  • Why use object.prototype.constructor in OOP javascript?

    - by Matt
    I've recently started reading up on OOP javascript and one thing that authors seem to skip over is when an object A has been declared and suddenly I see "A.prototype.constructor =A; For example, var A = function(){}; // This is the constructor of "A" A.prototype.constructor = A; A.prototype.value = 1; A.prototype.test = function() { alert(this.value); } var a = new A(); // create an instance of A alert(a.value); // => 1 So I run the command in firebug "var A = function(){};" and then "A.Constructor" Which reveals it's a function. I understand this. I run the code "A.prototype.constructor = A;" and I thought this changes the A constructor from Function to A. The constructor property of A has been changed right? Instead when I run "A.constructor" it gives me function () still. What's the point? I also see A.constructor.prototype.constructor.prototype.. what is going on?

  • Why jquery have problem with onbeforeprint event?

    - by Cesar Lopez
    Hi all, I have the following function. $(function() { $(".sectionHeader:gt(0)").click(function() { $(this).next(".fieldset").slideToggle("fast"); }); $("img[alt='minimize']").click(function(e) { $(this).closest("table").next(".fieldset").slideUp("fast"); e.stopPropagation(); return false; }); $("img[alt='maximize']").click(function(e) { $(this).closest("table").next(".fieldset").slideDown("fast"); e.stopPropagation(); return false; }); }); <script type="text/javascript"> window.onbeforeprint = expandAll; function expandAll(){ $(".fieldset:gt(0)").slideDown("fast"); } </script> For this html <table class="sectionHeader" ><tr ><td>Heading 1</td></tr></table> <div style="display:none;" class="fieldset">Content 1</div> <table class="sectionHeader" ><tr ><td>Heading 2</td></tr></table> <div style="display:none;" class="fieldset">Content 2</div> I have several div class="fieldset" over the page, but when I do print preview or print, I can see all divs sliding down before opening the print preview or printing but on the actual print preview or print out they are all collapse. I would appreciate if anyone comes with a solution for this. Anyone have any idea why is this or how to fix it? Thanks. PS:Using a does not work either ( I assume because jquery using toggle) and its not the kind of question I am looking for.

  • Image swap with a javascript onclick dropdown menu

    - by AzzyDude
    So I've got this code that has an image and when you click it a dropdown menu appears. Pretty simple. The code works fine but I'm trying to incorporate an image swap on click and I'm having difficulty. Here's the HTML and the JS (there's some CSS too, but I'll leave that out): HTML: <div id="header"> <dl class="dropdown"> <dt><a href="#"><img src="images/cogwheel_btn.png"/></a></dt> <dd> <ul> <li><a href="#">Favorites</a></li> <li><a href="#">History</a></li> </ul> </dd> </dl> </div> JS: $(document).ready(function() { $(".dropdown img.flag").addClass("flagvisibility"); $(".dropdown dt a").click(function() { $(".dropdown dd ul").toggle(); }); $(".dropdown dd ul li a").click(function() { var text = $(this).html(); $(".dropdown dt a span").html(text); $(".dropdown dd ul").hide(); $("#result").html("Selected value is: " + getSelectedValue("sample")); }); function getSelectedValue(id) { return $("#" + id).find("dt a span.value").html(); } $(document).bind('click', function(e) { var $clicked = $(e.target); if (!$clicked.parents().hasClass("dropdown")) $(".dropdown dd ul").hide(); }); $("#flagSwitcher").click(function() { $(".dropdown img.flag").toggleClass("flagvisibility"); }); });? I've tried adding lines like ("dt").empty(); and then ("dt").html("new_image") but it causes the dropdown functionality to stop working. Anyone any ideas?

  • Jquery automatic loading gif and button disable on submit click

    - by JK
    Is it possible to automate the showing/hiding of a ajax loading gif, and the disabling/enabling of the submit button at the same time? (when the submit button is a styled not a input type=submit) Currently when submitting I do this: $("#save_button_id").click(function () { if ($('#save_button_id').hasClass('ui-state-disabled')) return false; Save(); }); function Save() { StartAjax($("#save_button_id")); $.ajax({ success: function (data) { EndAjax($("#save_button_id")); // etc... }, error: function (xhr, status, error) { EndAjax($("#save_button_id")); // etc ... } }); } function StartAjax(button) { DisableButtonClick(button); $("#ajaxLoad").show(); } function EndAjax(button) { EnableButtonClick(button); $("#ajaxLoad").hide(); } I've seen a few places talk about how to use .ajaxStart() to automatically show the loading gif, but is it possible to also find a reference to the button (a styled tag) that was clicked, and automatically disable/enable that as well? The point of this is to not have to manually type in Start/EndAjax every time, and to make sure the app is consistent everywhere.

  • AngularJS - $routeParams Empty on $locationChangeSuccess

    - by Marc M.
    I configure my app in the following run block. Basically I want to preform an action that requires me to know the $routeParams every $locationChangeSuccess. However $routeParams is empty at this point! Are there any work rounds? What's going on? app.run(['$routeParams', function ($routeParams) { $rootScope.$on("$locationChangeSuccess", function () { console.log($routeParams); }); }]); UPDATE function configureApp(app, user) { app.config(['$routeProvider', function ($routeProvider) { $routeProvider. when('/rentroll', { templateUrl: 'rent-roll/rent-roll.html', controller: 'pwRentRollCtrl' }). when('/bill', { templateUrl: 'bill/bill/bill.html', controller: 'pwBillCtrl' }). when('/fileroom', { templateUrl: 'file-room/file-room/file-room.html', controller: 'pwFileRoomCtrl' }). when('/estate-creator', { templateUrl: 'estate/creator.html' }). when('/estate-manager', { templateUrl: 'estate/manager.html', controller: 'pwEstateManagerCtrl' }). when('/welcomepage', { templateURL: 'welcome-page/welcome-page.html', controller: 'welcomePageCtrl' }). otherwise({ redirectTo: '/welcomepage' }); }]); app.run(['$rootScope', '$routeParams', 'pwCurrentEstate','pwToolbar', function ($rootScope, $routeParams, pwCurrentEstate, pwToolbar) { $rootScope.user = user; $rootScope.$on("$locationChangeSuccess", function () { pwToolbar.reset(); console.log($routeParams); }); }]); } Accessing URL: http://localhost:8080/landlord/#/rentroll?landlord-account-id=ahlwcm9wZXJ0eS1tYW5hZ2VtZW50LXN1aXRlchwLEg9MYW5kbG9yZEFjY291bnQYgICAgICAgAoM&billing-month=2014-06

  • How to get child nodes after store load

    - by Azincourt
    Version: ExtJs 4.1 To change the child items I use this function: TreeStore (Ext.data.TreeStore) storeId : 'treeStore', ... constructor: function( oConfig ) { ... this.on( 'expand', function( oObj ) { oObj.eachChild(function(oNode) { switch(oNode.data.type) { case "report": oNode.set('icon', strIconReport); break; case "view": oNode.set('icon', strIconView); break; } }); }); Reload After removing or adding items in the tree, I reload the tree somewhere else with: var oStore = Ext.getStore('treeStore'); oStore.load({ node : oNode, params : { newpath : oNode.data.path, overwrite : true } }); Although it is the same store treeStore, after loading and expanding to the correct path, the icons are not changed since the .on( 'expand') function is not called. Why? Question How can I change the icons of this newly loaded store before it expands to the node path? What I tried Before calling .load() I tried to edit the children with oNode.eachChild(function(oChild) {} but no success.

  • jQuery - Multiple setInterval Conflict

    I am a jQuery novice and each of the following work fine on their own, but get out of time when working together. What am I doing wrong? Any improvement on the code would be appreciated too... It is to be used to rotate advertising. <!--- Header Rotator ---> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $("#header").load("header.cfm"); var refreshHeader = setInterval(function() { $("#header").load("header.cfm"); }, 10000); }); </script> <!--- Main Rotator ---> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $("#main").load("main.cfm"); var refreshMain = setInterval(function() { $("#main").load("main.cfm"); }, 5000); }); </script> <!--- Footer Rotator ---> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $("#footer").load("footer.cfm"); var refreshFooter = setInterval(function() { $("#footer").load("footer.cfm"); }, 2000); }); </script>

  • Why can't you return a List from a Compiled Query?

    - by Andrew
    I was speeding up my app by using compiled queries for queries which were getting hit over and over. I tried to implement it like this: Function Select(ByVal fk_id As Integer) As List(SomeEntity) Using db As New DataContext() db.ObjectTrackingEnabled = False Return CompiledSelect(db, fk_id) End Using End Function Shared CompiledSelect As Func(Of DataContext, Integer, List(Of SomeEntity)) = _ CompiledQuery.Compile(Function(db As DataContext, fk_id As Integer) _ (From u In db.SomeEntities _ Where u.SomeLinkedEntity.ID = fk_id _ Select u).ToList()) This did not work and I got this error message: Type : System.ArgumentNullException, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089 Message : Value cannot be null. Parameter name: value However, when I changed my compiled query to return IQueryable instead of List like so: Function Select(ByVal fk_id As Integer) As List(SomeEntity) Using db As New DataContext() db.ObjectTrackingEnabled = False Return CompiledSelect(db, fk_id).ToList() End Using End Function Shared CompiledSelect As Func(Of DataContext, Integer, IQueryable(Of SomeEntity)) = _ CompiledQuery.Compile(Function(db As DataContext, fk_id As Integer) _ From u In db.SomeEntities _ Where u.SomeLinkedEntity.ID = fk_id _ Select u) It worked fine. Can anyone shed any light as to why this is? BTW, compiled queries rock! They sped up my app by a factor of 2.

  • Using hover to swap images, I don't want to swap images if I'm on '.this_page'...

    - by richoid
    When I land on the page, another function (not shown, that works fine) sets the class of the appropriate nav to '.this_page' and then I roll over, and the images swap correctly, but when I hover and leave 'img.this_page' it swaps, the second time I do the hover. I don't want it 'img.this_page' to swap. I tried unbinding mouseout, but on hover apparently it rebinds... so each time you hover, it resets. Page is at http://flourgarden.com/wp/ Here's my function: function hoverNavs() { var baseURL='http://www.flourgarden.com/wp/wp-content/themes/flourgarden/images/nav'; var cache=[]; $j('.lcolumn a img').each(function() { var t = $j(this); var src1 = t.attr('src'); // initial src var newSrc = src1.substring(src1.lastIndexOf('/'), src1.lastIndexOf('.')); // let's get file name without extension i = baseURL+newSrc+'_select.png'; cache.push(i); t.hover(function(){ $j(this).attr('src', baseURL+newSrc+ '_select.' + /[^.]+$/.exec(src1)); //last part is for extension }, function(){ if($j(this).class == "this_page") { $j(this).attr('src', baseURL+newSrc+ '_select.' + /[^.]+$/.exec(src1)); } else { $j(this).attr('src', baseURL+newSrc+ '.' + /[^.]+$/.exec(src1)); } }); }); }

  • jQuery Suspected Naming Convention Problem

    - by donfigga
    Hi all, I'm having a problem with this jQuery function, the portion of the function that renames the id, class and name of the dropdown only works for the first dropdown, subsequent ones do not work, any ideas? I suspect it may have something to do with naming convention as in cat.parent_id but it is required for asp.net mvc model binding. $(document).ready(function () { $("table select").live("change", function () { var id = $(this).attr('id'); if ($(this).attr('classname') != "selected") { var rowIndex = $(this).closest('tr').prevAll().length; $.getJSON("/Category/GetSubCategories/" + $(this).val(), function (data) { if (data.length > 0) { //problematic portion $("#" + id).attr('classname', 'selected'); $("#" + id).attr('name', 'sel' + rowIndex); $("#" + id).attr('id', 'sel' + rowIndex); var position = ($('table').get(0)); var tr = position.insertRow(rowIndex + 1); var td1 = tr.insertCell(-1); var td2 = tr.insertCell(-1); td1.appendChild(document.createTextNode('SubCategory')); var sel = document.createElement("select"); sel.name = 'parent_id'; sel.id = 'parent_id'; sel.setAttribute('class', 'unselected'); td2.appendChild(sel); $('#parent_id').append($("<option></option>").attr("value", "-1").text("-please select item-")); $.each(data, function (GetSubCatergories, Category) { $('#parent_id').append($("<option></option>"). attr("value", Category.category_id). text(Category.name)); }); sel.name = 'cat.parent_id'; sel.id = 'cat.parent_id'; } }); } }); });

  • Can you stop a defered callback in jquery 1.5?

    - by chobo2
    Hi I am wondering say you have something like this // Assign handlers immediately after making the request, // and remember the jqxhr object for this request var jqxhr = $.ajax({ url: "example.php" }) .success(function(response) { alert("success"); }) // perform other work here ... // Set another success function for the request above jqxhr.success(function(response){ alert("second success"); }); So I am thinking this. I have a general function that I want to use on all my responses that would be passed into my success. This function basically does a check to see if the server validation found any errors. If it did they it formats it and displays a message. Now I am wondering if I could some how have the second success function to then do specific stuff. Like say One ajax request needs to add a row into a table. So this should be possible. I just do what I have above and in the second success I just add the row. Is it possible though that if the first success runs through and see that there are validation errors from the server that I can stop the second success from happening? Sort of If(first success finds errors) { // print out errors // don't continue onto next success } else { // go to next success } Edit I found that there is something call deferred.reject and this does stop it but I am wondering how can I specify to stop only the success one. Since my thinking is if there are other deffered ones like complete on it will the be rejected too?

  • Load In and Animate content

    - by crozer
    Hello, I have a little issue concerning an animation-effect which loads a certain div into the body of the site. Let me be more precise: I have a div with the id 'contact': <div id="contact">content</div> The jquery code loads the contents within that div, when I press the link with the id 'ajax_contact': <a href="#" id="ajax_contact">link</a>. The code is working perfectly. However, I want #contact to be HIDDEN when the site loads, i.e. the default state must be non-visible. Only when the user clicks the link #ajax_contact, the div must appear. Please have a look at the jquery code: $(document).ready(function() { var hash = window.location.hash.substr(1); var href = $('#ajax_contact').each(function(){ var href = $(this).attr('href'); if(hash==href.substr(0,href.length-5)){ var toLoad = hash+'.html #contact'; $('#contact').load(toLoad) } }); $('#ajax_contact').click(function(){ var toLoad = $(this).attr('href')+' #contact'; $('#contact').hide('fast',loadContent); $('#load').remove(); $('body').append('<span id="load">LOADING...</span>'); $('#load').fadeIn('normal'); window.location.hash = $(this).attr('href').substr(0,$(this).attr('href').length-5); function loadContent() { $('#contact').load(toLoad,'',showNewContent()) } function showNewContent() { $('#contact').show('normal',hideLoader()); } function hideLoader() { $('#load').fadeOut('normal'); } return false; }); }); I am not sure whether I must change something inside the HTML, but I believe the key is inside the jquery-code. I also tried giving the #contact a CSS style of visible:none, yet this loops and makes the jquery impossible to load the #contact in. I hope I've explained myself well; thank you very much in advance. Chris

  • DELETE causing a redirect loop?

    - by robocode
    I have an express app with a postgres backend where a user can add/delete recipes, and each time they do so they get an updated list of recipes. Adding a recipe is fine, but when I delete one it seems to get stuck in a redirect loop. In app.js I have router.get('/delete/:d', delRec.deleteRecipe); which calls the following code exports.deleteRecipe = function(req, res){ pg.connect(conString, function(err, client) { client.query('DELETE FROM recipes WHERE recipe_name = ', [req.params.d], function(err, result) { if(err) { return console.error('error running query', err); } else if (result) { pg.end(); console.log('deleting'); } }); }); res.redirect('recipes'); }; If I try delete a recipe, console.log('deleting') produces deleting deleting deleting deleting deleting deleting deleting deleting deleting deleting deleting deleting deleting deleting deleting deleting deleting deleting deleting deleting deleting The recipes route is below (sorry that it's so convoluted) router.get('/recipes', function(req, res) { pg.connect(conString, function(err, client) { if(err) { return console.error('could not connect to postgres', err); } client.query('SELECT * FROM recipes', function(err, result) { if(err) { return console.error('error running query', err); } recipes = result.rows; for(var d in recipes) { if (recipes.hasOwnProperty(d)) { recipeList[d] = recipes[d].recipe_name; } } res.render('recipes', {recipes: recipes, recipeList: recipeList}); }); }); });

  • How do I debug JavaScript .onlick event?

    - by user3700824
    I'm learning JavaScript but seem to be having a problem. I have a piece of code that is executed when the page is fully loaded. The function then gathers all the button elements on my HTML page. From here I loop through getting each button's title attribute and then assign an onclick event to the button that is equal to a function that writes to the console.log with the title. I have tried various ways of doing this but it is not working. Here is the JavaScript code that I'm working with. Currently all it does is loop through calling the function and logging the tile to the console.log, but this is not supposed to happen. Each time I click the button it should call the function with its title and log that. window.onload = myPageIsReady; function myPageIsReady(){ var myList = document.getElementsByTagName("button"); var myTitle = []; for(var i = 0; i < myList.length; i++){ myTitle[i] = myList[i].getAttribute("title"); myList[i].onclick = getMyTitle(myTitle[i]); }; function getMyTitle(myTitle){ console.log(myTitle); }; };

  • Is there a general-purpose printf-ish routine defined in any C standard

    - by supercat
    In many C libraries, there is a printf-style routine which is something like the following: int __vgprintf(void *info, (void)(*print_function(void*, char)), const char *format, va_list params); which will format the supplied string and call print_function with the passed-in info value and each character in sequence. A function like fprintf will pass __vgprintf the passed-in file parameter and a pointer to a function which will cast its void* to a FILE* and output the passed-in character to that file. A function like snprintf will create a struct holding a char* and length, and pass the address of that struct to a function which will output each character in sequence, space permitting. Is there any standard for such a function, which could be used if e.g. one wanted a function to output an arbitrary format to a TCP port? A common approach is to allocate a buffer one hopes is big enough, use snprintf to put the data there, and then output the data from the buffer. It would seem cleaner, though, if there were a standard way to to specify that the print formatter should call a user-supplied routine with each character.

  • Multiple generic types in one container

    - by Lirik
    I was looking at the answer of this question regarding multiple generic types in one container and I can't really get it to work: the properties of the Metadata class are not visible, since the abstract class doesn't have them. Here is a slightly modified version of the code in the original question: public abstract class Metadata { } public class Metadata<T> : Metadata { // ... some other meta data public T Function{ get; set; } } List<Metadata> metadataObjects; metadataObjects.Add(new Metadata<Func<double,double>>()); metadataObjects.Add(new Metadata<Func<int,double>>()); metadataObjects.Add(new Metadata<Func<double,int>>()); foreach( Metadata md in metadataObjects) { var tmp = md.Function; // <-- Error: does not contain a definition for Function } The exact error is: error CS1061: 'Metadata' does not contain a definition for 'Function' and no extension method 'Function' accepting a first argument of type 'Metadata' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) I believe it's because the abstract class does not define the property Function, thus the whole effort is completely useless. Is there a way that we can get the properties?

  • Body Mass Index program in haskell

    - by user364996
    Hi there. I'm trying to write a simple program in Haskell that can determine someone's body mass index. Here's what I have written: type Height = Float type Weight = Float type PeopleStats = [(String, Height, Weight)] and... bmi :: Height -> Weight -> Float bmi heightCm weightKg = weightKg/(heightCm)^2 healthy :: Height -> Weight -> Bool healthy heightCm weightKg | 25 > index && 18 < index = True | otherwise = False where index = bmi heightCm weightKg So far, the function "healthy" can calculate someone's BMI, and the function "healthyPeople" returns a boolean statement determining if the person's BMI falls within the limits which is considered normal for a healthy person. I want to write a function called "healthyPeople". healthyPeople :: PeopleStats -> [String] This function needs to take a list of PeopleStats and returns a list of names (Strings) of people who are deemed to be "healthy" from the "healthy" function. • ajax checkbox filter

    - by user1018298
    I need some help with a checkbox filter I am working in. I have four groups of checkboxes (type, vehicle, availability, price) and I would like to filter the content on the page based on the user's input. I can get the filter working OK but I am having issues with the groups. I can only seem to match one checkbox from each group rather than all checkboxes from each group. For example, a visitor can select 1 option in group 1, all options in group 2, 1 option in group three and 1 option in group 4. I am using ajax to build an SLQ query to return the correct filtered results from my database. here is my code: $('div.filters').delegate('input:checkbox', 'change', function() { var type = $('input.exp_type:checked').map(function () { return $(this).attr('value'); }).get().join(','); var vehicle = $('input.vehicle_type:checked').map(function () { return $(this).attr('value'); }).get().join(','); var avail = $('input.availability:checked').map(function () { return $(this).attr('value'); }).get().join(','); var price = $('input.price:checked').map(function () { return $(this).attr('value'); }).get().join(','); //alert($options); $.ajax({ type:"POST", url:"filtervouchers.php", data:"type="+type+"&vehicle="+vehicle+"&avail="+avail+"&price="+price, success:function(data){ $('.results').html(data); } });//end ajax }) and the php code: $type = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['type']); $vehicles = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['vehicle']); $avail = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['avail']); $price = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['price']); if ($type != '') { $sql2 = " AND exp_type IN ($type)"; } if ($vehicles != '') { $sql3 = " AND vehicle_type LIKE '%$vehicles%'"; } if ($avail != '') { $sql4 = " AND availability LIKE '%,' $avail% ','"; } if ($price != '') { $sql5 = " AND price_band IN ($price)"; } Can this be done using jquery?

  • Making a button click and process using javascript with Asp.Net

    - by user944919
    I'm having two buttons and one button is hidden. Now when I click the visible button I need to do two things 1.Open Iframe. 2.Automatically make the 2nd Button(Hidden)to be clicked. When the second button is clicked I need to display the message on top of the IFrame which I have mentioned as function showStickySuccessToast() Now I am able to open IFrame but I'm unable to make the Hidden button clicked automatically. This is what I'm having: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $("#<%=Button1.ClientID%>").click(function(event){ $('#<%=TextBox1.ClientID%>').change(function () { $('#various3').attr('href', $(this).val()); }); }); function showStickySuccessToast() { $().toastmessage('showToast', { text: 'Finished Processing!', sticky: false, position: 'middle-center', type: 'success', closeText: '', close: function () { } }); } }) </script> Here are my two buttons how I'm working with: <a id="various3" href="#"><asp:Button ID="Button1" runat="server" Text="Button" OnClientClick="Button2_Click"/></a> <asp:Button ID="Button2" runat="server" Text="Button" Visible="False" OnClick="Button2_Click"/> And in the button2_Click event: Protected Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click System.Web.UI.ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptBlock(Page, GetType(Page), "Script", "showStickySuccessToast();", True) End Sub
