• C# parsing txt files IF name format is desired format

  OK, I have txt files that I am parsing and saving into a sql db. The names are formatted like R306025COMP_272A4075_20090929_080159.txt However, there are a select few (out of thousands of files) with names that are formatted differently (particularly files that were generated as tests), example R306025COMP_SU2_TestBottom_20090915_101441.txt The reason this causes a problem for me is that I am using Split('_')[1,2,etc] to extract the R number, the 272A4075 portion, and the 20090929 (date) portion. When the application comes across the oddly named files, it fails because it is trying to parse 'TestBottom' as a date and inserts 'SU2' instead of the 272 number. Basically I want the app to recognize that if the file's name is not formatted like my first example, skip it. Any advice?

• Using malloc/free in Objective-C object

  I have a class AudioManager with a member of type AudioBufferList *. (This is a struct declared in the CoreAudio framework). Since AudioBufferList is not a NSObject, I cannot retain it, so I have to alloc/free it (correct me if I'm wrong). My question is, where is the 'right' place to free it? Currently I am doing it in the dealloc method of AudioManager. If I understand correctly, this method is invoked automatically once the release message is sent to the instance of AudioManager --- is that true? Is there any other recommended practice regarding using alloc/free on non-objects members of Objective-C objects? Edit: From Apples documentation: Subclasses must implement their own versions of dealloc to allow the release of any additional memory consumed by the object—such as dynamically allocated storage for data or object instance variables owned by the deallocated object. After performing the class-specific deallocation, the subclass method should incorporate superclass versions of dealloc through a message to super: Which makes things a little bit clearer - but more insights are appreciated.

  I have an object for a subclass who is of it's superclass type. There is a overridden function in subclass which gets executed when called using the object. How to call the parent's function using the same object? • Django make model field name a link

  what Im looking to do is to have a link on the name of a field of a model. So when im filling the form using the admin interface i can access some information. I know this doesn't work but shows what i want to do class A(models.Model): item_type = models.CharField(max_length=100, choices=ITEMTYPE_CHOICES, verbose_name="<a href='http://www.quackit.com/html/codes'>Item Type</a>") Other option would be to put a description next to the field. Im not even sure where to start from.

• Synonym for "Many-to-Many" relationship (relational databases)

  What's a synonym for a "many-to-many" relationship? I've finished writing an object-relational mapper but I'm still stumped as to what to name the function that adds that relation. addParent() and addChild() seemed quite logical for the many-to-one/one-to-many and addSuperclass() for one-to-one inheritance, but addManyToMany() would sound quite unintuitive to an object-oriented programmer. addSibling() or addCousin() doesn't really make sense either. Any suggestions? And before you dismiss this as a non-programming question, please remember that consistent naming schemes and encapsulation are pretty integral to programming :)

  My extension works on an application, which requires user login. Once the user has logged in, I need to read the cookies and use them in my XMLHttpRequests. So initially I need to check if the cookie is set, if not, I direct the user to the login page. Once logged in, I need to read the cookies and send it as part of my further requests.   Hey, I'm new to silverlight and wpf programming I've just created a simple storyboard in silverlight which increases height and width of a button. As I wanted, I wrote this code so that whenever I move cursor on the button storyboard begins. here is the code used for silverlight. private void button_MouseEnter(object sender, System.Windows.Input.MouseEventArgs e) { if(Storyboard1.GetCurrentState()!=ClockState.Active) Storyboard1.Begin(); } Everything is fine in above scenario as far as I use silverlight.   Hi, I am currently planning to develop a music streaming application. And i am wondering what would be better as a primary key in my tables on the server. An ID int or a Unique String. Methods 1: Songs Table: SongID(int), Title(string), Artist*(string), Length(int), Album*(string) Genre Table Genre(string), Name(string) SongGenre: SongID*(int), Genre*(string) Method 2 Songs Table: SongID(int), Title(string), ArtistID*(int), Length(int), AlbumID*(int) Genre Table GenreID(int), Name(string) SongGenre: SongID*(int), GenreID*(int) Key: Bold = Primary Key, Field* = Foreign Key I'm currently designing using method 2 as I believe it will speed up lookup performance and use less space as an int takes a lot less space then a string. • Importing a function/class from a Python module of the same name

  I have a Python package mymodule with a sub-package utils (i.e. a subdirectory which contains modules each with a function). The functions have the same name as the file/module in which they live. I would like to be able to access the functions as follows, from mymodule.utils import a_function Strangely however, sometimes I can import functions using the above notation, however other times I cannot. I have not been able to work out why though (recently, for example, I renamed a function and the file it was in and reflected this rename in the utils.__init__.py file but it no longer imported as a functions (rather as a module) in one of my scripts. The utils.__init__.py reads something like, __all__ = ['a_function', 'b_function' ...] from a_function import a_function from b_function import b_function ... mymodule.__init__.py has no reference to utils Ideas?

• Dissapearing object function??

  Is there a reason for object functions to be unset or deleted or simply not applied for any reason at all that isn't intentional? I am maintaining someone elses code and gone through it many times. I use Google Chromes awesome debuger and also TextMate. These help me find the origin of error relatively fast. The problem I have now is that i have an object: types. This object conatains...types. And these types have functions and other variables attached to them. For some reason in the middle of the code, this type has been passed by reference millions of times probably. When it comes to a certain part of the code parts of it, seem to have dissapeared. Puff! And it's gone..! Anyone have a clue (other than it being removed somewhere else earlier in the code, I'm already looking for that)

• Get user-inputed file name from JFileChooser Save dialog box

  This answer to this question may seem obvious, but I'm actually struggling with it quite a bit. I've searched through JFileChooser methods in the API, and I've looked at some of the questions already asked and answered here on stackoverflow. My question is this. In my program, I am to allow the user to type in a file name which I will then use to create a brand new file that I will write on. How do you get the text the user has entered in the textfield next to the label "Save As:" on the Save dialog box provided by JFileChooser? Is there a JFileChooser method that would allow me to get that user-inputed text? Or would I have to go through another class, or do something else to get that text? Thank you so much, to anyone who answers. It's very late for me now, and this program is due in a few hours (meaning I'll be having another sleepless night). Desperate may be too strong a word, but I'm something close enough.

• svnkit: Problem getting entry name

  I'm trying to create a SVN Eclipese EFS plugin and have problems when getting the names of entries. When I make a call to: SVNRepository `//Fetches the contents of a directory into the provided collection object and returns the directory entry itself. SVNDirEntry getDir(String path, long revision, boolean includeCommitMessages, Collection entries)` It correctly returns the entry for the provided path, however, it doesn't set the "name" value on the "returned" entry. Note, the items returned in the collection are all OK. Does anyone know why this is? And/or if there is a workaround? • is there a preformance hit when using enum.values() vs. String arrays?

• NFOP performance problem

  We're using NFOP in a project (C#, ASP.NET 2.0) to ultimately return PDF files to the user. The process currently goes like this: Stored Procedure - XML XML - XSLT - XSL-FO XSL-FO - NFOP - PDF This works fine, the PDF is generated BEAUTIFULLY. The problem is that it takes 300+ seconds to do it. The ANTS profiler indicates that the problem is sitting in the driver.run() method inside of NFOP. It's not like this is a gargantuan amount of data, the size of the xsl-fo source going into the nfop driver object is ~980k. What's the most likely source and resolution of this problem? ANY hints or tips or answers are most appreciated, we were supposed to head to VA scan at 11 am. :|

• One project in Delphi 2007 doesn't show procedure name in the IDE Obj Inspector's Events

  I have a Delphi project in 2007 that doesn't show the procedure names in the Object Inspector's Events such as Form OnClose, OnCreate or OnShow in the IDE. The code is there and if you click on OnCreate (for example) you are taken to the code and the IDE fills in the name of procedure. However on reload, the procedures are missing from the IDE again. This same project causes various error messages when Delphi closes also, but I am not sure if this is related (no other project developed under this Delphi does but this one is the largest app and uses several 3rd party add-in libraries). I have moved this app to various Delphi 2007 installations and it reacts the same, so it isn't a corrupt Delphi situation. Is there any way to rebuild or fix a corrupt project like this? Any help would be appreciated.

  Afternoon all, I really need your help as this is a Nightmare! I was earlier having a problem with referencing a 3rd Party Dll (Here) but have overcome this problem and am now having a problem referencing my own classes! Everything seems fine at build with no errors at all but when I go to run the application it comes up with the following Compilation Error: Compiler Error Message: CS0234: The type or namespace name 'Secure' does not exist in the namespace 'source_extranet' (are you missing an assembly reference?) The line that the Error points to this line in the class: source_extranet.Secure.BackendCustomData newdata = new source_extranet.Secure.BackendCustomData(); This line of code points to a class in the same folder as the calling code class. I have scoured Google looking for an answer and haven't found anything that points me to an answer to my problem. Any help would be AMAZING!

  In my JavaScript, I'm using an object as an associative array. It always has the property "main", and may have others. So, when I create it I might do this: var myobject = new Object (); myobject["main"] = somevalue; Other properties may be added later. Now, at some moment I need to know whether myobject has just the one property, or several, and take different actions depending (I'm only referring to properties I've created). So far all I've found to do is something like: flag = false; for (i in myobject) { if (i=="main") continue; flag = true; break; } and then branch on flag. Or: for (i in myobject) { if (i=="main") continue; do_some_actions (); break; } These approaches work but feel to me like I've overlooked something. Is there a better approach?

  I've added a CKEditor instance programmatically to my page in the code-behind of my ASP.NET page: VB.NET: itemEditor = New CkEditor cell.Controls.Add(itemEditor) ... which works fine. I can get the HTML on the postback and do stuff with it. However, I also want to do some client-side stuff with it, specifically take a selected item out of another control, and insert it into the text by handling the onchange event. DECLARE item tbusiness_inter_item_bag; BEGIN item.system_event_cd := 'ABC'; END; This also raises the same error: item.item_id := 3; But if i change my object type into: CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE tbusiness_inter_item_bag AS OBJECT ( item_id NUMBER(1), system_event_cd VARCHAR2 (20), CONSTRUCTOR FUNCTION tbusiness_inter_item_bag RETURN SELF AS RESULT ); then the last statement raises no more error (where my "item" is still uninitialized): item.item_id := 3; Shouldn't i get the same ORA-06530 error? ps: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi

  Am I correct in thinking that if I have a WCF OperationContract takes in an object and needs to set a property on that object so the client gets the update, I need to declare it to return the object. e.g. given a datacontract: [DataContract] public class CompositeType { [DataMember] public int Key { get; set; } [DataMember] public string Something { get; set; } } this will not work with WCF: public void GetDataUsingDataContract(CompositeType composite) { composite.Key = 42; } this will work: public CompositeType GetDataUsingDataContract(CompositeType composite) { composite.Key = 42; return new CompositeType { Key = composite.Key, Something = composite.Something }; }

  hi I am working on silverlight application which uses EF. I am able to retrieve the data. But I want to execute a stored procedure which returns no value.
