    I have Kerberos-based authentication with Apache/2.2.3 (Linux/SUSE). When user is trying to open some url, browser ask him about domain login and password like in HTTP Basic Auth. If user cancel such request 3 times Apache returns 401 Authorization Required error page. My current virtual host config is <Directory /home/user/www/current/public/> Options -MultiViews +FollowSymLinks AllowOverride None Order allow,deny Allow from all AuthType Kerberos AuthName "Domain login" KrbAuthRealms DOMAIN.COM KrbMethodK5Passwd On Krb5KeyTab /etc/httpd/httpd.keytab require valid-user </Directory> I want to set nice custom 401 error page with some instructions for users. And I added such line in virtual host config: ErrorDocument 401 /pages/401 It works, when user can't authorize apache redirects him to my nice page. But Apache doesn't ask user login\password as it did before. I want this functionality and nice error page simultaneously! Is it possible to make it works properly?

  • Password expiration notice for Active Directory

    Are there any tools/apps/scripts out there that will do password expiry notification for Windows 2008 Active Directory credentials? This is needed for our web apps that use Active Directory for LDAP authentication. The problem is those apps do not notify you that your password is going to expire when you login. We have many offsite users who do not have machines bound to the AD. So there is no way to let them know to reset their password. I'd like the user to be notified 30,7 and 1 day before it expires. I'd also like our help desk to get an email for the expiring passwords for the week and recently expired passwords. I've looked at oldcmp.exe from link text and that gets me my reports but it does not do the automation that I'm looking for on the individual users.

I have never worked on linux and dont plan on working on it either - The only command I probably know is "ls" :) I am hosting my website on Eapps and use their cpanel to setup everything so never worked with linux. Now I have this one time case - where I need to provide access to a contractor to fix the CSS issues on my website. He basically needs FTP (read/write) access to certain folders. At a high level - this is my code structure /home/webadmin/example.com/html/images /css /js /login.php /facebook.php /home/webadmin/example.com/application/library /views /models /controllers /config /bootstrap.php /home/webadmin/example.com/cgi-bin I want the new user to be able to have access to only these folders /home/webadmin/example.com/html/js /home/webadmin/example.com/html/css /home/webadmin/example.com/application/views He should not be able to view even the content of other folders including files like bootstrap.php or login.php etc If any sys admins can help me set this account up - will really appreciate it.     I have been given access to (parts of) a remote SQL Server 2005 with SQL Server authentication in order to be able to make changes to a database without involving other people who is not working on the project. The database have been created on my local machine. Is there any way to restore the remote database from a backup file on my local computer? I do not currently have access to the filesystem on the remote server. EDIT: To clarify, the access I have is that i can log in to the server via the SQL Server Management Studio. I have one connection to my local database server and one connection to the remote server. What I basically want to do is copy the database from one connection to the other.

  • Corporate IM with video that actually works, suggestions?

    Hi. Does anyone here have a suggestion for a cross-platform IM solution wich will work with voip/video on both Windows (XP and 7) and Mac OS X from 10.4 and upwards? Right now were in a kind of mixed enviroment, with some Mac users using iChat server since they need video support (conference across several offices over VPN), but it wont't work on windows clients. The rest of us are happily using Openfire+Spark, but there's no VoIP or video avaible from what i've found, unless you want to add in several 3rd party software (like red5 and asterisk). Requirements: As said before; must work on both Windows and Mac Internal server (no Skype etc) File transfer between platforms SSO (Single Sign-On) via Active Directory authentication Some sort of screen sharing would be a plus, like switching over to a screen capture (powerpoint, software training etc) We can afford to buy software if that's needed to get this working without any hiccups across platforms. Pre-thanks to anyone who gives suggestions.

    Our WSUS server stopped working until the patch related to .NET 4.0 was installed, at which point clients started downloading and updating again. However, the WSUS mmc console occasionally disconnects when performing various tasks, such as running automatic approval rules; also wsusutil checkhealth creates the following events: 13042: Self-update is not working. 12002: The Reporting Web Service is not working. 12012: The API Remoting Web Service is not working. 12032: The Server Synchronization Web Service is not working. 12022: The Client Web Service is not working. 12042: The SimpleAuth Web Service is not working. 12052: The DSS Authentication Web Service is not working. Apparently there are many possible causes for these events. I'm looking for a way to figure out what is wrong, so that I can fix it.

  • Google Chrome never renders fonts properly / no smoothing etc

    A while ago I started using Chrome and no longer Firefox, however I found out something weird which maybe force me to return to Firefox if I can not fix this. I am coding a homepage and the output was in Chrome ugly, in Firefox not. I thought "ok this is maybe due to bad code"... however I found out that the same problems occurs on different sites like Facebook too. The font is not smoothed and it is not nice to read. Here is an example, although I have censored nearly everything... Bad Chrome Rendering Good Firefox Rendering You may need to open up in a new tab to see the errors in detail. Now I want to know, whether this is just Chrome trolling me or maybe something else. EDIT I tried it out under Ubuntu on my PC and it works well... seems to be an error on Windows/Chrome on Windows.

  • How to configure citrix presentation server 4.5 login config

    Hello, I am a little confused as to something my Citrix Server has been doing. When I login to the web login, (username, password, domain); everything logs in ok and I see all the available application. The problem that I was trying to fix is that when I try to start an application, it asks me to login again to the server that is hosting the citrix server. So, is there anyway to have the initial login credentials pass-through to the server login or skip the server login completely? Side note - I do have pass-through authentication enabled on both my internal and external Citrix site. Thanks for the help! Cory

  • TeamViewer - only allow domain logins

    I recently started a Systems Admin job where teamviewer is used pretty frequently here. Another admin recently left, and the concern is they still have access to all our systems due to how teamviewer works. I want to migrate the entire environment to domain authentication. The documentation shows that setting up windows auth (domain) is easy, but I want to be sure that it is the only way to be authenticated with a teamviewer session here. I cannot yet find anything which explicitly says this. We have licensing for teamviewer 5 and 6, I think. Right now we have 7 in the environment, but I think most are in a trial version, so I am likely to revert to 5 or 6.

    The built-in isight cam on my macbook machine keeps re-adjusting the lighting (and focus I think). I need to manually set those, but I found nothing of any use in System Preferences or System Profiler. Any way to access the settings ? Any magic terminal commands that allows access to the camera ? Anyone has a driver that allows for any camera access ? 'mac - it just works'...sure, if you want to use it like a kid. the second you actually want to do something with you mac other than the basic things, you can do on ANY regular machine anyway, your 'rights' are done with, as apple seems to only encourage dumb clients. I'm not saying saying this applies to all mac users, but the 'typical/average' one in my view is only going to use it for media(music,video) and web(facebook,blogging, all that) and maybe podcasting,webcasting,etc....ok this is turning into a rant, so I will finish here.

  • Reset user passwd when you don't know it

    I have a small problem. I have shared keys setup on my domain, so I never type my password to login anymore. I've forgotten my password now. This is a problem because only my user can sudo. Password authentication for root has been disabled, so without my password, I cannot do maintenance on my web server. Is there a way to reset my password as my [now only] key-authenticated user? Specifically, can this be done on CentOS 4?

  • How can i get more user debug logging related to kerberos for alfresco?

    I am running alfresco community edition 3.4c on a debian linux. I have problems getting the kerberos authentication in order. The biggest problem is that do not seem to have any sort of user logs. what i am using already: log4j.logger.org.alfresco.web.app.servlet.KerberosAuthenticationFilter=debug log4j.logger.org.alfresco.repo.webdav.auth.KerberosAuthenticationFilter=debug log4j.logger.org.alfresco.smb.protocol=debug log4j.logger.org.alfresco.fileserver=debug I've also checked if the users actually reach the server, and they do, (also on a linux firefox outside of domain, i seem to be able to log in). Can anyone help me get more user logging?

I've read that NLB is a possible solution, but wondering if this is possible with SRV records, and how about you would correctly configure that. With our AD directory, I can bind with olddomain.local, and hit any of the DCs in the domain. However, the proxy is removing all xmlns data from the html tag, which breaks all the Facebook's FBML which is never parsed.     I currently have my main hard drive split into two partitions. One being Windows 7 with about 600 GB of memory, the other Windows 8 Consumer Preview with about 50 GB. As you can guess it is set up for a dual boot. Today while looking up how to get the C# Facebook SDK for Metro apps I learned about the Release Preview being released. I was wondering: How do I go about getting rid of Windows 8 Consumer Preview and replacing it with the Release Preview? I know i can't just wipe it off my second partition because the dual boot uses Windows 8 to choose the operating system to boot.

  • Most efficient Way to setup a game server

    I'm running a PHP based game which has over 45 Million members predicted for end of this year (2011) Currently we are on 7.5 Million, this game is being ran on facebook and I am in desperate need to help get this game server as efficient and as powerful as possible. it is a dedicated server with Processor Manufacturer Intel Model i7 920 Frequency 4x 2x 2.66 GHz NIC GigaEthernet RAM 12 GB Hard disk 4 x 1 TB specs. It has apache installed, cPanel, phpMyAdmin, several apache mods and MySQL. The game also runs 47 mysql calls per second per user. Is there any alternatives to the above which could be faster, more efficient etc? I dont mind having to recode the game to fit to it, as long as it maximises our upper limit of members on the game. Thanks Also, is there a way to tell what our maximum limit to players, database calls etc is? Thank you again, hope you guys can help :)

    We are hosting our website (http://www.redappleapartments.com) with a hosting company in Sweden. And we are using godaddy as our email provider. So, our smtp servers are smtp.europe.secureserver.net mailstore1.europe.secureserver.net Our website sends plenty of emails to our customers and we are sending via godaddy (using SMTP authentication). Some of the emails are never delivered to the recipients. And sometimes we see such warning: The hostname in the SMTP greeting does not match the reverse DNS (PTR) Can somebody out there suggest how we can solve this problem?

If I remove html/.htaccess the authentication works fine. However when I have both .htaccess files exported/ is being rewritten to /url.php. Any ideas how I can prevent it?

  • OpenVPN stopped working, what could have happened?

    I have Openvpn, and it worked great when I used it on PC (Windows 8), then I copied all files (Certificates and config) to an Android 4 phone to use them. Now, Openvpn works on the phone, but not the PC. Specifically, when I open Google I get: The server at www.google.com can't be found, because the DNS lookup failed, but the VPN seems to be connected. I have a simple question, could the problem be because I copied the same files?
