  • repair/recovery tool for Western Digital Elements (1TB)

    My Hard Disk Drive just got corrupted due to electricity fluctuation. When I plug my Western Digital Elements, It ask me if I want to format it or not... I can't see my files or even the capacity of my disk from it's properties. Is there any solution you would suggest? looking for a software that can give me access to my files. I just need to copy it then I can retire my Drive and will buy a new one... Thanks!

  • Excel chart: How to reverse the X axis of time series data

    In Excel 2003, I have a time series from a financial report that goes something like this: 2007 2006 2005 Amount 300 200 100 I want to create a graph of the time series that looks something like this (please excuse the ugly ascii graph): 300| .x | ... 200| .x.. | ... 100| x |____________________ 0 2005 2006 2007 But intead of getting an upward sloping graph, excel wants to put my time series in reverse (the way it actually appears in the spreadsheet). Is there any way to make excel display the x axis in reverse of the way it normally does? I've tried manually reversing the range in the chart dialog (changing a range of B1:D3 to D3:B1), but excel just puts it back.

  • Server 2008 email on Event variables

    One of the new features of Server 2008 is the ability to attach a task to a specific event in the event logs. One of the actions available is to send an email through a SMTP server. This is working great, however it would be ideal if in the message body, the Event contents could be placed. I have tried using $eventdescription and %eventdescription%, but those are just shots in the dark. Any amount of googling produces no results. Does anyone know if this is possible? Update: Sparks' suggestion below is a step in the right direction I believe, however that method doesn't seem to work for all values. For example, I can pull the RecordID, Severity and Channel as shown, but I can't use the same method to retreive the EventID, or most importantly the description.     At the company I work at, an employee was let go. His laptop was a company laptop with Photoshop CS3 installed on it. Photoshop was deactivated so it could be installed on another computer. The license was bought online and emailed to someone, however, that computer crashed and the email with the license is lost. Is there a way to recover the license from the laptop? Are we better off contacting Adobe's customer support?

    We're migrating an LAOP server to Win 2k8 IIS7 MSSQL and PHP (WIMP?) at work, and I'm using the opportunity to clean up the PHP. Currently it doesn't use PDO, and I'd like to rewrite the PHP to use that instead. Challenge is, I don't know much about MSSQL and PHP deployment on Windows. The official MSSQL PDO object is experimental / depreicated and recommends PDO-ODBC. Microsoft just announced a driver supporting PDO. Is there no other PDO driver? How does SQLSRV contrast with PDO-ODBC?

    Can anybody suggest me any good and preferably free software - working on Vista / 7 - for recovering content from DVD disks? A few DVD-R VOB files cannot be read from disk by Windows. Probably the camera failed to burn it correctly. What I want to achieve is to skip a few invalid frames in VOB files and recreate proper MPEG stream - without re-encoding whole stream and loosing the quality.

  • [Outlook 2007] How to recover the deleted Tasks from a Deleted Profile?

    Edit: OK. I've found the OST with the tasks in it, but I am unable to import an OST into outlook, it appears it needs to be converted to PST first. Is there anyone who knows a free OST - PST converter or some way to import OSTs directly into outlook? I am using outlook 2007 linked to an MSN email account through outlook connector. I recently added [email protected] (Fake address) to my outlook and deleted [email protected]. I thought my tasks were locally stored seperately from the email address, but it turns out when I deleted [email protected], I also lost all of my tasks. This is catastrophic. Is there any way to recover them? They're not stored on the MSN web account. I figure they must still be somewhere on my computer. I just don't know where to look or how to look there. Thank you.

    It's possible I am unable to resolve this because I have been spoiled in other DEV environments where I had one database server for each reporting server. I need some advise on how to point a single SQL Server reporting server to multiple database servers. These databases correspond to DEV, TEST and QA environments.   • Hard drive is working fine then next boot up shows up as a unformatted.

    The drive is a Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB. There are no SMART errors and the drive sounds healthy. Restarted the computer from the drive working fine and then noticed that the drive had the same drive letter but has RAW as the file system. I have a few file/partition recovery software titles available but since doing any scans on this drive takes about 2.5 hours I wanted to know if any one had any advice.

    I am currently running SQL server 2008 (SQLserverold) which homes databases for systemn center Service Manager 2012 Datawarehouse. This server is very old and needs to be decommisioned. Prior to decomissioning the serve, the databases have to be migrated to another clustered SQL server with two nodes(SQLServer1 and SQLserver2). I am not a DB admin no experience in SQL, and I have been given the task of migrating the Databases on the old server to the new custered environmnet.     Given a floor-plan, which is too big for any screen, even if it is a 17" one, how can I show it online like a map? It would need further functionality that a browser alone does not have (just zoom in/out the entire image won't do the trick). The image will be breaked down into smaller jpgs, so the user will not have to download the whole floorplan at once.It will need some zoom in/zoom out button, and some way or bookmarking position (x,y). open-source solutions prefered.

    Possible Duplicate: Chrome: where is the location to save browse temporary files Ok, so here's what happened - and yes, it was pretty stupid by me: I wrote up and submitted a post on Stack Overflow It was not suited to be placed on Stack Overflow as someone pointed out to me, so I deleted the post (this was a few hours ago) I copied the text into a new question page on Super User, but didn't submit it yet I accidentally just refreshed the webpage that had the text, and the question has now been deleted from Stack Overflow I have Lazarus installed, however the Chrome version doesn't have many features and the text was not recoverable from there. I do not have a clipboard manager, but the text was copied to my clipboard - so is there any way to get this back (Windows 7)? Although the post on Stack Overflow was deleted, I suppose it would have existed in my cache - could I recover it from there? Would the post on Stack Overflow exist in an rss feed anywhere? Many thanks, and I hope I can find this - and I am sure that the solution will prove valuable for me (and others) in the not too distant future once again.

  • Git: get back my commited data from a messed up local repo

    I am a newbie to git so I think I made something stupid (will move back to hg soon ;-)) Assume I'm at version A and I commited a change but didn't want that. Now assume we have version B. I didn't found a good solution how to cleanly roll B back to A but went back to A via checkout and continued commiting - assume I have version C. A--->B \-->C Now the problem is that those commits were successfull (I can see the SHA's and the msg in .git/logs/HEAD) but the commits do not show up in the log and I couldn't push them to github. Before detecting the mess I checkout to 'master' ... and git rolled all back to B. How can I get my version C back or are my changes lost? Is this the same problem as described here? Please close. I posted it here. On stackoverflow seems to be more questions related to that ...

    I'm considering upgrade from Postgres 8.3.3 to 8.4.2 on my machine (it has Windows Vista). Windows Installer (one click installer) for Postgres 8.4.2 that can be downloaded from enterprisedb.com offers only fresh install (it does not recognizes my current installation of v8.3.3). Is it possible to upgrade with all existing databases converted and visible (automatically migrated?) in new version just after upgrade? Or I have to do something more - backup/restore all my databases manually?

  • Lost data after removing USB stick...

    I foolishly removed my USB stick from a Windows XP machine seemingly without unmounting it (or whatever the Window equivalent is..). Anyway, on inserting the stick into my linux machine, the file I was working on shows up, but it is completely empty (0KB). Since I'm pretty much a Windows novice these days, I'd like to know if there is any temporary location where I will still be able to find this file, or is it now lost permanently?

  • What are these completely random images that pop up when using Recuva?

    I just used Recuva to get back some photos I accidentally deleted on C:, but I also noticed there's a bunch of COMPLETELY random images in the list of recoverable files I can choose from. An example would be, There are images with names like John_Doe.jpg with a file path somewhere out of C:/Windows/Assembly/ And some of these things don't even make sense, there's one called componentsSpriteImage with the path C:/?/Images that shows a "poster" from the TV series Gold Rush. I am completely lost on this.. I know the OS is on C:, but I can't really think of a reason why Microsoft would leave a image hanging around from Gold Rush.

What is best practice out there to sync time for all windows and unix boxes to sync with time server or domain controller. Windows time service is not made for high accuracy less then 10 secs.   • Recover deleted files on windows 2008 file server

    We have recently been hit by a weird virus which made all files and folders a system files/folders and also it hid all files and folders par some weird ones it created including: ..exe porn.exe secret.exe password.exe etc We have managed to restore the files with attrib command to unhide and unmark them as system files however we have noticed that we are missing some 4 to 5 folders of which (based on my luck) 2 of them are the two most important client we have. I am not sure if these files were deleted by the worm/virus or by my colleagues who are not owning up to them but the files are now gone. Worst of all, we do not have any backup what so ever (Yes I know, we should not have done that but it is a lesson learned and since last night we have created two forms of backup systems one to external device and one on the cloud, but I doubt any of that will help us now) We have 1 Windows 2008 File server and 4 client computers based on Windows 2007. I would be grateful if anyone can help us on how we can recover from this disaster which could potentially put us out of business.

  • Is there a way to undo deletion of registry keys while the machine is still running?

    [ also posted from a programmer's POV at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3299230 ] I messed up big time and deleted a large portion of my registry during a programming experiment: As a result most of the contents of HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ are gone. I haven't logged off or shutdown since this happened. The applications that were already running seem to be coping fine so far but I suspect that after the next reboot there won't be much happiness left... Also, System Restore tells me there are no restore points even though I'm pretty sure there should have been. Could this be another symptom of the purged registry? I wouldn't have expected this information to be stored under HKCU, though... Does anybody know of a technique or utility that can possibly restore some or all of the deleted entries? I'm on Windows 7 Enterprise 32bit. I'm not really holding my breath but you can always hope, can't you?

  • Migrating to a new server

    I was asked by a client to move a website to a new server. Normally I would make a local copy by downloading it and then uploading it to the new server after making any necessary configurations of course. This particular client has like 1 million images ranging up 1MB and I still haven't found a solution as to how to move these properly. I have tried zipping them on the server first but the file gets too big and it seems to just stop. Anyway, the client told me he can set up a "portal" so I don't have to download and re-upload the files. I have never heard of this no can I find what this is. Any of you know something that fits this description or solution to my image problem? Thanks in advance
