  • Secure Copy File from remote server via scp and os module in Python

    I'm pretty new to Python and programming. I'm trying to copy a file between two computers via a python script. However the code os.system("ssh " + hostname + " scp " + filepath + " " + user + "@" + localhost + ":" cwd) won't work. I think it needs a password, as descriped in How do I copy a file to a remote server in python using scp or ssh?. I didn't get any error logs, the file just won't show in my current working directory. However every other command with os.system("ssh " + hostname + "command") or os.popen("ssh " + hostname + "command") does work. - command = e.g. ls When I try ssh hostname scp file user@local:directory in the commandline it works without entering a password. I tried to combine os.popen commands with getpass and pxssh module to establish a ssh connection to the remote server and use it to send commands directly (I only tested it for an easy command): import pxssh import getpass ssh = pxssh.pxssh() ssh.force_password = True hostname = raw_input("Hostname: ") user = raw_input("Username: ") password = getpass.getpass("Password: ") ssh.login(hostname, user, password) test = os.popen("hostname") print test But I'm not able to put commands through to the remote server (print test shows, that hostname = local and not the remote server), however I'm sure, the conection is established. I thought it would be easier to establish a connection than always use "ssh " + hostname in the bash commands. I also tried some of the workarounds in How do I copy a file to a remote server in python using scp or ssh?, but I must admit due to lack of expirience I didn't get them to work.     I am trying to create a Win32 Semaphore object which is inheritable. This means that any child processes I launch may automatically have the right to act on the same Win32 object. My code currently looks as follows: Semaphore semaphore = new Semaphore(0, 10); Process process = Process.Start(pathToExecutable, arguments); But the semaphore object in this code cannot be used by the child process. The code I am writing is a port of come working C++. The old C++ code achieves this by the following: SECURITY_ATTRIBUTES security = {0}; security.nLength = sizeof(security); security.bInheritHandle = TRUE; HANDLE semaphore = CreateSemaphore(&security, 0, LONG_MAX, NULL); Then later when CreateProcess is called the bInheritHandles argument is set to TRUE. (In both the C# and C++ case I am using the same child process (which is C++). It takes the semaphore ID on command line, and uses the value directly in a call to ReleaseSemaphore.) I suspect I need to construct a special SemaphoreSecurity or ProcessStartInfo object, but I haven't figured it out yet.

  • How to check whether user is login in web application?

    I want to learn the whole details of web application authentication. So, I decided to write a CodeIgniter authentication library from scratch. Now, I have to make design decision about how to determine whether one user is login. Basically, after user input username & password pair. A cookie is set for this session, following navigations in the web application will not require username & password. The server side will check whether the session cookie is valid to determine whether current user is login. The question is: how to determine whether cookie is valid cookie issued from server side? I can image the most simple way is to have the cookie value stored in session status as well. For each HTTP request, compare the value from cookie and the value from server session. (Since CodeIgniter session library store session variables in cookies, it is not applicable without some tweak.) This method requires storage in server side. For huge web application that is deployed in multiple datacenters. It is possible that user input username & password when browsing in one datacenter, while he/she access the web application in another datacenter later. The expected behavior is that user just input username & password once. As a result, all datacenters should be able to access the session status. That is possible not applicable even the session status is stored in external storage such as database. I tried Google. I login Google with Asian proxy which is supposed to direct me to datacenters in Asian. Then I switch to North American proxy which should direct me to datacenters in North America. It recognize my login without asking username and password again. So, is there any way to determine whether user is login without server side session status?

We want ANY user under Security Groups OU to have access to the application and not just the CN. Tomcat does not search OU's and it just searches CN's in our case. How do we configure our settings so we can do OU level authorization and not just CN level ? thanks Mat

When we try to deploy to a remote environment we have a problem. We use a two machine cluster, with the admin server and managed server on one machine, and another managed server on a seperate machine. When your plugin uploads the application to the admin server, it doesn't copy it to the second managed server on the seperate machine. This then causes the second managed server a problem, as it cannot find the application in the location where the admin server saved it on its own machine.     Hi i use wshttpbinding in my service Config and message security. my app works fine but after 10 or 20 min when client call any method of service, an exception throw cuz my security token will be expired, and connection cant be work. one solution is re_create connection to make new token (but i cant use this cuz my service contain datacontext and if i re_create service, datacontext will be new) other solution is change security type from message to transport (i try this solution but nothing change cuz other exception throw)

    I am in the process of switching from a Windows box to Ubunutu and I want to run my own local instance of Tomcat 6. I have installed Tomcat 6 without any basic issues. When I try to deploy a .war file that I had running on the Tomcat 6 instance on my Windows box I am getting the following error....     I want to create a hgrc file to set the username and password for all paths on some machine, e.g no matter in which directory I am in, hg clone some_path will always work without prompting for a username and a password (this is for an auto-deploy script). I followed the instructions and created a file: /etc/mercurial/hgrc.d/deploy.rc it's contents: [auth] default.prefix= http://myrepo default.username = myuname default.password = pwd But when I do hg clone some_path I get abort: error: Connection refused. What Am i doing wrong?

    Beginning Ruby Question: I'm trying to see if a string variable's contents is either "personal" "email" or "password". I'm trying: if params[:action] == "password" || "email" || "personal" foo else don't foo end But that doesn't work and returns strange results, and using IRB to play around with "or" statements I have no idea why the following happens: irb(main):040:0> a = "email" => "email" irb(main):041:0> a == "password" || "email" => "email" irb(main):042:0> a == "email" || "password" => true I just want something that if any of the 3 variables are true no matter what order they are in it returns true, if not it returns false.
