  • Sqlite3 activerecord :order => "time DESC" doesn't sort

    rails 2.3.4, sqlite3 I'm trying this Production.find(:all, :conditions = ["time ?", start_time.utc], :order = "time DESC", :limit = 100) The condition works perfectly, but I'm having problems with the :order = time DESC. By chance, I discovered that it worked at Heroku (testing with heroku console), which runs PostgreSQL. However, locally, using sqlite3, new entries will be sorted after old ones, no matter what I set time to. Like this (output has been manually stripped): second entry is new: Production id: 2053939460, time: "2010-04-24 23:00:04", created_at: "2010-04-24 23:00:05" Production id: 2053939532, time: "2010-04-25 10:00:00", created_at: "2010-04-27 05:58:30" Production id: 2053939461, time: "2010-04-25 00:00:04", created_at: "2010-04-25 00:00:04" Production id: 2053939463, time: "2010-04-25 01:00:04", created_at: "2010-04-25 01:00:04" Seems like it sorts on the primary key, id, not time. Note that the query works fine on heroku, returning a correctly ordered list! I like sqlite, it's so KISS, I hope you can help me... Any suggestions?

  • Trying to work with a multi-value array in LotusScript and sort of stuck

    I have to find a way to store a series of variables - MonthYear (the key) and a counter. The purpose of this is to track the number of documents processed by Month & Year. I was thinking of a list but I am not sure how to save the data so that it is readable and able to be shown in a table at a later date. I thought about using a multi-dimensional array - someArray(1,0 to 1) and ReDim'ing it each time I start a new MonthYear and then save it back to a field on the document but am not sure how that is going to play out. Does anyone have an idea of how I can accomplish this? The first dimension will be the MonthYear (key) and the second will be a counter that is updated every time a new document is processed. The key will be based on a field on the document being processed. How can I make sure I am updating the right key/counter combination? How can I retrieve the existing counter from the field on the document, update the counter and then replace the value? I thought about just adding a new element (ReDim) every time a document is processed and than somehow adding up all the counters for each key and storing that in an array, but that just seems real messy. There has to be a good way to do this. Any and all ideas will be greatly appreciated

Lets say I have a collection on words: happy beautiful happy lines pear gin happy lines rock happy lines pear How could I use php to count each instance of every word in the string and output it in a loop: There are $count instances of $word So that the above loop would output: There are 4 instances of happy.     I've searched all over web and have not found the answer. I'm trying to have a very standard archive option for my blog based on date.     I have an array I'm trying to asort using php. The problem is that the array has accented characters in it and needs to be sorted using "french" rules. cote < côte < coté < côté I've tried many things, like using php collators, but I get the following error : PHP Fatal error: Class 'Collator' not found I've also tried to set locale but it didn't do anything so I'm not sure I was doing it right, or if I need to isntall the locale. I'm a little confused. I'm using PHP 5.2.4 if that helps. If I use asort without anything, it puts all the words with accented characters at the end. Thanks.

I need to run a report that would return how many articles of each type there is per every day, like this: date | count(type="A") | count(type="B") | count(type="C") ----------------------------------------------------- 2010-01-01 | 2 | 1 | 0 2010-01-02 | 5 | 6 | 7 Currently I am running 3 queries for every type and then manually merging the results select date, count(id) from article where type="A" group by date Is it possible to do this in one query?     I want to filter a property within a range, but items that does not have the property should come last in the result. My solution was to set it to -1 if the property was not set. +(property:[10000000001 TO 10000000019] property:"-1"^0.5) This doesn't work, since every document with property:-1 get a very high score, for some reason. Is there a way to reliably control the sorting here? Boosting the range instead would mean I must boost every other term, which I'd rather not do.

    Hi, I want to split a string in C#.NET that looks like this: string Letters = "hello"; and put each letter (h, e, l, l, o) into an array or ArrayList. I have no idea what to use as the delimiter in String.Split(delimiter). I can do it if the original string has commas (or anything else): string Letters = "H,e,l,l,o"; string[] AllLettersArray = Letters.Split(",".ToCharArray()); But I have no idea what to use in a case with (supposedly) no delimiter. Is there a special character like Environment.Newline? Thanks.

    I am trying to solve this problem : https://www.spoj.pl/problems/CERC07S/ I have identified that i need a datastructure in which reversing operations have lesser time complexity. I tried to create one using a doubly linked list, in which (i thought) reversing can be done in O(1) by just changing a value associated with the starting and ending node which indicates the direction of traversing the list. I tried to implement it but got stuck. Maybe the approach is wrong! Are trees applicable here? If yes, how? Any ideas or links are appreciated? Thanks in advance.

    If anybody can help me to write a loop to iterate over files in a folder it would save me a huge amount of time. I think it must be quite a simple solution ,but I currently don't know how to nest a loop within a loop. So I'd need a loop that does this for file in folder, and also that uses the name of the file as part of the outputfile name so that I can match an output file to an inputfile.     This is probably a dumb question, but I've hit a wall with this one at this current time. I have some data which is hierarchial in nature which is in an ADO.NEt dataset. The first field is the ID, the second is the Name, the third is the Parent ID. ID NAME Parent ID 1 Air Handling NULL 2 Compressor 1 3 Motor 4 4 Compressor 1 5 Motor 2 6 Controller 4 7 Controller 2 So the tree would look like the following: 1- Air Handling 4- Compressor 6 - Controller 3 - Motor 2- Compressor 7- Controller 5 - Motor What I'm trying to figure our is how to get the dataset in the same order that ths would be viewed in a treeview, which in this case is the levels at the appropriate levels for the nodes and then the children at the appropriate levels sorted by the name. It would be like binding this to a treeview and then simply working your way down the nodes to get the right order. Any links or direction would be greatly appreciated.

    I'm trying to understand the space requirements for a Mergesort, O(n). I see that time requirements are basically, amount of levels(logn) * merge(n) so that makes (n log n). Now, we are still allocating n per level, in 2 different arrays, left and right. I do understand that the key here is that when the recursive functions return the space gets deallocated, but I'm not seeing it too obvious. Besides, all the info I find, just states space required is O(n) but don't explain it.
