  • Enable RFC1323 on a per socket basis in Windows?

    - by Sheado
Howdy.. Anybody know if it's possible to enable RFC1323 on a per TCP socket basis in windows? I know it can be changed system wide via the registry ( http://www.psc.edu/networking/projects/tcptune/OStune/winxp/winxp_stepbystep.html ) Also, it seems like this is possible *nix via: int on=1; setsockopt(s,IPPROTO_TCP,TCP_RFC1323,&on,sizeof(on)); Is there a Windows equivalent? Thanky much!

  • How to develop a client-server seat booking program via java socket programming ?

    - by Haxed
I have a project to develop a client server application in java. This is to be done using socket programming. Our lecturer, used 2 files, the TCPClient.java and TCPServer.java, to make a connection and we typed "Hi" in the client and the server displayed that message. I need to develop a seat booking application. Any suggestions for tutorials or tips or a book perhaps would be nice. Many Thanks

  • Socket.io - Tutorials? Better docs?

    - by mattbasta
I've been toying around with nodejs for some of my COMET stuff and stumbled across Socket.io. Unfortunately, the documentation is fairly lacking and there is only one "real" example. Is anyone familiar with some decent tutorials on some of the intricacies of this library? Maybe just some better docs? I'd really like to use it, but I'm probably going to avoid it if I can't figure how to use it properly.

  • Perl not closing TCP sockets if clients are no longer connected?

    - by LM
    The purpose of the application is to listen for a specific UDP multicast and then to forward the data to any TCP clients connected to the server. The code works fine, but I have a problem with the sockets not closing after the TCP clients disconnects. A socketsniffer utility shows the the sockets remain open and all the UDP data continues to be forwarded to the clients. The problem I believe is with the "if ($write-connected())" block as it always return true, even if the TCP client is no longer connected. I use standard Windows Telnet to connect to the server and to see the data. When I close telnet, the TCP socket is suppose to close on the server. Any reason why connected() show the connections as active even if they are not? Also, what alternative should I use then? Code: #!/usr/bin/perl use IO::Socket::Multicast; use IO::Socket; use IO::Select; my $tcp_port = "4550"; my $tcp_socket = IO::Socket::INET->new( Listen => SOMAXCONN, LocalAddr => '0.0.0.0', LocalPort => $tcp_port, Proto => 'tcp', ReuseAddr => 1, ); use Socket qw(IPPROTO_TCP TCP_NODELAY); setsockopt( $tcp_socket, IPPROTO_TCP, TCP_NODELAY, 1); use constant GROUP => '239.2.0.81'; use constant PORT => '6550'; my $udp_socket= IO::Socket::Multicast->new(Proto=>'udp',LocalPort=>PORT); $udp_socket->mcast_add(GROUP) || die "Couldn't set group: $!\n"; my $read_select = IO::Select->new(); my $write_select = IO::Select->new(); $read_select->add($tcp_socket); $read_select->add($udp_socket); ## Loop forever, reading data from the UDP socket and writing it to the ## TCP socket(s). while (1) { ## No timeout specified (see docs for IO::Select). This will block until a TCP ## client connects or we have data. my @read = $read_select->can_read(); foreach my $read (@read) { if ($read == $tcp_socket) { ## Handle connect from TCP client. Note that UDP connections are ## stateless (no accept necessary)... my $new_tcp = $read->accept(); $write_select->add($new_tcp); } elsif ($read == $udp_socket) { ## Handle data received from UDP socket... my $recv_buffer; $udp_socket->recv($recv_buffer, 1024, undef); ## Write the data read from UDP out to the TCP client(s). Again, no ## timeout. This will block until a TCP socket is writable. my @write = $write_select->can_write(); foreach my $write (@write) { ## Make sure the socket is still connected before writing. if ($write->connected()) { $write->send($recv_buffer); } else { $write_select->remove($write); close $write; } } } } }

  • Copy File Contiguously to Disk from OSX/Unix/Linux to FAT32 FS?

    - by alharaka
So the Sysinternals guys have that cool contig.exe utility that allows me ensure a file is contiguous. I need to copy overs ISO files to a FAT32 USB flash key. Grub4DOS requires the files be continuous, but I do not have Windows access at the moment. Is there a way to copy a file so it is contiguous on the target drive, or a tool like the aforementioned that will make an existing file contiguous. Again, I need it on FAT32, and there lies the rub.

  • Is there any er diagram tool in Windows that I can use to connect to a MySQL 4.1 database in Unix?

    - by melaos
I have a few test databases in some Unix SUSE 8 servers and initially the plan was to find some tools which can directly create the ERD straight from the server until someone told me that I can find tools to connect from the Windows PC straight to the Unix MySQL database. So I saw MySQL query analyzer which can do this but unfortunately there are no options to create an ERD. So are there any tools, preferably open source or free which can do this? I've done some basic googling but didn't know what is the exact terms to use to search for this and have so far found nothing useful yet. Updates: I just found out that the latest version of workbench doesn't work MySQL 4.1 Enterprise Edition which is the version that I have! And I try to use fabFORCE DBDesigner but I can't even connect at all using that one :( What can work for this version of MySQL?

  • Working of trashcan utility in tru64 Unix server.. or any other utility??

    - by RBA
Hi, I used this mktrashcan command mktrashcan deleteMe1 trashcan/ And then i Deleted all the contents inside deleteMe1 directory(rm -rf*).. But then what happend is only the two text files which are inside the deleteMe1(deleteMe2.txt, deleteMe3.txt) directory were moved into the trashcan folder.. Rest of the directories and files inside the directories were not foundd!! Isn't there any other way, so that whatever is deleted, moves exactly the same way to the trashcan directory??? Or is there Any Other Utility that can perform the same task but in advance way.. mkdir deleteMe1 mkdir deleteMe1/deleteMe2 mkdir deleteMe1/deleteMe3 touch ./deleteMe1/deleteMe2/deleteMe4.txt touch ./deleteMe1/deleteMe2/deleteMe5.txt touch ./deleteMe1/deleteMe3/deleteMe6.txt touch ./deleteMe1/deleteMe3/deleteMe7.txt touch ./deleteMe1/deleteMe2.txt touch ./deleteMe1/deleteMe3.txt Thankss..

  • Socket server with multiple clients, sending messages to many clients without hurting liveliness

    - by Karl Johanson
    I have a small socket server, and I need to distribute various messages from client-to-client depending on different conditionals. However I think I have a small problem with livelyness in my current code, and is there anything wrong in my approach: public class CuClient extends Thread { Socket socket = null; ObjectOutputStream out; ObjectInputStream in; CuGroup group; public CuClient(Socket s, CuGroup g) { this.socket = s; this.group = g; out = new ObjectOutputStream(this.socket.getOutputStream()); out.flush(); in = new ObjectInputStream(this.socket.getInputStream()); } @Override public void run() { String cmd = ""; try { while (!cmd.equals("client shutdown")) { cmd = (String) in.readObject(); this.group.broadcastToGroup(this, cmd); } out.close(); in.close(); socket.close(); } catch (Exception e) { System.out.println(this.getName()); e.printStackTrace(); } } public void sendToClient(String msg) { try { this.out.writeObject(msg); this.out.flush(); } catch (IOException ex) { } } And my CuGroup: public class CuGroup { private Vector<CuClient> clients = new Vector<CuClient>(); public void addClient(CuClient c) { this.clients.add(c); } void broadcastToGroup(CuClient clientName, String cmd) { Iterator it = this.clients.iterator(); while (it.hasNext()) { CuClient cu = (CuClient)it.next(); cu.sendToClient(cmd); } } } And my main-class: public class SmallServer { public static final Vector<CuClient> clients = new Vector<CuClient>(10); public static boolean serverRunning = true; private ServerSocket serverSocket; private CuGroup group = new CuGroup(); public void body() { try { this.serverSocket = new ServerSocket(1337, 20); System.out.println("Waiting for clients\n"); do { Socket s = this.serverSocket.accept(); CuClient t = new CuClient(s,group); System.out.println("SERVER: " + s.getInetAddress() + " is connected!\n"); t.start(); } while (this.serverRunning); } catch (IOException ex) { ex.printStackTrace(); } } public static void main(String[] args) { System.out.println("Server"); SmallServer server = new SmallServer(); server.body(); } } Consider the example with many more groups, maybe a Collection of groups. If they all synchronize on a single Object, I don't think my server will be very fast. I there a pattern or something that can help my liveliness?

  • Can I install WhizzyTeX for Emacs on a Mac (is Mac OS X a unix environment)?

    - by Vivi
I think my question is pretty stupid, but here it goes: I am using Aquamacs, and I want to install the WhizzyTeX mode. The website for WhizzyTeX says that "it is designed for Unix platforms". I read that Mac OS X is unix certified, but does that mean I can install WhizzyTeX on my mac? If yes, can I install and use it with Aquamacs or do I have to use the Emacs running from the terminal? PS: I don't know whether this question should be posted here or on SuperUser, but as Emacs users seem to hang out here more often, this is the place I chose. EDIT: There are some websites saying I can use WhizzyTeX with Carbon Emacs on mac os x, but some places say I cannot (see for example this pdf document, page 27, which says that "* whizzytex: http://cristal.inria.fr/whizzytex/ mode in latex with ocaml good fo linux, should also work in cygwin, doe not work on osx"). So I am really confused...

  • Async Socket Listener on separate thread - VB.net

    - by TheHockeyGeek
I am trying to use the code from Microsoft for an Async Socket connection. It appears the listener runs in the main thread locking the GUI. I am new at both socket connections and multi-threading all at the same time. Having a hard time getting my mind wrapped around this all at once. The code used is at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/fx6588te.aspx Using this example, how can I move the listener to its own thread? Public Shared Sub Main() ' Data buffer for incoming data. Dim bytes() As Byte = New [Byte](1023) {} ' Establish the local endpoint for the socket. Dim ipHostInfo As IPHostEntry = Dns.GetHostEntry(Dns.GetHostName()) Dim ipAddress As IPAddress = ipHostInfo.AddressList(1) Dim localEndPoint As New IPEndPoint(ipAddress, 11000) ' Create a TCP/IP socket. Dim listener As New Socket(AddressFamily.InterNetwork, SocketType.Stream, ProtocolType.Tcp) ' Bind the socket to the local endpoint and listen for incoming connections. listener.Bind(localEndPoint) listener.Listen(100)

  • How to FTP multiple folders to another server using mput in Unix?

    - by Mircea
I am logged in on a server (using Putty). from there I'm connecting using FTP to another server. I want to copy several folders from the first server to the second server using mput. Like: ftp mput folder1 folder2 folder3 But I get "folder1: not a plain file."...and so on. Each of these folders have subfolders, files (some binary, some not). How can I accomplish what I want without zipping the stuff and then transfer? Thanks.

  • python sending incomplete data over socket

    - by tipu
I have this socket server script, import SocketServer import shelve import zlib class MyTCPHandler(SocketServer.BaseRequestHandler): def handle(self): self.words = shelve.open('/home/tipu/Dropbox/dev/workspace/search/words.db', 'r'); self.tweets = shelve.open('/home/tipu/Dropbox/dev/workspace/search/tweets.db', 'r'); param = self.request.recv(1024).strip() try: result = str(self.words[param]) except KeyError: result = "set()" self.request.send(str(result)) if __name__ == "__main__": HOST, PORT = "localhost", 50007 SocketServer.TCPServer.allow_reuse_address = True server = SocketServer.TCPServer((HOST, PORT), MyTCPHandler) server.serve_forever() And this receiver, from django.http import HttpResponse from django.template import Context, loader import shelve import zlib import socket def index(req, param = ''): HOST = 'localhost' PORT = 50007 s = socket.socket(socket.AF_INET, socket.SOCK_STREAM) s.connect((HOST, PORT)) s.send(param) data = zlib.decompress(s.recv(131072)) s.close() print 'Received', repr(data) t = loader.get_template('index.html') c = Context({ 'foo' : data }) return HttpResponse(t.render(c)) I am sending strings to the receiver that are in the hundreds of kilobytes. I end up only receiving a portion of it. Is there a way that I can fix that so that the whole string is sent?

  • How do I move a linked file on Unix?

    - by r3mbol
I have a bunch of files in one directory and links to each one of those files in another directory. So ls -l looks something like this: lrwxrwxrwx 1 rembol rembol 89 Jan 25 10:00 copyright.txt -> /home/rembol/solr/target/deploy/data/core/copyright.txt lrwxrwxrwx 1 rembol rembol 92 Jan 25 10:00 jar-versions.xml -> /home/rembol/solr/target/deploy/data/core/jar-versions.xml lrwxrwxrwx 1 rembol rembol 85 Jan 25 10:00 lgpl.html -> /home/rembol/solr/target/deploy/data/core/lgpl.html lrwxrwxrwx 1 rembol rembol 79 Jan 25 10:00 lib -> /home/rembol/solr/target/deploy/data/core/lib lrwxrwxrwx 1 rembol rembol 87 Jan 25 10:00 readme.html -> /home/rembol/solr/target/deploy/data/core/readme.html drwxr-xr-x 3 rembol rembol 4096 Jan 25 10:00 server drwxr-xr-x 2 rembol rembol 4096 Jan 25 10:00 startup Now I want to move those linked files from /home/rembol/solr/target/deploy to /home/rembol/output/. If I do that my simply calling mv, links will break. I don't want to re-link each file separately, cause there are hundreds of them (they are generated automatically). Is there some clever way to move linked files, rather than writing a script that unlinks, moves and relinks recursively for each file in each subdirectory?

  • Perl to output processed XML file encoded as UTF-8 with UNIX line endings (in Win32 environment)?

    - by Umber Ferrule
Running ActiveState Perl 5.8.8 on WinXP. As the title suggests, I'd like to output an XML file as UTF-8 with UNIX line endings. I've looked at the PerlDoc for binmode, but am unsure of the exact syntax (if I'm not barking up the wrong tree). The following doesn't do it (forgive my Perl - it's a learning process!): sub SaveFile { my($FileName, $Contents) = @_; my $File = "SAVE"; unless( open($File, ">:utf-8 :unix", $FileName) ) { die("Cannot open $FileName"); } print $File @$Contents; close($File); } Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • IO redirect engine with metadata

    - by hawk.hsieh
Is there any C library or tool to redirect IO and be able to configured by a metadata. And provide a dynamic link library to perform custom process for feeding data into next IO. For example, network video recorder: record video: socket do_something() file preview video: socket do_something() PCI device http service: download file: socket do_something(http) file socket post file: socket do_something(http) file serial control: monitor device: uart do_something(custom protocol) popen("zip") socket I know the unix-like OS has IO redirect feature and integrate all application you want. Even socket IO you can use /dev/tcp or implement a process to redirect to stdout. But this is process based , the process's foot print is big , IPC is heavy. Therefore, I am looking for something to redirect IO in a process and the data redirect between IO is configurable with a metadata (XML,jason or others).
