    This is a crucial question to many: Searching the web, I have found several command line tools that allow you to convert a HTML-document to a PDF-document, however they all seem to use their own, and rather incomplete rendering engine, resulting in poor quality How can you print the rendered output of a modern web-browser to pdf, (and/or svg) whilst retaining as much vector graphics as possible? There is a solution called: webkit-pdf (which renders everything to bitmap graphics) I am looking for options, alternatives, suggestions perhaps even a printer-driver or webservices? Thanks

  • Redhat linux terminal garbage output when using telnet

    I am using redhat-linux terminal to connect to a router device by means of 'telnet'. While the device boots, the characters are getting printed in garbage manner which is as follows, In terminal, If I click on the the menu 'Terminal'-- 'Reset', then it is getting changed to proper alphabetical. Is there any way available to prevent it ? I have tried setting the encoding of the terminal to UTF-8 from the menu options. But, still the same issue.

  • Is there a way to specify minimum minibuffer/echo area size in emacs?

    I am running Emacs 24, and due to a separate issue, my input method displays input candidates in the minibuffer regardless of how I set its options. That would not be such a problem if the minibuffer did not resize from height 2 (when displaying candidates) to height 1 (when not), repeatedly, as I scroll through candidates--it's really jarring. I looked through the documentation online and searched the configuration pages, but I couldn't find a setting for this. Is it possible?

    OS:WinXP Say I got some files in Chinese and some files in Korean. And in windows 'Region and Language Options', I set language for non-unicode program = Chinese. Is there any way that I can read some Korean text file in text editor easily without using Microsoft Word? I need an environment that can support multiple unicode easily, I need to read Chinese, Japanese, Korean in text editor (Ultraeditor, notepad++) and terminal clients like SecureCRT.   • What user is the script run as after Carbon Copy Cloner ends scheduled task?

    On Mac OS X I keep data on a local server mirrored with the same data on a remote server with a scheduled backup task done with Carbon Copy Cloner. After the backup is done a bash script is run as specified in the scheduled task options of CCC. Is the script run as root? Or differently and more generally: as my script writes to a log file, what command should I put on my script to see on the log if the script is running as root or something else?

  • Amarok 2.1.1 Does not go to the next song

    Hi, I just updated Amarok from KDE3 version and it looks a bit weird and different. But my problem is after I updated my music collection and started to play it (it is all loaded into my playlist), amarok doesn't start next song after the current song is finished. I have repeat(repeat playlist) and random(random tracks) options enabled. Thanks.

  • What is the registry key for 'Enhanced Pointer Precision' option in the Mouse Properties

    I use a Razer mouse at work, and though the mouse is supercool, it's driver always removes the 'Enhanced Pointer Precision' option from the Pointer Options tab found in the Mouse Properties of Control Panel on startup. If I could find the correct registry setting to set this option 'on' whenever Windows starts, it would solve my problem. I've tried finding the correct key using Process Monitor, I didn't get success. Anyone know the key??

    In Vista and before, new programs attempting an ingoing or outgoing connection would cause a Windows prompt whether to allow or deny the program as a rule. In Windows 7 I seem to have to manually enter rules. Is there any way to get Windows 7 to ask me on its own? Edit : The options MrStatic points to in his answer are already turned on. I've discovered this is due to the Finder trying to render an icon preview of every music file and PDF it encounters. Over the network, this can take a long time. I know I can turn off icon previews on a per-folder basis using the "View Options" dialog. Is it possible to change these settings globally?

  • How can I make monodevelop render text in KDE?

    Monodevelop from git in KDE 4.10.2 does not render text in code edit tabs I tried with xfce and text is rendered ok there. I tried disabling composition with alt shift f12 and restarting x server but it was no better. I also tried disabling font softening in monodevelop options and disabling plugins. I also tried temporarily deleting my KDE profile. This is dual screen setup on Nvidia with nouveau. OS is slackware64-current.

  • forcing itunes tags to the file itself

    How do I make itunes save tagging information to the file itself? I tagged a file and then loaded it into a different itunes library on a different computer via a NFS share. The tagging info wasn't present which leads me to believe the tagging info is only stored in the itunes DB. Update I'm specifically concerned about movies files, so if you RClick - Get info Options - Media Kind (Movies/TV/etc) Video - Show/Episode/Season These tags don't seem to be saved to the file itself, this is lame.

  • Wireless traffic stops when downloading large files at high speed: packets lost (Linksys WRT120N router)

    The problem Note: First I'd like to understand WHY this is happening. Ofcourse, a solution would be nice too. :) When downloading a large file over HTTP at high-speeds, my wireless traffic basically stops: I can't open webpages and the download itself pauses. It pauses pretty much immediately after starting it; sometimes at 800 KB, sometimes at a few MB. After some time, the download (and other traffic) resumes, but the problem keeps reoccurring during the same download. The problem does not occur when using a wired connection through the same router (Linskys WRT120N). Also note that the connection is not dropped when this happens. It's just that the traffic stops and I can't browse to web pages, etc. (SYN packets are sent but nothing is received, etc.) Inspection with Wireshark shows that the following happens: Server sends data packets which are acknowledged by client Server sends a packet, but SEQ indicates some packets were lost (6 packets in one occurrence). Server sends a few more packets and client acknowledges these using "selective acknowledgement" Server stops sending data for a while (since the lost packets were not acknowledged or the router stops forwarding them?) Eventually, server does a "retransmission" and traffic resumes as normal. This all seems normal behavior to me when packet loss occurs. It's the consistent packet loss throughout a large, high-speed download that puzzles me. What might cause this? My own idea is the following: My internet is pretty fast (100 mbps), so when starting a large-file download, the router buffers the incoming data (since wireless introduces some slight delay / lower speed, in part due to other networks), but the buffer overflows and the router drops packets to regulate traffic (and because it has no choice). But how could that happen? Doesn't the TCP window size limit the amount of data that can go unacknowledged? So how can the router's buffer overflow if there can only be like 64 KB waiting to be acknowledged? Note: I've disabled TCP window scaling and dynamic window size through netsh options, in an attempt to fix this, but it doesn't seem to matter. Also, Wireshark shows a pattern of the server sending 2 packets (of 1514 bytes) and the client sending an ACK, so does that rule out a possible buffer overflow? And a few more subsequent packets are received... I'm at a loss here. Thanks for any insights.   • How to set the subversion repository root in Debian?

    I have just switched from an old Fedora Core server to Debian Linux v5.0.4. Having migrated the old repository and configured access through svn+ssh, I now want to be able to access the repository with the same path on the client as before. On Fedora you could specify the repository root with "svnserve -r " but having checked the config files and svnadmin options I'm stuck as to how I can do this on Debian. Is there a way to set the repository root in Debian?
