• How can I construct this file tree based on what files the user is allowed to view?

  I have an array of files that looks like this: Array ( [0] => Array ( [type] => folder [path] => RootFolder ) [1] => Array ( [type] => file [path] => RootFolder\error.log ) [2] => Array ( [type] => folder [path] => RootFolder\test ) [3] => Array ( [type] => file [path] => RootFolder\test\asd.txt ) [4] => Array ( [type] => folder [path] => RootFolder\test\sd ) [5] => Array ( [type] => file [path] => RootFolder\test\sd\testing.txt ) ) I parse this array and create a tree like view based on the depth of the files ('/' count). It looks like this: RootFolder - error.log - test - asd.txt - sd - testing.txt What I have now is an array of filepaths the user is allowed to view. I need to take this array into account when constructing the above tree. That array looks like this: Array ( [0] => Array ( [filePath] => RootFolder\test\sd ) [1] => Array ( [filePath] => RootFolder\error.log ) ) It would be easy to do a if in_array($path, $allowed) but that won't give me the tree. Just a list of files... Another part I'm stumped on is this requirement: If the user has access to view the folder test, they then have access to all children of that folder. My idea was to simply parse the filepaths. For example, I'd confirm that RootFolder\test\sd was a directory and then create a tree based on the '/' count. Like I was doing earlier. Then, since this is a directory, I'd pull out all files within this directory and show them to the user. However, I'm having trouble converting this to working code... Any ideas?

  In Rails, blocks can be used as callbacks, e.g.: class User < ActiveRecord::Base validates_presence_of :login, :email before_create {|user| user.name = user.login.capitalize if user.name.blank?} end When a block is used like this, is there any use for break and return? I'm asking because normally in a block, break will break out of the loop, and return will return from the enclosing method. But in a callback context, I can't get my head round what that means. The Ruby Programming Language suggests that return could cause a LocalJumpError but I haven't been able to reproduce this in a Rails callback. • Is it better to store user text (such as a blog entry or private messages) in the database or as flat files?

  I'm building a social networking type site that will be storing large chunks of text that's entered by users, such as blog entries and private messages. As such, these will be entered once, with minimal revisions, but many reads by multiple users over time. I'm using MySQL, by the way. My concerns are: Storing large blocks of text on the database will fill the database to capacity eventually. I read somewhere that storing user text in flat files is a security risk? (The filenames will be generated dynamically by the PHP, not by the user.) Storing them as text files may cause them to become out of sync if I ever have to reinitialize the database and restore it from backups. What are all your thoughts and advice, pros and cons?

  I'm in beginning programming and I don't fully understand applets yet. However, (with some help from internet tutorials) I was able to create an applet that plays a game of guess with the user.   Hi there, Im trying to ask the user to enter the number of columns and rows they want in a matrix, and then enter the values in the matrix...Im going to let them insert numbers one row at a time. • Using Google's Contacts API's, how can I get the user's name and gmail address?

  I know how to get the entire contacts list using Google Contacts API (I get a session token and use Google's Zend package for PHP). But how can I get the person's name and email address? Currently, the Contacts API just seems to give all of the contacts. I'm not sure how to distinguish which email and name out of that list corresponds to the user's account. Is there an easy way to get the user's full name and email address? Any help would be useful. Thanks!

  Hey everyone, I'm trying to write an app that consists of an activity that manages a background service. However, I want to implement a user setting for automatically starting the service up at boot time. I have user settings implemented with SharedPreferences and I have the services starting up at boot by using a BroadcastReceiver and listening for BOOT_COMPLETED. However, I can't figure out a good way to implement a setting so that the service is only started at boot if said setting is enabled. I can think of a few cheap ways to do this (such as messing with onCreate() in the service, or creating/checking for a file on SD card) but I want to follow good practice. There must be a good way to do this because there's tons of apps out there that do it, I just can't find anything online about how to do it. Thanks

I am getting the following error message in log files "Application trying to create a window but no driver could not be loaded. If I run the script directly on shell prompt using root user then WINE starts XServer properly and execute MS MSoffice in addition to that if I set xhost +local:apache on shell prompt then also it works fine.   I'm using Matlab to create a small chess game for one of my courses this semester. The thing I'm having trouble with is having the user be able to select one of the chess pieces. To simplify things, I'm making it so that the user selects a piece by clicking on the square that the chess piece resides on rather than clicking the piece itself (which I assume would be much more difficult). I know how to get the x and y coordinates of the view-port, but how do I transform these coordinates into 3-space coordinates? I know that there are multiple x,y,z coordinates associated with each view-port coordinate, but I'm only interested in the x,y,z coordinate where z = 0 (since the board itself is in the x,y plane that intersects the z axis where z = 0).   Hi, I'm not too familiar with javascript, is there a way to manipulate the DOM before the page is displayed to the user? I'm using GWT which makes you create the page elements via javascript. This is kind of convenient, but it appears that all the javascript code is executed after the page is first shown to the user. This has the effect of showing the page as a blank white screen, then all the UI elements popping onto screen. The effect is really apparent when switching between pages. If I were using php or jsp, it looks like the page ui elements are already prerendered and the browser won't show a blank white screen before display. So is there any hook in javascript where we can manipulate the DOM before the browser clears out the contents of the last page shown? Thanks

It is working well, except that the ForeignKey dropdown list is showing all values and I only want it to display the values that a pertinent for the logged in user. • Change the Way Google Search Results Display in Firefox

  Are you tired of the default look for search results at Google? If you want a different and customized pleasing look for them, then join us as we look at the GoogleMonkeyR User Script. Note: User Style Scripts & User Scripts can be added to most browsers but we are using Firefox & the Greasemonkey extension for our example here. Before Here is the standard look for search results at Google…not bad but it really does not stand out that well either. Installing the User Script You may be asking yourself what makes this particular user script different from others. Take a look at the list of goodies that you get access to and you will understand: Multiple columns of results Removes “Sponsored Links” Add numbers to the results Auto-load more results Removes web search dialogues Open links in a new tab Favicons GooglePreview Self updating Can be configured from a simple user dialogue To get started click on the Webpage Install Button. Once you click on the Webpage Install Button you will see the following window asking for confirmation to add the user script to Firefox. Click Install to complete the process. GoogleMonkeyR in Action Refreshing the same search page shown above shows a noticeable difference already. The light blue background makes the search results stand out a bit better. This is an improvement from before but you will definitely want to have a look to see just how far you can go… Right click on the Greasemonkey Status Bar Icon, go to User Script Commands, and select GoogleMonkeyR Preferences. Once you have clicked on GoogleMonkeyR Preferences the search page will be shaded out and you will have access to the user script’s preferences. This is where you can really make your search results unique looking! Here are the changes that we started out with… After refreshing our search results things looked even better. A look at the entire page of results with our browser maximized and set for two columns. If you have the Auto load more results Option enabled new results will be added very quickly as you scroll down. Our set of search results after adding Favicons & GooglePreview Images. Conclusion If you have been wanting a more dramatic and pleasing look for the search results at Google then you can not go wrong with the GoogleMonkeyR User Script. Change as little or as much as you want to get that perfect look in your browser. • Domain joining debate for Outlook 2010 with Exchange 2007 on windows SBS 2008 for a user on a laptop that will travel a fair amount of the time.

  I'm basically debating on whether or not to join the Domain on a Laptop, and was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience. If the computer were staying in the office, its a no brainer. Join the domain. In this case I have a user who will come into the office a few days a week, and work remotely the rest of the time. There is a working VPN using OpenVPN client/server, but it's not site-to-site. My knee jerk reaction is to not join the domain, so that the user can have 1 profile that they always use. In this configuration, should Outlook work properly with the user's domain account, and should the shared calendar still work (at least once inside the VPN)? My concern with joining the domain would be the inability to login to it when elsewhere. Is there maybe a way around this with caching or something? Would creating a second local login make sense for a user like this in any way? If so, why not just skip the domain join to begin with? Any thoughts on or experiences with this would be appreciated.
