  • Website programming language [closed]

    - by Develman
Hello everybody, I have worked a lot with PHP in last times, but I am not sure if it is the best choice for website programming. What language do you prefer for website programming? Which type (private, business, etc.) of website do you build with that language?

  • How do I make defensive copy of an object?

    - by kunjaan
How do I make defensive copies of a Mutable Object which contains a mutable field in an Immutable Object? class ImmutableObject { private final MutableObject immutable_field; ImmutableObject(MutableObject y) { this.immutable_field = y; } MutableObject return_immutable_field() { return immutable_field; } } class MutableObject { public int mutable_field; } The MutableObject does not have a constructor that lets me set the field. The MutableObject's current state should be captured in the Immutable Object and never changed.

  • What Design Pattern is this?

    - by 01
I know that everything we do in programming can be described as design pattern(even abstract method has design pattern called template method) public class Guicer extends AbstractModule { private static Injector injector = Guice.createInjector(new Guicer()); public static void setInjector(Injector injector) { Guicer.injector = injector; } public static T getInstance(Class c) { return injector.getInstance(c); } @Override protected void configure() { } } What design patterns are used in this code?

  • Quick question regarding Conditional Compilation (ifndef)

    - by sil3nt
Hello, This is quite probably a very silly question but I need to be sure. I've been given a class declaration in a header file eg. #ifndef file_H #define file_H class ex{ private: public: }; #endif and I've been required to write the method definitions in the same file, which I have done, my question is does the "#endif" stay where it is just after the class declaration or does it go at the end of my file after the class method definitions?.

    - by user338429

I know that we can do this with Lambda expression like this. a.OrderBy(s=>s.Length).ToArray(); but i want to this do by defining different function . What mistake i have done?

  • Why fill() and copy() of Collections in java is implemented this way

    - by Priyank Doshi
    According to javadoc... Collections.fill() is written as below : public static <T> void fill(List<? super T> list, T obj) { int size = list.size(); if (size < FILL_THRESHOLD || list instanceof RandomAccess) { for (int i=0; i<size; i++) list.set(i, obj); } else { ListIterator<? super T> itr = list.listIterator(); for (int i=0; i<size; i++) { itr.next(); itr.set(obj); } } } Its easy to understand why they didn't use listIterator for if (size < FILL_THRESHOLD || list instanceof RandomAccess) condition as of RandomAccess. But whats the use of size < FILL_THRESHOLD in above? I mean is there any significant performance benefit over using iterator for size>=FILL_THRESHOLD and not for size < FILL_THRESHOLD ? I see the same approach for Collections.copy() also : public static <T> void copy(List<? super T> dest, List<? extends T> src) { int srcSize = src.size(); if (srcSize > dest.size()) throw new IndexOutOfBoundsException("Source does not fit in dest"); if (srcSize < COPY_THRESHOLD || (src instanceof RandomAccess && dest instanceof RandomAccess)) { for (int i=0; i<srcSize; i++) dest.set(i, src.get(i)); } else { ListIterator<? super T> di=dest.listIterator(); ListIterator<? extends T> si=src.listIterator(); for (int i=0; i<srcSize; i++) { di.next(); di.set(si.next()); } } } FYI: private static final int FILL_THRESHOLD = 25; private static final int COPY_THRESHOLD = 10;

  • How can I hide a work item field from some users in TFS 2008?

    - by muerte
I'm customizing work item templates in TFS 2008 through the PowerTools and I'm wondering is it possible to hide a field (or it's value) for certain users? For example, let's say I open TFS to my clients so they can submit feature requests. I'd like them to see the work item created, to see the history, changes etc. but I'd like to keep some of the field private and for our internal use. Is it possible?

  • Access specifier's and classes and objects?

    - by TimothyTech
Alright, im trying to understand this, so a class is simply creating a template for an object. class Bow { int arrows; }; and an object is simply creating a specific item using the class template. Bow::Bow(arrows) { arrows = 20; } also another question, public specifiers are used to make data members avaible in objects and private specifiers are used to make data memebers only avaialble inside the class?

  • this.Width=30; NOT WORKING!

    - by j-t-s
Hi All, I've been doing this for years. But now it's just not working. private void Form1_Deactivate(object sender, EventArgs e) { this.Size = new Size(30, 29); txt.Visible = false; lbl.Visible = false; } The form just does not change Width. But, as above, the 3 controls DO become invisible. Any suggestions?

  • Changing website favicon dynamically

    - by rwmnau
I have a web application that's branded according to the user that's currently logged in. I'd like to change the favicon of the page to be the logo of the private label, but I'm unable to find any code or any examples of how to do this. Has anybody successfully done this before? I'm picturing having a dozen icons in a folder, and the reference to which favicon.ico file to use is just generated dynamically along with the HTML page. Thoughts?

  • Linking a Text Box to a variable?

    - by cam
I would like to have direct access to the text inside a textbox on another form, so I added a public variable _txt to a form and added an event like so: private void richTextBox1_TextChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { _txt = richTextBox1.Text; } But the form is loaded like this: public FrmTextChild(string text) { InitializeComponent(); _txt = text; richTextBox1.Text = _txt; Text = "Untitled.txt"; } Is there a better way to directly link the two?

    - by JoesyXHN
Hi, I want to check whether a string starts with any character in a list. My current implementation in C# is as follows: char[] columnChars = new char[] { 'A', 'B', 'C', 'D', 'E' }; private bool startWithColumn(string toCheck) { for(int i=0; i<columnChars.Length; i++) if (toCheck.StartsWith(columnChars[i]+"")) { return true; } return false; } I would like to know if any solution is better?

  • Constructor for an immutable struct

    - by Danvil
Consider the following simple immutable struct: struct Stash { public int X { get; private set; } public Stash(int _x) { X = _x; } } This is not working, because the compiler wants me to initialize the "backing field" before I can access the property. How can I solve this?

  • Can SQLite file copied successfully on the data folder of an unrooted android device ?

    - by student
    I know that in order to access the data folder on the device, it needs to be rooted. However, if I just want to copy the database from my assets folder to the data folder on my device, will the copying process works on an unrooted phone? The following is my Database Helper class. From logcat, I can verify that the methods call to copyDataBase(), createDataBase() and openDataBase() are returned successfully. However, I got this error message android.database.sqlite.SQLiteException: no such table: TABLE_NAME: when my application is executing rawQuery. I'm suspecting the database file is not copied successfully (cannot be too sure as I do not have access to data folder), yet the method call to copyDatabase() are not throwing any exception. What could it be? Thanks. ps: My device is still unrooted, I hope it is not the main cause of the error. public DatabaseHelper(Context context) { super(context, DB_NAME, null, 1); this.myContext = context; } public void createDataBase() throws IOException{ boolean dbExist = checkDataBase(); String s = new Boolean(dbExist).toString(); Log.d("dbExist", s ); if(dbExist){ //do nothing - database already exist Log.d("createdatabase","DB exists so do nothing"); }else{ this.getReadableDatabase(); try { copyDataBase(); Log.d("copydatabase","Successful return frm method call!"); } catch (IOException e) { throw new Error("Error copying database"); } } } private boolean checkDataBase(){ File dbFile = new File(DB_PATH + DB_NAME); return dbFile.exists(); } private void copyDataBase() throws IOException{ //Open your local db as the input stream InputStream myInput = null; myInput = myContext.getAssets().open(DB_NAME); Log.d("copydatabase","InputStream successful!"); // Path to the just created empty db String outFileName = DB_PATH + DB_NAME; //Open the empty db as the output stream OutputStream myOutput = new FileOutputStream(outFileName); //transfer bytes from the inputfile to the outputfile byte[] buffer = new byte[1024]; int length; while ((length = myInput.read(buffer))>0){ myOutput.write(buffer, 0, length); } //Close the streams myOutput.flush(); myOutput.close(); myInput.close(); } public void openDataBase() throws SQLException{ //Open the database String myPath = DB_PATH + DB_NAME; myDataBase = SQLiteDatabase.openDatabase(myPath, null, SQLiteDatabase.OPEN_READONLY); } /* @Override public synchronized void close() { if(myDataBase != null) myDataBase.close(); super.close(); }*/ public void close() { // NOTE: openHelper must now be a member of CallDataHelper; // you currently have it as a local in your constructor if (myDataBase != null) { myDataBase.close(); } } @Override public void onCreate(SQLiteDatabase db) { } @Override public void onUpgrade(SQLiteDatabase db, int oldVersion, int newVersion) { } }

Simple Example Code: Private ReadOnly Property MyProperyName() As String Get Console.WriteLine((Get Current Property Info).Type.ToString) Console.WriteLine((Get Current Property Info).Name) Return "" End Get End Property Expected output: System.String MyPropertyName

I'm doing a C# project and I want to call next_permutation from the algorithm library in C++.
