I store the weight in kg's, i.e. 1 kg is stores as 1, 0.1 kg or 100g is stored as 0.1 To make it easier for the user, I display the weight in the Admin list display in grams by specifying: def show_weight(self): if self.weight: weight_in_g = self.weight * 1000 return '%0f' % weight_in_g So if a product weighs e.g. 0.5 kg and is stored in the database as such, the admin list display shows 500 Is there also a way to alter the number shown in the 'Change product' window. This window now shows the value extracted from the database, i.e. 0.5. This will confuse a user when I tell him with the help_text to enter the number in g, while seeing the number of kgs. Before saving the product I override save as follows: def save(self): if self.weight: self.weight = self.weight / 1000 This converts the number entered in grams to kgs.

  I was browsing my teacher's code when I stumbled across this: Order* order1 = NULL; then order1 = order(customer1, product2); which calls Order* order(Customer* customer, Product* product) { return new Order(customer, product); } This looks like silly code. I'm not sure why, but the teacher initialized all pointers to NULL instead of declaring them right away(looking at the code it's entirely possible, but he chose not to). My question is: is this good or acceptable code? Does the function call have any benefits over calling a constructor explicitely? And how does new work in this case? Can I imagine the code now as kind of like: order1 = new Order(customer, product);

  Hi, I have a table of products on my page, each product has zero or more colors, the colors are shown as a list beneath the product. After the colors I have a button to add a color. The button will do an ajax call with the parent product id to a controller which will return a JSON object with color information. My problem is where to store the product id in the DOM, should I put it in a hidden field and use jquery in the click event of the "add color" to get to it? What is the best way to do this? TIA, John EDIT: The page is initially rendered on the server so I don't want to use jquery to add the id's to the page.

  Up to the end of December 2009 everything worked fine, so i assume that after some upgrades on servers (Ubuntu 8.10 and second Ubuntu 9.10) something stopped working. Model: class Product < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :category file_column :thumbnail, :magick = { :geometry = "150x100" } there is of course table 'products' in database, and it has column 'thumbnail' what's interesting that File actually is uploaded to server, it goes to the /tmp directory under RackMultipartXXXX-0 name, and it is unmodified image. The problem is, that then this file is not moved to 'tmp' dir under RAILS_ROOT/public/product/ nor the 'XX' (where xx means ID of a product) under public/product also. i don't know what to do, i spend few HOURS trying different versions of file_column, also trying to make new, test rails application only from scaffold, but then, in this new application problem was the same

Writing arbitrary attributes on a model is deprecated, and I'm not sure why. • Crashing when pushing a XIB based view controller onto navigation controller stack

  I was attempting to clean up the implementation for a sub-panel on a navigation controller stack, so that the navigation bar could be customized in the XIB instead of doing it manually in the viewDidLoad method. The original (working) setup had the XIB set up with the "File's Owner" class set to the view controller class, and then the view at the top level. This works fine. In the "Interface Builder User Guide", p. 71, it describes the recommended way to build the XIBs for sub-panels ("additional navigation levels"). This approach leaves the "File's Owner" class as NSObject, but adds a UIViewController at the top level, and nests the view (and navigation item) underneath it. The UIViewController's view automatically gets connected to the contained view. When I try to push the controller init'd with this new XIB, the app crashes because of a missing view: SettingsViewController *controller = [[SettingsViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"SettingsView" bundle:nil]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:controller animated:YES]; 2010-04-23 11:17:37.135 xxxx[1173:207] * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: '-[UIViewController _loadViewFromNibNamed:bundle:] loaded the "SettingsTestView" nib but the view outlet was not set.' I've double checked everything, and tried building a clean XIB from scratch, but get the same result. I looked through a number of the code sample projects, and NONE of them use the documented/recommended approach--they all use the File's Owner class and manually set up the navigation bar in viewDidLoad like I originally had it. Will the history be updated too for all these new records with after_create filter which I already have ? • How do I get a full Magento session in an external script? (Specifically, Catalog Rules)

  I'm running an external script that loads up a Magento session. Within that script, I'm loading products and grabbing a bunch of properties. The one issue is that getFinalPrice() does not apply the catalog rules that apply to the product. I'm doing everything I know to set the session, even a bunch of stuff that I think is superfluous. Nothing seems to get these rules applied. • is there an equivalent of a trigger for general stored procedure execution on sql server

  Hi All, Hope you can help. Is there a way to detect when a stored proc is being run on SQL Server without altering the SP itself? Here's the requirement. We need to track users running reports from our enterprise data warehouse as the core product we use doesn't allow for this. Both core product reports and a slew of in-house ones we've added all return their data from individual stored procs. We don't have a practical way of altering the parts of the product webpages where reports are called from. We also can't change the stored procs for the core product reports. (It would be trivial to add a logging line to the start/end of each of our inhouse ones). What I'm trying to find therefore, is whether there's a way in SQL Server (2005 / 2008) to execute a logging stored proc whenever any other stored procedure runs, without altering those stored procedures themselves. We have general control over the SQL Server instance itself as it's local, we just don't want to change the product stored procs themselves. Any one have any ideas? Is there a kind of "stored proc executing trigger"? Is there an event model for SQL Server that we can hook custom .Net code into? (Just to discount it from the start, we want to try and make a change to SQL Server rather than get into capturing the report being run from the products webpages etc) Thoughts appreciated Thanks

Unfortunatelly I'm just beginning to learn python, so I have big trouble with its syntax. That's what I'm trying to do. I'm using method 'has_variants' which returns true if product has any. Then I'm building a list from variants for this product. Next for every product in this list (I've called it 'set') I check it's stock and set bool variable 'inactive' to true if product has no stocks and to false if there are any.   Hi. I'm trying to introduce the Linq2SQL technique into the project and have encountered the following issue: I've created ORM classes based on the Northwind database. In some other application I create several classes derived from the Linq2SQL classes. I'm able to add such a class to EntitySet but the application fails to submit changes. Is there any way around this? • 0xDEADBEEF equivalent for 64-bit development?

  For C++ development for 32-bit systems (be it Linux, Mac OS or Windows, PowerPC or x86) I have initialised pointers that would otherwise be undefined (e.g. they can not immediately get a proper value) like so: int *pInt = reinterpret_cast<int *>(0xDEADBEEF); (To save typing and being DRY the right-hand side would normally be in a constant, e.g. BAD_PTR.) If pInt is dereferenced before it gets a proper value then it will crash immediately on most systems (instead of crashing much later when some memory is overwritten or going into a very long loop). Of course the behavior is dependent on the underlying hardware (getting a 4 byte integer from the odd address 0xDEADBEEF from a user process may be perfectly valid), but the crashing has been 100% reliable for all the systems I have developed for so far (Mac OS 68xxx, Mac OS PowerPC, Linux Redhat Pentium, Windows GUI Pentium, Windows console Pentium). For instance on PowerPC it is illegal (bus fault) to fetch a 4 byte integer from an odd address. What is a good value for this on 64-bit systems?

  Hi, I have some troubles defining a query. I have a Product and a Category table. A product can belong to multiple categories and vice versa so there is also a Product-Category table. Now I want to select all products that belong to a certain category. But if the user does not provide a category I want all products. I try to create a query using a join but this results in the product being selected multiple times if it belongs to multiple categories (in the case no specific category is queried). What kind of query do I have to create? Thanks
