  • Password protect web pages on Windows CE 6

    I am using the default web server for WinCE 6 and wish to password protect certain folders. The default VROOT /remoteadmin/ is password protected, and this works but my configuration doesn't work. I have tried mimicking these settings on my own folders but to little success. Here is how one looks: In the HKLM\Comm\HTTPD\VROOTS key I have created a subkey called /web/configuration (this folder actually exists on the box). The following values are in this key A = 1 DefaultPage = config.html Path = /hard disk/webroot/web/configuration/ UserList = ADMIN This is nigh on identical to the settings in /RemoteAdmin/ but /RemoteAdmin/ requests a password and /web/configuration doesn't (even after reboot).

  • HTTPD Restrict Acces to File via Web App

    I would like to restrict access to a file until the user has paid for it. This is easy enough if I served the file via a web app, but it seems more efficient to have httpd serve the file. Is there a way to get apache to ask a web app if it can serve a file before serving it? As I'm typing this it seems like it should be trivial but I'm not coming up with a good answer via google. Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hello all, I am working on building a web service (using c#) and this web service will use MS Sql server database. Now, I am trying to build an (exceptions log system) for this web service. Simply, I want to save every exception on the web service for future use (bug tracing), so, where is the best place to save these exceptions? Is it good idea to save it in the database? What if the exception is in the connection to the database itself? I really appreciate your help and your ideas. Thanks

  • Sharepoint Web Part validation set off by Publishing Controls

    I have a web part which uses validation on a textbox field to prevent submission of an empty field. When clicking on Check In to Share Draft or Publish, this validation is done, and since I am not actually trying to submit the form, but rather check it in, I'd rather this didn't happen. How can I achieve this?   • WebService remote invoking fails.

    I have a web service hosted on a web server, I invoke the web service using jquery ajax. The service returns results successfully when invoked locally from the server, but it fails when invoked from a remote client machine (not in the same domain). I see the request fail in the firebug returning error (401 UnAuthorized) and the response has the following error (Request format is unrecognized for URL unexpectedly ending in '/List').

Is it possible to create an msi that will install the app and the 11 web services and also set-up the app pools & create the apps in IIS? Or would I need an individual setup for each web service?   • Dependent on CVS tagging for automated builds

    My current work relies on using tags in CVS for an automated build process (ANT currently) to build for respective environments (development, QA, production). From our research, neither Git or Subversion support tagging in the same manner. If we use Subversion or Git, they don't support tags (in the same manner - please correct me?). So how would ANT or Maven know what to pick up for the respective build? Example: For a webapp, when viewing our repository say for the web.xml file -- the history would look like: web.xml v1 ... web.xml v1.2.3 Tag: Prod web.xml v1.2.4 web.xml v1.2.5 Tag: QA web.xml v1.2.6 web.xml v1.2.7 Head The ANT build scripts are run as CRON jobs, at different times & intervals for different environments. The environment build is based on the repository checkout, based on the tag.     A new MVC 2 project worked on my local machine but when it was deployed to the test server it gave the error 'Could not load file or assembly 'System.Web.Mvc, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies.' I have the full Visual Studio 2010 installed on my local machine but just the .NET 4 framework installed on the test servers. It seems the MVC assemblies do not come with .NET 4 framework itself so how to make MVC 2 work on the test servers? When I installed Visual Studio 2010 on my local machine it came with all the fruit included (.NET4 framework, MVC2 etc) so the System.Web.Mvc.dll can be found in my machine's GAC (C:\Windows\assembly). However, since there is no need to bloat the web servers only the plain old .NET4 framework has been installed on the test servers. This does NOT include the MVC assembly and that is why it cannot be found by the web application. You need this assembly to be on your web servers that you are deploying to but you want to avoid having to copy them into the GAC manually and doing all that gacutil mess or maybe you don't have access to your servers if they are hosted by provider. Solution You need to make the System.Web.Mvc assembly bin deployable... okay that doesn't sound easy but here is how to do it for the necessary MVC references: Simply right click the reference and select 'Properties' Then change 'Copy Local' to 'True': Note If your server has .NET 3.5 sp1 installed the new(ish) assemblies System.Web.Routing and System.Web.Abstractions will already be in the GAC. If you had previously deployed an MVC 1 application to a .NET 3.5 server you may remember having to deploy the other two assemblies too. Since MVC2 requires at least .NET 3.5 sp1 you will not need to worry about these assemblies, just System.Web.Mvc

  • Python script is exiting with no output and I have no idea why

    I'm attempting to debug a Subversion post-commit hook that calls some python scripts. What I've been able to determine so far is that when I run post-commit.bat manually (I've created a wrapper for it to make it easier) everything succeeds, but when SVN runs it one particular step doesn't work. We're using CollabNet SVNServe, which I know from the documentation removes all environment variables. This had caused some problems earlier, but shouldn't be an issue now. Before Subversion calls a hook script, it removes all variables - including $PATH on Unix, and %PATH% on Windows - from the environment. Therefore, your script can only run another program if you spell out that program's absolute name. The body of get_login is in a try block because I was getting strange errors saying there was an unhandled exception in callback_get_login. Never figured out why, but it seems fine now. Let sleeping dogs lie, right? The username and password for get_login are currently hard-coded (but correct) just to eliminate variables and try to change as little as possible at once. (I added the svnuser and svnpass arguments to the existing argument parsing.) So that's where I am. I can't figure out why on earth it's not printing anything into svn2ftp.out.log. If you're wondering, the output for one of these failed attempts in svn2ftp.debug.log is: 2012-09-06 15:18:12,496 INFO svnftp.start 2012-09-06 15:18:12,496 INFO svnftp.done And it's no different on a successful run. (business name, person first, person last, address, city, state, zip) a "1" and "2" of each. Now I want to search the DB and locate listed victims.     What's the standard way to keep the same menu on top among different web pages without having to duplicate it on each page (I don't mean that it doesn't reload like when using frames and only loading the bottom part; I want the menu to scroll with the page when scrolling down, like this, this, this and pretty much every single web page that exists). I found this answer but the guy can't use Php and I can. Plus, I see several people giving different suggestions, but I assume there is a standard since pretty much every single web page in the whole web have a menu on top that stays the same among multiple pages . I'm just a newbie on web design (I can program Php and Html easily but I have no idea about standards and stuff like that since I'm self-taught guy ;)). What I would normally do is to include the menu with php but I'm not sure if this is the "standard".

When manipulating Handler Mappings using the Microsoft.Web.Administration namespace, is there a way to remove the <remove name="handler name"> tag added at the site level. For example, I have a site which inherits all the handler mappings from the global handler mappings configuration.   • Diagnosing Solaris 8 server memory and swap space usage

    Hello everyone. Essentially, my question is related to memory allocation for Solaris virtual machines. I am running a couple of old Sun ONE 6 Java web servers on two Solaris 8 virtual machines. I see that there's a reasonable amount of swap space being used, but I'm not exactly sure if this could indicate a need to add more RAM to these machines. At service peak hours (mornings usually), the response time of the web application these servers host jumps up to at most 11 seconds (somewhat detrimental for a relatively simple web page loading action). Average response time at non peak times is about 5 seconds. What would you be able to infer about the RAM usage for these machines from the ouput below? Is this information reasonably sufficient? Or would I need to run some other commands to rule out server memory starvation? Finally, since there is a Java application at the core of the setup, I've also thought about: 1) Trace the heap's Object allocation to detect potential memory leaks. 2) Do some performance profiling to see if this instead related to networking delays. I mention this since the application talks with a single Oracle Database, but I would doubt this to be the case since they're pretty close from a network segmentation perspective. I appreciate any kind of insight and feedback you could provide. Thanks for your time and help.   • Send document to printer from web page

    I have a webpage that activates a print job on a printer. This works in the localhost environment but does not work when the application is deployed to the webserver. I'm using the PrintDocument class from the .net System.Drawing.Print namespace. I'm now assuming the printer has to be available to the application on the remote server? Any suggestions on how I would get this to work?   • Unable to Get values from Web Form to a PHP Class to Display

    I am having troubles getting the value from my variables submitted via a web form using a PHP class file. Here is my structure of the web page: Order Form Page Process.php Page Book.php Page I can easily get the user data entered (on Order Form Page), process, and display it on the Process.php page. The issue is that I must create a Book class and print the details of the data using the Book class. I have an empty constructor printing out "created" so I know my constructor is being called. I also am able to print the word "title" so I know I can print to the screen by using the Book class. My issue is that I can't get values in my variables in the Book class. Here is my variable declaration: private $title; Here is my printDetails function: public function printDetails () { echo "Title: " . $this->title . "<br />"; } Here is my new instance of the book class: $bookNow = new book; Here are my get and set functions: function __getTitle($title) { return $this->$title; } function __setTitle($title,$value) { $this->$title = $value; } I do have four other variables that I'm looking to display as well. Each of those have their own variable declaration, a line in printDetails, and their own setter and getter. Lastly, I also have a call to the Book class in my process PHP. It looks like this: function __autoload($book) { include $book . '.php'; } $bookNow = new book(); Any help, much appreciated. It must be something so very small (I'm hoping).
