  • Should I use parentheses in logical statements even where not necessary?

    - by Jeff Bridgman
    Let's say I have a boolean condition a AND b OR c AND d and I'm using a language where AND has a higher order of operation precedent than OR. I could write this line of code: If (a AND b) OR (c AND d) Then ... But really, that's equivalent to: If a AND b OR c AND d Then ... Are there any arguments in for or against including the extraneous parentheses? Does practical experience suggest that it is worth including them for readability? Or is it a sign that a developer needs to really sit down and become confident in the basics of their language?

  • What's the best way to match a query to a set of keywords?

    - by Ryan Detzel
    Pretty much what you would assume Google does. Advertisers come in and big on keywords, lets say "ipod", "ipod nano", "ipod 60GB", "used ipod", etc. Then we have a query, "I want to buy an ipod nano" or "best place to buy used ipods" what kind of algorithms and systems are used to match those queries to the keyword set. I would imagine that some of those keyword sets are huge, 100k keywords made up of one or more actual words. on top of that queries can be 1-n words as well. Any thoughts, links to wikipedia I can start reading? From what I know already I would use some stemmed hash in disk(CDB?) and a bloom filter to check to see if I should even go to disk.

    What i want to do is search a hashset with a keyword.. I have 3 classes... main() Library Item(CD, DVD,Book classes) In library i am trying to do my search of the items in the hashsets.. In Item class is where i have the getKeywords function.. here is the Items class... import java.io.PrintStream; import java.util.Collection; import java.util.*; class Item { private String title; private String [] keywords; public String toString() { String line1 = "title: " + title + "\n" + "keywords: " + Arrays.toString(keywords); return line1; } public void print() { System.out.println(toString()); } public Item() { } public Item(String theTitle, String... theKeyword) { this.title = theTitle; this.keywords = theKeyword; } public String getTitle() { return title; } public String [] getKeywords() { return keywords; } } class CD extends Item { private String artist; private String [] members; // private String [] keywords; private int number; public CD(String theTitle, String theBand, int Snumber, String... keywords) { super(theTitle, keywords); this.artist = theBand; this.number = Snumber; // this.keywords = keywords; } public void addband(String... member) { this.members = member; } public String getArtist() { return artist; } public String [] getMembers() { return members; } // public String [] getKeywords() // { // return keywords; //} public String toString() { return "-Music-" + "\n" + "band: " + artist + "\n" + "# songs: " + number + "\n" + "members: " + Arrays.toString(members) + "\n" + super.toString() // + "keywords: " + Arrays.toString(keywords) + "\n" + "\n" ; } public void print() { System.out.println(toString()); } } class DVD extends Item { private String director; private String [] cast; private int scenes; // private String [] keywords; public DVD(String theTitle, String theDirector, int nScenes, String... keywords) { super(theTitle, keywords); this.director = theDirector; this.scenes = nScenes; // this.keywords = keywords; } public void addmoviecast(String... members) { this.cast = members; } public String [] getCast() { return cast; } public String getDirector() { return director; } // public String [] getKeywords() // { // return keywords; // } public String toString() { return "-Movie-" + "\n" + "director: " + director + "\n" + "# scenes: " + scenes + "\n" + "cast: " + Arrays.toString(cast) + "\n" + super.toString() // + "keywords: " + Arrays.toString(keywords) + "\n" + "\n" ; } public void print() { System.out.println(toString()); } } class Book extends Item { private String author; private int pages; public Book(String theTitle, String theAuthor, int nPages, String... keywords) { super(theTitle, keywords); this.author = theAuthor; this.pages = nPages; // this.keywords = keywords; } public String getAuthor() { return author; } //public String [] getKeywords() // { // return keywords; //} public void print() { System.out.println(toString()); } public String toString() { return "-Book-" + "\n" + "Author: " + author + "\n" + "# pages " + pages + "\n" + super.toString() // + "keywords: " + Arrays.toString(keywords) + "\n" + "\n" ; } } I hope i didnt confuse you? I need help with the itemsForKeyword(String keyword) function.. the first keyword being passed in is "science fiction" and i want to search the keywords in the sets and return the matches.. What am i doing so wrong? Thank you

  • STL operator= behavior change with Visual Studio 2010?

    - by augnob
    Hi, I am attempting to compile QtScriptGenerator (gitorious) with Visual Studio 2010 (C++) and have run into a compile error. In searching for a solution, I have seen occasional references to compile breakages introduced since VS2008 due to changes in VS2010's implementation of STL and/or c++0x conformance changes. Any ideas what is happening below, or how I could go about fixing it? If the offending code appeared to be QtScriptGenerator's, I think I would have an easier time fixing it.. but it appears to me that the offending code may be in VS2010's STL implementation and I may be required to create a workaround? PS. I am pretty unfamiliar with templates and STL. I have a background in embedded and console projects where such things have until recently often been avoided to reduce memory consumption and cross-compiler risks. • How to search for alphanumeric word before or after a keyword in perl?

    - by aliocee
    I have sentences as shown in the below examples: $sen1 = "The quick brown fox jump KEYWORD over123 the3 lazy dog, fox is quick"; $sen2 = "The quick brown fox jump123 KEYWORD over the lazy dog, fox is quick"; i want to use the keyword 'KEYWORD' as my search string to extract the alphanumeric words before and after the search string using Perl regular expression. sample output: over123 jump123 NB: The word 'the3' is left out because i'm only searching for alphanumeric words exactly before or after the 'KEYWORD'. Thanks

  • vector does not erase content correctly (infite amount run of copy asignment operator untill crash [BEX])?

    - by Gam Erix
    Well my problem is that after I want to "unload" loaded DLL's the copy assignmnent operator is called an unlimited amount of times until crash. The code from which I remove the vector data looks like this: void UnloadPlugins() { dbg(("[DBG]UnloadPlugins()")); for(std::vector<DLLInfo>::iterator it = plugins.begin(); it != plugins.end(); ++it) { plugins.erase(it); } dbg(("[DBG]UnloadPlugins()::Done")); } however "[DBG]UnloadPlugins()::Done" gets never printed. this is my copy assignmnent operator: // 2. copy assignment operator DLLInfo& operator=(const DLLInfo& that) { dbg(("[DBG]Start-DLLInfo& operator=(const DLLInfo& that)")); Instance = that.Instance;//hinstance dbg(("[DBG]DLLInfo 1")); //Identifier.assign(that.Identifier);//string dbg(("[DBG]DLLInfo 2")); IsAMX = that.IsAMX;//integer dbg(("[DBG]DLLInfo 3")); dwSupportFlags = that.dwSupportFlags;//integer dbg(("[DBG]DLLInfo 4")); Load = that.Load;//integer dbg(("[DBG]DLLInfo 5")); Unload = that.Unload;//integer dbg(("[DBG]DLLInfo 6")); Supports = that.Supports;//integer dbg(("[DBG]DLLInfo 7")); ProcessTick = that.ProcessTick;//integer dbg(("[DBG]DLLInfo 8")); AmxLoad = that.AmxLoad;//integer dbg(("[DBG]DLLInfo 9")); AmxUnload = that.AmxUnload;//integer dbg(("[DBG]DLLInfo 10")); UseDestructor = that.UseDestructor;//bool dbg(("[DBG]DLLInfo 11")); KeyboardHit = that.KeyboardHit;//integer dbg(("[DBG]End-DLLInfo& operator=(const DLLInfo& that)")); return *this; } So the log looks like: [17:50:50] [DBG]UnloadPlugins() [17:50:50] [DBG]~DLLInfo [17:50:50] [DBG]~DLLInfo::if(this->UseDestructor) passed [17:50:50] [DBG]~DLLInfo::if(this->UseDestructor)::if(this->Unload != NULL && this->IsAMX) passed [17:50:50] [DBG]~DLLInfo::end [17:50:50] [DBG]Start-DLLInfo& operator=(const DLLInfo& that) [17:50:50] [DBG]DLLInfo 1 [17:50:50] [DBG]DLLInfo 2 [17:50:50] [DBG]DLLInfo 3 [17:50:50] [DBG]DLLInfo 4 [17:50:50] [DBG]DLLInfo 5 [17:50:50] [DBG]DLLInfo 6 [17:50:50] [DBG]DLLInfo 7 [17:50:50] [DBG]DLLInfo 8 [17:50:50] [DBG]DLLInfo 9 [17:50:50] [DBG]DLLInfo 10 [17:50:50] [DBG]DLLInfo 11 [17:50:50] [DBG]End-DLLInfo& operator=(const DLLInfo& that) [17:50:50] [DBG]Start-DLLInfo& operator=(const DLLInfo& that) ...   • Entity Framework 4 Code First and the new() Operator

    - by Eric J.
    I have a rather deep hierarchy of objects that I'm trying to persist with Entity Framework 4, POCO, PI (Persistence Ignorance) and Code First. Suddenly things started working pretty well when it dawned on me to not use the new() operator. As originally written, the objects frequently use new() to create child objects. Instead I'm using my take on the Repository Pattern to create all child objects as needed. For example, given: class Adam { List<Child> children; void AddChildGivenInput(string input) { children.Add(new Child(...)); } } class Child { List<GrandChild> grandchildren; void AddGrandChildGivenInput(string input) { grandchildren.Add(new GrandChild(...)); } } class GrandChild { } ("GivenInput" implies some processing not shown here) I define an AdamRepository like: class AdamRepository { Adam Add() { return objectContext.Create<Adam>(); } Child AddChildGivenInput(Adam adam, string input) { return adam.children.Add(new Child(...)); } GrandChild AddGrandchildGivenInput(Child child, string input) { return child.grandchildren.Add(new GrandChild(...)); } } Now, this works well enough. However, I'm no longer "ignorant" of my persistence mechanism as I have abandoned the new() operator. Additionally, I'm at risk of an anemic domain model since so much logic ends up in the repository rather than in the domain objects. After much adieu, a question: Or rather several questions... Is this pattern required to work with EF 4 Code First? Is there a way to retain use of new() and still work with EF 4 / POCO / Code First? Is there another pattern that would leave logic in the domain object and still work with EF 4 / POCO / Code First? Will this restriction be lifted in later versions of Code First support? Sometimes trying to go the POCO / Persistence Ignorance route feels like swimming upstream, other times it feels like swimming up Niagra Falls.

  • What Algorithm will Find New Longtail Keywords for *keyword* in PPC

    - by Becci
    I am looking for the algorithm (or combo) that would allow someone to find new longtail PPC search phrases based on say one corekeyword. Eg #1 word word corekeyword eg #2 word corekeyword word Google search tool allows a limited number vertically - mostly of eg#1 (https://adwords.google.com.au/select/KeywordToolExternal) I also know of other PPC apps that allow more volume than google adwords keyword tool, But I want to find other combos that mention the corekeyword & then naturally sort for the highest volume searched. Working example of exact match: corekeyword: copywriter (40,500 searches a month) google will serve up: become a copywriter (480 searches globally/month in english) But if I specifically look up: How to become a copywriter (720 searches a month) This exact longtail keyword phrase has 300 more searches than the 3 word version spat out by google. I want the algorithm to find any other highly search exact longtials like: how to become a copywriter Simply because it was save significant $ finding other longtail keywords after your campaign has been running an made google lots of money. I don't want a concantenation algorithm (I already have one of those), because hypothetically, I don't know what keywords will be that I want to find. Any gurus out there? Becci

  • Keyword 'this'(Me) is not available calling the base constructor

    - by serhio
    In the inherited class I use the base constructor, but can't use class's members calling this base constructor. In this example I have a PicturedLabel that knows it's own color and has a image. A TypedLabel : PictureLabel knows it's type but uses the base color. The (base)image that uses TypedLabel should be colored with the (base)color, however, I can't obtain this color: Error: Keyword 'this' is not available in the current context A workaround? /// base class public class PicturedLabel : Label { PictureBox pb = new PictureBox(); public Color LabelColor; public PicturedLabel() { // initialised here in a specific way LabelColor = Color.Red; } public PicturedLabel(Image img) : base() { pb.Image = img; this.Controls.Add(pb); } } public enum LabelType { A, B } /// derived class public class TypedLabel : PicturedLabel { public TypedLabel(LabelType type) : base(GetImageFromType(type, this.LabelColor)) //Error: Keyword 'this' is not available in the current context { } public static Image GetImageFromType(LabelType type, Color c) { Image result = new Bitmap(10, 10); Rectangle rec = new Rectangle(0, 0, 10, 10); Pen pen = new Pen(c); Graphics g = Graphics.FromImage(result); switch (type) { case LabelType.A: g.DrawRectangle(pen, rec); break; case LabelType.B: g.DrawEllipse(pen, rec); break; } return result; } }

  • Operator issues with cout

    - by BSchlinker
    I have a simple package class which is overloaded so I can output package data simply with cout << packagename. I also have two data types, name which is a string and shipping cost with a double. protected: string name; string address; double weight; double shippingcost; ostream &operator<<( ostream &output, const Package &package ) { output << "Package Information ---------------"; output << "Recipient: " << package.name << endl; output << "Shipping Cost (including any applicable fees): " << package.shippingcost; The problem is occurring with the 4th line (output << "Recipient:...). I'm receiving the error "no operator "<<" matches these operands". However, line 5 is fine. I'm guessing this has to do with the data type being a string for the package name. Any ideas?

  • Templates, and C++ operator for logic: B contained by set A

    - by James Morris
    In C++, I'm looking to implement an operator for selecting items in a list (of type B) based upon B being contained entirely within A. In the book "the logical design of digital computers" by Montgomery Phister jr (published 1958), p54, it says: F11 = A + ~B has two interesting and useful associations, neither of them having much to do with computer design. The first is the logical notation of implication... The second is notation of inclusion... This may be expressed by a familiar looking relation, B < A; or by the statement "B is included in A"; or by the boolean equation F11= A + ~B = 1. My initial implementation was in C. Callbacks were given to the list to use for such operations. An example being a list of ints, and a struct containting two ints, min and max, for selection purposes. There, selection would be based upon B = A-min && B <= A-max. Using C++ and templates, how would you approach this after having implemented a generic list in C using void pointers and callbacks? Is using < as an over-ridden operator for such purposes... <ugh> evil? </ugh> (or by using a class B for the selection criteria, implementing the comparison by overloading ?)

  • Use of 'this keyword' javascript in IE ?

    - by Ron
    Is there a workaround for Internet Explorer to implement the functionality offered by 'this' javascript keyword to get the dom element that triggered the event? My problem scenario is : I have a variable number of text fields in the html form, like input type="text" id="11" input type="text" id="12" .. I need to handle the "onchange" event for each text field, and the handling is dependent on the 'id' of the field that triggered the event. So far I understand that my options are: 1) attach a dedicated event handler for each text field. so if I have n fields, i have n different functions, something like: input type="text" id="11" onchange="function11();" input type="text" id="12" onchange="function12();" but the text fields are added and removed dynamically, so a better way would be to have one generic function instead. 2) use the 'this' keyword like: input type="text" id="11" onchange="functionGeneric(this);" input type="text" id="12" onchange="functionGeneric(this);" But this option does not work with Internet Explorer. Can anyone suggest a work around for getting it work in IE or some other solution that can be applied here? Thanks.

  • postgres - ERROR: operator does not exist

    - by cino21122
    Again, I have a function that works fine locally, but moving it online yields a big fat error... Taking a cue from a response in which someone had pointed out the number of arguments I was passing wasn't accurate, I double-checked in this situation to be certain that I am passing 5 arguments to the function itself... Query failed: ERROR: operator does not exist: point <@> point HINT: No operator matches the given name and argument type(s). You may need to add explicit type casts. The query is this: BEGIN; SELECT zip_proximity_sum('zc', (SELECT g.lat FROM geocoded g LEFT JOIN masterfile m ON g.recordid = m.id WHERE m.zip = '10050' ORDER BY m.id LIMIT 1), (SELECT g.lon FROM geocoded g LEFT JOIN masterfile m ON g.recordid = m.id WHERE m.zip = '10050' ORDER BY m.id LIMIT 1), (SELECT m.zip FROM geocoded g LEFT JOIN masterfile m ON g.recordid = m.id WHERE m.zip = '10050' ORDER BY m.id LIMIT 1) ,10); The PG function is this: CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION zip_proximity_sum(refcursor, numeric, numeric, character, numeric) RETURNS refcursor AS $BODY$ BEGIN OPEN $1 FOR SELECT r.zip, point($2,$3) <@> point(g.lat, g.lon) AS distance FROM geocoded g LEFT JOIN masterfile r ON g.recordid = r.id WHERE (geo_distance( point($2,$3),point(g.lat,g.lon)) < $5) ORDER BY r.zip, distance; RETURN $1; END; $BODY$ LANGUAGE 'plpgsql' VOLATILE COST 100;

  • C# using the "this" keyword in this situation?

    - by Alex
    Hi, I've completed a OOP course assignment where I design and code a Complex Number class. For extra credit, I can do the following: Add two complex numbers. The function will take one complex number object as a parameter and return a complex number object. When adding two complex numbers, the real part of the calling object is added to the real part of the complex number object passed as a parameter, and the imaginary part of the calling object is added to the imaginary part of the complex number object passed as a parameter. Subtract two complex numbers. The function will take one complex number object as a parameter and return a complex number object. When subtracting two complex numbers, the real part of the complex number object passed as a parameter is subtracted from the real part of the calling object, and the imaginary part of the complex number object passed as a parameter is subtracted from the imaginary part of the calling object. I have coded this up, and I used the this keyword to denote the current instance of the class, the code for my add method is below, and my subtract method looks similar: public ComplexNumber Add(ComplexNumber c) { double realPartAdder = c.GetRealPart(); double complexPartAdder = c.GetComplexPart(); double realPartCaller = this.GetRealPart(); double complexPartCaller = this.GetComplexPart(); double finalRealPart = realPartCaller + realPartAdder; double finalComplexPart = complexPartCaller + complexPartAdder; ComplexNumber summedComplex = new ComplexNumber(finalRealPart, finalComplexPart); return summedComplex; } My question is: Did I do this correctly and with good style? (using the this keyword)?

  • Floating Point Arithmetic - Modulo Operator on Double Type

    - by CrimsonX
    So I'm trying to figure out why the modulo operator is returning such a large unusual value. If I have the code: double result = 1.0d % 0.1d; it will give a result of 0.09999999999999995. I would expect a value of 0 Note this problem doesn't exist using the dividing operator - double result = 1.0d / 0.1d; will give a result of 10.0, meaning that the remainder should be 0. Let me be clear: I'm not surprised that an error exists, I'm surprised that the error is so darn large compared to the numbers at play. 0.0999 ~= 0.1 and 0.1 is on the same order of magnitude as 0.1d and only one order of magnitude away from 1.0d. Its not like you can compare it to a double.epsilon, or say "its equal if its < 0.00001 difference". I've read up on this topic on StackOverflow, in the following posts one two three, amongst others. Can anyone suggest explain why this error is so large? Any any suggestions to avoid running into the problems in the future (I know I could use decimal instead but I'm concerned about the performance of that).

  • How to make += operator keep the object reference?

    - by orloffm
    Say, I have a class: class M { public int val; And also a + operator inside it: public static M operator +(M a, M b) { M c = new M(); c.val = a.val + b.val; return c; } } And I've got a List of the objects of the class: List<M> ms = new List(); M obj = new M(); obj.val = 5; ms.Add(obj); Some other object: M addie = new M(); addie.val = 3; I can do this: ms[0] += addie; and it surely works as I expect - the value in the list is changed. But if I want to do M fromList = ms[0]; fromList += addie; it doesn't change the value in ms for obvious reasons. But intuitively I expect ms[0] to also change after that. Really, I pick the object from the list and then I increase it's value with some other object. So, since I held a reference to ms[0] in fromList before addition, I want still to hold it in fromList after performing it. Are there any ways to achieve that?

  • SQL Server 2008 - Keyword search using table Join

    - by Aaron Wagner
    Ok, I created a Stored Procedure that, among other things, is searching 5 columns for a particular keyword. To accomplish this, I have the keywords parameter being split out by a function and returned as a table. Then I do a Left Join on that table, using a LIKE constraint. So, I had this working beautifully, and then all of the sudden it stops working. Now it is returning every row, instead of just the rows it needs. The other caveat, is that if the keyword parameter is empty, it should ignore it. Given what's below, is there A) a glaring mistake, or B) a more efficient way to approach this? Here is what I have currently: ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[usp_getOppsPaged] @startRowIndex int, @maximumRows int, @city varchar(100) = NULL, @state char(2) = NULL, @zip varchar(10) = NULL, @classification varchar(15) = NULL, @startDateMin date = NULL, @startDateMax date = NULL, @endDateMin date = NULL, @endDateMax date = NULL, @keywords varchar(400) = NULL AS BEGIN SET NOCOUNT ON; ;WITH Results_CTE AS ( SELECT opportunities.*, organizations.*, departments.dept_name, departments.dept_address, departments.dept_building_name, departments.dept_suite_num, departments.dept_city, departments.dept_state, departments.dept_zip, departments.dept_international_address, departments.dept_phone, departments.dept_website, departments.dept_gen_list, ROW_NUMBER() OVER (ORDER BY opp_id) AS RowNum FROM opportunities JOIN departments ON opportunities.dept_id = departments.dept_id JOIN organizations ON departments.org_id=organizations.org_id LEFT JOIN Split(',',@keywords) AS kw ON (title LIKE '%'+kw.s+'%' OR [description] LIKE '%'+kw.s+'%' OR tasks LIKE '%'+kw.s+'%' OR requirements LIKE '%'+kw.s+'%' OR comments LIKE '%'+kw.s+'%') WHERE ( (@city IS NOT NULL AND (city LIKE '%'+@city+'%' OR dept_city LIKE '%'+@city+'%' OR org_city LIKE '%'+@city+'%')) OR (@state IS NOT NULL AND ([state] = @state OR dept_state = @state OR org_state = @state)) OR (@zip IS NOT NULL AND (zip = @zip OR dept_zip = @zip OR org_zip = @zip)) OR (@classification IS NOT NULL AND (classification LIKE '%'+@classification+'%')) OR ((@startDateMin IS NOT NULL AND @startDateMax IS NOT NULL) AND ([start_date] BETWEEN @startDateMin AND @startDateMax)) OR ((@endDateMin IS NOT NULL AND @endDateMax IS NOT NULL) AND ([end_date] BETWEEN @endDateMin AND @endDateMax)) OR ( (@city IS NULL AND @state IS NULL AND @zip IS NULL AND @classification IS NULL AND @startDateMin IS NULL AND @startDateMax IS NULL AND @endDateMin IS NULL AND @endDateMin IS NULL) ) ) ) SELECT * FROM Results_CTE WHERE RowNum >= @startRowIndex AND RowNum < @startRowIndex + @maximumRows; END

  • Java ternary operator and boxing Integer/int?

    - by Markus
    I tripped across a really strange NullPointerException the other day caused by an unexpected type-cast in the ternary operator. Given this (useless exemplary) function: Integer getNumber() { return null; } I was expecting the following two code segments to be exactly identical after compilation: Integer number; if (condition) { number = getNumber(); } else { number = 0; } vs. Integer number = (condition) ? getNumber() : 0; . Turns out, if condition is true, the if-statement works fine, while the ternary opration in the second code segment throws a NullPointerException. It seems as though the ternary operation has decided to type-cast both choices to int before auto-boxing the result back into an Integer!?! In fact, if I explicitly cast the 0 to Integer, the exception goes away. In other words: Integer number = (condition) ? getNumber() : 0; is not the same as: Integer number = (condition) ? getNumber() : (Integer) 0; . So, it seems that there is a byte-code difference between the ternary operator and an equivalent if-else-statement (something I didn't expect). Which raises three questions: Why is there a difference? Is this a bug in the ternary implementation or is there a reason for the type cast? Given there is a difference, is the ternary operation more or less performant than an equivalent if-statement (I know, the difference can't be huge, but still)?

  • Use of 'super' keyword when accessing non-overridden superclass methods

    - by jonny
    I'm trying to get the hang of inheritance in Java and have learnt that when overriding methods (and hiding fields) in sub classes, they can still be accessed from the super class by using the 'super' keyword. What I want to know is, should the 'super' keyword be used for non-overridden methods? Is there any difference (for non-overridden methods / non-hidden fields)? I've put together an example below. public class Vehicle { public int tyreCost; public Vehicle(int tyreCost) { this.tyreCost = tyreCost; } public int getTyreCost() { return tyreCost; } } and public class Car extends Vehicle { public int wheelCount; public Vehicle(int tyreCost, int wheelCount) { super(tyreCost); this.wheelCount = wheelCount; } public int getTotalTyreReplacementCost() { return getTyreCost() * wheelCount; } } Specifically, given that getTyreCost() hasn't been overridden, should getTotalTyreReplacementCost() use getTyreCost(), or super.getTyreCost() ? I'm wondering whether super should be used in all instances where fields or methods of the superclass are accessed (to show in the code that you are accessing the superclass), or only in the overridden/hidden ones (so they stand out).

  • Delphi fastMM doesn't work with operator "IS"

    - by Joc02
    I work on Delphi project who interac with many other small libraries. I use FastMM4 and I would like work with complex classes passed on dll parameter. So for exemple I send my form to my dll. Into the dll I test the type of parameter with the operator "IS". But into the Dll the operator "IS" return always "false" Exemple library Dll; uses FastMM4, System.SysUtils, System.Classes, Vcl.Dialogs, Vcl.Forms; {$R *.res} procedure Complex(L : TObject);stdcall; begin if L is TForm then showmessage('Ok') else showmessage('Pas ok') ; if L is TCustomFrame then showmessage('Ok') else showmessage('Pas ok') end; exports Complex; begin end. And the call procedure TffsIsOperator.Button2Click(Sender: TObject); var MaDLL : THandle; Proc : procedure (l : TForm); begin try MaDLL := LoadLibrary(PChar('Dll.dll')); @Proc := GetProcAddress(MaDLL, 'Complex'); Proc(self); finally FreeLibrary(MaDLL); end; end;

  • Heroku: Postgres type operator error after migrating DB from MySQL

    - by sevennineteen
    This is a follow-up to a question I'd asked earlier which phrased this as more of a programming problem than a database problem. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2935985/postgres-error-with-sinatra-haml-datamapper-on-heroku I believe the problem has been isolated to the storage of the ID column in Heroku's Postgres database after running db:push. In short, my app runs properly on my original MySQL database, but throws Postgres errors on Heroku when executing any query on the ID column, which seems to have been stored in Postgres as TEXT even though it is stored as INT in MySQL. My question is why the ID column is being created as INT in Postgres on the data transfer to Heroku, and whether there's any way for me to prevent this. Here's the output from a heroku console session which demonstrates the issue: Ruby console for myapp.heroku.com >> Post.first.title => "Welcome to First!" >> Post.first.title.class => String >> Post.first.id => 1 >> Post.first.id.class => Fixnum >> Post[1] PostgresError: ERROR: operator does not exist: text = integer LINE 1: ...", "title", "created_at" FROM "posts" WHERE ("id" = 1) ORDER... ^ HINT: No operator matches the given name and argument type(s). You might need to add explicit type casts. Query: SELECT "id", "name", "email", "url", "title", "created_at" FROM "posts" WHERE ("id" = 1) ORDER BY "id" LIMIT 1 Thanks!

  • "|" pipe operator not working in command line in C++

    - by user332024
    I am having a windows application interacting with DB2 database. In my application i have code to execute some DB2 commands through command line interface. I have used windowsAPI "ShellExecuteEx()" to execute those DB2 commands through command line. Following is the code written to execute DB2 command through command line. string command = "/c /w /i DB2 UNCATALOG NODE DB_DATABASE "" test.log | echo %date% %time% test.log SHELLEXECUTEINFO shellInfo; ZeroMemory(&shellInfo, sizeof(shellInfo)); shellInfo.cbSize = sizeof(shellInfo); shellInfo.fMask = SEE_MASK_FLAG_NO_UI | SEE_MASK_NOCLOSEPROCESS; //shellInfo.lpFile = "db2cmd"; shellInfo.lpFile = "db2cmd"; shellInfo.lpParameters = command.c_str(); The code is executed successfully , however if test.log is observered i only get result of DB2 command and not date and time. If you see the above command there is "|" pipe operator and echo command to log date and time in test.log Please note that if I execute above DB2 command through separately command line i.e. not through code. I am able to view date and time log along with DB2 command result in test.log. Following is the full command which i executed through command line. DB2CMD /c /i /w DB2 UNCATALOG NODE DB_DATABASE "" test.log | echo %date% %time% test.log According to me since DB2 command is executed successfully through code, there is problem with only usage of "|" pipe operator or echo command.
