• SL3/SL4 - Ado.Net Data Services Error during new DataServiceCollection<T>(queryResponse)

  Hey all, I have two functions in a SL project (VS2010) that do almost exactly the same thing, yet one throws an error and the other does not. It seems to be related to the projections, but I am unsure about the best way to resolve. This is under SL4 or SL3 using ADONETDataServices SL3 Update CTP3. I am open to any work around or pointers to goo information, a Google search for the error results in two hits, neither particularly helpful that I can decipher. The short error is "An item could not be added to the collection. When items in a DataServiceCollection are tracked by the DataServiceContext, new items cannot be added before items have been loaded into the collection." The full error is... • iphone - creating a reference to a MPMoviePlayerController

  At some point in my code I am creating a MPMoviePlayerController object and playing it. As I need to reference this object at some other methods in my code that runs asynchronously, I need to store a pointer to the movie object etc., so I can use that. Declaring MPMoviePlayerController * myMovie on the header file is out of question, because the compiler will give me an error saying "expected specifier-qualifier-list before 'MPMoviePlayerController'". If it was a view I could do something like [self.view viewWithTag:99]; to get the object, but the MPMoviePlayerController does not allow this. How can I obtain the movie object or store a reference to it, so I can call the object in other methods? thanks for any help.

• Word Spell Check pops up hidden and "freezes" my App

  I am using Word's Spell Check in my in house WinForm app. My clients are all XP machines with Office 2007 and randomly the spell check suggestion box pops up behind the App and makes everything "appear" frozen as you cannot get at it. Suggestions? What do other people do to work around this or stop it altogether? • Binding to a dictionary in Silverlight with INotifyPropertyChanged

  In silverlight, I can not get INotifyPropertyChanged to work like I want it to when binding to a dictionary. In the example below, the page binds to the dictionary okay but when I change the content of one of the textboxes the CustomProperties property setter is not called. The CustomProperties property setter is only called when CustomProperties is set and not when the values within it are set. I am trying to do some validation on the dictionary values and so am looking to run some code when each value within the dictionary is changed. Is there anything I can do here? • Linq To Sql and identity_insert

  I am trying to do record inserts on a table where the primary key is an Identity field. I have tried calling mycontext.ExecuteCommand("SET identity_insert myTable ON") but this doesn't do any good. I get an error saying that identity_insert is off when I submit changes. How can I turn it ON from the c# code before I submit changes? EDIT I have read that this is because ExecuteCommand's code gets executed in a different session. EDIT 2 Is there any way I can execute some DDL to remove the Identity Specification from my C# code, do the inserts, and then turn Identity Specification back on?

  Hi all, I've got a WCF service setup which I can consume and use as intendid... but only on the same machine. I'm looking to get this working over multiple computers and I'm not fussed about the security. However when I set (client side) the security to = none, I get a InvalidOperationException: The service certificate is not provided for target 'http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8731/Design_Time_Addresses/WcfServiceLibrary/ManagementService/'. Specify a service certificate in ClientCredentials. So I'm left with: <security mode="Message"> <message clientCredentialType="None" negotiateServiceCredential="false" algorithmSuite="Default" /> </security> But this gives me another InvalidOperationException: The service certificate is not provided for target 'http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8731/Design_Time_Addresses/WcfServiceLibrary/ManagementService/'.   I know Singleton pattern has been discussed so much. But because I'm not fully understand the memory management mechanism in Objective-C, so when I combined Singleton implementation with multithreading, I got a big error and cost me a whole day to resolve it. I had a singleton object, let's call it ObjectX. I declared an object inside ObjectX that will detach a new thread, let's call that object objectWillSpawnNewThread, when I called [[ObjectX sharedInstance].objectWillSpawnNewThread startNewThread]; The new thread could not be executed correctly, and finally I found out that I should not declare the object objectWillSpawnNewThread inside the singleton class. Here are my questions: How does Objective-C allocate static object in the memory? Where does Objective-C allocate them(Main thread stack or somewhere else)? Why would it be failed if we spawn a new thread inside the singleton object? I had searched the Objective-C language [ObjC.pdf] and Objective-C memory management document, maybe I missed something, but I currently I could not find any helpful information.

  Hi, I have an object with a property called "name". This object has a sub object that has a property called "name" as well. Transaction.name Transaction.TransactionItem TransactionItem.name I bind Transaction object to a partial control as usual: Html.TextBox("name", Model.name)% Model is a Transaction object. And I bind TransactionItems: < if (Model.mtTransactionItem != null) { foreach (var item in Model.mtTransactionItem) { % <%= Ajax.ActionLink(item.name, "ShowItem", new { id = item.id }, new AjaxOptions { UpdateTargetId = "dialog-form" })% And when I update the one of the transaction items through an ajax call I pass the entire transaction object to the partial view. When I debug I check the Model.name property, and it has a proper value. But on the page shows the name of TransactionItem value instead of the name of Transaction value. What do I do wrong? I have checked this problem in MVC 1.0 and MVC 2.0 framework.

  I am working with Open Id, just playing around making a class to interact / auth Open Id's on my site (in PHP). I know there are a few other Libraries (like RPX), but I want to use my own (its good to keep help better understand the protocol and whether its right for me). The question I have relates to the Open Id discovery sequence. Basically I have reached the point where I am looking at using the XRDS doc to get the local identity (openid.identity) from the claimed identity (openid.claimed_id). My question is, do I have to make a cURL request to get the XRDS Location (X-XRDS-location) and then make another cURL request to get the actual XRDS doc?? It seems like with a DUMB request I only make one cURL request and get the Open Id Server, but have to make two to use the XRDS Smart method. Just doesn't seem right, can anyone else give me some info.

The "all" target depends on v12target and v13 target, which set a number of variables for that particular build. It also depends on an "avrcommontargets" pattern, which defines how to actually do the compiling. avrcommontargets then depends on the ELF file, which in turn depends on object files, which are built from the C source code. Each compiled C file results in an object file (*.o). Since each configuration (v12, v13, etc.) results in a different output, the C file needs to be built several times with the output placed in different subdirectories. For example, "build/v12/main.o", "build/v13/main.o", etc. Sample output: TODO call GCC to compile C file: destination build//main.o, source main.c TODO build ELF file from object file: destination build/DoV12.elf, source build//main.o TODO build ELF file from object file: destination build/DoV13.elf, source build//main.o The problem is that the object file isn't going into the correct subdirectory. For example, "build//main.o" instead of "build/v12/main.o". That then prevents the main.o from being correctly rebuilt to generate the v13 version of main.o. I'm guessing the issue is that $(INTDIR) is a target specific variable, and perhaps this can't be used in the pattern targets I defined for %.elf and %.o. The correct output would be: TODO call GCC to compile C file: destination build/v12/main.o, source main.c TODO build ELF file from object file: destination build/DoV12.elf, source build/v12/main.o TODO call GCC to compile C file: destination build/v13/main.o, source main.c TODO build ELF file from object file: destination build/DoV13.elf, source build/v13/main.o What do I need to do to adjust this makefile so that it generates the correct output?

Here is what I have: Threads table ThreadID (Primary Key/Identity Column) Polls table PollID (Primary Key, FK for ThreadID for one-to-one relation) Question PollOptions table PollOptionID (Identity/Primary Key) Text PollID PollVotes table PollVoteID (Primary Key/Identity) PollOptionID I'm not sure if this is a proper relationship. It seems wrong but I'm not sure whats wrong with it. A Thread can have 0 or 1 Poll. A Poll can have 2 or more PollOptions. A PollOption can have 0 or many PollVotes. I'm going to be using Entity Framework and before I generate the code for it (VS 2010, .NET 4) I want to make sure I have the proper relationship mapping.

  I have a dilemma. I've used DI (read: factory) to provide core components for a homebrew ORM. The container provides database connections, DAO's,Mappers and their resultant Domain Objects on request. I noticed this gets marked as recursive in FirePHP - i.e. $this-Monitor-markModified($this) 2: Instantiate the Monitor directly in the Domain Object - does this break DI? 3: Make the Monitor methods static, and call them from inside the Domain Object - this breaks DI too doesn't it? What would be your recommended course of action (other than use an existing ORM, I'm doing this for fun...)
