can be the problem? Thanks.

  • Unauthorized Access Exception using Web Deploy to Site when the site root is a UNC path

    - by Peter LaComb Jr.
I am trying to use Web Deploy to deploy a site where the Site is rooted on a UNC path instead of a local drive. This is because I want to have a shared configuration, and have all servers point to the same UNC for content. That would allow me to deploy to one server and have all servers updated at the same time. I've created a share with everyone and users read/write. The NTFS permissions have the ID of the appDomain account as full control, and that is the same account that is configured as the specific user in Management Service Delegation. I can log on to the destination server as that ID, access the share and create/delete files. However, I'm getting the following exception in my Microsoft Web Deploy log on the destination server: User: Client IP: 192.168.62.174 Content-Type: application/msdeploy Version: 9.0.0.0 MSDeploy.VersionMin: 7.1.600.0 MSDeploy.VersionMax: 9.0.1631.0 MSDeploy.Method: Sync MSDeploy.RequestId: c060c823-cdb4-4abe-8294-5ffbdc327d2e MSDeploy.RequestCulture: en-US MSDeploy.RequestUICulture: en-US ServerVersion: 9.0.1631.0 Skip: objectName="^configProtectedData$" Provider: auto, Path: A tracing deployment agent exception occurred that was propagated to the client. • NSURL URLWithString: raises exception

    - by Stephen Darlington
In short, [NSURL URLWithString:] appears to be raising an exception. According to the documentation "If the string was malformed, returns nil." There is no mention of an exception being raised under any circumstance. In addition to this, I am both encoding the URL and checking for nil before converting the string to a URL. Can anyone offer any advice as to which exception it could be or what other error checking I should be doing before converting the URL? In case you're interested in the details, the calling code looks like this: NSString* tmpText = [newUrl stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; if (tmpText == nil) { // error handling } else { NSURL* tmpURL = [NSURL URLWithString:tmpText]; And this is a section from the crash report download from iTunes Connect: 8 libobjc.A.dylib 0x300c1f84 objc_exception_throw 9 CoreFoundation 0x3029a598 +[NSException raise:format:arguments:] 10 CoreFoundation 0x3029a538 +[NSException raise:format:] 11 Foundation 0x30696dde -[NSURL initWithString:relativeToURL:] 12 Foundation 0x30696cd8 +[NSURL URLWithString:relativeToURL:] 13 Foundation 0x30696cae +[NSURL URLWithString:] 14 Yummy 0x000146ca -[DeliciousPostCell setUrl:] + 46 It seems that the URL was in a "bad" format somehow but that should really be returning a nil not an exception. I have never seen the exception being raised myself so I can't use XCode to trap the code and see what's happening. And the user(s) that experienced the problem never contacted me directly so I can't ask for more details. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Update (14/7/2009): Seems like such a hack, but I added an exception block around the suspect line. I also raised a Radar bug report (#7031551) suggesting that the code should match the documentation.

  • How to fix security exception when using recaptcha on MVC site

    - by camainc
I followed this excellent blog post to implement recaptcha on my MVC site: http://devlicio.us/blogs/derik_whittaker/archive/2008/12/02/using-recaptcha-with-asp-net-mvc.aspx I converted the code to VB, and everything seems to compile ok. However, when the code gets to the place where the recapture is about to be generated, I get a security exception. Here is the function where the exception occurs (on the last line in the function): <Extension()> _ Public Function GenerateCaptcha(ByVal htmlHelper As HtmlHelper) As MvcHtmlString Dim captchaControl As New Recaptcha.RecaptchaControl With captchaControl .ID = "recaptcha" .Theme = "blackglass" .PublicKey = "6Lcv9AsAAAAAALCSZNRfWFmrKjw2AR-yuZAL84Bd" .PrivateKey = "6Lcv9AsAAAAAAHCbRujWcZzrY0z6G_HIMvFyYEPR" End With Dim htmlWriter As New HtmlTextWriter(New IO.StringWriter) captchaControl.RenderControl(htmlWriter) Return MvcHtmlString.Create(htmlWriter.InnerWriter.ToString()) End Function The exception is this: Security Exception Description: The application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy. To grant this application the required permission please contact your system administrator or change the application's trust level in the configuration file. Exception Details: System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed. Has anyone else seen this exception, and if so, how did you fix it? Thanks

  • How to throw meaningful data in exceptions ?

    - by ZeroCool
I would like to throw exceptions with meaningful explanation ! I thought of using variable arguments worked fine but lately I figured out it's impossible to extend the class in order to implement other exception types. So I figured out using an std::ostreamstring as a an internal buffer to deal with formatting ... but doesn't compile! I guess it has something to deal with copy constructors. Anyhow here is my piece of code: class Exception: public std::exception { public: Exception(const char *fmt, ...); Exception(const char *fname, const char *funcname, int line, const char *fmt, ...); //std::ostringstream &Get() { return os_ ; } ~Exception() throw(); virtual const char *what() const throw(); protected: char err_msg_[ERRBUFSIZ]; //std::ostringstream os_; }; The variable argumens constructor can't be inherited from! this is why I thought of std::ostringstream! Any advice on how to implement such approach ?

  • why the exception is not caught?

    - by Álvaro García
I have the following code: List<MyEntity> lstAllMyRecords = miDbContext.MyEntity.ToList<MyEntity>(); foreach MyEntity iterator in lstMainRecord) { tasks.Add( TaskEx.Run(() => { try { checkData(lstAllMyRecords.Where(n => n.IDReference == iterator.IDReference).ToList<MyEntity>()); } catch CustomRepository ex) { //handle my custom repository } catch (Exception) { throw; } }) ); }//foreach Task.WaitAll(tasks.ToArray()); I get all the records from my data base and in the foreach loop, I group all the records that have the same IDReference. Thenk I check if the data is correct with the method chekData. The checkData method throw a custom exception if something is wrong. I would like to catch this exception to handle it. But the problem is that with this code the exceptions are not caught and all seem to work without errors, but I know that this is not true. I try to check only one group of records that I know that has problems. If I check only one group of registrers, the loop is execute once and then only task is created. In this case the exception is caught, but if I have many groups, then any exception s thrwon. Why when I only have one task the exception is caught and with many groups are not? Thanks.

  • BES - BlackBerry exception to policy Disable Third Party Software Downloads

    - by ICTdesk.net
Hi everybody, Running BES 5.0, with an Salesforce Mobile application push. Works fine. We don't want the users to download and install other applications, so we disable this by a BES policy (disable Third Party Software Downloads). But when we disable this, the application push does not work anymore. Does anybody know/have experience with making an exception for certain applications or an exception for applications that are provided by application push from the BES? Thank you, kindest regards, Marcel

  • SharePoint 2010: CheckSuspiciousPhysicalPath exception

    - by Tommy Jakobsen
I just installed SharePoint 2010 on my Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 server with SQL Server 2008. Everything is installed on this single server, and I configured SharePoint 2010 as described here: http://sharepoint.microsoft.com/blogs/fromthefield/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=112 Everything installed correct, and the SQL databases were created. But when I try to access the administration site through http://server:47632/_admin/adminconfigintro.aspx, I get the following exception: [HttpException] at System.Web.Util.FileUtil.CheckSuspiciousPhysicalPath(String physicalPath) at System.Web.CachedPathData.GetConfigPathData(String configPath) at System.Web.CachedPathData.GetConfigPathData(String configPath) at System.Web.CachedPathData.GetConfigPathData(String configPath) at System.Web.HttpContext.GetFilePathData() at System.Web.Configuration.CustomErrorsSection.GetSettings(HttpContext context, Boolean canThrow) at System.Web.HttpResponse.ReportRuntimeError(Exception e, Boolean canThrow, Boolean localExecute) at System.Web.HttpRuntime.FinishRequest(HttpWorkerRequest wr, HttpContext context, Exception e) The same error occurs when accessing http://server:47632/. Do you have any ideas whats causing this? I haven't been able to find anything about this issue. Edit 1: I just tried reinstalling SharePoint 2010 while monitoring the error log. • Is Ogre's use of Exceptions a good way of using them?

    - by identitycrisisuk
I've managed to get through my C++ game programming career so far virtually never touching exceptions but recently I've been working on a project with the Ogre engine and I'm trying to learn properly. I've found a lot of good questions and answers here on the general usage of C++ exceptions but I'd like to get some outside opinions from here on whether Ogre's usage is good and how best to work with them. To start with, quoting from Ogre's documentation of it's own Exception class: OGRE never uses return values to indicate errors. Instead, if an error occurs, an exception is thrown, and this is the object that encapsulates the detail of the problem. The application using OGRE should always ensure that the exceptions are caught, so all OGRE engine functions should occur within a try{} catch(Ogre::Exception& e) {} block. Really? Every single Ogre function could throw an exception and be wrapped in a try/catch block? At present this is handled in our usage of it by a try/catch in main that will show a message box with the exception description before exiting. This can be a bit awkward for debugging though as you don't get a stack trace, just the function that threw the error - more important is the function from our code that called the Ogre function. If it was an assert in Ogre code then it would go straight to the code in the debugger and I'd be able to find out what's going on much easier - I don't know if I'm missing something that would allow me to debug exceptions already? I'm starting to add a few more try/catch blocks in our code now, generally thinking about whether it matters if the Ogre function throws an exception. If it's something that will stop everything working then let the main try/catch handle it and exit the program. If it's not of great importance then catch it just after the function call and let the program continue. One recent example of this was building up a vector of the vertex/fragment program parameters for materials applied to an entity - if a material didn't have any parameters then it would throw an exception, which I caught and then ignored as it didn't need to add to my list of parameters. Does this seem like a reasonable way of dealing with things? Any specific advice for working with Ogre is much appreciated.

When running sudo port install db46 I get the following error: ---> Computing dependencies for db46 ---> Fetching db46 ---> Attempting to fetch patch.4.6.21.1 from http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/berkeley-db/db/update/4.6.21/ ---> Attempting to fetch patch.4.6.21.2 from http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/berkeley-db/db/update/4.6.21/ ---> Attempting to fetch patch.4.6.21.3 from http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/berkeley-db/db/update/4.6.21/ ---> Attempting to fetch patch.4.6.21.4 from http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/berkeley-db/db/update/4.6.21/ ---> Attempting to fetch db-4.6.21.tar.gz from http://distfiles.macports.org/db4/4.6.21_6 ---> Verifying checksum(s) for db46 ---> Extracting db46 ---> Applying patches to db46 ---> Configuring db46 ---> Building db46 Error: Target org.macports.build returned: shell command " cd "/opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_databases_db46/work/db-4.6.21/build_unix" && /usr/bin/make -j2 all " returned error 2 Command output: ../dist/../libdb_java/db_java_wrap.c:9464: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'void' ../dist/../libdb_java/db_java_wrap.c:9487: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'jlong' ../dist/../libdb_java/db_java_wrap.c:9509: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'void' ../dist/../libdb_java/db_java_wrap.c:9532: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'jlong' ../dist/../libdb_java/db_java_wrap.c:9563: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'jint' ../dist/../libdb_java/db_java_wrap.c:9588: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'jlong' ../dist/../libdb_java/db_java_wrap.c:9613: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'jint' ../dist/../libdb_java/db_java_wrap.c:9638: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'void' ../dist/../libdb_java/db_java_wrap.c:9666: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'jlong' ../dist/../libdb_java/db_java_wrap.c:9691: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'jlong' ../dist/../libdb_java/db_java_wrap.c:9716: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'void' ../dist/../libdb_java/db_java_wrap.c:9739: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'void' ../dist/../libdb_java/db_java_wrap.c:9771: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'void' ../dist/../libdb_java/db_java_wrap.c:9796: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'void' ../dist/../libdb_java/db_java_wrap.c:9819: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'void' ../dist/../libdb_java/db_java_wrap.c:9842: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'void' ../dist/../libdb_java/db_java_wrap.c:9867: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'jobject' ../dist/../libdb_java/db_java_wrap.c:9899: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'void' ../dist/../libdb_java/db_java_wrap.c:9920: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'void' ../dist/../libdb_java/db_java_wrap.c:9943: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'void' ../dist/../libdb_java/db_java_wrap.c:9966: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'jstring' ../dist/../libdb_java/db_java_wrap.c:9991: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'jint' ../dist/../libdb_java/db_java_wrap.c:10010: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'void' ../dist/../libdb_java/db_java_wrap.c:10046: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'void' ../dist/../libdb_java/db_java_wrap.c:10071: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'void' make: *** [db_java_wrap.lo] Error 1 make: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs.... • IIS crashes with unhandled exception in ASP.NET

    - by SnowCrash
We had an issue recently with an unhandled exception in an ASP.NET C# application bringing down IIS and all application pools that it was hosting. IIS Manager was unable to restart or stop/start the service and I was unable start IIS again after killing w3wp.exe in the task manager. A system reboot restored IIS to a running state; as a primarily Linux admin, I generally consider an unplanned system reboot to resolve a software error to be an act of high heresy. Is there a way to "harden" IIS so that a faulting application does not affect anything but the request that exposes the fault? Some details on the server and application fault. IIS: 7.5 .NET: 4.0 Windows Server 2008 R2 Faulted on call to System.Net.Dns.Resolve() with a url pointing to a non-existant domain as the argument. (I'm aware that this method is deprecated but the point that a page code issue shouldn't bring down the server still stands) The exception generated was SocketException. The faulting module according to event viewer was KERNELBASE.dll The issue was resolved by wrapping the call in a try-catch, logging the exception and displaying some generic content on the page. I'm hoping that I missed something in the IIS config that would switch it to "production" mode or something.

  • Can't download updates for reinstalled Office 2000 on WinXP OS "expected version not found" error message

    - by mpmadigan
I replaced HD and reinstalled WinXP Pro and successfully downloaded all of the service packs and security updates. I've reinstalled my licensed version of Office 2000 (upgrade version from Office 97). The software installs and is functional; but when trying to install updates SR-1 or SR-1a or any individual security update I get error message "expected version of product not found". Microsoft no longer provides support for this legacy version of office. I can't find any support documents in Microsoft's database that addresses this issue. This is my sister's computer and I've already come out-of-pocket $100 for hardware (not counting the $$hours of labor). She only uses MS Word for minimal correspondence. No desire to spend $100+ for new version of Office. I would greatly appreciate any suggested fixes for this problem.

  • Cutting and pasting in MS Word: hourglass pops and it takes longer than expected

    - by Rax Olgud
I work with MS Word 2007. Today I created a new document, and for some reason cutting and pasting text (using Ctrl-X and Ctrl-V) takes longer than expected. To clarify, here's the process: I select a single word in the document I click Ctrl-X The hourglass shows up for 1-2 seconds The word is cut The same happens for pasting (i.e. 1-2 seconds of hourglass). This document is ~5 pages long, with nothing fancy. I have plenty of available RAM and my CPU usage is around 1-2%, there's not peak during the cut/paste. Any thoughts on what can cause this and what I can do against it?

  • Microsoft CA certificate templates expires sooner than expected

    - by Tim Brigham
The certificates my Microsoft CA is generating do not match the time period indicated in the template used. How can I resolve this? I recently created a new certificate template for use on my Linux boxes on my Microsoft CA (2008 R2 Enterprise). This template is approved for server and client authentication purposes with a validity period of 10 years - the expected lifetime of our Linux boxes - and the subject name supplied in the request. I have checked both the intermediate and offline CA - both have more than 10 years of life listed. Is there some kind of hard limit I'm hitting here?

  • Slow upload to Server 2008 DC, Downloads work as expected

    - by Anthony
I have a Windows Server 2008 Domain Controller that I run as a do-it-all server. It has a GbE connection to the network and to every machine on the network. Downloads from the server file shares work as expected, between 70MB/s and 80MB/s to all the machines. However, when I try to copy files back up to the server, speeds fall to 7MB/s-10MB/s. I've disabled flow control and large send offload properties on all the NICs. I had this problem before and managed to fix it through some properties changes, but like an idiot, I never documented my fix and have since moved to a new server. Any ideas what I need to do to get the speeds to be more symmetric? EDIT: Remote differential compression is also disabled.

  • ACL permissions not behaving as expected

    - by Yarin
I set the following ACL on my web directory: setfacl -R -d -m mask:002 /var/www and then created a file as root that I expected to be readable by the default (apache) group. -rw--w-r--+ 1 root apache 0 Dec 17 22:32 newfile.py When I run getfacl on the file, I get: # file: newfile.py # owner: root # group: apache user::rw- group::rwx #effective:-w- mask::-w- other::r-- I'm not sure how to read this- but all I know is that the webserver is throwing a permissions error because apache can't read the file. Can anyone explain what is going on here?
