• Can't get heroku work with rails 3.x postgresql

  I followed Heroku official guides to push rails project to heroku. The application.rb file is ok, I added pg gem and database.yml in the right way. • Mercurial "hg clone" on Windows via ssh with plink issue

  I have a Windows Server 2008 machine (iis7) that has CopSSH set up on it. To connect to it, I have a Windows 7 machine with Mercurial 1.5.1 (and TortoiseHg) installed. I can connect to the server using PuTTY with a non-standard ssh port and a .ppk file just fine. So I know the server can be SSH'd into. Next, I wanted to use the CLI to connect via hg clone to get a private repo. I've seen elsewhere that you need to have ssh configured in your mercurial.ini file, so my mercurial.ini has a line: ssh = plink.exe -ssh -C -l username -P #### -i "C:/Program Files/PuTTY/Key Files/KyleKey.ppk" Note: username is filled in with the username I set up via copSSH. #### is filled in with the non-standard ssh port I've defined for copSSH. I try to do the command hg clone ssh://inthom.com but I get this error: remote: bash: inthom.com: command not found abort: no suitable response from remote hg! It looks like hg or plink parses the hostname such that it thinks that inthom.com is a command instead of the server to ssh to. That's really odd. Next, I tried to just use plink to connect by plink -P #### ssh://inthom.com, and I am then prompted for my username, and next password. I enter them both and then I get this error: bash: ssh://inthom.com: No such file or directory So now it looks like plink doesn't parse the hostname correctly. I fiddled around for a while trying to figure out how to do call hg clone with an empty ssh:// field and eventually figured out that this command allows me to reach the server and clone a test repo on the inthom.com server: hg clone ssh://!/Repos/test ! is the character I've found that let's me leave the hostname blank, but specify the repo folder to clone. What I really don't understand is how plink knows what server to ssh to at all. neither my mercurial.ini nor the command specify a server. None of the hg clone examples I've seen have a ! character. They all use an address, which makes sense, so you can connect to any repo via ssh that you want to clone. My only guess is that it somehow defaults to the last server I used PuTTY to SSH to, but I SSH'd into another server, and then tried to use plink to get to it, but plink still defaults to inthom.com (verified with the -v arg to plink). So I am at a loss as to how plink gets this server value at all. For "fun", I tried using TortoiseHg and can only clone a repo when I use ssh://!/Repos/test as the Source. Now, you can see that, since plink doesn't parse the hostname correctly, I had to specify the port number and username in the mercurial.ini file, instead of in the hostname like [email protected]:#### like you'd expect to. Trying to figure this out at first drove me insane, because I would get errors that the host couldn't be reached, which I knew shouldn't be the case. My question is how can I configure my setup so that ssh://[email protected]:####/Repos/test is parsed correctly as the username, hostname, port number, and repo to copy? Is it something wrong with the version of plink that I'm using, or is there some setting I may have messed up? If it is plink's fault, is there an alternative tool I can use? I'm going to try to get my friend set up to connect to this same repo, so I'd like to have a clean solution instead of this ! business. Especially when I have no idea how plink gets this default server, so I'm not sure if he'd even be able to get to inthom.com correctly. PS. I've had to use a ton of different tutorials to even get to this stage. Therefore, I haven't tried pushing any changes to the server yet. Hopefully I'll get this figured out and then I can try pushing changes to the repo.

  I have a script, testforeground.php, that kicks off a background script, testbackground.php, then returns while the background script continues to run until it's finished. Both the foreground and background scripts write to the output file correctly when I run the foreground script from the command line using php-cgi: C:\>php-cgi testforeground.php The above command starts a php-cgi.exe process, then a php-win.exe process, then closes the php-cgi.exe almost immediately, while the php-win.exe continues until it's finished. • JPA IndirectSet changes not reflected in Spring frontend

  I'm having an issue with Spring JPA and IndirectSets. I have two entities, Parent and Child, defined below. I have a Spring form in which I'm trying to create a new Child and link it to an existing Parent, then have everything reflected in the database and in the web interface. What's happening is that it gets put into the database, but the UI doesn't seem to agree. Now, the problem is that when I edit those simple properties from my Spring interface, everything works beautifully. I can persist new entities of these types and they'll appear when using the JPATemplate to do a find on, say, all Parents (getJpaTemplate().find("select p from Parent p")) or on individual entities by ID or another property. The problem I'm running into is that now, I'm trying to create a new Child linked to an existing Parent through a link from the Parent's page. When it gets back to the controller, it goes through and saves it to the underlying database, but the interface never reflects it. Once I restart the app, it's all there and populated appropriately. What can I do to clear this up? I've tried to call extra merges, tried refreshes (which gave a transaction exception), everything short of just writing my own database access code. I've made sure that every class has an appropriate equals() and hashCode(), have full JPA debugging on to see that it's making appropriate SQL calls (it doesn't seem to make any new calls to the Child table) and stepped through in the debugger (it's all in IndirectSets, as expected, and between saving and displaying the Parent the object takes on a new memory address). What's my next step?

• Application pool crashing regularly (8007006d) (Service Unavailable)

  I have a basic web form site running. Nothing out of the ordinary. It is frequently crashing the application pool. The error code I got from the logs is '8007006d'. Googling this does not come up with the usual bevy of results.... I do get a few people with a similar problem. Any the advise seems to be that the error is related to registry permissions. Can anyone confirm / disconfirm this theory. That if I get error 8007006d it is definately a reg permissions problem? Here is the code from my page. I'm not seeing anything that would cause a memory leak or make this happen. It is basically just one big insert command with many parameters? • Help debugging c fifos code - stack smashing detected - open call not functioning - removing pipes

  I have three bugs/questions regarding the source code pasted below: stack smashing deteced: In order to compile and not have that error I have addedd the gcc compile flag -fno-stack-protector. However, this should be just a temporary solution, since I would like to find where the cause for this is and correct it. However, I haven't been able to do so. Any clues? For some reason, the last open function call doesn't work and the programs just stops there, without an error, even though the fifo already exists. I want to delete the pipes from the filesystem after before terminating the processes. I have added close and unlink statements at the end, but the fifos are not removed. What am I doing wrong?   Hi everyone, I'm using a very nice jQuery content slider called Easy Slider on my site that I downloaded from Css Globe. The script is excellent and does just what I want - except I can't make it randomise the list, it always scrolls from left to right or right to left! I'm far from good with JavaScript, so my attempts at solving this have been feeble. Although I'm sure it must be an easy fix! If anyone wouldn't mind taking a glance over the script to see if they can spot what I need to change to make it random it would be greatly appreciated! I've tried contacting the original plugin developer but have had no response yet. The comments on the Easy Slider page didn't bear much fruit either unfortunately. • Oracle VM repository creation seems contradictory to its server pool?

  I found something contradictory in Oracle VM. Clustered server pool creation in Oracle VM would format my FC LUN as ocfs2 , and start o2cb & ocfs2 services to build cluster environment. After that, when I wanted to create repository on the serverpool, unexpectedly, it told me that the physical disk I chose which is also my FC LUN, already contains a file system. What a contradictory! So what, delete the file system in serverpool? If so, why created it before?!   Hello ! I have tried to sett my DC to get its time from several NTP severs. I follow this answer (http://serverfault.com/questions/24298/w32time-sync-problems-for-hyper-v-guests-w32time-event-ids-38-24-29-35/24299#24299) to do it. First I disable Time Synchronization in the Hyper-V Integration Services for each guest. Then restart the Windows Time serviceon the guest. I had before this used this command: w32tm /config /manualpeerlist:"ntp.uio.no;timekeeper. uio.no;nissen.uio.no;0.no.pool.ntp.org;1.no.pool.ntp.org;2.no.pool.ntp.org" /syn cfromflags:manual /reliable:yes /update And the cmd sad: The command completed successfully. But the time was still 10 min wrong... I run w32tm again after restarted the DC without it having any effect.   I have a small pile of Sun V20z computers. I was trying to update the SP and BIOS firmwares in order to bring them all up to the same standard -- mostly to get the updated (ie actually useful) SP functionality, and figured that I would just do the BIOS while I was at it. For three of the four computers, it worked perfectly. However after the BIOS update, the fourth system won't boot. I did this: batch05-mgmt $ sp get mounts Local Remote /mnt 10.16.0.8:/export/v20z batch05-mgmt $ platform set os state update-bios /mnt/sw_images/platform/firmware/bios/V1.35.3.2/bios.sp This command may take several minutes.   Some wireless access points are acting a little weird, so I want to reboot them every couple of hours. Luckily there exists a security flaw which lets me login as root through telnet when using port 1111 (without username and password). Now I want to use that to let my QNAP NAS execute the reboot command through telnet every now and then. The problem is however that that telnet version doesn't give any response if I connect to the AP. The telnet I use on OSX works just fine but the one on the NAS not. BusyBox v1.01 (2012.06.14-18:35+0000) multi-call binary Usage: telnet [-a] [-l USER] HOST [PORT] When I execute telnet <HOST> 1111 nothing happens. I can send the escape character ^] which gives me the following options: Console escape. Commands are: l go to line mode c go to character mode z suspend telnet e exit telnet The only way to get some commands executed is by suspending telnet with z followed by some random command which isn't recognized. Then the prompt shows this: # telnet 192.168.1.5 1111 ^] Console escape. Commands are: l go to line mode c go to character mode z suspend telnet e exit telnet z continuing... asdf Illegal command. 00> After that I am able to communicate with the AP, but when I exit the telnet session and try the same again, the AP refuses to connect at all and it must be manually rebooted (looks like the telnet session isn't shut down properly on the AP). So the question is what commands should I execute in order to communicate with the AP using the Busybox telnet version of the QNAP? (No, can't use ssh unfortunately)

• Handle filename with spaces inside Bash-script

  In my Bash-script i have to handle filenames with spaces. • Ubuntu 9.10 RSA authentication: ssh fails, filezilla runs fine

  This is quite a mistery for me. I usually use passwordless RSA authentication to login into my remote *nix servers with ssh and sftp. Never had any problem until now. • Megacli is killing me, any help appreciated

  I run a server with 2 drives in raid0 configured through BIOS. I just added 2 more drives using hotplug (the server is dell r610 with RHEL 5.4 64bit) and I would like to configure a separate raid0 partition on these drives. • PHP CLI not respecting memory limit in php.ini

  I am using drush, which is a command-line php app to manage a drupal website. I am running a command to import a lot of data, which is causing me to hit php's memory limit. PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 536870912 bytes exhausted ... Which is 512MB if I'm doing the math correctly (536870912 / 1024 / 1024 = 512). I've changed the directive in the php.ini that drush uses: $> drush status ... PHP configuration : /etc/php5/cli/php.ini $> grep memory /etc/php5/cli/php.ini ; Maximum amount of memory a script may consume (128MB) ; http://php.net/memory-limit memory_limit = 1024M But I'm still hitting the 512 MB limit! I am running in a virtual machine, whose memory settings I changed from 512 to 1025 MB of RAM to allow drush to run. $> free -m total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 1010 578 431 0 14 392 -/+ buffers/cache: 172 837 Swap: 382 0 382 So it says it has some 431 MB free, now that I've bumped the vm up to 1024. I guess half the memory is being used to run the GUI, but I don't understand how the GUI was running okay when the vm had 512 MB of ram. Why is the PHP cli still hitting a 512 MB memory limit? If it was hitting a system memory limit, shouldn't it die around 431MB, which is what the free command says is available?

• WS2008 subst in Logon script does not "stick"

  I have a terminal server environment exclusively with Windows Server 2008. My problem is that I need to "map" a drive letter to each users Temp folder. This is due to a legacy app that requries a separate Temp folder for each user but which does not understand %temp%. So, just add "subst t: %temp%" to the logon script, right? The problem is that, even though the command runs, the subst doesn't "stick" and the user doesn't get a T: drive. Here is what I have tried; The simplest version: 'Mapping a temp drive Set WinShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell") WinShell.Run "subst T: %temp%", 2, True That didn't work, so tried this for more debug information: 'Mapping a temp drive Set WinShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell") Set procEnv = WinShell.Environment("Process") wscript.echo(procEnv("TEMP")) tempDir = procEnv("TEMP") WinShell.Run "subst T: " & tempDir, 3, True This shows me the correct temp path when the user logs in - but still no T: Drive. Decided to resort to brute force and put this in my login script: 'Mapping a temp drive Set WinShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell") WinShell.Run "\\domain\sysvol\esl.hosted\scripts\tempdir.cmd", 3, True where \domain\sysvol\esl.hosted\scripts\tempdir.cmd has this content: echo on subst t: %temp% pause When I log in with the above then the command window opens up and I can see the subst command being executed correctly, with the correct path. But still no T: drive. I have tried running all of the above scripts outside of a login script and they always work perfectly - this problem only occurs when doing it from inside a login script. I found a passing reference on an MSFN forum about a similar problem when the user is already logged on to another machine - but I have this problem even without being logged on to another machine. Any suggestion on how to overcome this will be much appreciated.

• Remote RIB iLO on Proliant via RIBCL

  I'm trying to automate a process for our Ops. The process requires that some windows servers running on blades are shut down, left down for a few hours, the restarted when some other processes complete. This is done by an op logging on to each blade's iLO web interface to stop and start. I've been trying to automate this with HP's cpqlocfg program with partial success. I can issue the GET_POWER, GET_USER_INFO, etc commands but SET_HOST_POWER fails in a specific way. Using the cpqlocfg GET_EVENTLOG command I can see the events XML login and the power comand being issued from the iLO interface but then nothing happens. Some hints from googling suggest ACPI isn't configured properly but I can't find any hits on how to verify this. Am I even using the right command? There's also a few other options like PRESS_PWR_BUTTON etc. Problem is I have nowhere to test this, all I can do at the moment is give a script to ops and ask them to try it as 4am on a Sunday when they try the proc. The shutdown is trivial as I can use the windows "shutdown" command, it's the power on that I need help on. Anyone done this? I'd tag this "rib ribcl ilo" but lack the rep points, sorry.

• Problems configuring an SSH tunnel to a Nexentastor appliance for use with headless Crashplan

  Problem I am attempting to configure an SSH tunnel to a NexentaStor appliance from either a Windows or Linux computer so that I can connect a Crashplan Desktop GUI to a headless Crashplan server running on the Nexenta box, according to these instructions on the Crashplan support site: Connect to a Headless CrashPlan Desktop. So far, I've failed to get a working SSH tunnel from from either either a Windows client (using Putty) or a Linux client (using command line SSH). I'm fairly sure the problem is at the receiving end with NexentaStor. A blog article - CrashPlan for Backup on Nexenta - indicates that it could be made to work only after "after enabling TCP forwarding in Nexenta in /etc/ssh/sshd_config" - although I'm not sure how to go about that or specifically what I need to do. Things I have tried Ensuring the Crashplan server on the Nexenta box is listening on port 4243 $ netstat -na | grep LISTEN | grep 42 127.0.0.1.4243 *.* 0 0 131072 0 LISTEN *.4242 *.* 0 0 65928 0 LISTEN Establishing a tunnel from a Linux host: $ ssh -L 4200:localhost:4243 admin:10.0.0.56 and then, from another terminal on the Linux host, using telnet to verify the tunnel: $ telnet localhost 4200 Trying ::1... Connected to localhost. Escape character is #^]'. with nothing more, although the Crashplan server should respond with something. From Windows, using PuTTY have followed the instructions on the Crashplan support site to establish an equivalent tunnel, but then telnet on Windows gives me no response at all and the Crashplan GUI can't connect either. How can I establish a tunnel, and how can I verify that it is working?

• Problems during an update of cPanel / WHM

  I ordered a Master WHM account with the couple CentOS / cPanel. whm-cpanel.eu.pn The installation is a fresh update of the basic services was necessary (had: WHM 11.15.0 cPanel 11.17.0 WHM X v3.1.0, Apache 1.3.37, PHP 4.4.7, MySQL 4.1.22). 1 / I started to update cPanel / WHM via the command: / scripts / upcp. Everything went well until the middle of installing the server stopped responding (or ping, or ssh). The installation appears to have continued alone to the end and after some time everything is back to normal (I do not know if there was a reboot) and my interface was updated (cPanel 11.24.4-R36167 - WHM 11.24.2 - X 3.9). 2 / Then I updated via the MySQL interface tweak this in WHM then the command: / scripts / mysqlup. Here everything went fine, no problem. 3 / Finally, I wanted to upgrade Apache 2.2 / PHP 5 and I used this command: / scripts / easyapache. After selecting all the packages and modules installation is started but the same as for point 1: the server did not answer more and this time the installation did not go through. Apache 2.2 is well spent (after the second try) but PHP has remained at 4. I tried several times the same operation without success. I do not think this is a memory problem, a free-m shortly before losing communications gave nothing alarming. By cons CPU time seemed to rise up. I reinstalled the machine again the trick, same problem! Whether via the WHM interface or by Shell, the installation stops short, for 15 minutes the machine is not responding and then everything returns to normal, but no update is done in PHP. Is there a known bug in this version of cPanel / WHM? Someone he met the same problem? If I compile Apache / PHP manually, without using the script easyapache is what I might encounter problems with cPanel later? Thank you!

  I have made a bash command which generates a one liner for restarting all Weblogic ( 8,9,10) instances on a server /usr/ucb/ps auwwx | grep weblogic | tr ' ' '\n' | grep security.policy | grep domain | awk -F'=' '{print $2}' | sed 's/weblogic.policy//' | sed 's/security\///' | sort | sed 's/^/cd /' | sed 's/$/ ; cd .. ; \/recycle_script_directory_path\/recycle/ ;' | tr '\n' ' ' To restart a Weblogic instance, the recycle ( /recycle_script_directory_path/recycle/) script needs to be initiated from within the domain directory as the recycle script pulls some application information from some .ini files in the domain directory. The following part of the script generates a line to cd to the parent directory of the app i.e. the domain directory sed 's/$/ ; cd .. ; \/recycle_script_directory\/recycle/ ;' | tr '\n' ' ' I am sure there is a better way to cd to the parent directory like cd dirname but every time i run the following cd command , it throws a "Variable syntax" error. cd $(dirname '/domain_directory_path/app_name') How do i incorporate the cd to the directory name in a better way ?
