  • create a dict of lists from a string

    I want to convert a string such as 'a=b,a=c,a=d,b=e' into a dict of lists {'a': ['b', 'c', 'd'], 'b': ['e']} in Python 2.6. My current solution is this: def merge(d1, d2): for k, v in d2.items(): if k in d1: if type(d1[k]) != type(list()): d1[k] = list(d1[k]) d1[k].append(v) else: d1[k] = list(v) return d1 record = 'a=b,a=c,a=d,b=e' print reduce(merge, map(dict,[[x.split('=')] for x in record.split(',')])) which I'm sure is unnecessarily complicated. Any better solutions?

I found a way to access the iTunes application through: iTunes = SBApplication.applicationWithBundleIdentifier_("com.apple.iTunes") but I haven't figured out (yet) the way to perform searches.   • Can't get the value of an attribute with Selenium RC using xpath??

    I'm trying to get the first href attribute in a page using Selenium RC (in Python): sel.get_text("xpath=//@href") this returns an empty string. However, an identical xpath on the same page inside Firefox (using the "View XPath" extension) yields the correct value. I've tried fiddling with it, but the same happens for other attributes (eg @class) -- is there something awfully wrong with selenium or am I overlooking something trivial here?

The edges representation will contain some attribute of the relation. I have tried a memory map representation, arrays, dictionaries and string for represent that structure in memory, but this always crash because the memory limit.   • Which implementation of OrderedDict should be used in python2.6?

    As some of you may know in python2.7/3.2 we'll get OrderedDict with PEP372 however one of the reason the PEP existed was because everyone did their own implementation and they were all sightly incompatible. So which one of the 8 current implementations link text is backwards compatible with the 2.7 odict from python 2.7 in a way we can start using that now and depend on 2.7 in a couple of months?

  • Pass parameter one time, but use more times

    I'm trying to do this: commands = { 'py': 'python %s', 'md': 'markdown "%s" "%s.html"; gnome-open "%s.html"', } commands['md'] % 'file.md' But like you see, the commmands['md'] uses the parameter 3 times, but the commands['py'] just use once. How can I repeat the parameter without changing the last line (so, just passing the parameter one time?)

    I get an "unrecognized HTTP method" when trying to do a REPORT request using httplib and gae. Is there a workaround available? An httplib patch for gae? Do you I have to find another host in order to do this natively?   • Can Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package be freely redistributed

    I am planning to use py2exe to make an application developped with Python 2.6. It seems that my app need the VC redistribuables : http://www.py2exe.org/index.cgi/Tutorial#Step5 I've read this tutorial and the redistribuables license agreement and I am not sure if I can freely redistribute these files with my program. (I don't have VS2008 license) Can I bundle the redistribs into an installer and make the installation transparent for the user or do they have to download the files by their own from Microsoft website?
