  • How to read changed values with native query during one transaction? (Spring and JPA)

    We have container transaction with Spring and JPA (Hibernate). I need to make an update on a table to "flag" some rows via native statements. Then we insert some rows via EntityManager from JPATemplate to this table. After that, we need to calculate changes in the table via native statement (with Oracle's union and minus, complex groups...) I see that changes from step 1 and 2 are not commited and thats why the statement from 3 fails. I already tried with transaction propagation REQUIRES_NEW, EntityManager.flush... Didn't work. 1) update SOMETABLE acolumn = somevalue (native) 2) persist some values into SOMETABLE (via entity manager) 3) select values from SOMETABLE Is there a possibility to read the changes from step 1 and 2 in step 3?

This is because I use the above definitions for a(1),a(2),b(1),b(2) in about 20 functions in my module and would like to avoid having to do the following in each function that I use thesis in: a(1) = X1 + X2 a(2) = X1/X2 b(1) = X1 b(2) = X2^2

    I have two tables invoices and pending_payments both of which have the following rows in common: invoice_id and balance. I want to do a select in MySQL that'll work thus: [pseudo-code] if(invoice_id exists in pending_payments table) { select balance from pending_payments where invoice_id = yadayadayada } else { select balance from invoices where invoice_id = yadayadayada } Is this even doable in MySQL? If so, how?

    Im trying to parse an xml feed that looks something like this: <item> <title>item title</title> <link>item link</link> <description>item description</description> </item> I'm trying to find an xpath expression that will retrieve all the details of each item so that each item in the feed is contained within its own array or grouped in some way. I tried using //item/* but the tags are not grouped, although they are correctly ordered. Is there anyway of doing that? edit: [ [title1, link1, desc1], [title2, link2, desc2], [title3, link3, desc3] ]

On page 116, exercise 11, you should right-shift an integer through all its binary positions and display each position with Integer.toBinaryString. public static void main(String[] args) { int i = 8; System.out.println(Integer.toBinaryString(i)); int maxIterations = Integer.toBinaryString(i).length(); int j; for (j = 1; j < maxIterations; j++) { i >>= 1; System.out.println(Integer.toBinaryString(i)); } In the solution guide the output looks like this: 1000 1100 1110 1111 When i run this code i get this: 1000 100 10 1 What is going on here. Are the digits cut off? I am using jdk1.6.0_20 64bit. The book uses jdk1.5 32bit.

    So I have a series of global functions, say: foo_f1(int a, int b, char *c); foo_f2(int a); foo_f3(char *a); I want to make a C++ wrapper around these, something like: MyFoo::f1(int a, int b, char* c); MyFoo::f2(int a); MyFoo::f3(char* a); There's about 40 functions like this, 35 of them I just want to pass through to the global function, the other 5 I want to do something different with. Ideally the implementation of MyFoo.cpp would be something like: PASSTHRU( f1, (int a, int b, char *c) ); PASSTHRU( f2, (int a) ); MyFoo::f3(char *a) { //do my own thing here } But I'm having trouble figuring out an elegant way to make the above PASSTHRU macro. What I really need is something like the mythical X getArgs() below: MyFoo::f1(int a, int b, char *c) { X args = getArgs(); args++; //skip past implicit this.. ::f1(args); //pass args to global function } But short of dropping into assembly I can't find a good implementation of getArgs().

  • How do you open a second WPF window without creating a new one.

    In the program I am trying to build, I have a menu button that opens a second window. The user puts information into the second window, presses the "Done" button, and the information is transfered into the main window. The problem I am having is opening the second window. I have both windows build in xaml files in Visual Studio but I can't find a way to show the second window. Using "Window window = new Window" does not fit my needs because 1) I already have the second window built and 2) I have tried this and I cannot figure out how to add children to the window; there is no window.children nor any grid to put the children into.   • Is there a way to have one project build another in Visual Studio?

    We are finally getting a source control system in place at work and I've been in charge of setting it up. I've read that it's usually good practice to not include binaries in source control so I haven't. However, we have two all-purpose utility projects (each in their own solution) that generate utility .dll's which are included in almost all of our other projects (all each in their own separate solutions). We add references to the utility dll from our projects. I would like to have our solutions set up in such a way that if the reference dll isn't built, the solution will build the dll for itself, much in the same way a make file checks for its dependencies and builds them when they're out of date or missing. I'm new to build processes with VS so try to keep the answers simple. Any links to general build process overview tutorials would be great too. Googleing for VS references returns a bunch of how-to add references links which is not exactly what I want.

    Dear ladies and sirs. I want to change the primary key of an entity in database, so that all the relevant foreign key constraints are updated as well./We are using NHibenate as our ORM. Is it possible to do it? Thanks. P.S. I know the practice of changing the primary key is highly discouraged. My problem is that my primary key is backed by a natural Id of the entity, which may sometimes change. We could, theoretically, utilize a unique primary key, unrelated to the natural key of the entity, but this complicates things too much in other places, so this is not an option.

  • Which one has a faster runtime performance: WPF or Winforms?

    I know WPF is more complex an flexible so could be thought to do more calculations. But since the rendering is done on the GPU, wouldn't it be faster than Winforms for the same application (functionally and visually)? I mean when you are not running any games or heavy 3d rendering, the GPU isn't doing heavy work, right? Whereas the CPU is always busy. Is this a valid assumption or is the GPU utilization of WPF a very minor operation in its pipeline?

    I using servlet and Apache ServletFileUpload that provides stream to uploaded image. All I want to do is to store that image to db and also store resized (I using JAI) version to db. How can I achieve this without saving image to drive. As I understand stream can be read only once. So I need to store whole image in memory? Is it expensive for performance? Or there are another way?
