  • Can I access the Cocoa Accessibility API from with Java on OSX?

    I need to write an app which can observe and manipulate the positions of windows on screen, and I've been told that this requires using Cocoa's Accessibility API. Unfortunately I'm a Java programmer, and Objective C scares me ;) Is it possible to access this Cocoa API from within Java? I know that back when Apple cared about Java it maintained a "bridge" to cocoa, but I'm not sure if this does what I need. Oh, and my IDE is Eclipse, in case that is relevant.

    I'm using Eclipse to write php and naturally I get color coding like all IDEs do. How do I get the same effect in a blog? See this example (scroll down to see the code colors), he has full colors, green, red, blue, pretty acceptable I'd say http://www.tellinya.com/read/2007/06/15/20.html Is there something that's standalone PHP that can achieve this, or do I need a plugin and install a CMS? I'd prefer standalone I guess if possible.

    I have compiled and jarred the various projects in my Java application, generating serialVersionUIDs automatically through Eclipse for all my classes derived from Serializable. I read the answers to this question, and verified that serialVersionUids are all private static final long. Nevertheless, I get an error like this when I try to run: java.io.InvalidClassException: com.acme.product.Widget; local class incompatible: stream classdesc serialVersionUID = 5226096973188250357, local class serialVersionUID = -5432967318654384362 What am I missing?

  • Emulate disk IO speeds in Android SDK

    I don't have a physical Android device to work with, so all I can use is the emulator. I'm wondering if there's something I could use to make the IO speeds more realistic - How do I slow down disk access to the speed it would be on a physical device? Also, this may be unrelated, but when I change the speed and latency options in Eclipse ADT DDMS view, I don't notice any change in internet speed on the emulator. Is this a bug?

I found this solution : http://think-robot.com/2009/06/hitch-object-oriented-event-handlers-with-jquery/ But there isn't disconnect feature ! Do you know other solution in jquery ? I know that the portablecontacts gem will retrieve contacts, but does not allow for adding or updating. I was wondering if anyone knew of a gem that will handle this type of interaction. If not what would be the best method to implement a gem that would make it easier to handle the responses.

    Hi everyone, I am currently working on a project and i would like my users to be able to backup/restore theirs accounts. I am looking for a rails plugin/gem that would easily do that, ie : current_user.backup() = backup_file current_user.restore(backup_file) = database import/replace I don't know if my question is very clear, but i would like to backup every user's related object (posts, comments, etc) and to be able to restore them from a backup file.     Question: How can you use the JQuery Auto-Completion plugin to suggest a location ("City, State") for an input field? Meaning, someone wants to type in "Chicago, IL" ... so they begin typing "Chi" and it auto-suggestions "Chicago, IL". My biggest hurdles is finding a service that I can query to find out all US city+state names. I essentially want to do what the StackOverflow "Tags" input form works but form "City, State" auto completion.

    I'm using the grails navigation plugin and one of the things i want to do is have the menu item have a dynamic number in it for example static navigation = [ group:'tabs', order:7, title:'Mail', action:'index', subItems: [ [action:'pending', order:1, title:"Pending"], [action:'active', order:10, title:'Active'], [action:'completed', order:11, title:'Completed'] ] ] So i want to figure out a way to make the title Mail(3) or Mail(2) based on the amount of messages a user has. I know this will have to be set in the method or by a service of some sort i'm just not sure how to get it to update.

  • jQuery related item table highlighter

    I have a table fill with cell items. If I click on a cell item, that cell item is 'linked' or related to other cell items, which need to be highlighted. If another cell item is clicked, that cell's related cells need to light up. Is there a jQuery plugin to accomplish something like this? Or would I have to look into writing one myself?
