  • Why No android.content.SyncAdapter meta-data registering sync-adapter?

    - by mobibob
I am following the SampleSyncAdapter and upon startup, it appears that my SyncAdapter is not configured correctly. It reports an error trying to load its meta-data. How can I isolate the problem? You can see the other accounts in the system that register correctly. • Python - calculate multinomial probability density functions on large dataset?

    - by Seafoid
Hi, I originally intended to use MATLAB to tackle this problem but the inbuilt functions has limitations that do not suit my goal. The same limitation occurs in NumPy. I have two tab-delimited files. The first is a file showing amino acid residue, frequency and count for an in-house database of protein structures, i.e. A 0.25 1 S 0.25 1 T 0.25 1 P 0.25 1 The second file consists of quadruplets of amino acids and the number of times they occur, i.e. ASTP 1 Note, there are 8,000 such quadruplets. Based on the background frequency of occurence of each amino acid and the count of quadruplets, I aim to calculate the multinomial probability density function for each quadruplet and subsequently use it as the expected value in a maximum likelihood calculation. The multinomial distribution is as follows: f(x|n, p) = n!/(x1!*x2!*...*xk!)*((p1^x1)*(p2^x2)*...*(pk^xk)) where x is the number of each of k outcomes in n trials with fixed probabilities p. n is 4 four in all cases in my calculation. I have created three functions to calculate this distribution. # functions for multinomial distribution def expected_quadruplets(x, y): expected = x*y return expected # calculates the probabilities of occurence raised to the number of occurrences def prod_prob(p1, a, p2, b, p3, c, p4, d): prob_prod = (pow(p1, a))*(pow(p2, b))*(pow(p3, c))*(pow(p4, d)) return prob_prod # factorial() and multinomial_coefficient() work in tandem to calculate C, the multinomial coefficient def factorial(n): if n <= 1: return 1 return n*factorial(n-1) def multinomial_coefficient(a, b, c, d): n = 24.0 multi_coeff = (n/(factorial(a) * factorial(b) * factorial(c) * factorial(d))) return multi_coeff The problem is how best to structure the data in order to tackle the calculation most efficiently, in a manner that I can read (you guys write some cryptic code :-)) and that will not create an overflow or runtime error. To data my data is represented as nested lists. amino_acids = [['A', '0.25', '1'], ['S', '0.25', '1'], ['T', '0.25', '1'], ['P', '0.25', '1']] quadruplets = [['ASTP', '1']] I initially intended calling these functions within a nested for loop but this resulted in runtime errors or overfloe errors. I know that I can reset the recursion limit but I would rather do this more elegantly. I had the following: for i in quadruplets: quad = i[0].split(' ') for j in amino_acids: for k in quadruplets: for v in k: if j[0] == v: multinomial_coefficient(int(j[2]), int(j[2]), int(j[2]), int(j[2])) I haven'te really gotten to how to incorporate the other functions yet. I think that my current nested list arrangement is sub optimal. I wish to compare the each letter within the string 'ASTP' with the first component of each sub list in amino_acids. Where a match exists, I wish to pass the appropriate numeric values to the functions using indices. Is their a better way? Can I append the appropriate numbers for each amino acid and quadruplet to a temporary data structure within a loop, pass this to the functions and clear it for the next iteration? Thanks, S :-)

  • Speeding up a search .net 4.0

    - by user231465
Wondering if I can speed up the search. I need to build a functionality that has to be used by many UI screens The one I have got works but I need to make sure I am implementing a fast algoritim if you like It's like an incremental search. User types a word to search for eg const string searchFor = "Guinea"; const char nextLetter = ' ' It looks in the list and returns 2 records "Guinea and Guinea Bissau " User types a word to search for eg const string searchFor = "Gu"; const char nextLetter = 'i' returns 3 results. This is the function but I would like to speed it up. Is there a pattern for this kind of search? class Program { static void Main() { //Find all countries that begin with string + a possible letter added to it //const string searchFor = "Guinea"; //const char nextLetter = ' '; //returns 2 results const string searchFor = "Gu"; const char nextLetter = 'i'; List<string> result = FindPossibleMatches(searchFor, nextLetter); result.ForEach(x=>Console.WriteLine(x)); //returns 3 results Console.Read(); } /// <summary> /// Find all possible matches /// </summary> /// <param name="searchFor">string to search for</param> /// <param name="nextLetter">pretend user as just typed a letter</param> /// <returns></returns> public static List<string> FindPossibleMatches (string searchFor, char nextLetter) { var hashedCountryList = new HashSet<string>(CountriesList()); var result=new List<string>(); IEnumerable<string> tempCountryList = hashedCountryList.Where(x => x.StartsWith(searchFor)); foreach (string item in tempCountryList) { string tempSearchItem; if (nextLetter == ' ') { tempSearchItem = searchFor; } else { tempSearchItem = searchFor + nextLetter; } if(item.StartsWith(tempSearchItem)) { result.Add(item); } } return result; } /// <summary> /// Returns list of countries. /// </summary> public static string[] CountriesList() { return new[] { "Afghanistan", "Albania", "Algeria", "American Samoa", "Andorra", "Angola", "Anguilla", "Antarctica", "Antigua And Barbuda", "Argentina", "Armenia", "Aruba", "Australia", "Austria", "Azerbaijan", "Bahamas", "Bahrain", "Bangladesh", "Barbados", "Belarus", "Belgium", "Belize", "Benin", "Bermuda", "Bhutan", "Bolivia", "Bosnia Hercegovina", "Botswana", "Bouvet Island", "Brazil", "Brunei Darussalam", "Bulgaria", "Burkina Faso", "Burundi", "Byelorussian SSR", "Cambodia", "Cameroon", "Canada", "Cape Verde", "Cayman Islands", "Central African Republic", "Chad", "Chile", "China", "Christmas Island", "Cocos (Keeling) Islands", "Colombia", "Comoros", "Congo", "Cook Islands", "Costa Rica", "Cote D'Ivoire", "Croatia", "Cuba", "Cyprus", "Czech Republic", "Czechoslovakia", "Denmark", "Djibouti", "Dominica", "Dominican Republic", "East Timor", "Ecuador", "Egypt", "El Salvador", "England", "Equatorial Guinea", "Eritrea", "Estonia", "Ethiopia", "Falkland Islands", "Faroe Islands", "Fiji", "Finland", "France", "Gabon", "Gambia", "Georgia", "Germany", "Ghana", "Gibraltar", "Great Britain", "Greece", "Greenland", "Grenada", "Guadeloupe", "Guam", "Guatemela", "Guernsey", "Guiana", "Guinea", "Guinea Bissau", "Guyana", "Haiti", "Heard Islands", "Honduras", "Hong Kong", "Hungary", "Iceland", "India", "Indonesia", "Iran", "Iraq", "Ireland", "Isle Of Man", "Israel", "Italy", "Jamaica", "Japan", "Jersey", "Jordan", "Kazakhstan", "Kenya", "Kiribati", "Korea, South", "Korea, North", "Kuwait", "Kyrgyzstan", "Lao People's Dem. • Python performance: iteration and operations on nested lists

    - by J.J.
Problem Hey folks. I'm looking for some advice on python performance. Some background on my problem: Given: A mesh of nodes of size (x,y) each with a value (0...255) starting at 0 A list of N input coordinates each at a specified location within the range (0...x, 0...y) Increment the value of the node at the input coordinate and the node's neighbors within range Z up to a maximum of 255. Neighbors beyond the mesh edge are ignored. (No wrapping) BASE CASE: A mesh of size 1024x1024 nodes, with 400 input coordinates and a range Z of 75 nodes. Processing should be O(x*y*Z*N). I expect x, y and Z to remain roughly around the values in the base case, but the number of input coordinates N could increase up to 100,000. My goal is to minimize processing time. Current results I have 2 current implementations: f1, f2 Running speed on my 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with Python 2.6.1: f1: 2.9s f2: 1.8s f1 is the initial naive implementation: three nested for loops. f2 is replaces the inner for loop with a list comprehension. Code is included below for your perusal. Question How can I further reduce the processing time? I'd prefer sub-1.0s for the test parameters. Please, keep the recommendations to native Python. I know I can move to a third-party package such as numpy, but I'm trying to avoid any third party packages. Also, I've generated random input coordinates, and simplified the definition of the node value updates to keep our discussion simple. The specifics have to change slightly and are outside the scope of my question. thanks much! f1 is the initial naive implementation: three nested for loops. 2.9s def f1(x,y,n,z): rows = [] for i in range(x): rows.append([0 for i in xrange(y)]) for i in range(n): inputX, inputY = (int(x*random.random()), int(y*random.random())) topleft = (inputX - z, inputY - z) for i in xrange(max(0, topleft[0]), min(topleft[0]+(z*2), x)): for j in xrange(max(0, topleft[1]), min(topleft[1]+(z*2), y)): if rows[i][j] <= 255: rows[i][j] += 1 f2 is replaces the inner for loop with a list comprehension. 1.8s def f2(x,y,n,z): rows = [] for i in range(x): rows.append([0 for i in xrange(y)]) for i in range(n): inputX, inputY = (int(x*random.random()), int(y*random.random())) topleft = (inputX - z, inputY - z) for i in xrange(max(0, topleft[0]), min(topleft[0]+(z*2), x)): l = max(0, topleft[1]) r = min(topleft[1]+(z*2), y) rows[i][l:r] = [j+1 for j in rows[i][l:r] if j < 255]

  • How can I set audit controls on files owned by TrustedInstaller using Powershell?

    - by Drise
I am trying to set audit controls on a number of files (listed in ACLsWin.txt) located in \%Windows%\System32 (for example, aaclient.dll) using the following Powershell script: $FileList = Get-Content ".\ACLsWin.txt" $ACL = New-Object System.Security.AccessControl.FileSecurity $AccessRule = New-Object System.Security.AccessControl.FileSystemAuditRule("Everyone", "Delete", "Failure") $ACL.AddAuditRule($AccessRule) foreach($File in $FileList) { Write-Host "Changing audit on $File" $ACL | Set-Acl $File } Whenever I run the script, I get the error PermissionDenied [Set-Acl] UnauthorizedAccessException. This seems to come from the fact that the owner of these files is TrustedInstaller. I am running these scripts as Administrator (even though I'm on the the built-in Administrator account) and it's still failing. I can set these audit controls by hand using the Security tab, but there are at least 200 files for which doing by hand may lead to human errors. How can I get around TrustedInstaller and set these audit controls using Powershell?

  • Java - Lock Aspect Ratio of JFrame

    - by nasufara
Is it possible to lock the aspect ratio of a JFrame in Java Swing? For example, if my window is 200px by 200px, and the user wants to resize it, I want the ratio between the width and the height at 1:1, so that if the new width is 400px, the new height is forced to 400px. I'm aware of ComponentListener and componentResized, but I'm having difficulty not getting it to go into an infinite loop of resizing, because I'm resizing the window in a resize listener. Thanks!

  • Storyboard apply to all labels

    - by ThitoO
Hi everyone ! I whant to apply a little storyboard to a collection of labels in my window. My storyboard is like that : <Storyboard x:Key="Storyboard1" AutoReverse="True" RepeatBehavior="Forever"> <ColorAnimationUsingKeyFrames BeginTime="00:00:00" Storyboard.TargetName="label" Storyboard.TargetProperty="(Label.Foreground).(SolidColorBrush.Color)"> <SplineColorKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00.1000000" Value="#FFFFFF"/> </ColorAnimationUsingKeyFrames> </Storyboard> I have a window composed of that : <Grid Background="#FF000000"> <Viewbox HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center" Stretch="Uniform"> <UniformGrid x:Name="grid" Background="#FF000000" /> </Viewbox> </Grid> When I want to start my storyboard I do that : Storyboard.SetTarget( _stb, myLabel ); _stb.Begin(); where _std is my storyboard loaded by the window's resources. The animation works fine, but on all labels (not only the one I want). I tried to switch SetTarget by SetTargetName but labels are created into my window by the constructor and names can not be founded when I try "SetTargetName". Do you have any ideas ? Thanks :) ------------ Edit : We asked me to be more descriptive -------------------------------------------------------------------- Label are not created directly in the xaml, they are created by the constructor of the window : public SpellerWindow(IKeyboard keyboard, int colomnNumber, SolidColorBrush background, SolidColorBrush foreground ) { InitializeComponent(); grid.Columns = colomnNumber; int i = 0; foreach( IKey key in keyboard.Zones.Default.Keys ) { Label lb = new Label(); lb.Foreground = foreground; lb.Name = "label"+(i++).ToString(); lb.Content = key.ActualKeys[keyboard.CurrentMode].UpLabel; lb.HorizontalAlignment = HorizontalAlignment.Center; lb.VerticalAlignment = VerticalAlignment.Center; Viewbox box = new Viewbox(); box.Stretch = Stretch.Fill; box.Child = lb; box.Tag = key; grid.Children.Add( box ); } } Animations are started by an event handler : void Highlighter_StartAnimation( object sender, HiEventArgs e ) { Storyboard stb; if( !_anims.TryGetValue( e.Step.Animation.Name, out stb ) ) { stb = (Storyboard)_window.FindResource( e.Step.Animation.Name ); _anims.Add( e.Step.Animation.Name, stb ); } DoAnimations( _zones[e.Step.Zone], stb ); } Finally, animations are started by DoAnimations : void DoAnimations( List<Label> labels, Storyboard stb ) { foreach( Label lb in labels ) { Storyboard.SetTarget( stb, lb ); stb.Begin(); } } I want to highlight a collection of labels, but all labels are flashing. I don't know why, but I try to create a label into the Xaml directly, and set a Storyboard.TargetName (bound to the name of the label) in the Xaml of the storyboard. And it's working ... Now you know everything. Thanks for you help :)

  • How to optimize my PageRank calculation?

    - by asmaier
    In the book Programming Collective Intelligence I found the following function to compute the PageRank: def calculatepagerank(self,iterations=20): # clear out the current PageRank tables self.con.execute("drop table if exists pagerank") self.con.execute("create table pagerank(urlid primary key,score)") self.con.execute("create index prankidx on pagerank(urlid)") # initialize every url with a PageRank of 1.0 self.con.execute("insert into pagerank select rowid,1.0 from urllist") self.dbcommit() for i in range(iterations): print "Iteration %d" % i for (urlid,) in self.con.execute("select rowid from urllist"): pr=0.15 # Loop through all the pages that link to this one for (linker,) in self.con.execute("select distinct fromid from link where toid=%d" % urlid): # Get the PageRank of the linker linkingpr=self.con.execute("select score from pagerank where urlid=%d" % linker).fetchone()[0] # Get the total number of links from the linker linkingcount=self.con.execute("select count(*) from link where fromid=%d" % linker).fetchone()[0] pr+=0.85*(linkingpr/linkingcount) self.con.execute("update pagerank set score=%f where urlid=%d" % (pr,urlid)) self.dbcommit() However, this function is very slow, because of all the SQL queries in every iteration >>> import cProfile >>> cProfile.run("crawler.calculatepagerank()") 2262510 function calls in 136.006 CPU seconds Ordered by: standard name ncalls tottime percall cumtime percall filename:lineno(function) 1 0.000 0.000 136.006 136.006 <string>:1(<module>) 1 20.826 20.826 136.006 136.006 searchengine.py:179(calculatepagerank) 21 0.000 0.000 0.528 0.025 searchengine.py:27(dbcommit) 21 0.528 0.025 0.528 0.025 {method 'commit' of 'sqlite3.Connecti 1 0.000 0.000 0.000 0.000 {method 'disable' of '_lsprof.Profiler 1339864 112.602 0.000 112.602 0.000 {method 'execute' of 'sqlite3.Connec 922600 2.050 0.000 2.050 0.000 {method 'fetchone' of 'sqlite3.Cursor' 1 0.000 0.000 0.000 0.000 {range} So I optimized the function and came up with this: def calculatepagerank2(self,iterations=20): # clear out the current PageRank tables self.con.execute("drop table if exists pagerank") self.con.execute("create table pagerank(urlid primary key,score)") self.con.execute("create index prankidx on pagerank(urlid)") # initialize every url with a PageRank of 1.0 self.con.execute("insert into pagerank select rowid,1.0 from urllist") self.dbcommit() inlinks={} numoutlinks={} pagerank={} for (urlid,) in self.con.execute("select rowid from urllist"): inlinks[urlid]=[] numoutlinks[urlid]=0 # Initialize pagerank vector with 1.0 pagerank[urlid]=1.0 # Loop through all the pages that link to this one for (inlink,) in self.con.execute("select distinct fromid from link where toid=%d" % urlid): inlinks[urlid].append(inlink) # get number of outgoing links from a page numoutlinks[urlid]=self.con.execute("select count(*) from link where fromid=%d" % urlid).fetchone()[0] for i in range(iterations): print "Iteration %d" % i for urlid in pagerank: pr=0.15 for link in inlinks[urlid]: linkpr=pagerank[link] linkcount=numoutlinks[link] pr+=0.85*(linkpr/linkcount) pagerank[urlid]=pr for urlid in pagerank: self.con.execute("update pagerank set score=%f where urlid=%d" % (pagerank[urlid],urlid)) self.dbcommit() This function is 20 times faster (but uses a lot more memory for all the temporary dictionaries) because it avoids the unnecessary SQL queries in every iteration: >>> cProfile.run("crawler.calculatepagerank2()") 64802 function calls in 6.950 CPU seconds Ordered by: standard name ncalls tottime percall cumtime percall filename:lineno(function) 1 0.004 0.004 6.950 6.950 <string>:1(<module>) 1 1.004 1.004 6.946 6.946 searchengine.py:207(calculatepagerank2 2 0.000 0.000 0.104 0.052 searchengine.py:27(dbcommit) 23065 0.012 0.000 0.012 0.000 {meth 'append' of 'list' objects} 2 0.104 0.052 0.104 0.052 {meth 'commit' of 'sqlite3.Connection 1 0.000 0.000 0.000 0.000 {meth 'disable' of '_lsprof.Profiler' 31298 5.809 0.000 5.809 0.000 {meth 'execute' of 'sqlite3.Connectio 10431 0.018 0.000 0.018 0.000 {method 'fetchone' of 'sqlite3.Cursor' 1 0.000 0.000 0.000 0.000 {range} But is it possible to further reduce the number of SQL queries to speed up the function even more?

  • C# and Metadata File Errors

    - by j-t-s
Hi All I've created my own little c# compiler using the tutorial on MSDN, and it's not working properly. I get a few errors, then I fix them, then I get new, different errors, then I fix them, etc etc. The latest error is really confusing me. --------------------------- --------------------------- Line number: 0, Error number: CS0006, 'Metadata file 'System.Linq.dll' could not be found; --------------------------- OK --------------------------- I do not know what this means. Can somebody please explain what's going on here? Here is my code. MY SAMPLE C# COMPILER CODE: using System; namespace JTM { public class CSCompiler { protected string ot, rt, ss, es; protected bool rg, cg; public string Compile(String se, String fe, String[] rdas, String[] fs, Boolean rn) { System.CodeDom.Compiler.CodeDomProvider CODEPROV = System.CodeDom.Compiler.CodeDomProvider.CreateProvider("CSharp"); ot = fe; System.CodeDom.Compiler.CompilerParameters PARAMS = new System.CodeDom.Compiler.CompilerParameters(); // Ensure the compiler generates an EXE file, not a DLL. PARAMS.GenerateExecutable = true; PARAMS.OutputAssembly = ot; foreach (String ay in rdas) { if (ay.Contains(".dll")) PARAMS.ReferencedAssemblies.Add(ay); else { string refd = ay; refd = refd + ".dll"; PARAMS.ReferencedAssemblies.Add(refd); } } System.CodeDom.Compiler.CompilerResults rs = CODEPROV.CompileAssemblyFromFile(PARAMS, fs); if (rs.Errors.Count > 0) { foreach (System.CodeDom.Compiler.CompilerError COMERR in rs.Errors) { es = es + "Line number: " + COMERR.Line + ", Error number: " + COMERR.ErrorNumber + ", '" + COMERR.ErrorText + ";" + Environment.NewLine + Environment.NewLine; } } else { // Compilation succeeded. es = "Compilation Succeeded."; if (rn) System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(ot); } return es; } } } ... And here is the app that passes the code to the above class: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.ComponentModel; using System.Data; using System.Drawing; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.Windows.Forms; namespace WindowsFormsApplication1 { public partial class Form1 : Form { public Form1() { InitializeComponent(); } private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { string[] f = { "Form1.cs", "Form1.Designer.cs", "Program.cs" }; string[] ra = { "System.dll", "System.Windows.Forms.dll", "System.Data.dll", "System.Drawing.dll", "System.Deployment.dll", "System.Xml.dll", "System.Linq.dll" }; JTS.CSCompiler CSC = new JTS.CSCompiler(); MessageBox.Show(CSC.Compile( textBox1.Text, @"Test Application.exe", ra, f, false)); } } } So, as you can see, all the using directives are there. I don't know what this error means. Any help at all is much appreciated. Thank you

  • NTRU Pseudo-code for computing Polynomial Inverses

    - by Neville
    Hello all. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to implement line 45 of the following pseudo-code. Require: the polynomial to invert a(x), N, and q. 1: k = 0 2: b = 1 3: c = 0 4: f = a 5: g = 0 {Steps 5-7 set g(x) = x^N - 1.} 6: g[0] = -1 7: g[N] = 1 8: loop 9: while f[0] = 0 do 10: for i = 1 to N do 11: f[i - 1] = f[i] {f(x) = f(x)/x} 12: c[N + 1 - i] = c[N - i] {c(x) = c(x) * x} 13: end for 14: f[N] = 0 15: c[0] = 0 16: k = k + 1 17: end while 18: if deg(f) = 0 then 19: goto Step 32 20: end if 21: if deg(f) < deg(g) then 22: temp = f {Exchange f and g} 23: f = g 24: g = temp 25: temp = b {Exchange b and c} 26: b = c 27: c = temp 28: end if 29: f = f XOR g 30: b = b XOR c 31: end loop 32: j = 0 33: k = k mod N 34: for i = N - 1 downto 0 do 35: j = i - k 36: if j < 0 then 37: j = j + N 38: end if 39: Fq[j] = b[i] 40: end for 41: v = 2 42: while v < q do 43: v = v * 2 44: StarMultiply(a; Fq; temp;N; v) 45: temp = 2 - temp mod v 46: StarMultiply(Fq; temp; Fq;N; v) 47: end while 48: for i = N - 1 downto 0 do 49: if Fq[i] < 0 then 50: Fq[i] = Fq[i] + q 51: end if 52: end for 53: {Inverse Poly Fq returns the inverse polynomial, Fq, through the argument list.} The function StarMultiply returns a polynomial (array) stored in the variable temp. Basically temp is a polynomial (I'm representing it as an array) and v is an integer (say 4 or 8), so what exactly does temp = 2-temp mod v equate to in normal language? How should i implement that line in my code. Can someone give me an example. The above algorithm is for computing Inverse polynomials for NTRUEncrypt key generation. The pseudo-code can be found on page 28 of this document. Thanks in advance.

My first guess was that there's a Hardware problem of some sort and I asked my Hoster (it's a rented root server) to do a full hardwarecheck - they did, but couldn't find any problem. I don't know what and how they checked but their support team is usually quite good. I ran memtester and cpuburn myself and couldn't find any error either. Unfortunately I have no reliable way to reproduce these segfaults, they seem to be more or less random. On a hunch I disabled the firewall of the system and ran one of the programs that segfaulted regularily (imapsync) and it seemed to take longer to segfault than before, so the problem might be related to the network stack. Or could just be a random thing. Is there a way to prevent the kernel from autoloading modules (I probably don't need all these modules and one of them might be the culprit)

  • Missing audio and problems playing FLV video converted from 720p .mov file with FFMPEG

    - by undefined
I have some .mov video files recorded from a JVC GC-FM1 HD video camera in 720p mode. I have FFMPEG running on a Linux box that I upload files to and have them encoded into FLV format. The video appears to be encoding ok but there is no audio in the resulting FLV file and when I play it back in Flash Player in a browser or on Adobe Media Player, the video pauses at the start. It appears that Adobe Media Player waits for the progress bar to reach the end of the video before starting the playback - i.e. the video will load, the picture pauses, the progress bar seeks to the end as if the video was playing then when it reaches the end the video picture starts. There is no audio on the video. I am noticing this in the video player I have built with Flash 8 using an FLVPlayback component and attached seekBar. The seek bar will start moving as if the video is playing but the picture remains paused. Here are some outputs from my FFMPEG log and the command I am using to encode the video - my FFMPEG command called from PHP - $cmd = 'ffmpeg -i ' . $sourcelocation.$filename.".".$fileext . • iPhone SDK: Audio Queue control

    - by codemercenary
Hi all, I am new to the audio queue services so I have taken an example from a book called iPhone Cool Projects where it describes how to stream audio. I want to extend this to being able to play a continuous playlist of links to mp3 files like an internet radio. The problem with the example code it that it does not detect when a stream ends and does not call AudioQueueStop at any point, so I added a counter to number of buffers added to the queue, and then decrement this counter each time audioQueueOutputCallback is called by the queue. This works fine except if when the buffer count goes to 0, and then I add a call AudioQueueFlush(audioQueue) and then AudioQueueStop(audioQueue, false) I get an error. If I only call AudioQueueReset, it continues to load the buffers again, but plays them out faster then it loads them... getting stuck in a loop and then crashing. 2010-04-14 13:56:29.745 AudioPlayer[2269:207] init player with URL 2010-04-14 13:56:29.941 AudioPlayer[2269:207] did recieve data 2010-04-14 13:56:29.942 AudioPlayer[2269:207] audio request didReceiveData 2010-04-14 13:56:29.944 AudioPlayer[2269:207] >>> start audio queue 2010-04-14 13:56:29.960 AudioPlayer[2269:207] packetCallback count 2 2010-04-14 13:56:29.961 AudioPlayer[2269:207] add buffer: 1 2010-04-14 13:56:29.962 AudioPlayer[2269:207] did recieve data 2010-04-14 13:56:29.963 AudioPlayer[2269:207] audio request didReceiveData 2010-04-14 13:56:29.963 AudioPlayer[2269:207] packetCallback count 1 2010-04-14 13:56:29.964 AudioPlayer[2269:207] add buffer: 2 2010-04-14 13:56:29.965 AudioPlayer[2269:207] packetCallback count 13 2010-04-14 13:56:29.967 AudioPlayer[2269:207] add buffer: 3 2010-04-14 13:56:29.968 AudioPlayer[2269:207] done with buffer: 3 2010-04-14 13:56:29.969 AudioPlayer[2269:207] done with buffer: 2 2010-04-14 13:56:29.974 AudioPlayer[2269:207] done with buffer: 1 So this loop continues some 20 - 30 times and then it crashes. The first time it plays an audio file it queues up the buffers and then plays sound, but doesn't callback to delete them until some 100 or more have been played. Can anyone explain this behavior? I read that there was a limit of 1 audio queue for MP3 playback for the iPhone. Is that still true? If not then I suppose I should use another audio queue for the next mp3 stream. I've had a look through the apple docs but it doesn't explain this in any particular detail. A better insight into this would be great. TIA.

  • How to best design a date/geographic proximity query on GAE?

    - by Dane
Hi all, I'm building a directory for finding athletic tournaments on GAE with web2py and a Flex front end. The user selects a location, a radius, and a maximum date from a set of choices. I have a basic version of this query implemented, but it's inefficient and slow. One way I know I can improve it is by condensing the many individual queries I'm using to assemble the objects into bulk queries. I just learned that was possible. But I'm also thinking about a more extensive redesign that utilizes memcache. The main problem is that I can't query the datastore by location because GAE won't allow multiple numerical comparison statements (<,<=,=,) in one query. I'm already using one for date, and I'd need TWO to check both latitude and longitude, so it's a no go. Currently, my algorithm looks like this: 1.) Query by date and select 2.) Use destination function from geopy's distance module to find the max and min latitude and longitudes for supplied distance 3.) Loop through results and remove all with lat/lng outside max/min 4.) Loop through again and use distance function to check exact distance, because step 2 will include some areas outside the radius. Remove results outside supplied distance (is this 2/3/4 combination inefficent?) 5.) Assemble many-to-many lists and attach to objects (this is where I need to switch to bulk operations) 6.) Return to client Here's my plan for using memcache.. let me know if I'm way out in left field on this as I have no prior experience with memcache or server caching in general. -Keep a list in the cache filled with "geo objects" that represent all my data. These have five properties: latitude, longitude, event_id, event_type (in anticipation of expanding beyond tournaments), and start_date. This list will be sorted by date. -Also keep a dict of pointers in the cache which represent the start and end indices in the cache for all the date ranges my app uses (next week, 2 weeks, month, 3 months, 6 months, year, 2 years). -Have a scheduled task that updates the pointers daily at 12am. -Add new inserts to the cache as well as the datastore; update pointers. Using this design, the algorithm would now look like: 1.) Use pointers to slice off appropriate chunk of list based on supplied date. 2-4.) Same as above algorithm, except with geo objects 5.) Use bulk operation to select full tournaments using remaining geo objects' event_ids 6.) Assemble many-to-manys 7.) Return to client Thoughts on this approach? Many thanks for reading and any advice you can give. -Dane

  • Object of type 'customObject' cannot be converted to type 'customObject'.

    - by Phani Kumar PV
i am receiving the follwing error when i am invoking a custom object "Object of type 'customObject' cannot be converted to type 'customObject'." Following is the scenario when i am getting the error i am invoking a method in a dll dynamically. Load an assembly CreateInstance.... calling MethodInfo.Invoke() passing int, string as a parameter for my method is working fine = No exceptions are thrown. But if I try and pass a one of my own custom class objects as a parameter, then I get an ArgumentException exception, and it is not either an ArgumentOutOfRangeException or ArgumentNullException. "Object of type 'customObject' cannot be converted to type 'customObject'." I am doing this in a web application. The class file containing the method is in a different proj . also the custom object is a sepearte class in the same file. there is no such thing called a static aseembly in my code. I am trying to invoke a webmethod dynamically. this webmethod is having the customObject type as an input parameter. So when i invoke the webmethod i am dynamically creating the proxy assembly and all. From the same assembly i am trying to create an instance of the cusotm object assinging the values to its properties and then passing this object as a parameter and invoking the method. everything is dynamic and nothing is created static.. :( add reference is not used. Following is a sample code i tried to create it public static object CallWebService(string webServiceAsmxUrl, string serviceName, string methodName, object[] args) { System.Net.WebClient client = new System.Net.WebClient(); //-Connect To the web service using (System.IO.Stream stream = client.OpenRead(webServiceAsmxUrl + "?wsdl")) { //--Now read the WSDL file describing a service. • How to pre-load all deployed assemblies for an AppDomain

    - by Andras Zoltan
Given an App Domain, there are many different locations that Fusion (the .Net assembly loader) will probe for a given assembly. Obviously, we take this functionality for granted and, since the probing appears to be embedded within the .Net runtime (Assembly._nLoad internal method seems to be the entry-point when Reflect-Loading - and I assume that implicit loading is probably covered by the same underlying algorithm), as developers we don't seem to be able to gain access to those search paths. My problem is that I have a component that does a lot of dynamic type resolution, and which needs to be able to ensure that all user-deployed assemblies for a given AppDomain are pre-loaded before it starts its work. Yes, it slows down startup - but the benefits we get from this component totally outweight this. The basic loading algorithm I've already written is as follows. It deep-scans a set of folders for any .dll (.exes are being excluded at the moment), and uses Assembly.LoadFrom to load the dll if it's AssemblyName cannot be found in the set of assemblies already loaded into the AppDomain (this is implemented inefficiently, but it can be optimized later): void PreLoad(IEnumerable<string> paths) { foreach(path p in paths) { PreLoad(p); } } void PreLoad(string p) { //all try/catch blocks are elided for brevity string[] files = null; files = Directory.GetFiles(p, "*.dll", SearchOption.AllDirectories); AssemblyName a = null; foreach (var s in files) { a = AssemblyName.GetAssemblyName(s); if (!AppDomain.CurrentDomain.GetAssemblies().Any( assembly => AssemblyName.ReferenceMatchesDefinition( assembly.GetName(), a))) Assembly.LoadFrom(s); } } LoadFrom is used because I've found that using Load() can lead to duplicate assemblies being loaded by Fusion if, when it probes for it, it doesn't find one loaded from where it expects to find it. So, with this in place, all I now have to do is to get a list in precedence order (highest to lowest) of the search paths that Fusion is going to be using when it searches for an assembly. Then I can simply iterate through them. The GAC is irrelevant for this, and I'm not interested in any environment-driven fixed paths that Fusion might use - only those paths that can be gleaned from the AppDomain which contain assemblies expressly deployed for the app. My first iteration of this simply used AppDomain.BaseDirectory. This works for services, form apps and console apps. It doesn't work for an Asp.Net website, however, since there are at least two main locations - the AppDomain.DynamicDirectory (where Asp.Net places it's dynamically generated page classes and any assemblies that the Aspx page code references), and then the site's Bin folder - which can be discovered from the AppDomain.SetupInformation.PrivateBinPath property. So I now have working code for the most basic types of apps now (Sql Server-hosted AppDomains are another story since the filesystem is virtualised) - but I came across an interesting issue a couple of days ago where this code simply doesn't work: the nUnit test runner. This uses both Shadow Copying (so my algorithm would need to be discovering and loading them from the shadow-copy drop folder, not from the bin folder) and it sets up the PrivateBinPath as being relative to the base directory. And of course there are loads of other hosting scenarios that I probably haven't considered; but which must be valid because otherwise Fusion would choke on loading the assemblies. I want to stop feeling around and introducing hack upon hack to accommodate these new scenarios as they crop up - what I want is, given an AppDomain and its setup information, the ability to produce this list of Folders that I should scan in order to pick up all the DLLs that are going to be loaded; regardless of how the AppDomain is setup. If Fusion can see them as all the same, then so should my code. Of course, I might have to alter the algorithm if .Net changes its internals - that's just a cross I'll have to bear. Equally, I'm happy to consider SQL Server and any other similar environments as edge-cases that remain unsupported for now. Any ideas!?

  • Mochiweb's Scalability Features

    - by ErJab
From all the articles I've read so far about Mochiweb, I've heard this over and over again that Mochiweb provides very good scalability. My question is, how exactly does Mochiweb get its scalability property? Is it from Erlang's inherent scalability properties or does Mochiweb have any additional code that explicitly enables it to scale well? Put another way, if I were to write a simple HTTP server in Erlang myself, with a simple 'loop' (recursive function) to handle requests, would it have the same level scalability as a simple web server built using the Mochiweb framework?

  • WPF Tree doesn't work

    - by phenevo
    Could you tell me why I can't see subItems? I've got winforms apps and I added my wpfusercontrol:ObjectsAndZonesTree ServiceProvider is my webservice. Adn method to get listofcountires with subitems works properly (i get countires, regions from this countires, provinces etc...) ElementHost elementHost = new ElementHost { Width = 150, Height = 50, Dock = DockStyle.Fill, Child = new ObjectsAndZonesTree() }; this.splitContainer3.Panel1.Controls.Add(elementHost); XAML: <TreeView Name="GroupView" Grid.Row="0" Grid.Column="0" ItemsSource="{Binding}"> <TreeView.Resources> <HierarchicalDataTemplate DataType="{x:Type ServiceProvider:Country }" ItemsSource="{Binding Items}"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=Name}" /> </HierarchicalDataTemplate> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type ServiceProvider:Region}" > <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=Name}" /> </DataTemplate> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type ServiceProvider:Province}" > <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=Name}" /> </DataTemplate> </TreeView.Resources> </TreeView> XAML.CS public ObjectsAndZonesTree() { InitializeComponent(); LoadView(); } private void LoadView() { GroupView.ItemsSource = new ServiceProvider().GetListOfObjectsAndZones(); } class Country: public class Country { string _name; [XmlAttribute] public string Name { get { return _name; } set { _name = value; } } string _code; [XmlAttribute] public string Code { get { return _code; } set { _code = value; } } string _continentCode; [XmlAttribute] public string ContinentCode { get { return _continentCode; } set { _continentCode = value; } } public Region[] ListOfRegions { get { return _listOfRegions; } set { _listOfRegions = value; } } private Region[] _listOfRegions; public IList<object> Items { get { IList<object> childNodes = new List<object>(); foreach (var group in this.ListOfRegions) childNodes.Add(group); return childNodes; } } } Class Region: public class Region { private Province[] _listOfProvinces; private string _name; private string _code; public Province[] ListOfProvinces { get { return _listOfProvinces; } set { _listOfProvinces = value; } } public string Name { get { return _name; } set { _name = value; } } public string Code { get { return _code; } set { _code = value; } } public string CountryCode { get { return _countryCode; } set { _countryCode = value; } } private string _countryCode; public IList<object> Items { get { IList<object> childNodes = new List<object>(); foreach (var group in this.ListOfProvinces) childNodes.Add(group); return childNodes; } } } It displays me only list of countires.
