From reading this website and various others, I now know that many employers value a github profile with code samples, projects and the like. Since I want to get hired doing JEE stuff, what kind of projects can I work on to eventually place on github showing prospective employers? Is there any (non-nonsense) project(s) which uses the JEE stack I can work on ?

    As announced at JavaOne, GlassFish Server Open Source Edition 4.1 is scheduled for 2014. ?Oracle is planning updates as needed to GlassFish Server Open Source Edition, which is commercially unsupported?. Oracle has announced the following updates to the GlassFish roadmap: The trunk will eventually transition to GlassFish Server Open Source Edition 5 as a Java EE 8 implementation. ?The Java EE 8 Reference Implementation will be derived from GlassFish Server Open Source Edition 5. This replicates what has been done in past Java EE and GlassFish Server releases. Oracle will no longer release future major releases of Oracle GlassFish Server with commercial support – specifically Oracle GlassFish Server 4.x with commercial Java EE 7 support will not be released.?Commercial Java EE 7 support will be provided from WebLogic Server.     There is applications and places menus in the gnome fallback ubuntu 12.10, What I found that I only can edit the applications menu, and there is no way to edit the places menu, in gnome 2 there is a way to edit the bookmarks in nautilus and they are changed in the places menu, its not the same in gnome 3 fallback when I add bookmarks folders it dont appear in places menu. Is there a way to add shortcuts to folders in places menu ??

  • How can I download a cryptographically signed version the Java JDK from Oracle?

    When going to Oracle's download site (https://cds.sun.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/CDS-CDS_SMI-Site/en_US/-/USD/ViewProductDetail-Start?ProductRef=java_ee_sdk-6u1u21-wjdk-oth-JPR@CDS-CDS_SMI) to download JDK for EE the download is over HTTP (not HTTPS) and the executable isn't signed. As far as I can tell, there are also no SHA1 hashes published so I have no way to verify that the code hasn't been altered. Does anybody know of a way to verify this or has Oracle not given any way to make sure this is secure?

  • Advice needed on Process - Service Design

    Need some advice from experts on designing a flow. Create a service that will read a csv file which may contain anywhere over 6000+ rows of individual ids as shown in the sample below. Need to read that file and go to oracle database and fetch a vname,vnumber,vid of each id in the csv and then go to document repository i.e. Oracle UCM and download all documents matching vname,vnumber,vid there can be =0 documents for each vname,vnumber,vid and save them on a file system. UCM exposes a webservice to dowload the documents. Finally create a new csv appending the filenames that are downloaded for each id. Need to keep track of any errors but need to make sure to go over the whole ids in the csv to download the documents and skip in case of errors. Need some advice on how to go about designing this as there may be over 6000+ rows in a csv file and looping it and hitting the database for each individual id and then hitting a UCM may be a bit expensive so open for any idea. How to go by designing this solution. Wondering if messaging can be helpful here or offloading process of getting the vname,vnumber,vid to pl/sql packages, creating staging tables etc. Initial csv that contains ids: **ID** 12345a 12s345 3456fr we9795 we9797 Final csv output: **ID Files Downloaded from UCM** 12345a a.pdf,b.doc,d.txt 12s345 a1.pdf,s2.pdf,f4.gif 3456fr b.xls we9795 we9797 x.doc Thanks

  • Building Website with JAX-RS (Jersey)

    Is it discouraged/not-common to build Websites (not web-services!) using Jersey or any other JAX-RS implementation ? I didn't find any guide/tutorial/article regarding that.. At first impression , it seems to me that building website using Jersey (with JSPs as Viewables) is easier and more efficient than using Servlets & JSPs. If anyone did it before , I will be pleased to get tips, Do's & Don'ts, best practices etc... And maybe a good tutorial.

  • JSF 2/Primefaces p:ajax not updating panel after onchange event is fired

    I am really stuck with this for the last 2 days and am struggling to understand how Primefaces updates UI components on the client based on their ID. I have a h:selectOneMenu with a count for the number of panels to be displayed. Each p:panel will contain a panelGrid with numerous form elements. The onchange event on the drop down is fired and I can see the count in the Managed Bean.   • Update panel and usercontrols

    I have two web user controls nested inside of an update panel. The events inside the user controls do not appear to trigger the panel. For testing, I have set the method the fires to sleep for 3 seconds, and added an update progress panel to the page. The update progress panel never comes up and the page reflashes as usual. The user controls work correctly and do what they need to do, but I would like to make them ajaxy and pretty.     Anyone try this simple bit of code in an ie8 browswer and try refreshing the page, in ie8 you will get an error around getelementbyid on refresh.     I have a listbox that is grouping the items with a GroupStyle. I would like add a control at the bottom of the stackpanel that holds all of the groups. This additional control needs to be part of the scrolling content so that the user would scroll to the bottom of the list to see the control. If I were using a listbox without the groups, this task would be easy by modifying the ListBox template. However, with the items grouped, the ListBox template seems to only apply on a per group basis.   • flex positioning a button within a panel

    All I'm trying to do is place a button inside of a panel, rotate that button (so it is vertical) and place it on the edge of the panel. I can;t seem to do this correctly.     Ok this is my application : An Android app to allow me to submit CokeZone codes into CokeZone.co.uk from a mobile app instead of from the website. So I wrote this section of code to do the post logon command and then check to see if im logged in after. Problem is - the html I get from the homepage after I send the post command is the default - as if im not logged in - so something is going wrong. Can anyone please help! Its probably the URL im sending the POST to, or the params within the POST command - I havent done much of this stuff so its probably something obvious.     Hi, I'm requesting data from a server which returns data in the JSON format. Casting a HashMap into JSON when making the request wasn't hard at all but the other way seems to be a little tricky. The JSON response looks like this: { "header" : { "alerts" : [ { "AlertID" : "2", "TSExpires" : null, "Target" : "1", "Text" : "woot", "Type" : "1" }, { "AlertID" : "3", "TSExpires" : null, "Target" : "1", "Text" : "woot", "Type" : "1" } ], "session" : "0bc8d0835f93ac3ebbf11560b2c5be9a" }, "result" : "4be26bc400d3c" } What way would be easiest to access this data?     I assume the following objects should be used to read contents of DOCX file: XWPFDocument XWPFWordExtractor However, somewhere the compiler warns me from not including the correct libraries needed in classpath. I think I'm kinda lost for not knowing which jar file is the right one to include for this since there are so many jar files (POI libraries). My project so far involve in reading doc and docx files as part of the project. I've managed to read the contents of doc file. However, for docx file, I'm still having problem with that. Can anyone show the guidelines in terms of the codes and libraries needed (jar files) to read the content of docx file? I'm trying to limit the libraries need to be added on into project since I need to read doc and docx only.
