  • Properly escaping check_command in nagios

    When I execute sudo -u nagios /usr/lib64/nagios/plugins/check_by_ssh.sh hostname "check_haproxy -u \"http://localhost:10000/haproxy?stats\;csv\"" it runs perfectly on the server. For this, I have this in my HAProxy.cfg define service { use generic-service hostgroup_name pwmail-ee-oxweb service_description HAProxy-ee servicegroups ssh-dep check_command check_by_ssh!check_haproxy -u \"http://localhost:10000/haproxy?stats\;csv\" contacts sysad,mail-hosting-rt } It doesn't work. Says that Return code of 127 is out of bounds - plugin may be missing. What am I doing wrong?

  • Network unreachable on Ubuntu guest after trying to set up a host only network on Virtualbox

    I have a Mac OS X host and a bunch of guests including Ubuntu and Arch Linux. I was trying to set up a host-only network at eth1 to let me ssh into the system. But now eth0 isn't working properly either. Ubuntu can no longer connect to remote hosts or browse the internet. It tells me that the network is unreachable. What's gone wrong here?     I would like to switch from desktop-based e-mail software (Thunderbird) to a web-based solution that I run on my own web server. I have already tried out Roundcube and while it does work reasonably well so far there is one great feature from Thunderbird that seems to be missing - it doesn't allow me to have a unified mailbox for multiple IMAP accounts. Can anybody recommend a web-based IMAP client that has this feature?

    I wonder if you can help me out... at the moment were using exim to relay our emails to an smtp_relay. The only problem is if the user exists and has an email address it won't exit the server and send them mail using our relay. I need it to go to the relay even if it's an internal email address.     In MySQL you have to authorized a user based on the name of the origin network. From my network to a remote one all connections appear as sent from mail.mycompany.com. But connections to another remote network it appears with a different origin. How to discover which name/ip it is using? I tried tcpdump and netstat in the destination but it is difficult to find my connection among billions of others. In my case the destination is a Windows Server 2003

  • 256MB VPS on XEN

    I am thinking of getting a 256MB server on XEN but not sure is it capable of handling this setup: Varnish + Nginx + Eaccelerator + PHP-FM + MySQL + Mail/FTP? I've tried this setup on OpenVZ and it was partly disastorous, especially with varnish in the equation, i've heard that XEN is better at memory management, sometimes shaving off 50mb or more in comparison to OpenVZ setups... if anyone has any helpful suggestions / input please let me know thanks

  • OpenSSH (Windows) does not forward X11

    I'm running Ubuntu 13.04 in VM and I wanted to do X11 forwarding to my host (Win 8), so far it works fine using PuTTY and XMing server for Windows. But I am curious why it doesn't work if I use OpenSSH binaries (it comes together with Git for windows). This is what I've done so far: ssh -X [email protected] (also tried with -Y) then gedit but received error of Cannot open display. echo $DISPLAY came out as empty. So, I try to export DISPLAY=localhost:0.0 but it still won't work. The DISPLAY environment that I set is exactly as when it runs with Putty. I also try changing the DISPLAY to 192.168.2.3:0.0 and other display number as well, but still it won't work. Of course I could just use Putty to make it work, but I was wondering why OpenSSH binaries does not work. I have enabled all settings required in both /etc/ssh/ssh_config and /etc/ssh/sshd_config.     Hello everyone, I'd like to setup postfix as an MTA for 2 domains, about 10 users each. I'm a bit confused with the documentation. Postfix has so many options for mail delivery. I'd like to have a simple file where I would store all the email addresses (and possibly their corresponding mailboxes). I wouldn't like neither system's passswd file nor mysql to be used for storing email users. What parts of documentation I should be focused on?

For example, Empathy minimizes to the system tray (mail icon) when the close button is pressed in the application window. How do I make Evolution do this as well? Essentially I would like to have Evolution hidden in the system tray instead of having to re-launch it every ten minutes to check for new messages (or leave it open and clutter the taskbar).

I've seen similar posts while googling, but almost all of them suggests that I should check /etc/hosts.allow and /etc/hosts.deny, which in my case, I can't. I can not connect to the box to see what's going on there. I rebooted the box, through web interface of server provider, and it even got worse.     I'm having an issue where my Exchange Edge Transport server receives mail (found in logs) and then it vanishes, never ending up in the users mailbox, I have a edge subscription setup between it and the main Exchange server, how can I go about tracing the message to figure out what is broken? I also have found records of the message in the logs on the main Exchange server. Thanks a ton for any help Edit: If I change port 25 on my main router to point to the main exchange server as opposed to the Edge Transport, email comes through fine form external domains and delivered in the correct mailbox

    For monitoring purposes I would like to add the IP address to the Postfix smtpd_banner: smtpd_banner = $myhostname ESMTP $smtp_bind_address which works and outputs: 220 mail.mydomain.com ESMTP 123.456.789.0 Now I am wondering if there are any (negative) repercussions to expect. I couldn't find anything about it in the RFC docs. The Postfix docs add another parameter ($mail_name) in their example, so I think I am fine. I just want to verify that my syntax is correct and is allowed.

    How can I manually insert a signature in Thunderbird when I am busy composing an email? I don't find the option/action in any of the menus (specifically not under Insert, as I would expect). (Note: I know how to configure Thunderbird to automatically insert a signature when creating a new mail in a certain account. But if you delete the signature (accidentaly or not), how can you reinsert it? Or how can you insert it for an account which isn't configured to automatically insert a signature?)
