System.XML or Regex.Replace?

I'm generating a large amount of XML documents from a set of values in an Excel file. The only thing that changes for each XML document is the values. I figured the best way to generate these documents was to make a "XML skeleton" (since the XML format never changes) and then plug in symbols like "&%blahNameblahTest", so then I could just preform a Regex.Replace on each value. I will be handing over this project to another developer and I'm wondering if I should convert the project to generate the XML file manually everytime through the System.XML namespace. The only advantages I see to this is ensuring that the XML document is valid. The current method would be more readable than that method, and way faster since I'm generating around 1500 documents.

strategies for learning complex software packages

I am a fairly novice Java programmer and I am currently working on a project to extend a piece of software that has been developed over a few years. So it has pretty big code base and the previous developers knew it well, so extending it is not going to be easy without a thorough understanding of the structure and function. 1) I had begun by trying to tackle small parts of the system and document them with mindmap. (particularly I am trying to document the interactions with external systems) 2) I have the book "code complete", which I am working through. 3) I have pointed some tools like "tattletale" at the code to get some diagrams of dependency relationships. What other strategies should I employ, should I focus on one particular aspect?

This regx does not work only in Chrome

Hi i just put up a validation function in jScript to validate filename in fileupload control[input type file]. The function seems to work fine in FF and sometimes in ie but never in Chrome. Basically the function tests if File name is atleast 1 char upto 25 characters long.Contains only valid characters,numbers [no spaces] and are of file types in the list. Javascript (JQuery) keyboard hijack problem

I'm making a typing tutor program using javascript. Everything is going well except that if activates browser hotkeys which disrupts the functionality of the program. When I press the single quote in Firefox it triggers "Quick find (links only)" short cut and in all browsers when I press space the page scrolls down a page. Everything is working fine outside of this. Validate an Xml file against a DTD with a proxy. C# 2.0

I have looked at many examples for validating an XML file against a DTD, but have not found one that allows me to use a proxy. I have a cXml file as follows (abbreviated for display) which I wish to validate: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <!DOCTYPE cXML SYSTEM "http://xml.cxml.org/schemas/cXML/1.2.018/InvoiceDetail.dtd"> <cXML payloadID="123456" timestamp="2009-12-10T10:05:30-06:00">  </cXML> I am trying to create a simple C# program to validate the xml against the DTD. jQuery add class is not working

Hey ya'll I have this code here and it suppose to add the class name "cboxElement" $(".wpcart_gallery a:first").addClass("cboxElement"); but it does not work. Read a remote zipped xml with just XSL

Hello there I want to know if it's possible for an XSLT file to read data from an XML located within folders of a remote zip(from the server at work), without any external processors (saxon and so forth) and without downloading it. Failing that, I'll resort to just reading the information from the zip... which brings me to my other (newb)issue. I currently have an XSLT that accesses and gets the data from the downloaded and extracted XML file, but I can't do this without extracting it. I've read that with Altova and xslt 2.0 it is possible to read from within a zip file using the document() function, though, as of yet I have not been able achieve this. this is how I'm trying to do it: document('name.zip|zip/folder/folder2/iwantthis.xml') It just doesn't seem to find the file. I'd be almost eternally grateful if you show me the error of my ways and guide me into XSLThood. Thank you kindly

How to read custom file properties in c#

I'm looking for a way to read document properties in C#. I've heard about dsofile.dll, but it seems like an old COM wrapper, and was wondering if there is something more modern for the .NET framework/C#. What I'm actually reading is not an office document file, but a Solidworks .SLDDRW file, that has Custom properties. You can view and change these in Windows Explorer by right-clicking on the file, and going to the Properties window, Custom tab. Anyone know how to read these custom properties in C# / .NET 3.5? Thanks!

Adding an equation or formula to a figure caption in LaTeX

I have a figure in LaTeX with a caption to which I need to add a formula (equation* or displaymath environments). I have several C# projects along with some internal library components that I'm trying to document together. Sandcastle seems to be the place to go to generate documentation from C#. I would like to know which of the two, DocProject or Sandcastle Help File Builder GUI is better and supports the features I need. I would like to compile only each projects own part of the document and then have it all integrated together in the end. (i.e. the library components in one documentation project and each project in it's own documentation project, then all of the above in a single root using the Help 2 viewer)

Latex multicolumn problems

There are two problems here a) the file is somehow corrupt ( it was a document imported into drive, so that failed, but that isn't something I care about for the purposes of this question ) b) The file shows up as existing in some API calls, but calls to read comments with the Drive SDK comments API fail. problem with select boxes - second options based on first selection

Using Omniture ActionSource with Flash IDE

I have a flash app built in ActionScript 3 utilizing a document class. I have followed the documentation for implementing Omniture ActionSource tracking by adding the ActionSource component to my fla's library, and then importing it into the document class and running the configuration code. However, the app fails to compile because it cannot resolve the path to the component (com.omniture.ActionSource). My class path contains a com directory (package) where most of the classes I use in my projects reside. Has anyone had success implementing ActionSource in this manner? Thanks

Why compressed xps are corrupt?

compressed xps documents do not pass isxps.exe test and do not display in xpsviewer. i'm using Windows 7 and vs2010. Dim ms = New MemoryStream() Dim P As Package = Package.Open(ms, FileMode.Create, FileAccess.ReadWrite) Dim DocumentUri As Uri = New Uri("pack://document.xps") PackageStore.AddPackage(DocumentUri, P) Dim document As XpsDocument = New XpsDocument(P, CompressionOption.Maximum, DocumentUri.AbsoluteUri) If i change CompressionOption.Maximum to CompressionOption.None all works perfectly. IsXps.exe says "Unable to open Zip archive Error code: 0x8000FFFF", same with default W7 XpsViewer. what i'm doing wrong? (i've also installed latest 7zip program, but i do not think that it may corrupt the default windows zip capability......or not?)
