• Can't connect to my own wifi network

  I use ubuntu 12.04 on various differents laptops/netbooks on my home. I was able to connect to my own wifi network. But sometimes, I couldn't connect to my wifi network, it ask me for password again and again. After many tries (a lot of them), sometimes I can connect, but sometimes I can't. I have this problem with a Samsung netbook and with a HP laptop. Right now, I can't connect with the HP laptop. I'll be grateful for any help. Best regards, Nicolás

I learned a lot and I felt this has created some deep interest on the subject with others. I recently received very interesting question from one of the reader after reading SQL SERVER – PAGELATCH_DT, PAGELATCH_EX, PAGELATCH_KP, PAGELATCH_SH, PAGELATCH_UP – Wait Type – Day 12 of 28 that if they can know what kind of latches are waiting and what is their count. Absolutely! SQL Server team has already provided DMV which does the same. -- Latch SELECT * FROM sys.dm_os_latch_stats ORDER BY wait_time_ms DESC Above script will return you details about how many latches were waiting for how long. After going over this script I feel like going deep into the subject further. I will post a blog post on the subject soon. This series gave me the opportunity to go back and see what I have contributed to this blog throughout the last 7 years. This was indeed fantastic series as this provided me the opportunity to witness how technology has grown throughout the year and how I have progressed in my career while writing this blog post. This series was indeed fantastic experience readers as many joined during the last few years and were not sure what they have missed in recent years. Let us continue with the final episode of the Memory Lane Series. Here is the list of selected articles of SQLAuthority.com across all these years. Instead of just listing all the articles I have selected a few of my most favorite articles and have listed them here with additional notes below it. Let me know which one of the following is your favorite article from memory lane. 2007 Get Current User – Get Logged In User Here is the straight script which list logged in SQL Server users. Disable All Triggers on a Database – Disable All Triggers on All Servers Question : How to disable all the triggers for a database? Additionally, how to disable all the triggers for all servers? For answer execute the script in the blog post. Importance of Master Database for SQL Server Startup I have received following questions many times. I will list all the questions here and answer them together. What is the purpose of Master database? Should our backup Master database? Which database is must have database for SQL Server for startup? Which are the default system database created when SQL Server 2005 is installed for the first time? What happens if Master database is corrupted? Answers to all of the questions are very much related. 2008 DECLARE Multiple Variables in One Statement SQL Server is a great product and it has many features which are very unique to SQL Server. Regarding feature of SQL Server where multiple variable can be declared in one statement, it is absolutely possible to do. 2009 How to Enable Index – How to Disable Index – Incorrect syntax near ‘ENABLE’ Many times I have seen that the index is disabled when there is a large update operation on the table. Bulk insert of very large file updates in any table using SSIS is usually preceded by disabling the index and followed by enabling the index. I have seen many developers running the following query to disable the index. 2010 List of all the Views from Database Many emails I received suggesting that they have hundreds of the view and now have no clue what is going on and how many of them have indexes and how many does not have an index. Some even asked me if there is any way they can get a list of the views with the property of Index along with it. Here is the quick script which does exactly the same. You can also include many other columns from the same view. Minimum Maximum Memory – Server Memory Options I was recently reading about SQL Server Memory Options over here. While reading this one line really caught my attention is minimum value allowed for maximum memory options. The default setting for min server memory is 0, and the default setting for max server memory is 2147483647. The minimum amount of memory you can specify for max server memory is 16 megabytes (MB). 2011 Fundamentals of Columnstore Index There are two kinds of storage in a database. Row Store and Column Store. Row store does exactly as the name suggests – stores rows of data on a page – and column store stores all the data in a column on the same page. These columns are much easier to search – instead of a query searching all the data in an entire row whether the data are relevant or not, column store queries need only to search a much lesser number of the columns. How to Ignore Columnstore Index Usage in Query In summary the question in simple words “How can we ignore using the column store index in selective queries?” Very interesting question – you can use I can understand there may be the cases when the column store index is not ideal and needs to be ignored the same. You can use the query hint IGNORE_NONCLUSTERED_COLUMNSTORE_INDEX to ignore the column store index. The SQL Server Engine will use any other index which is best after ignoring the column store index. 2012 Storing Variable Values in Temporary Array or Temporary List SQL Server does not support arrays or a dynamic length storage mechanism like list. Absolutely there are some clever workarounds and few extra-ordinary solutions but everybody can;t come up with such solution. Additionally, sometime the requirements are very simple that doing extraordinary coding is not required. Here is the simple case. Move Database Files MDF and LDF to Another Location It is not common to keep the Database on the same location where OS is installed. Usually Database files are in SAN, Separate Disk Array or on SSDs. This is done usually for performance reason and manageability perspective. Now the challenges comes up when database which was installed at not preferred default location and needs to move to a different location. Here is the quick tutorial how you can do it. UNION ALL and ORDER BY – How to Order Table Separately While Using UNION ALL If your requirement is such that you want your top and bottom query of the UNION resultset independently sorted but in the same result set you can add an additional static column and order by that column. Let us re-create the same scenario. For this I have enabled following policies in User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Network\Network connections Enable Windows 2000 network connection settings for administrators Prohibit access to properties of a LAN connection Prohibit access to properties of components a LAN connection Users (that exist in administrators) still can change the LAN properties. • Resetting network adapter?

  I'm running Ubuntu 12.04. I get a strong wireless signal throughout my house, and the wireless symbol in the upper-right-hand corner shows that it's connected. The problem is, occasionally I am unable to access the internet (still having a strong symbol). This happened with Windows 7, too, but running the network troubleshooter fixed it each time. It claimed to be "resetting the network adapter". So, what I need to know is: How do I replicate that process on Ubuntu? Thanks for your help!

  Diariamente estamos em contato com diversas tecnologias, muitas delas complementares ou realizam tarefas muito semelhantes como o caso dos tablets X smartphones. Não podemos negar o quanto estas tecnologias passaram a fazer parte do hábito diário universalmente, alterando o padrão como consumimos informação, e até mesmo como utilizamos ou utilizávamos o computador.Basicamente existem 2 tipos de inovação:1 – incremental – que ocorre de acordo com as melhorias, ajustas, releituras e evolução de um produto. Este tipo de inovação podemos ver em automóveis, que seguem o mesmo princípio, porém quando comparamos um automóvel atual com um fabricado a 20 anos atrás, podemos perceber as inovações incrementais que alteraram o produto.2 – disruptiva – este tipo de inovação geralmente causar um novo momento, é até uma alteração do hábito de uso dos produtos. Foi o caso da revolução industrial, que automatizou processos de produção, ou da câmera digital que alterou a forma como habitualmente fotos eram tiradas e reveladas.Dentro deste processo existe uma curva de adoção tecnológica, esta curva foi criada americano Everett M. Rogers, PHd em sociologia e estatística.Em seu livro “The diffusion of inovations” (1962) – em português – A difusão das inovações, Rogers apresenta após diversas análises e estudos a curva de adoção tecnológica, Roger´s é o criador do termo Early Adopters muito utilizado nos dias de hoje.Abaixo podemos entender a curva de adoção:2,5% da população são os Innovators/Inovadores – eles possuem acesso á qualquer inovação antes de todos, por questões sociais, influência, conhecimento. São as pessoas que tem acesso a inovação antes que ela esteja disponível no mercado. 13,50 % são os Early Adopters, pessoas e empresa que por uma questão comportamental buscam ter as inovações assim que são lançadas, frente a isso existe uma série de vantagens e desvantagens. Estar à frente do mercado muitas vezes significa utilizar coisas que o mercado ainda não utiliza, por isso este comportamento pode colocar muitas empresas a frente de seus concorrentes mais tradicionais. Há também o risco da inovação não ser 100% aceita, ou passar por algum processo de ajuste, mas certamente os early adopters conseguem explanar melhor sobra visão de futuro.34% são os Early Majority, nesta fase da adoção muitas pessoas/empresas são influenciadas pelos early adopters, bem como inicia-se uma clico “natural” de busca por inovação. 34% são os late majority, ou seja empresas/pessoas que esperam que todos utilizem e adotam quase na última onda.Ao final temos 16% os laggards – retardatários, empresas e pessoas que só adotam inovações porque não possuem mais saída frente as alterações causadas, e precisam de alguma forma sobreviver frente as mudanças.Frente a este cenário onde você este inserido? • RTL8188CU USB Network Adaptor on ubuntu 13.04

  I have an RTL8188CU USB Network Adaptor. On Ubuntu 12.10 I had to download RTL8188C_8192C_USB_linux_v3.4.4_4749.20121105 because the built-in rtl8192cu driver did not work on the 64bit system (Tested fine on 32bit). Now I have upgraded to Ubuntu 13.04 and of cause the switch from kernel 3.4 to 3.8 broke the compatibility with the driver source. And (Like I suspected), the 64bit issue with rtl8192cu has still not been resolved. Since Realtek has not yet provided a new driver source, I have no working network on my computer (I use USB Tethering from my mobile at the moment). I tried downloading the Windows driver and set it up with ndiswrapper, but as soon as I activate the ndiswrapper module while having that driver installed, I get a kernel panic. Since I cannot be the only one using this USB Adaptor, I wanted to see if someone else might have found a solution to get something working? Someone might even have a solution as to why the built-in 64bit driver does not work?

• User Produtivity Kit - Powerful Packages (Part 1)

  User Productivity Kit provides the ability to create a variety of content types including robust topics on system process and web pages with formatted text and graphics. There are times when you want to enhance content with media types not naively created by User Productivity Kit, media types such as video, custom animations, forms, and more. One method of doing this is to maintain these media files on a web server - separate from the User Productivity Kit player content and link to the files using absolute URLs such as http://myserver/overview.html. While this will get you going, you won't benefit from the content management capabilities of the UPK Developer. Features such as check-in / check-out, history, document properties, folder permissions and more are not available to this external content. Further, if you ever need to move that content to a server with a different name or domain, you'd need to update all your links. UPK version 3.1 introduced a new document type - the package. A package is a group of folders and files that you manage in the Developer library as a single document. These package documents work in the same manner as any other document in the library and you can use all of the collaborative content development features you see with other document types. Packages can be used for anything from single Word documents, PDF files, and graphics to more intricate sets of inter-related files commonly seen with HTML files and their graphics, style sheets, and JavaScript files. The structure of the files and folders within a package will always be preserved so this means that any relative links between files in the package will work. For example, an HTML file containing an image tag with a relative link to a graphic elsewhere in the same package will continue to function properly both when viewed in the Developer and when published to outputs such as the UPK Player. Once you start to use packages, you'll soon discover that there is a lot of existing content that can be re-purposed by placing it into UPK packages. Packages are easily created by selecting File...New...Package. Files can be added in a number of ways including the "Add Files" button, copy & paste from Windows Explorer, and drag & drop. To use one of the files in the package, just create a link to the file in the package you want to target. This is supported throughout the Developer in places such as section & topic concepts, frame links and hyperlinks in web pages. A little more challenging is determining how to structure packages in your library. As I mentioned earlier, a package can contain anything from a single file to dozens of files and folders. So what should you do? You could create a package for each file. You could create one package for all your files. But which one is right? Well, there's not a right and wrong answer to this question. There are advantages and disadvantages to each. The right decision will be influenced by the package files themselves, the structure of the content in the library, the size and working style of the development team, how content is shared between different outlines and more. The first consideration can be assessed the quickest. If the content to be placed in the package is composed of multiple files and those files reference each other, they should be in the same package. There are loads of examples of this type of content. HTML files with graphics and style sheets, HTML files with embedded Flash movies, and Word documents saved as HTML are all examples where the content is composed of multiple files and the files reference each other in some way. Content like this should always be placed in a singe package such that these relative links between the files are preserved and play properly in the UPK Player. • Aliased network interfaces and isc dhcp server

  I have been banging my head on this for a long time now. There are many discussions on the net about this and similar problems, but none of the solutions seems to work for me. I have a Debian server with two ethernet network interfaces. One of them is connected to internet, while the other is connected to my LAN. The LAN network is 10.11.100.0 (netmask 255.255.255.0). We have some custom hardware that use network 10.4.1.0 (netmask 255.255.255.0) and we can't change that. But we need all hosts on 10.11.100.0 to be able to connect to devices on 10.4.1.0. So I added an alias for the LAN network interface so that the Debian server acts as a gateway between 10.11.100.0 and 10.4.1.0. But then the dhcp server stopped working. The log says: No subnet declaration for eth1:0 (no IPv4 addresses). ** Ignoring requests on eth1:0. If this is not what you want, please write a subnet declaration in your dhcpd.conf file for the network segment to which interface eth1:1 is attached. ** No subnet declaration for eth1:1 (no IPv4 addresses). ** Ignoring requests on eth1:1. If this is not what you want, please write a subnet declaration in your dhcpd.conf file for the network segment to which interface eth1:1 is attached. ** I had another server before, also running Debian but with the older dhcp3 server, and it worked without any problems. I've tried everything I can think of in dhcpd.conf etc, and I've also compared with the working configuration in the old server. The dhcp server need only handle devices on 10.11.100.0. Any hints? Here's all relevant config files: /etc/default/isc-dhcp-server INTERFACES="eth1" /etc/network/interfaces (I've left out eth0, that connects to the Internet, since there is no problem with that.) auto eth1:0 iface eth1:0 inet static address 10.11.100.202 netmask 255.255.255.0 auto eth1:1 iface eth1:1 inet static address 10.4.1.248 netmask 255.255.255.0 /etc/dhcp/dhcpd.conf ddns-update-style none; option domain-name "???.com"; option domain-name-servers ?.?.?.?; default-lease-time 86400; max-lease-time 604800; authorative; subnet 10.11.100.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 { option subnet-mask 255.255.255.0; pool { range 10.11.100.50 10.11.100.99; } option routers 10.11.100.102; } I have tried to add shared-network etc, but didn't manage to get that to work. • Fixing Broken Links to Entries on This Blog

  I just found out that some built in redirects that were in place on the Oracle Blogging platform were removed, and as a result there is a good chance that if you were directed to an entry on this blog that is a bit older you'll get a 404 error. Luckily there is a simple URL hack that you can use to fix this - switch the "year/month" part for "entry" and then remove the ".html" from the URL. So for example instead of :  https://blogs.oracle.com/shay/2010/10/passing_parameters_to_adf_appl.html use: https://blogs.oracle.com/shay/entry/passing_parameters_to_adf_appl I fixed the links on my "Archives" page so you can also look for the entry by title there. Sorry for any inconvenience.

• SQL SERVER – Enable PowerPivot Plugin in Excel

  Recently I had interesting experience at one conference. My PowerPivot plugin got disabled and I had no clue how to enable the same. After while, I figured out how to enable the same. Once I got back from the event, I searched online and realize that many other people online are facing the same problem. Here is how I solved the problem. When I started Excel it did not load PowerPivot plugin. I found in option>> Add in the plug in to be disabled. I enabled the plugin and it worked very well. Let us see that with images.
