  I am attempting to run Xstream in a netbeans proof of concept project. I have the following code. XStream xstream = new XStream(); FileOutputStream fis = new FileOutputStream("Test.xml"); xstream.toXML(company, fis); The program is crashing on the first line of code with the following error. • Core Data to-many relationship in code

  I have three entities: Session, User and Test. A session has 0-many users and a user can perform 0-6 tests. (I say 0 but in the real application always at least 1 is required, at least 1 user for a session and at least 1 test for a user. But I say 0 to express an empty start.) All entities have their own specific data attributes too. A user has a name, A session has a name, a test has six values to be filled in by the user, and so on. But my issue is with the relationships. How do I set multiple users and have them added to one session (same goes for multiple tests for one user). How do I show the content in a right way? How do I show a session that has multiple users and these users having completed multiple tests? • Objective C - creating concrete class instances from base class depending upon type

  Just to give a real world example, say the base class is Vehicle and concrete classes are TwoWheeler and FourWheeler. Now the type of the vehicle - TwoWheeler or FourWheeler, is decided by the base class Vehicle. When I create an instance of TwoWheeler/FourWheeler using alloc-init method, it calls the super implementation like below to set the value of common properties defined in the Vehicle class and out of these properties one of them is type that actually decides if the type is TwoWheeler or FourWheeler. if (self = [super initWithDictionary:dict]){ [self setOtherAttributes:dict]; return self; } Now when I get a collection of vehicles some of them could be TwoWheeler and others will be FourWheeler. Hence I cannot directly create an instance of TwoWheeler or FourWheeler like this Vehicle *v = [[TwoWheeler alloc] initWithDictionary:dict]; Is there any way I can create an instance of base class and once I know the type, create an instance of child class depending upon type and return it. With the current implementation, it would result in infinite loop because I call super implementation from concrete class. What would be the perfect design to handle this scenario when I don't know which concrete class should be instantiated beforehand?

  I'm trying to create a fetch predicate that is the analog to the SQL "IN" statement, and the syntax to do so with NSPredicate escapes me. Here's what I have so far (the relevant excerpt from my fetching routine): NSFetchRequest *request = [[[NSFetchRequest alloc] init] autorelease]; NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName: @"BodyPartCategory" inManagedObjectContext:_context]; [request setEntity:entity]; NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"(name IN %@)", [RPBodyPartCategory defaultBodyPartCategoryNames]]; [request setPredicate:predicate]; The entity "BodyPartCategory" has a string attribute "name". I have a list of names (just NSString objects) in an NSArray as returned by: [RPBodyPartCategory defaultBodyPartCategoryNames] So let's say that array has string such as {@"Liver", @"Kidney", @"Thyroid"} ... etc. I want to fetch all 'BodyPartCategory' instances whose name attribute matches one of the strings in the set provided (technically NSArray but I can make it an NSSet). In SQL, this would be something like: SELECT * FROM BodyPartCategories WHERE name IN ('Liver', 'Kidney', 'Thyroid') I've gone through various portions of the Predicate Programming Guide, but I don't see this simple use case covered.   Lets say I have an object of functions/values. I'm interested in overloading based on calling behavior. For example, this block of code below demonstrates what I wish to do. var main_thing = { initalized: false, something: "Hallo, welt!", something_else: [123,456,789], load: { sub1 : function() { //Some stuff }, sub2 : function() { //Some stuff }, all : function() { this.load.sub1(); this.load.sub2(); } } init: function () { this.initalized=true; this.something="Hello, world!"; this.something_else = [0,0,0]; this.load(); //I want this to call this.load.all() instead. } } The issue to me is that main_thing.load is assigned to an object, and to call main_thing.load.all() would call the function inside of the object (the () operator). What can I do to set up my code so I could use main_thing.load as an access the object, and main_thing.load() to execute some code? Or at least, similar behavior. Basically, this would be similar to a default constructor in other languages where you don't need to call main_thing.constructor(). If this isn't possible, please explain with a bit of detail.

  I am working on this app where I have one EditText field where you can write somthing and then it get saved and added to a list(TextView). I save the content of the EditText in this way : saved += "*" + editTextFelt.getText().toString() + ". \n"; saved is a String. Everything works fine, I can even reload the app and it's still displayed in the TextView, but if i try to write somthing and save it everything that was there, now dissapear. anyone know why ? It's kind of confusing, and I have to get it to work! Thank's!!   I wonder how setevent is handled internally within Windows. I have the following situation Std::thread thread loop which executes while std::atomic == true Inside the loop is a waitforsingleObject which sleeps infinite in alertable state. A function stopThread() which does the following: - Clears the atomic bool - Calls Setevent on the event object - Calls thread.join This often hangs, I get the impression that setevent has still some work to do in the current thread, while join blocks the current thread. If I add an additional Boolean in the thread which is set after waitforsinlgleObject and I wait for this to be set before calling join() Everything seems to work ok. I believe the issue is that the encryption key I have been supplied by the web service developers is 48 characters long. I see that the iPhone SDK constant "kCCKeySize3DES" is 24. So I SUSPECT, but don't know, that the commoncrypto API call is only using the first 24 characters of the supplied key. Is this correct? Is there ANY way I can get this to generate the correct encrypted pin? I have output the data bytes from the encryption PRIOR to base64 encoding it and have attempted to match this against those generated from the .NET code (with the help of a .NET developer who sent the byte array output to me). Neither the non-base64 encoded byte array nor the final base64 encoded strings match.

• Using Joda DateTime as a Jersey parameter?

  I'd like to use Joda's DateTime for query parameters in Jersey, but this isn't supported by Jersey out-of-the-box. I'm assuming that implementing an InjectableProvider is the proper way to add DateTime support. Can someone point me to a good implementation of an InjectableProvider for DateTime? Or is there an alternative approach worth recommending? (I'm aware I can convert from Date or String in my code, but this seems like a lesser solution). Thanks.   Let's say I have a collection of PDF files with the following paths: /some/path/pdfs/birds/duck.pdf /some/path/pdfs/birds/goose.pdf /some/path/pdfs/insects/fly.pdf /some/path/pdfs/insects/mosquito.pdf What I'd like to do is generate thumbnails for each PDF that respect the relative path structure, and output to another location, i.e.: /another/path/thumbnails/birds/duck.png /another/path/thumbnails/birds/goose.png /another/path/thumbnails/insects/fly.png /another/path/thumbnails/insects/mosquito.png I'd like this to be done in Ant.   I am attempting to get process information by using the HP-UX C/C++ library. After scouring the internet, I have discovered that HP-UX has the pstat.h header file which allows programmers to retrieve the process information. After attempting to understand code from the internet hp website, I attempted to create a little test sample to comprehend what the code does. I attempted to use example 3, however, I ran into several issues.   I am trying to generate a url but I keep getting a strange warning even though it works. • My ashx stopped working (Works locally, but not online)

  i have a simple ASHX file that returns pictures upon request (mainly a counter), previously the code simply fetched pre-made pictures(already uploaded and available) and sent them to the requester.. i just modified the code,so it would take a base picture, do some modifications on it, save it to the server, then serve it to the user.. tested it locally and it worked like a charm. however when i uploaded the code to my hosting service (Godaddy..) it didnt work. Can someone point the problem out to me? Note: ASHX worked with me before,so i know the web.config and IIS are handling them properly, however i think i am missing something ..
