• asp.net MVC Partial Views how to initialise javascript

  Hi, I have an edit form that uses an ajax form to submit to the controller. Depending on the data submitted I redirect the user to one of two pages (by returning a partial view). Both pages rely on javascript/jquery and neither use anything common between the pages. What is the best way to initialise these javascripts on each page? I know there is the AjaxOption OnComplete but both pages are quite dynamic depending on the Model passed and I would rather keep the javascript for both pages seperate rather than having a common method. • 301 Redirects, and the correct regex to go with it

  Hi Guys, I have several URLs that I want to redirect to the same place, however these are dynamic URLs. The structure is something like this: http://www.mysite.com/declaration/list?[query_string] What I think would be ideal for this situation is to use some regex in my .htaccess file to redirect all these links to the sites home page. I was wondering if someone could help me with the regex for this situation. So far, I have this, but it doesn't work: RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^(.*)$ RewriteRule ^/declaration/list$ http://www.mysite.com/$ [R=301,L] My regex is weak to say the least, something I want to, and am trying to learn.   Hi, I've got a Customer object with a Collection of CustomerContacts IEnumerable Contacts { get; set; } In some other code I'm using Reflection and have the PropertyInfo of Contacts property var contacts = propertyInfo.GetValue(customerObject, null); I know contacts has at least one object in it, but how do I get it out? I don't want to Cast it to IEnumerable because I want to keep my reflection method dynamic. I thought about calling FirstOrDefault() by reflection - but can't do that easily because its an extension method. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

• How do I associate Parameters to Command objects in ADO with VBScript?

  I have been working an ADO VBScript that needs to accept parameters and incorporate those parameters in the Query string that gets passed the the database. I keep getting errors when the Record Set Object attempts to open. If I pass a query without parameters, the recordset opens and I can work with the data. When I run the script through a debugger, the command object does not show a value for the parameter object. It seems to me that I am missing something that associates the Command object and Parameter object, but I do not know what. Here is a bit of the VBScript Code: ... The problem is that the proxied objects can only intercept virtual methods and will return the return type's default value for non-virtual methods. I can tell whether a class is proxied or not based whether the class or any of it's method has an interception attribute, e.g. [Transaction] Is it possible to write a ReSharper 5 structural search that would warn if any non-virtual public methods are defined on a class with an interception attribute. E.g. I can have a function to be run when they are clicked. But i need to pass namelist[i] to the function and it will act according to the namelist parameter.If i do: newItem.setAttribute("oncommand" , finalclick(namelist[m])); it runs the function everytime the popup opens runs the function without even clicking on it on the other hand if i use quotes i.i if i do newItem.setAttribute("oncommand" , "finalclick(namelist[m])"); it doesnot open even on clicking giving error : namelist is not defined.

• Persist url parameter throughout grails app

  Essentially I am looking to have a url query parameter persist throughout the life of the grails application (POST or GET). ex. http://localhost:8080/demo/controller/action/?myParam=foobar I have tried a couple routes. Dynamic method overriding redirect and customizing application tags for createLink. However, since I also use grails webflows it doesn't quite get every single URL. I also tried using a groovy servlet (groovlet) to capture every URL and append the query parameter. The last attempt hasn't been very successful. Am I missing an obvious component to grails? Am I on the right track? Is there another avenue I haven't explored yet? Thanks in advance

• Formatted text encoding in binary plist

  I'm trying to do some scripting that edits a binary plist file. The plist describes the objects contained in a DVD studio pro file. It appears that a text box in DVD studio pro is encoded in the plist as hex data that describes the text string along with its formatting. I can't seem to figure out how to understand this data. Ideally, I'd like to be able to alter the text string but not the formatting. The following seems to describe a text box that says "Menu title here". There are two hex strings, one with the key called "dictionary" and the other called "string"; both are CFData. Any ideas how I can parse this or convert this into a format that I can edit directly? • 'JQuery' is undefined

  I am working on a ASP.net project created with local file system settings. I am using MVC and Jquery. Jquery is working fine when I run the application in debug mode i.e. in ASP.net Development server. I am trying to host the application in IIS 7. In hosted mode, it does not recognize Jquery and gives scripting error 'Jquery is undefined'. The locations of the script files is unchanged in both modes. Can anybody have any clue what can be the reason and how to solve this. • Bash script to log in over SSH

  Sorry if this seems like a dumb question but I am just learning bash scripting. For a school project we need to code an RTX that runs in Unix. It runs as a process in terminal and takes in user input and then prints it to the screen. I want to write a bash script to test that it can respond to lots of quick user input without overflowing or failing. My main problem is that once the RTX starts the bash script will stop on that line until the RTX terminates and only then print the loop to the terminal (instead of printing it to the RTX prompt as I intend it to). I have tried running the RTX in the background but that didn't work. I need to find a way to redirect input to the RTX while it is still running with a bash script. Google searches didn't come up with examples that I understood/could adapt. • XAMPP is caching .html files running as PHP

  I have XAMPP (latest version) installed on my Mac OS 10.6.3 I've added the following to .htaccess because I want .html to be interpreted as PHP. AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .html The problem is that the default XAMPP config seems to be caching .html files as static... so even though the PHP statements inside are being called (for example, 'echo time()' in index.html displays the dynamic output)... the actual file is being cached. When I make changes to a .html file, I've having to restart Apache for it to load the newest changes. Looking at httpd.conf, it looks like it's loading the following cache mods.. LoadModule file_cache_module modules/mod_file_cache.so LoadModule cache_module modules/mod_cache.so LoadModule disk_cache_module modules/mod_disk_cache.so LoadModule mem_cache_module modules/mod_mem_cache.so Any idea how to implement a system whereby it checks the timestamp of the file, before loading it from cache? ISTM that a programming language is defined by two things: Its compiler or interpreter, which defines the syntax and the semantics for the language by fiat, and its standard library, which defines to a large degree the idioms and techniques that skilled users will use when writing code in the language. With a few specific exceptions, (the non-C# members of the .NET family, for example,) most languages' standard libraries are written in that language for two very good reasons: because it will share the same set of syntactical definitions, function calling conventions, and the general "look and feel" of the language, and because the people who are likely to write a standard library for a programming language are its users, and particularly its designer(s). So there's nothing unique there; that's pretty standard. And again, there's nothing unique or unusual about a language's compiler being written in itself. C compilers are written in C. Pascal compilers are written in Pascal. Mono's C# compiler is written in C#. Heck, even some scripting languages have implementations "written in itself". So what does it mean that Lisp is unusual in being written in itself?

  I'm trying to parameterise a search query that uses the LIKE keyword with a wildcard. The original sql has dynamic sql like this: "AND JOB_POSTCODE LIKE '" + isPostCode + "%' " So I've tried this instead, but I get a FormatException: "AND JOB_POSTCODE LIKE @postcode + '%' " Edit: I guess the FormatException isn't going to be coming from Sql Server CE, so as requested, here is how I set the parameter in my C# code. The parameter is set in code like this: command.Parameters.Add("@postcode", SqlDbType.NVarChar).Value = isPostCode; I also tried: "AND JOB_POSTCODE LIKE @postcode" with command.Parameters.Add("@postcode", SqlDbType.NVarChar).Value = isPostCode + "%"; but that doesn't return any results. • How would I go about sharing variables in a class with Lua?

  I'm fairly new to Lua, I've been working on trying to implement Lua scripting for logic in a Game Engine I'm putting together. I've had no trouble so far getting Lua up and running through the engine, and I'm able to call Lua functions from C and C functions from Lua. The way the engine works now, each Object class contains a set of variables that the engine can quickly iterate over to draw or process for physics. While game objects all need to access and manipulate these variables in order for the Game Engine itself to see any changes, they are free to create their own variables, a Lua is exceedingly flexible about this so I don't forsee any issues. Anyway, currently the Game Engine side of things are sitting in C land, and I really want them to stay there for performance reasons. So in an ideal world, when spawning a new game object, I'd need to be able to give Lua read/write access to this standard set of variables as part of the Lua object's base class, which its game logic could then proceed to run wild with. So far, I'm keeping two separate tables of objects in place-- Lua spawns a new game object which adds itself to a numerically indexed global table of objects, and then proceeds to call a C++ function, which creates a new GameObject class and registers the Lua index (an int) with the class. So far so good, C++ functions can now see the Lua object and easily perform operations or call functions in Lua land using dostring. What I need to do now is take the C++ variables, part of the GameObject class, and expose them to Lua, and this is where google is failing me. I've encountered a very nice method here which details the process using tags, but I've read that this method is deprecated in favor of metatables. What is the ideal way to accomplish this? Is it worth the hassle of learning how to pass class definitions around using libBind or some equivalent method, or is there a simple way I can just register each variable (once, at spawn time) with the global lua object? What's the "current" best way to do this, as of Lua 5.1.4?

  I've created an button object in flash. The button contains 2 layers. One is the background image and on top of it is a textField. The textfield is dynamic. I use the button inside a movieclip and I export it in a SWC. The I'm trying to use it in flex.   Hello. I'm looking for a JavaScript library for my web application. The application is very data intensive and has rich form controls (almost windows like). AJAX will be used liberally. The development platform is ASP.Net (mostly ASP.Net MVC will be used). I cannot pursue with ExtJs due to the price/license factor. I checked Qooxdoo but it is very windows-unfriendly. YIU fell short of my needs w.r.t. form controls it offers. Other libraries like jQuery do not offer rich form controls. So I am looking recommendations for a library that satisfies most of following needs: Rich UI controls Solid API for AJAX handling Employs good programming practices for scripting in frontend (preferably OO but not mandatory) Free. Else has only development cost and not production Windows friendly (or at least not unfriendly) Not monolithic. Should be independent (Not have development & production dependencies) Theme'ing should be easy (preferably wrapped by the library) I am not mentioning other basic needs (like browser compatibility). I hope any popular library will honor those.

• How can I link glibc statically with qt

  I have built a static version of qt and download a static version of glibc. Now I would like to link glibc statically to my qt application. I know about going into the .pro and adding the line LIBS += -L path/to/static_lib but I am wondering if these that is enough? Will it still link glibc statically even though the OS I am building on has the dynamic libraries also? The reason I am doing this is to deploy the application in a standalone manner. (After installing and updating Red Hat 5.3 glibc_2.9 was not found on the target computer)

• How do I blur (ios7 style) a section of an image in a UITableViewCell?

  I've got a UIImageView that takes up the whole cell and shows an image. I'd like to blur the bottom third of the view in the iOS7 style (we're targeting iOS7). There will be a label over the blurred part. The issue seems to be that I can't "screenshot" the UIImageView right as I am setting up the cell in tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath: as it hasn't loaded yet. Although i've even tried setting up a timer for a 0.1 second delay and that also doesn't work. I've tried the stuff on http://damir.me/posts/ios7-blurring-techniques I've tried https://github.com/justinmfischer/7blur I'd like to use the new screenshotting API drawViewHierarchyInRect:afterScreenUpdates: I'd also like to use apple's sample code UIImage+ImageEffects The only thing that has worked so far has been to just put a UIToolbar in but the performance is really slow. I don't need dynamic updates. I've managed to get the following effect a few times but it has just tinted the view and hasn't actually blurred anything so I'm a bit confused.

• YUI "Get" utility to parse JSON response?

  The documentation page for the YUI "Get" utility says: Get Utility is ideal for loading your own scripts or CSS progressively (lazy-loading) or for retrieving cross-domain JSON data from sources in which you have total trust. ...but doesn't have any actual examples for how to do so. Their one example doesn't actually request a JSON document from a remote server, but instead a document containing actual JavaScript along with the JSON data. I'm just interested in the JSON response from the Google Maps API HTTP (REST) interface. Because I can't do cross-site scripting with the "Connect" utility, I am trying the "Get" utility. But merely inserting some JSON data into the page isn't going to do anything, of course. I have to assign it to a variable. But how? Also, just inserting JSON data into the page makes Firefox complain that there's a JavaScript error. And understandably! Plain ol' JSON data isn't going to parse as valid JavaScript. Any ideas?

• How can I stop SQL Server Management Studio replacing 'SELECT *' with the column list ?

  SQL Server Mgmt Studio is driving me crazy. If I create a view and SELECT '*' from a table, it's all OK and I can save the view. Looking at the SQL for the view (eg.by scripting a CREATE) reveals that the 'SELECT *' really is saved to the view's SQL. But as soon as I reopen the view using the GUI (right click modify), SELECT * is replaced with a column list of all the columns in the table. How can I stop Management Studio from doing this ? I want my 'SELECT *' to remain just that. Perhaps it's just the difficulty of googling 'SELECT *' that prevented me from finding anything remotely relevant to this (i did put it in double quotes). Please, I am highly experienced in Transact-SQL, so please DON'T give me a lecture on why I shouldn't be using SELECT *. I know all the pros and cons and I do use it at times. It's a language feature, and like all language features can be used for good or evil (I emphatically do NOT agree that it is never appropriate to use it). Edit: I'm giving Marc the answer, since it seems it is not possible to turn this behaviour off. Problem is considered closed. I note that Enterprise Manager did no similar thing. The workaround is to either edit SQL as text, or go to a product other than Managment Studio. Or constantly edit out the column list and replace the * every time you edit a view. Sigh.
