    I have a class that implements IComparable. public class MyClass : IComparable<MyClass> { public int CompareTo(MyClass c) { return this.whatever.CompareTo(c.whatever); } etc.. } I then can call the sort method of a generic list of my class List<MyClass> c = new List<MyClass>(); //Add stuff, etc. c.Sort(); and have the list sorted according to my comparer. How do i specify further comparers to sort my collection different ways according to the other properties of MyClass in order to let users sort my collection in a number of different ways?

  • Copy an array backwards? Array.Copy?

    I have a List<T> that I want to be able to copy to an array backwards, meaning start from List.Count and copy maybe 5 items starting at the end of the list and working its way backwards. I could do this with a simple reverse for loop; however there is probably a faster/more efficient way of doing this so I thought I should ask. Can I use Array.Copy somehow? Originally I was using a Queue as that pops it off in the correct order I need, but I now need to pop off multiple items at once into an array and I thought a list would be faster.

    When using CFML and CF9 I usually var scope my loop variables; in this case local.i, for example: <cfloop list="#this.list#" index="local.i"> <cfif Len(local.i) GT 10> // do something </cfif> </cfloop> I recently started converting some stuff into CFScript, and (to my disappointment I found out that there is no way to loop over a list in CFScript) I'm wondering if I should still var scope my loop variables, and how: for (i = 1; LTE ListLen(this.list); i = i + 1 ) { if (Len(ListGetAt(this.list, i) GT 10)) { // do something } } Should I be doing local.i = 1 and local.i = local.i + 1 istead of the sample code in my example? Is it necessary? EDIT: I should also ask if the CFScript form of my CFML loop is correct; I ask because I just noticed that my CFML loop uses a , (comma and space) for the delimiter argument, which seems non-existence in the CFScript version of the loop.

    I want to convert a list of items inside of my payaload and convert them into a hashmap. Basically, what I have is an Item xml representation which have a list of ItemID. Each ItemID has an idType in it. However, inside my Item class, i want these ItemIDs to be represented as a Map. HashMap<ItemIDType, ItemID> The incoming payload will represent this as a list <Item>... <ItemIDs> <ItemID type="external" id="XYZ"/> <ItemID type="internal" id="20011"/> </ItemIDs> </Item> but I want an adapter that will convert this into a HashMap "external" => "xyz" "internal" => "20011" I am right now using a LinkedList public class MapHashMapListAdapter extends XmlAdapter<LinkedList<ItemID>, Map<ItemIDType, ItemID>> { public LinkedList<ItemID> marshal(final Map<ItemIDType, ItemID> v) throws Exception { ... } public Map<ItemIDType, ItemID> unmarshal(final LinkedList<ItemID> v) throws Exception { ... } } but for some reason when my payload gets converted, it fails to convert the list into a hashmap. The incoming LinkedList of the method unmarshal is an empty list. Do you guys have any idea what I am doing wrong here? Do I need to create my own data type here to handle the LinkedList?

My first idea was to make a list and then append things to it, but that didn't work too well. Then I thought of starting with a vector, and making a list out of that, at the end. Then I thought of making a matrix, and making a list out of that at the end. Not sure which way to even approach this. Any hints? thanks

  • Refactoring a long method that simply populates

    I am refactoring a method which is over 500 lines (don't ask me why) The method basically queries a list of maps from the database and for each map in the list does some computation and adds the value of that computation to the map. There are however too many computations and puts being done that the code has reached over 500 lines already!     My question is more of a best practices question on how to implement unowned relationships with Google App Engine. I am using JDO to do my persistence and like recommended in the google docs I'm persisting my list of unowned relationships like so: @PersistenceCapable(identityType = IdentityType.APPLICATION) public class User implements Serializable, UserDetails { ... @Persistent private List<Key> groups; ... } Now I came across my predicament when I went to query that list of objects using they Key object. So when I get my list of group keys in order to actually return a list of Group objects I have to do a look up on that key to get the object. My question is what is the recommended way of doing a unowned look up on a model object? Should I have an instance of the PersistanceManagerFactory on my Model object so I can do a lookup? Should I have an instance of my GroupDAO object on my Model object so I can do a look up? Should I have a Utility to do this type of lookup? I'm new to this so I just want to know which is the best way to do this. Thanks.

  • How to do "map chunks", like terraria or minecraft maps?

    Due to performance issues, I have to cut my maps into chunks. I manage the maps in this way: listMap[x][y] = new Tile (x,y); I tried in vain to cut this list for several "chunk" to avoid loading all the map because the fps are not very high with large map. And yet, when I update or Draw I do it with a little tile range. Here is how I proceed: foreach (List<Tile> list in listMap) { foreach (Tile leTile in list) { if ((leTile.Position.X < screenWidth + hero.Pos.X) && (leTile.Position.X > hero.Pos.X - tileSize) && (leTile.Position.Y < screenHeight + hero.Pos.Y) && (leTile.Position.Y > hero.Pos.Y - tileSize) ) { leTile.Draw(spriteBatch, gameTime); } } } (and the same thing, for the update method). So I try to learn with games like minecraft or terraria, and any two manages maps much larger than mine, without the slightest drop of fps. And apparently, they load "chunks". What I would like to understand is how to cut my list in Chunk, and how to display depending on the position of my character. I try many things without success.   • Keep the images downloaded in the listview during scrolling

    I'm developing my first app and have been reading a LOT here. I've been trying to find a solution for the following issue for over a week with no luck. I have an Adapter that extends ArrayAdapter to show image and 3 lines of text in each row. Inside the getView I assign relevant information for the TextViews and use ImageLoader class to download image and assign it to the ImageView. Everything works great! I have 4.5 rows visible on my screen (out of total of 20). When I scroll down for the first time the images continue to download and be assigned in right order to the list. BUT when I scroll back the list looses all the images and start redrawing them again (0.5-1 sec per image) in correct order. From what I've been reading it's the standard list performance but I want to change it. I want that, once the image was downloaded, it will be "sticked" to the list for the whole session of the current window. Just like in Contacts list or in the Market. It is only 20 images (6-9kb each). Hope I managed to explain myself.

One of my fields represent a database field with this format databaseName.tableName.fieldName I would like to have javascript autocompletion in three levels, say once I type part of the database names I get a list of all matching databases, one that is selected I get a list of all tables, and once that is selected I get a list of all fields in that table, all in the same textfield. I am not able to delete the cache directory since the file list is always null. Is there any other way to clear the application cache?
