  • Rotate MapView in Android

    I am writing an Android app where one of the features is that the map will rotate according to the compass (i.e. if the phone is pointing east, the map will be oriented so that the east side of the map is on top). Previous answers that I have found suggested over writing the onDraw() method in mapView, however, the api changed the method to final so it cannot be overwritten.   • Android map overly transparency has unwanted gradient

    I'm a making my first android app and for part of it I need some shaded areas over a mapview. I've got this working so far but the when I set the alpha of the fill colour, it goes strange.     Guys; Hope you are fine. I have to make a Web Project (very simple) I will have a DB with 2 tables. One table has 2 fields. From the WebPage I need a Google like search query, for example I have Movie Title and Movie Review on the Table. I need to be able to search those 2 fields like this: "Best Movie" + Action I will need to make a query to the DB to search for the "Best Movie" string togheter plus optional ACTION word on 2 fields of the table. Am I clear??? :) Does somebody know if this has already been made, and if it´s public and free and where to get it :) Thanks in advanced EDIT: My concern is to translate the Google like Symbols ("", +, -, ~) to build a valid query.

    I am considering a web application that would have the same kind of multi user, automatic saving, infinite undo / replay capabilities that you see in Google Wave and Etherpad (albeit on a drastically smaller scale and userbase). Before I go away and reinvent the wheel, is this something that has already been addressed as either a piece of technology or library, or even just a design pattern. I know this isn't necessarily the best Stack Overflow question as there is probably not a "right" answer, but my Google-fu has failed me and I'd just like a reading list! Ordinarily I would be developing under python/django but this is not a firm requirement just a preference :)

I have narrowed it all down to the fact that my signature-generation code has an error of some sort; what it is I have no idea.     Hi I am having a problem getting onprogress event for the audio tag working on chrome. it seems to work on fire fox. http://www.scottandrew.com/pub/html5audioplayer/ works on chrome but there is no progress bar update.   • Where should I put zoomIn in my MapActivity?

    I'm writing an Android app, and I'd like to zoomIn as soon as the map has been loaded. I get the following error: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: width and height must be > 0 This MapActivity - width and height must be > 0 question suggests the problem is the zoomIn() method is in the onCreate() method. But I get same error when I put it in the onResume() method. I've been searching for hours and I can't find anything about it at http://developer.android.com or anywhere else... Also I can't find a way to get the time point the map has been loaded. A "MapLoadedListener" or something like that...   • Bing Map on Windows Phone - add click events to pushpins; display more details

    I have a WP Phone app using a Bing Map control. I have an array of objects, and each object has a location. I iterate the array to place the pins on the map (see below). I have a touch event bound to each pin to allow the user to tap the pin to start an action. Now - I would like, on tap, to show information from the object that relates to that pin to be shown in a textbox.   • Does Google crawl AJAX content?

    On the home page of my site I use JQuery's ajax function to pull down a list of recent activity of users. The recent activity is displayed on the page, and each line of the recent activity includes a link to the user profile of the user who did the activity. Will Google actually make the ajax call to pull down this info and use it in calculating page relevancy / link juice flow? I'm hoping that it does not because the user profile pages are not very Google index worthy, and I don't want all those links to the User profile pages diluting my home page's link juice flow away from other more important links.

    Now I have the coordinate of two locations, let say locationA with latitude 40 and longitude -80, locationB with latitude 30 and longitude -70, I want to create a mapView that I can see both locations with appropriate viewing distance. I got the new coordinate by finding the midpoint (in this example, {35, -75}), but the question is, How can I get an appropriate viewing distance? In particular, how can I calculate CLLocationDistance (if I'm using MKCoordinateRegionMakeWithDistance) or MKCoordinateSpan (if I'm using MKCoordinateSpanMake). Thanks in advance.

    Is there a simple way to get driving instructions? Something like: I call "http://someservice/?start=NYC&target=Washington" and then the service returns a XML file containing routing information? Has anybody ever tried to access such a web-based service from a standalone desktop application? Any help would really be appreciated! Update: Thanks for the hints, but unfortunately I can't run JavaScript. Is there still a possibility to receive driving instructions?

  • Randomly Losing Session Variables Only In Google Chrome & URL Rewriting

    Using Google Chrome, I'm seemingly losing/corrupting session data when navigating between pages (PHP 5.0.4, Apache 2.0.54). The website works perfectly fine in IE7/8, Firefox, Safari & Opera. The issue is only with Google Chrome. I narrowed down the problem. I'm using search friendly URL's, and hiding my front controller (index.php) via a .htaccess file. So the URL looks like: www.domain.com/blah/blah/ Here's the .htaccess file contents: Options +FollowSymlinks RewriteEngine on #allow cool urls RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*) index.php [L] #allow to have Url without index.php If I remove the .htaccess file, and expose the front controller in the URL: www.domain.com/index.php/blah/blah/, Chrome works perfectly fine. Any thoughts ideas? I'm thinking it's some kind of problem with how Chrome identifies what cookie to use and send to the server? This happens in Chrome 4 & 5. Thanks!

    I have a function that shows a map page so I can get the user to choose their current location.     I have the Lat/Long value of New York City, NY; 40.7560540,-73.9869510 and a flat image of the earth, 1000px × 446px. I would like to be able to convert, using Javascript, the Lat/Long to an X,Y coordinate where the point would reflect the location. So the X,Y coordinate form the Top-Left corner of the image would be; 289, 111 Things to note: don't worry about issues of what projection to use, make your own assumption or go with what you know might work X,Y can be form any corner of the image Bonus points for the same solution in PHP (but I really need the JS)

  • Android: Constructing a triangle based on Geographical information

    Hi Guys, I'm constructing a geolocation based application and I'm trying to figure out a way to make my application realise when a user is facing the direction of the given location (a particular long / lat co-ord). I've got the math figured, I just have the triangle to construct. Here's a further clarification of what I want to do.. I just want to know is there a way to get java to construct 2 other co-ordinates based on my orientation in relation to true north and my current co-ordinate? I'd like to construct a tri-angle, 45 degrees out each way of my current location (one of the points) and 1 kilometer in that direction. The problem is I don't know how to make Android/Java recognise that I want to find that point in the direction I'm currently facing.. Anyone got any ideas?

  • Translate GPS coordinates to location on PDF Map

    Hi everyone, I'd like to know (from a high level view) what would be required to take a pdf floor plan of a building and determine where exactly you are on that floor plan using GPS coordinates? In addition to location, the user would be presented with a "turn by turn" directions to another point on the map, navigating down hallways, between cubicles, etc. Use case: an iPhone app that determined a user's location and guided them to a conference room or person's office in the building. I realize that this is by no means trivial, but any help is appreciated. Thanks!
