  • MySQL Enterprise Monitor 3.0.3 Is Now Available

    We are pleased to announce that MySQL Enterprise Monitor 3.0.3 is now available for download on the My Oracle Support (MOS) web site. It will also be available via the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud with the November update in about 1 week. This is a maintenance release that fixes a number of bugs. You can find more information on the contents of this release in the change log. You will find binaries for the new release on My Oracle Support. Choose the "Patches & Updates" tab, and then use the "Product or Family (Advanced Search)" feature. You will also find the binaries on the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud in approximately 1 week. Choose "MySQL Database" as the Product Pack and you will find the Enterprise Monitor along with other MySQL products. Based on feedback from our customers, MySQL Enterprise Monitor (MEM) 3.0 offers many significant improvements over previous releases.     I'm writing my own small-time game from scratch, and now I'm looking to start creating models. I've been wondering- what is the best model format to use? Given that I will be writing the model loading code myself and using whatever program generates them. Ideally, I'd look for a format that has fairly wide support between modelling programs, so I can pick the one I like most to actually perform the building, and the format itself would be relatively simple to load, rather than having all of the latest features.

  • How steep is the learning curve when moving from shared (cPanel) webhosting to a VPS (e.g. Linode)?

    In all shared hosting environments, one can be agnostic to the running OS. What happens in the case of Linode? I know it allows pretty flexible Linux installations, but for starters, besides choosing a distro, does one need to do more Linux sysadmin stuff besides the basic web hosting (DNS management, MySql database creations, users ftp/ssh access/ backups)? Does Linode have a module that would cover cPanel's basic features? Does one need to install/start/upgrade each aspect of LAMP (software bundle)?
