  • How to call bash process from within django / wsgi?

    - by chang
    I'm using mod_wsgi apache2 adapter for a django site and I like to call some bash process within a view, using the usual ... p = subprocess.Popen("/home/example.com/restart-tomcat.sh", shell=True) sts = os.waitpid(p.pid, 0)[1] ... This code works perfectly from within a usual python shell but does nothing (I can trace right now) when called within django. Am I missing some wsgi constraints? The script has 755 perms, so it should be executable. Thanks.

    Hello guys, I'm implement checkers (game) board with python. Here is how I switch it to the need structure [8][8] array: _matrix = [] for i in xrange(8): _matrix.append( [' '] * 8 ) for row in xrange(0, 8): for col in xrange(0, 8): if _darkQuad(row, col) == True: _matrix[row][col] = '#' else: _matrix[row][col] = '-' def _darkQuad(row, col): return ((row%2) == (col%2)) def _printDebugBoard(): for row in xrange(0, 8): for col in xrange(0, 8): print _matrix[row][col] print '' This should do my board like: # - # - # - # - - # - # - # - # ...   • dictionary interface for large data sets

    - by Richard
    I have a set of key/values (all text) that is too large to load in memory at once. I would like to interact with this data via a Python dictionary-like interface. Does such a module already exist? Reading key values should be efficient and values compressed on disk to save space.

  • Sorting a string in array, making it sparsely populated.

    - by S1syphus
    For example, say I have string like: duck duck duck duck goose goose goose dog And I want it to be as sparsely populated as possible, say in this case duck goose duck goose dog duck goose duck What sort of algorithm would you recommend? Snippets of code or general pointers would be useful, languages welcome Python, C++ and extra kudos if you have a way to do it in bash.

  • redirect prints to log file

    - by lakshmipathi
    Okay. I have completed my first python program.It has around 1000 lines of code. During development I placed plenty of print stmt before running a command using os.system() say something like, print "running command",cmd os.system(cmd) Now I have completed the program.I thought about commenting them but redirecting all these unnecessary print (i can't remove all print stmt- since some provide useful info for user) into a log file will be more useful? Any tricks or tips.

The second program can only start when the first program has finished. Which synchronization object do I need to implement this (in Python)?

  • Django - markup parser in template or view?

    - by Amit Ron
    I am building a website where my pages are written in MediaWiki Markup, for which I have a working parser function in Python. Where exactly do I parse my markup: in the view's code, or in the template? My first guess would be something like: return render_to_response( 'blog/post.html', {'post': post, 'content': parseMyMarkup(post.content) }) Is this the usual convention, or should I do something different?
