IKImageView, Buttons work intermittently in 10.5 but ok in 10.6

Hi all, In IB,I have connected some buttons to a IKImageView. Using its received Action 'ZoomIn:', 'ZoomOut:','ZoomImageToActualSize:' When I build for 10.6 I have no issues these work as expected. But in 10.5 (ppc), they sometimes work as expected and sometimes do not. I have even tried it programatically. But I get the same results. It is intermittent with each build after I have made some small change in IB that I need. But not changes that should affect how the view acts. The only buttons that seem to work through out are 'ZoomImageToFit' and the rotate ones. When the do not work as expected, I see no change to the current image in the view, but when my app (/s, I have had this issue before in different apps) changes the image The view reflects the last request from a button. So for example when it does not work. An image is displayed, I click the 'ZoomImageToActualSize:' button, nothing happens. I load a new image and it is displayed at Actual size. Example when it does work. An image is displayed, I click the 'ZoomImageToActualSize:' button, It is displayed at Actual size. By the way, I know I can reset the view default , before I load a new image. Also if I run the 10.5 app in 10.6, it works ok, but as above I get intermittent results with the same build on multible 10.5 machines. Does anyone know what is going on, is this a known bug? Sticky/static variable references in for loops

In this example I create three buttons 'one' 'two' 'three'. In JavaScript, variables inside for-loops seem to be 'static' in the C language sense. Is there some way to create separate variables for each click function, i.e. not using the same reference? Wait until image loads before performing function

I'm trying to create a simple portfolio page. I have a list of thumbs and an image. When you click on a thumb, the image will change. When a thumbnail is clicked, I'd like to have the image fade out, wait until the image is loaded, then fade back in. The problem I have right now is that some of the images are pretty big, so it fades out, then fades back in immediately, sometimes while the image is still loading. I'd like to avoid using setTimeout, since sometimes an image will load faster or slower than the time I set. Problem: How to display a Wordpress RSS feed in a browser that doesn't have a built in RSS reader?

If I can, i'd rather not use a service like FeedBurner. My setup: I've setup a RSS feed link on a self-hosted Wordpress website, clicking the RSS link in Safari shows the feed - because Safari has a built in RSS reader. Great. Unfortunately clicking the same RSS link in Chrome displays the raw XML feed. I know why this happens - Chrome doesn't have a built in RSS reader. I also assume this will be the same in older versions of Internet Explorer. Possible solution? I've noticed http://www.bbc.co.uk/news has a nice solution: Click the RSS feed (top tight of the page) in a RSS enabled browser (Safari) and it uses the built in RSS reader to display the RSS feed. Click the same RSS feed link in Chrome (Chrome has no built in RSS reader) it displays the RSS feed using what looks like a custom page. Is there a way to check if a browser has a built in RSS reader? How would I provide alternative content (like the BBC site) to a browser that doesn't have a RSS reader installed? Any help on this would be brilliant, thanks for taking the time to read this. Stephen

Jquery selectors question

Hi all, I am not an expert at jquery but trying to get a menu to work. Basically, I have a menu made of up to 3 levels of nested lists. The first level has a little arrow has a background image that opens or close when opening the first level list. Any other nested lists don't need to have the background image. My script opens the menu when you click on it and is also supposed to switch the first level list from a class "inactive" to a class "active". Here is the script: $(document).ready(function(){ $("#left-navigation-holder ul.level1 li.inactive").toggle(function(){ $(this).addClass("active"); }, function () { $(this).removeClass("active"); }); $("#left-navigation-holder li a").click(function(){ menu = $(this).parent('li').children('ul'); menu.toggle(); }); }); The problem is that the toggle function also happens when clicking on second and third level lists causing the arrows to toggle even if the first level list isn't clicked on. I thought using $("#left-navigation-holder ul.level1 li.inactive").toggle would limit the function to the first level list with a class "inactive". Any help would be really appreciated. Ben

Stop an executing recursive javascript function

Using jQuery, I've build an image/slide rotator. The basic setup is (in pseudocode): function setupUpSlide(SlideToStartWith){ var thisSlide = SlideToStartWith; ...set things up... fadeInSlide(thisSlide) } function fadeInSlide(thisSlide){ ...fade in this slide... fadeOutSlide(thisSlide) } function fadeOutSlide(thisSlide){ ...fade out this slide... setupUpSlide(nextSlide) } I call the first function and pass in a particular slide index, and then it does its thing calling chain of functions which then, in turn, calls the first function again passing in the next index. This then repeats infinitely (resetting the index when it gets to the last item). This works just fine. What I want to do now is allow someone to over-ride the slide show by being able to click on a particular slide number. Therefore, if slide #8 is showing and I click #3, I want the recursion to stop and then call the initial function passing in slide #3, which then, in turn, will start the process again. But I'm not sure how to go about that. How does one properly 'break' a recursive script. Should I create some sort of global 'watch' variable that if at any time is 'true' will return: false and allow the new function to execute?

Widget host app with custom view - onClick is not triggered in the app widget.

I'm writing an app that will host widgets. The app has custom view (which probably is the source of issue). I obtain AppWidgetHostView like this private AppWidgetHostView widget; ... AppWidgetProviderInfo appWidgetInfo = mAppWidgetManager.getAppWidgetInfo(appWidgetId); widget = mAppWidgetHost.createView(this, appWidgetId, appWidgetInfo); widget.setAppWidget(appWidgetId, appWidgetInfo); mView.addWidget(widget, appWidgetInfo); mView.addWidget() basically just remembers this AppWidgetHostView instance and then draws it directly onto canvas. Visually everything is fine - I can see the actual widget. But the issue is with reacting on UI events. Please advise what needs to be done in the parent view in order to correctly trigger handlers in the widgets like onClick(). Notes: I used standard widgets which normally react on click events. None worked. I also created my own test widget with listener (via views.setOnClickPendingIntent(R.id.appwidget_text, pending);) and onClick() is successfully triggered if the widget is added on Homescreen, but doesn't work in my app. mView correctly detects click event and I tried to call widget.performClick() there, which returns false meaning onClickListener is not registered in the widget. But according to source mAppWidgetHost.createView() would call updateAppWidget which would register its onClick listener.. Please advise where to look at. Thanks

Xcode "Build and Archive" from command line

Xcode 3.2 provides an awesome new feature under the Build menu, "Build and Archive" which generates an .ipa file suitable for Ad Hoc distribution. You can also open the Organizer, go to "Archived Applications," and "Submit Application to iTunesConnect." Is there a way to use "Build and Archive" from the command line (as part of a build script)? I'd assume that xcodebuild would be involved somehow, but the man page doesn't seem to say anything about this. UPDATE Michael Grinich requested clarification; here's what exactly you can't do with command-line builds, features you can ONLY do with Xcode's Organizer after you "Build and Archive." You can click "Share Application..." to share your IPA with beta testers. As Guillaume points out below, due to some Xcode magic, this IPA file does not require a separately distributed .mobileprovision file that beta testers need to install; that's magical. No command-line script can do it. For example, Arrix's script (submitted May 1) does not meet that requirement. More importantly, after you've beta tested a build, you can click "Submit Application to iTunes Connect" to submit that EXACT same build to Apple, the very binary you tested, without rebuilding it. That's impossible from the command line, because signing the app is part of the build process; you can sign bits for Ad Hoc beta testing OR you can sign them for submission to the App Store, but not both. No IPA built on the command-line can be beta tested on phones and then submitted directly to Apple. I'd love for someone to come along and prove me wrong: both of these features work great in the Xcode GUI and cannot be replicated from the command line.

How can i change a jquery plugin's option value with my value?

I have just jquery pagination plugin to work... But what happens is when i click page number 2 i get the first page and when i click 3 i get second page and so on.... My initial page my current page value changes to 0 instead 1 this causes the problem... Event handler triggered twice instead of once

Hi all, I am sorry that I have asked two questions in a few minutes. In a html file, I got three child DIV tags in a parent DIV tag: <div id="container"> <div id="frag-123">123</div> <div id="frag-124">124</div> <div id="frag-125">125</div> </div> Now when I click either the three child DIV tags, I will see two alert boxes pop up instead of one: The first alert box will show something like this: frag-123, and the second alert box will show something like this: container I dont know why. Dynamic Collapsable Flow Chart Online

Been looking through a number of other related posts relating to flowchart software. I have been asked to put together a document outlining some of the typical problems our users encounter with our software product. What I would like to do, is create an interactive/online flowchart that lets users choose from 4-5 overall headings on whats wrong. Then for this to dynamically expand more choices on pinpointing the problem, and so on and so on, until they can get a resolution to their problem. The key thing that I have not been able to find in some of the flowchart software out there, is having the click + expand element. - I dont want all options to appear to the end-user in a huge flow chart as it will distract away from their specific issue. - I want them to be able to click away and go down a specific avenue that will end up giving them some good things to try, based on their decisions/clicks. I was originally thinking of perhaps putting something in Flex or Silverlight (ideally someone would have a template out there) but am now thinking of taking advantage of 3rd party (ideally free) software. This will need to be hosted in a browser. Any ideas?

How to clean completly select2 control?

I'm working with the awesome select2 control. I'm trying to clean and disable the select2 with the content too so I do this: $("#select2id").empty(); $("#select2id").select2("disable"); Ok, it works, but if i had a value selected all the items are removed, the control is disabled, but the selected value is still displayed. I want to clear all content so the placeholder would be showed. jQuery removing elements from DOM put still reporting as present

Hi, I have an address finder system whereby a user enters a postcode, if postcode is validated then an address list is returned and displayed, they then select an address line, the list dissappears and then the address line is split further into some form inputs. The issue i am facing is when they have been through the above process then cleared the postcode form field, hit the find address button and the address list re-appears. Event though the list and parent tr have been removed from the DOM it is still reporting it is present as length 1? Problems updating a textBox ASP.NET

Hello, I'm starting in asp.net and am having some problems that I do not understand. The problem is this, I am building a site for news. Every news has a title and body. I have a page where I can insert news, this page uses a textbox for each of the fields (title and body), after clicking the submit button everything goes ok and saves the values in the database. And o have another page where I can read the news, I use labels for each of the camps, these labels are defined in the Page_Load. Now I'm having problems on the page where I can edit the news. I am loading two textboxes (title and body) in the Page_Load, so far so good, but then when I change the text and I click the submit button, it ignores the changes that I made in the text and saves the text loaded in Page_Load. This code doesn't show any database connection but you can understand what i'm talking about. protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { textboxTitle.Text = "This is the title of the news"; textboxBody.Text = "This is the body of the news "; } I load the page, make the changes in the text , and then click submit. protected void btnSubmit_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { String title = textboxTitle.Text; String body = textboxBody.Text; Response.Write("Title: " + title + " || "); Response.Write("Body: " + body ); } Nothing happens, the text in the textboxes is always the one I loaded in the page_load, how do I update the Text in the textboxes?

Call ASP.NET 2.0 Server side code from Javascript

I'm struggling with this for the past 3 days. I need to call asp.net serverside code from Javascript when the user closes the browser. I'm using the following code to accomplish this. In my asp.net form I have various validation controls. Even if there are some validation errors, When I close the form the server side code works perfectly in my development box(windows 7). But the same code doesnt work in my production environment(windows server). Does it have something to do with the Validation summary or Validation controls. The button control has Causes validation set to false. So even if there is a validation error still my form will post back. Am I correct? I suspect the form is not getting post back to the server when there is a validation error. But i'm disabling all the validation controls in the javascript before calling the button click event. Can someone throw some light on this issue. jQuery carousel clicks update <select> list's "selected" option to match clicked item's title attrib

The code below allows me to change a preview image outside the carousel widget so that it matches the element under the mouse. For example, if the user mouses over image2's thumbnail, the script updates .selectedImage so that it displays image2's full size version. I'd like to enhance it so that the #myThumbs options listing updates its "selected" option to match the carousel image that receives a click. Mouseover changes the preview image and click changes the select list to match the same name. Image overlapping in widget

I am trying to create a widget in android in which when I click over image the image gets changed with a new one -- kind of toggle image. But when I click over it, the image overwrites over the old one rather then replacing the new one. I don't know whether this is the way the widget works or am I doing something wrong. My images are semi-transparent so in case one overrides another one can see the image which is being overlapped. Center DIV via jQuery

I have a footer that is fixed to the bottom of the viewport. I am using jQuery toggle to open a comment card for users to comment and submit: $('a#footer-comment').click(function() { $("#comment-card").toggle(300); return false; $('#comment-card').show({ position:); }); $('a#footer-comment-hide').click(function() { $("#comment-card").toggle(300); return false; $('#comment-card').hide(); }); naturally if i dont add any CSS selectors to #comment-card it shows up UNDER the footer, and out of sight. So i added: {position:absolute; bottom:30px; left:auto;} 30px so it shows up above the footer which is 30px high. Problem is, i can not get this to center in the viewport... if i use pixels, depending on the resolution, it is either too far left or right... how do i center this in the viewport?

jQuery noobie can't make a checked checkbox show an alert.

I found this answer before, to fire an alert if the button is pressed but the checkbox isn't checked.
