• How to allow to allow admins to edit my app's config files without UAC elevation?

  My company produces a cross-platform server application which loads its configuration from user-editable configuration files. On Windows, config file ACLs are locked down by our Setup program to allow reading by all users but restrict editing to Administrators and Local System only. Unfortunately, on Windows Server 2008, even local administrators no longer have admin privileges (because of UAC) unless they're running an elevated app. This has caused complaints from users who cannot use their favorite text editor to open and save config files changes-- they can open the files (since anyone can read) but can't save. Anyone have recommendations for what we can do (if anything) in our app's Setup to make editing easier for admins on Windows Server 2008? Related questions: if a Windows Server 2008 admin wants to edit an admins-only config file, how does he normally do it? Is he forced to use a text editor which is smart enough to auto-elevate when elevation is needed, like Windows Explorer does in response to access denied errors? Does he launch the editor from an elevated command-prompt window? Something else?

• Awk filtering values between two files when regions intersect (any solutions welcome)

  This is building upon an earlier question Awk conditional filter one file based on another (or other solutions) I have an awk program that outputs a column from rows in a text file 'refGene.txt if values in that row match 2 out of 3 values in another text file. I need to include an additional criteria for finding a match between the two files. The criteria is inclusion if the range of the 2 numberical values specified in each row in file 1 overlap with the range of the two values in a row in refGene.txt. An example of a line in File 1: chr1 10 20 chr2 10 20 and an example line in file 2(refGene.txt) of the matching columns ($3, $5, $ 6): chr1 5 30 Currently the awk program does not treat this as a match because although the first column matches neither the 2nd or 3rd columns do no. But I would like a way to treat this as a match because the region 10-20 in file 1 is WITHIN the range of 5-30 in refGene.txt. However the second line in file 1 should NOT match because the first column does not match, which is necessary. If there is a way to include cases when any of the range in file 1 overlaps with any of the range in refGene.txt that would be really helpful. It should also replace the below conditional statements as it would also find all the cases currently described below. Please let me know if my question is unclear.   Hi, I'm trying to find documentation on how one would go about creating a custom editor plug-in for VS2008 or VS2010. The file syntax I want to edit is from a tool called TemplateMaschine by Stefan Sarstedt. I've looked a little at Eclipse, but I would think code completion won't be an option (also, my Java stinks). Another possibility might be extending the SharpDevelop text editor component. Ideas and suggestions welcome!

  Alright, I have an RSS feed that gets arranged in a UITableView and then the user selects a story and it loads in a UIWebView. However, I'd like to stop using the UIWebView and just use a UITextView or UILabel. This png is what I am trying to do (just display the various text aspects of a news story): http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/2449/screenshot20100315at120.png Let me start off by saying that I have tried to use the usualNSString *myText = [webView stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString:@"document.documentElement.textContent"]; and assign it to a UILabel, but it doesn't work the way that I am implementing it (in webViewDidFinishLoad--is that not correct?) and I get a blank textView and normal webView. If I overlay a UITextView on top of a UIWebView on its own (that is, a webView that just loads one page), the code posted above works fine to display the text I require, but the problem arises when the RSS feed is added into the mix. Ideas and/or help, guys? I've been stuck wondering why this doesn't work as it should for a few days now. If you have a better, more efficient way of doing it then placing the code in webViewDidFinishLoad, please let me know! Does it go in my didSelectRowAtIndexPath? I'm lost here, guys. • Parsing data from txt file in J2ME

  Basically I'm creating an indoor navigation system in J2ME. I've put the location details in a .txt file i.e. Locations names and their coordinates. Edges with respective start node and end node as well as the weight (length of the node). I put both details in the same file so users dont have to download multiple files to get their map working (it could become time consuming and seem complex). So what i did is to seperate the deferent details by typing out location Names and coordinates first, After that I seperated that section from the next section which is the edges by drawing a line with multiple underscores. Now the problem I'm having is parsing the different details into seperate arrays by setting up a command (while manually tokenizing the input stream) to check wether the the next token is an underscore. If it is, (in pseudocode terms), move to the next line in the stream, create a new array and fill it up with the next set of details. I found a some explanation/code HERE that does something similar but still parses into one array, although it manually tokenizes the input. Any ideas on what to do?   I have an app that I'm working on that polls usage from an ISP (Download quota). I've tried threading this via 'new Thread(ThreaProc)' but that didn't work, now trying an IAsyncResult based approach which does the same thing... I've got no idea on how to rectify, please help? • jquery carousel auto scroll with text and image

  I'm using the jquery carousel and I have the image auto rotating here ( http://jsbin.com/unoce/2), so the issue I'm having is the content on the left is not AUTO rotating "with" the image and the arrow selection is not either. It only works when I click the content on the left and then the image on the right along with the arrow move appropriately together. Can someone provide support so I may get the text and the arrow to "auto" rotate with the image?   So I have Image like this I want to get something like this (I hevent drawn all lines I want but I hope you can get my idea) I need algorithm for finding all straight lines on it by just reading colors of pixels. No hard math, no Haar, no Hough. Some algorithm which would be based on points colors. I want to give to algorithm parameters like min line length and max line distortion. I want to get relative to picture pixel coords start and end points of lines. So I need algorithm for finding straight lines of different colors on picture. Algorithm which would be based on idea of image of different colors and Lines of static colors. Yes - such algorithm will not work for images with lots of shadows and lights. But It willl probably be fast (I hope so). Is there any such algorithm?

• Image map popup on rollover, with popup text drawn from database

  I have a custom map of the USA with about 20 polygonal hot spots. I would like a box to pop up next to each hot spot on hover, with text and links drawn from my DB specific to the location. I would have thought this is a common situation, but I can't find a solution that works. I tried using an asp:imagemap and an ajax popup extender but you can't assign IDs to hotspots and it doesn't support mouseover events. I tried css with an html image map but I can't figure out how to use css solutions with polygonal hot spots, and I also don't know how to link it to get the data from the db without asp targets (I'm not very familiar with jquery, which would work, I am guessing). Anyone know of any simple-ish solutions out there?

  I noticed that in Jeff's slides "Challenges in Building Large-Scale Information Retrieval Systems", which can also be downloaded here: http://research.google.com/people/jeff/WSDM09-keynote.pdf, a method of integers compression called "group varint encoding" was mentioned. It was said much faster than 7 bits per byte integer encoding (2X more). I am very interested in this and looking for an implementation of this, or any more details that could help me implement this by myself. I am not a pro and new to this, and any help is welcome!

I took a look at the accessiblity apis, and it only can find the current ui element, but not the current word... my last choice will be makeing screenshots frequently, and doing ocr... that'll be cpu consuming, I don't like that.. any idea for this? thanks in advance!

• IPhone Plain TableView Section Header Image and Getting Text on Two Lines

  Hello, this is my first question, so if I didn't do the tags correctly, I'm sorry. I tried... Well here is my question: I am hoping someone can tell me how to do a 2-line section header for a plain tableview. The problems I am having are: 1) I cannot find an image that will mimic that of the default 1-line section header. Can someone share one with me, or tell me how I can find one? 2) I cannot seem to get the section header text on two lines, since I am pulling it from the fetched results controller, a "field" (sorry if wrong terminology) that I custom defined on the class for my table. So this "field" has multiple field values in it, and I have no way to take them apart... Any help would be appreciated.

  How can I replace a string/word in a Word Document via ASP.NET? I just need to replace a couple words in the document, so I would like to stay AWAY from 3rd party plugins & interop. I would like to do this by opening the file and replacing the text. I think that Word Documents are stored in binary?? If word documents are binary, how would I read and write the file in binary? • RAD/Eclipse Eclipse Test and Performance Tools Platform, export data to text file

  I am using the RAD (also on Eclipse) Test and Performance Monitoring. I monitor CPU performance time with it, on particular methods, etc. It is a good tool for my monitoring my applications but I can't copy/paste or export the output to a text file format. So I can send to the others. There has to be a way to export this? Also, I can save the output to file but it is '*.trcxml' binary file? has anyone seen a parser for this file format?

• FlowDocument contents as text

  What is the best way to get back the XAML/XML value of a FlowDocument? I noticed there isn't a .Value, .Text, .Caption, .ToXml(), etc... UDPATE: I'd like to be able to get access to it initially to serialize to disk or database. Treat it as its own document format. Later translating it to other formats would be nice. Also been wondering: Any equivalent to a hyperlink (opens in new browser window) in a FlowDocument? Any workaround?
