  • Connect to a VPN from a Virtual Machine

    I am running an Ubuntu ditro inside a VMWare virtual machine with a bridged connection on a windows 7 host. What I am trying to do is to have the virtual machine connect to a VPN, but I'm not having much success. At first, the system was using wicd, but I replaced it with network-manager who's supposed to have OpenVPN support. The problem is, even tho i've purged the wicd installation, there're connections shown in the network manager, and still, I'm able to access the net. I've also added the openvpn data in the network manager tab, but it's shown as never used. PS: when I try to stop and start the NetworkManager service, an error message pops up telling me that there's not such a service, but apt-get tells me i've already installed it...

  • Change AccountName/LoginName for a SharePoint User (SPUser)

    Consider the following: We have an account named MYDOMAIN\eholz. This accounts Active Directory Login Name changes to MYDOMAIN\eburrell Now this user was a active user in a Sharepoint 2010 team Site, and had a userProfile using the Account name MYDOMAIN\eholz. Since the AD LoginName changed to eburrell hence we need to update the Sharepoint User (SPUser object) as well update the userprofile to reflect the new account name. To update the Sharepoint User LoginName we can run the following stsadm command on the Server: STSADM –o migrateuser –oldlogin MYDOMAIN\eholz –newlogin MYDOMAIN\eburrell –ignoresidhistory However to update the Sharepoint 2010 UserProfile, i first tried running a Incremental/Full Synchronization using the User Profile Synchronization service… this did not work. To enable me to update the AccountName field (which is a read only field) of the UserProfile, I had to first delete the User Profile for MYDOMAIN\eholz and then run a FULL Synchronization using the User Profile Synchronization service which synchronizes the Sharepoint User Profiles with the AD profiles.

    I have an ASP web service that uses the Crystal Reports API to download an Excel report. Now, there is a few things I do not like about the Excel report that Crystal generates: - The column widths are static (as in they are not adjusted for the content). - I can't format the header row to be bold - If I suppress a data column in the report, it comes out in the Excel spreadsheet as a blank column. I currently use PHP to open the excel file, autosize the columns, bold the heading and remove blank columns, although using the PHPExcel class for this doesn't work well when the spreadsheet is only a few 100kb in size. I am thinking if I move this activity into the .NET web service, the performance will be much better. Does anyone know an efficient way of opening a Excel file and performing the operations listed above?

The reason you got error is that SharePoint 2010 Administration is not started, so to fix it you just need to start the services. Problem: Solution: To fix the issues, you need to start the SharePoint 2010 Administration service. 1. Go to services control panel. 2. Start the SharePoint 2010 Administration service. 3. Rerun your PowerShell, it should fix the problem.     I faced this issue when I try to deploy a solution and it failed initially due to SharePoint 2010 Administration service is not started. I then started the service and redeploy the solution; however I face the above issue. To fix it, you need to cancel the current deployment then redeploy the solution. Problem: Solution: To fix it, you need to cancel the current solution deployment. Go to CAà System Settings àManage farm solutions and then cancel the deployment. Next, you can redeployment your solution.

This search cannot be based on local database, as it needs live data (of available domains). The only possible way (to me) is to fetch every query from the original NIC (e.g. nic.com), but I was unable to find an API for this service.     We own multiple country code top-level domains for our website e.g DE, UK ,FR. When someone visits for one of those domains they redirect to .com and the language automatically changes for the first time to the one from the originating domain. Also users can change the language from the .com website using a dropdown, however the page URI stays exactly the same e.g service.php. How will that be indexed in Google ? Will all the different language will be indexed or only the default lang (English) ? Is it recommended for SEO purposes to do something with the page URL (even using the htaccess maybe) so that I can also append to the title or page name the language ? e.g service.php?lang=fr

    I'm developing a web site in php in localhost and as modules of it gets completed, I upload it on the cloud so that my friends can alpha test it. As I keep developing, I've lots of files and I lose track of which file I've edited or changed etc. I've heard of something as 'version control' to manage all those but am not sure how it works. So, my question is: Is there an easy way/service/application available to me to track all the edits/changes/new files and manage the files as I develop the website. As Soon as I'm done with a module, I want to upload it on the cloud (I'm using Amazon Cloud Service). If something happens to the new files, I might want to get back to the old file. And maybe, in a click or two, I get to see the files which I've edited or changed since the last one I've uploaded?
