• Developing AI for warhammer board game [closed]

  right now I'm going to develop a simple AI for some units for the board game warhammer fantasy. With some simple rules, I've read some things such as http://gamedev.stackexchange.com/questions/21519/complex-game-ai-for-turn-based-strategy-games . I have the robots to move the pieces, the map is just simple(no hills,buildings..) and I need to start to give an AI for the robot to move the pieces. Problem is I have been searching for a long time and can't really find someone that has done something similar with warhammer, and I don't really know where to begin with or which tools I need to use. I would be glad if someone can give me some headsup on how to begin with, or if any programming language is better, not to mention if there is something similar where I could ask for help.

• jQuery setTimeout delay for an element

  Is there an easier way to wait for an element to load ( by independant script/mootools/other ). For example: I am waiting for a google map to load, but I don't want to use its API for checks. So I made two functions: function checkIfexist() { if(jQuery('#container').length) return 0; else reload(1); } function reload(mode) { setTimeout(function(){ do stuff . . . if(mode==1) checkIfexist(); }, 400); } I am starting it with reload(1); Is there an easier way to use setTimeout in such a way? I don't want to use delay, wait or whatever.

• melonJS: Entity and solid block on collision layer

  Actually I have my player entity with 64x64 sprite animation and 18x60 hitbox also the map is maded by 16x16 tiles. When my player goes some way he can pass through blocks (but not all of them). For example there are 4 situations: Good (player can't pass the tile with isSolid property on collision layer) Good (player can't pass the tile with isSolid property on collision layer) Bad (player pass the tile with isSolid property on collision layer) Bad (player pass the tile with isSolid property on collision layer) Looks like melonJS checks only corners of hitbox instead of whole rectangle. Can anyone help me in this situation.

  Of course one big pro is the amount of syntactic sugar leading to shorter code in a lot of cases. On http://jashkenas.github.com/coffee-script/ there are impressive examples. On the other hand I have doubts that these examples represent code of complex real world applications. In my code for instance I never add functions to bare objects but rather to their prototypes. Moreover the prototype feature is hidden from the user, suggesting classical OOP rather than idiomatic Javascript.   We're currently building a new responsive website and while working on the site map figured that we don't want to show certain sections on mobile devices. This can be easily done by hiding the navigation parts using css/media queries. However, trouble is that the hidden sites would still show up in search engines' search results. If a user happens to click on one of these links she might happen to see a badly formatted page as we'd use desktop/tablet only code to show images and video. Is there any way to "influence" to exclude certain pages if the search is done on a mobile device? Do search engines crawl pages once or with a device specific view twice? Could we set a noindex meta tag for a specific device class?

• Function keys on an external keyboard

  So I bought a keyboard for my laptop. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the function key (though I know many people say it's useless). On my laptop, I control volume with the function key and F9-11. How can I get the same functionality on my external keyboard? The advanced keyboard settings don't have an option related to the function key. More specifically, it would be great if I could map it to my 'Menu' key which I'm never going to use. Or is there a way to get full functionality without it?

• Help with off-game tasks

  I love writing video games for fun, and often do that. I noticed, anyway, that most of the times implementing the gameplay itself doesn't take too much time to me (maybe because I already did that plenty times and know what and how to do for most of the things), but when I try to implement off-game stuff I get lost. By off-game I mean what is not gameplay: menus, cutscenes between levels, world map to choose levels, saving and loading status, managing replays ... Only tried to write a few of these a few times, but always failed; that's why I never really completed and distributed a game. Are these common problems? And where should I start to do this? Where could I find some books/guides about such stuff?

• Wireless Connected But No Internet Connection (Ubuntu 12.04)

  I am using same network for 2 days and everything was normal. However, today even though it shows me as connected to the network, I do not have internet connection. If I use ethernet cable instead of wireless, I am still able to connect to the internet. Also my friends are able to connect to the wireless network and they can get internet connection. I did not update or install anything since yesterday. Therefore I do not have any idea why it is happening. • struts2-json-plugin not retrieving json data from action class for Struts-JQuery-Plugin grid

  Hello, Im having an issue getting json working with the struts-jquery-plugin-2.1.0 I have included the struts2-json-plugin-2.1.8.1 in my classpath as well. Im sure that I have my struts-jquery-plugin configured correctly because the grid loads, but doesnt load the data its supposed to get from the action class that has been json'ized. The documentation with the json plugin and the struts-jquery plugin leaves ALOT of gaps that I cant even find with examples/tutorials, so I come to the community at stackoverflow. My action class has a property called gridModel thats a List with a basic POJO called Customer. Customer is a pojo with one property, id. I have a factory that supplies the populated List to the actions List property which i mentioned called gridModel.   I am getting the following warning, which seems to be triggering a subsequent warning and an error. I have been googling like mad, though have not found anything that makes it clear what it is I should do to resolve this. This issue occurs when I execute an Ant build. I am trying to migrate our project to Java 7. I have changed all the source='1.6' and target="1.6" to 1.7. I did find this related article: Forward compatible Java 6 annotation processor and SupportedSourceVersion It seems to indicate that I should build the Hibernate annotation processor jar myself, compiling it with with 1.7. It does not seem I should be required to do so. The latest version of the class in question (in hibernate-validator-annotation-processor-5.0.1.Final.jar) has been compiled with 1.6. Since the code in said class refers to SourceVersion.latestSupported(), and the 1.6 of that returns only RELEASE_6, there does not seem to be a generally available solution.
