• Android: Displaying Video on VideoView

  I'm trying to display a video in my sdcard on the video view. Here is my code: String name = Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory() + "/test.mp4"; final VideoView videoView = (VideoView)findViewById(R.id.videoView1); videoView.setOnPreparedListener(new MediaPlayer.OnPreparedListener() { public void onPrepared(MediaPlayer arg0) { videoView.start(); } }); videoView.setVideoPath(name); The file I am trying to open is called test.mp4 and its located within the sdcard folder. I get an error saying the application has unfortunately stopped. I would appreciate it if someone could help me. Thanks. EDIT : I used the debugger and found out that I get an InvocationTargetException. The detailed message says that : Failure delivering result ResultInfo{who=null, request=1001, result=-1, data=Intent { dat=file:///mnt/sdcard/test.mp4 }} to activity : java.lang.NullPointerException EDIT : I looked at the logcat again and it seems to give the error at videoView.setOnPreparedListener(new MediaPlayer.OnPreparedListener() { I'm guessing either videoView or MediaPlayer is null.

  Hello all, I was wondering what is the better method for Casting objects for C#: MyClassName test = (MyClassName)object; MyClassName test = object as MyClassName; I know already that if you do the first way, you get an exception, and the second way it sets test as null. However, I was wondering why do one over the other? I see the first way a lot, but I like how the second way because then I can check for null... If there isn't a 'better way' of doing it, what are the guidelines for using one way or the other?

• Synchronizing reading and writing with synchronous NamedPipes

  A Named Pipe Server is created with hPipe = CreateNamedPipe( zPipePath, PIPE_ACCESS_DUPLEX, PIPE_TYPE_BYTE | PIPE_WAIT | PIPE_READMODE_BYTE, PIPE_UNLIMITED_INSTANCES, 8192, 8192, NMPWAIT_USE_DEFAULT_WAIT, NULL) Then we immediately call: ConnectNamedPipe( hPipe, BYVAL %NULL ) Which blocks until the client connects. Then we proceed directly to ReadFile( hPipe, ... The problem is that it takes the Client takes a finite amount of time to prepare and write all the fcgi request parameters. This has usually not completed before the Pipe Server performs its ReadFile(). The Read file operation thus finds no data in the pipe and the process fails. Is there a mechanism to tell when a Write() has occurred/finished after a client has connected to a NamedPipe? If I had control of the Client process, I could use a common Mutex, but I don't, and I really do not want to get into I/O completion ports just to solve this problem! I can of course use a simple timer to wait 60m/s or so which is usually plenty of time for the wrote to complete, but that is a horrible hack.

  Hi I have a problem with the folowwing piece of code. I am passing a parameter (List) to a methods executing the following code. When it executes sql throws an error saying that the proc expects a parameter that was not provided. I know this error and understand it, and when stepping through the code I can see that the cmdExecuteReader object has a collection of parameters, with the correct naame and value.   I have seen lots of posts here and elsewhere stating that one can access session variables from app_code. I want to access an already created session. this code errors out because of a null exception. string myFile = HttpContext.Current.Session["UploadedFile"]; this creates a null session variable. System.Web.SessionState.HttpSessionState Session = HttpContext.Current.Session; It looks like I can create a new session variable but not access an already created one. Anyone have any idea what might be giving me problems?

• Issue with parsed text with HTMLCleaner - spaces at the begining of text

  Im able to get text using HTMLCleaner from website. The problem is that when I set the text to a TextView it shows the beginning of the text with a big space on it. Here is the screenshot of what im talking about. I have tried android:gravity but nothing happened. Please help. To get rid of it's output i normally would just create a sh-file which calls /usr/bin/php -c /etc/php5/cli/php.ini -q foo.php > /dev/null 2 > /dev/null now i'd like to do this in the interpreter-declaration of the php file it self... so i am looking for the syntax for: #!/usr/bin/php -args [file's content] > /redirect 2 > /redirect i have kind of a hard time googleing for it... so if anybody could point me into the right direction i would really appreciate it! Now I want to write a stored procedure which gets a node id and returns a result set that contains that node and all of its parents.   I have an actionlink that on click im passing a List of objects to a controller action. I can pass a single complex object fine just not a collection of it. Do I need the correct routing for this? The reason I'm doing this is instead of passing an id and do a look up in the controller action, I just pass in the data.

• EF4 Import/Lookup thousands of records - my performance stinks!

  I'm trying to setup something for a movie store website (using ASP.NET, EF4, SQL Server 2008), and in my scenario, I want to allow a "Member" store to import their catalog of movies stored in a text file containing ActorName, MovieTitle, and CatalogNumber as follows: Actor, Movie, CatalogNumber John Wayne, True Grit, 4577-12 (repeated for each record) This data will be used to lookup an actor and movie, and create a "MemberMovie" record, and my import speed is terrible if I import more than 100 or so records using these tables: Actor Table: Fields = {ID, Name, etc.} Movie Table: Fields = {ID, Title, ActorID, etc.} MemberMovie Table: Fields = {ID, CatalogNumber, MovieID, etc.} My methodology to import data into the MemberMovie table from a text file is as follows (after the file has been uploaded successfully): Create a context. For each line in the file, lookup the artist in the Actor table. For each Movie in the Artist table, lookup the matching title. If a matching Movie is found, add a new MemberMovie record to the context and call ctx.SaveChanges(). The performance of my implementation is terrible. My expectation is that this can be done with thousands of records in a few seconds (after the file has been uploaded), and I've got something that times out the browser. My question is this: What is the best approach for performing bulk lookups/inserts like this? Should I call SaveChanges only once rather than for each newly created MemberMovie? Would it be better to implement this using something like a stored procedure?   CREATE TABLE Customer ( customerID int identity (500,20) CONSTRAINT . . dateCreated datetime DEFAULT GetDate() NOT NULL, dateModified datetime DEFAULT GetDate() NOT NULL ); When i insert a record, dateCreated and dateModified gets set to default date/time. When i update/modify the record, dateModified and dateCreated remains as is? What should i do? Obviously, i need to dateCreated value to remain as was inserted the first time and dateModified keeps changing when a change/modification occurs in the record fields. In other words, can you please write a sample quick trigger? I don't know much yet... Any help will be appreciated.

So far my code looks like this however the answer im getting is larger than the actual height by 1, but when I remove the +1 from my return statements its less than the actual height by 1?   Hi, i am implementing a little Black Jack game in C# and i have the following problem calculating the player's hand value. the problem is Ace may have value of 1 or 11 so if the players has three cards and one Ace if the sum of the cards is <= 10 Ace will have value of 11(Sorry for who doesn't know the scope of the game is to reach 21 with the sum of the cards) Other way value of 1 Up to here is easy Now lets assume i do not know how many Aces the player has got and the game is implemented giving the possibility to the dealer to use more than one deck of cards. the user may have in one hand even 5,6,7,8 ... aces. What is the best way(possibly using Linq) to evaluate all the aces the player has got to get the closest combination to 21 (in addition tot he other cards)? Now I want to edit the entry. I've been using a generic function: def generic_edit(request, modelname, object_id): modelname = modelname.lower() form_class = form_dict[modelname] return update_object(request, form_class = form_class, object_id = object_id, template_name = 'createdit.html' ) but this pulls in all the info except the many-to-many selections saved to this object.
