  • Nvidia x server setting no specific option

    I just freshly installed Ubuntu 14.04 and did only 4 things: 1) $ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa $ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install nvidia-340 2) sudo apt-get install nvidia-current-updates nvidia-settings-updates 3) Went to Software & Updates/Additional drivers and chosen Using NVIDIA binary driver - version 340.32 from nvidia-340 (open source) I had to do part 3 because after part 1 I had driver version 304 Now to the main part. I cant set up custom resolution. When I had Ubuntu 12.04 year ago there was option in Nvidia x server setting called "Add custom resolution" or something like that and it was alright. Now this option is gone. How can I change/add custom resolution?

  • Why is my animation getting aborted?

    I have a class named Animation which handles my animations. The animation class can be called from multiple other classes. For example, the class Player.cs can call the animation class like this: Animation Playeranimation; Playeranimation = new Animation(TimeSpan.FromSeconds(2.5f), 80, 40, Animation.Sequences.forwards, 0, 5, false, true); //updating the animation public void Update(GameTime gametime) { Playeranimation.Update(gametime); } //drawing the animation public void Draw(SpriteBatch batch) { playeranimation.Draw(batch, PlayerAnimationSpritesheet, PosX, PosY, 0, SpriteEffects.None); } The class Lion.cs can call the animation class with the same code, only the animation parameters are changing because it's another animation that should be played: Animation Lionanimation; Lionanimation = new Animation(TimeSpan.FromSeconds(2.5f), 100, 60, Animation.Sequences.forwards, 0, 8, false, true); Other classes can call the animation class with the same code like the Player class. But sometimes I have some trouble with the animations. If an animation is running and then shortly afterwards another class calls the animation class too, the second animation starts but the first animation is getting aborted. In this case, the first animation couldn't run until it's end because another class started a new instance of the animation class. Why is an animation sometimes getting aborted when another animation starts? How can I solve this problem?   • C# XNA 4.0 multitextured cube

    So I am following this tutorial on how to draw a cube in XNA and I ran into a problem. Ok so my shader can only have texture right? I need to have a texture on the front and back of my cube. So I thought I could just have both textures stored in one texture. Problem is I do not know how to map out my UV coords to do so. (I tried dividing by 2 and such with no luck...).     This is the site: http://www.backpackers.rs Using "User Role Editor" i have user group that can only read and edit published pages so i can have as many users as i want in that user group and they all will have only one published page on their own so they can edit only that page. Now, this is how a user in that user group currently is seeing "edit page" page: http://i39.tinypic.com/rwuesh.png What i need is to disable all those things that have a red border around it + something with custom fields. So i need to disable these things for user in that user group: ability to change status of the page entire "Attributes" block is something that he/she must not see or be able to change ability to change something in "Discussion" block he/she shouldnt see "Page revisions" block i need a way to give those users ability to use only some custom fields. Currently we have 6 custom fields, and i want to give these users ability to only use 4 of those custom fields. i need to disable these users from creating new custom fields. I dont need complete answers for these things, something to get me started is really what i need. I have been reading codex a lot, but still didnt find something to help me with this, so basically any answer is more then appreciated!

  • best way to set up a VM for development (regarding performance)

    I am trying to set up a clean vm I will use in many of my devs. Hopefully I will use it many times and for a long time, so I want to get it right and set it up so performance is as good as possible. I have searched for a list of things to do, but strangely found only older posts, and none here. My requirements are: My host is Vista 32b, and guest is Windows2008 64b, using Vmware Workstation. The VM should also be able to run on a Vmware ESX I cannot move to other products (VirtualBox etc), but info about performance of each one is welcomed for reference. Anyway I guess most advices would apply to other OSs and other VM products. I need network connectivity to my LAN Guest will run many java processes, a DB and perform lots of file I/O What I have found so far is: HOWTO: Squeeze Every Last Drop of Performance Out of Your Virtual PCs: it's and old post, and about Virtual PC, but I guess most things still apply (and also apply to vmware). I guess it makes a difference to disable all unnecessary services, but the ones mentioned in 1 seem like too few, I specifically always disable Windows Search. Any other service I should disable?

  • Subclassing ViewPager Breaks Animation

    In my Android application I have an activity which uses a view pager to display 4+ pages (Fragments). I implemented buttons on each screen that move between pages by calling: pager.setCurrentItem(position, true); The view pager and fragments are all working as I desired. I then began looking for a solution to disable user swiping between pages so that the transition between pages in handled by the buttons only. The solution I found was mentioned in a few stackoverflow articles as well as This Blog that suggest subclassing the view pager to intercept touch events to disable swiping. I followed those examples by subclassing the view pager class as follows: public class ViewPager extends android.support.v4.view.ViewPager { private boolean enabled; public ViewPager(Context context, AttributeSet attrs) { super(context, attrs); this.enabled = true; } @Override public boolean onTouchEvent(MotionEvent event) { if (this.enabled) { return super.onTouchEvent(event); } return false; } @Override public boolean onInterceptTouchEvent(MotionEvent event) { if (this.enabled) { return super.onInterceptTouchEvent(event); } return false; } public void setSwipingEnabled(boolean enabled) { this.enabled = enabled; } } Using the subclassed view pager and calling setSwipingEnabled(false) works as was desired. The user can no longer move between pages with swipe gestures and I can still move between pages via button clicks by calling setCurrentItem(int position, boolean smoothScroll). However using the subclass breaks the animation between pages. When I call setCurrentItem(position, true) with android.support.v4.view.ViewPager I get very clean scrolling animations between pages. When I make the same call using the subclass the screen has a very brief 'flash' and then automatically draws the new page. I would like to know how to fix the animation while retaining the ability to disable user swiping between pages. I greatly appreciate any help with this. Let me know if you need any additional information. So far I have tested using a Samsung device running 2.3.5 and an AVD emulator targeting Android 2.3.3.

Here is some sample XML <term> <name>cholecystocolonic fistula</name> <definition>blah blah</definition> <reference>cholecystocolostomy</reference> </term> And here is the XSLT I wrote a while ago to process it <xsl:template name="term"> { "dictitle": "<xsl:value-of select="name" disable-output-escaping="yes" />", "html": "<xsl:value-of select="definition" disable-output-escaping="yes"/>", "referece": "<xsl:value-of select="reference" disable-output-escaping="yes"/> } </xsl:template> Basically I am creating JSON from the XML. The requirements have now changed so that now the XML can have more than one definition tag and reference tag. They can appear in any order, i.e definition, reference, reference, definition, reference. How can I update the XSLT to accommodate this? Probably worth mentioning that because my XSLT processor is using .NET I can only use XSLT 1.0 commands. Many thanks!

    I have a Repeater Control with various buttons in it. When the button gets clicked, it needs to disable itself so it cant be clicked again. Working. However, when I click that button, it needs to enable any other button but it. So, When I click on it, it needs to disable. When I click on another one, the previous button must enable, and that one must disable. So for I've tried: Button btnLoad = (Button)e.Item.FindControl("btnLoad"); foreach (Button b in e.Item.Controls.OfType<Button>().Select(c => c).Where(b => b != btnLoad)) { b.Enabled = true; } btnLoad.Text = "Currently Viewing"; btnLoad.Enabled = false; But it isnt working. Depending on where I put it, its either leaving all the buttons enabled (But still changing its text), or not doing anything at all. What do I need to do to make this work?

    I thought I'd share my experiences here. I work for a small business with only ~20 users. I wanted the ability to use managed client preferences to assign things like the software update server. Basically the ability to manage my Macs easily and in a native way. At first I tried the magic triangle solution, but I found this to be very complicated. Not only does it require a Mac OS X Server, but it gives you two points of failure. Additionally each Mac workstation must be bound to both servers. Eventually I sucked it up and went with the schema changes documented here. I was hesitant at first, because the instructions require a lot of manual work. However it was fairly basic and only took me about an hour and a half. Below you'll find the schema changes file that was a result of my work. I followed the instructions exactly and double checked everything, after six months of having this in place things have been running great. Too good to not share.   • Error in IE8 Win7: this tab has been recovered

    Hello everybody, I get this error every time I open IE8 in Win7, and a popup appear which says: this tab has been recovered and it close open the tab that I can't even surf a page (any page) with IE8, and after a while it crashes and close the program with no such an obvious error, I tried these methods to solve the problem but it doesn't work: 1.Reset Internet Explorer settings 2.Run IE without Add-ons 3.Scanned system for viruses with Eset Smart sercurity 4, there was no viruses. I would appreciate any suggestion, thanks.

  • Migration from XP to Windows 7 using recovered HD

    Is it possible to migrate the Windows XP Pro 32 bit operating system, applications etc from a USB external drive which is the recovered hard drive from that failed system to my new desktop computer with Windows7 64 bit system? In doing so, I would like to set up the new computer with the OS and all general applications on the primary 1TB hard drive while the secondary 1TB hard drive to have nothing else but graphics programs and gaming applications complete with their related files and add-ons.   • Java works under Firefox but not under Internet Explorer

    Java works under Firefox but not under IE. Java applet activated in security settings, activated in add-ons, activated in advanced tab; that's the advice they usually give in forums... I've also deleted my temporary internet files, reinstalled IE8 and it is also set as the default java for IE through the control panel. IE version: 8.0.6001.18702 Java version: 1.7.0_03. Windows XP SP3. Any advice? Thanks :)

  • Enabling RSA Toolbar in IE8

    OS - Win7 Utlimate 64 bit I have installed the RSA security toolbar used to VPN into my corporate network. I can see that RSA Toolbar is enabled in the Manage Add-Ons window. However I do not see the toolbar when I right-click in the toolbar section in IE. The add-on manger says that the toolbar is loaded but I cant get it to show in the toolbars section Any ideas? TIA

    I have tried using Multirow Bookmarks Toolbar Plus and Roomy Bookmarks Toolbar Firefox add-ons, but the problem is that they are constantly stressing my CPU (even when idling). It probably has something to do with version 11 of the browser. Anyway, is there some clean way to increase the height of the bookmarks toolbar? I've read a lot of articles that refer to userChrome.css and I have tried a dozen solutions, but none worked because they were outdated. Please help me with this.

The main problem is that a lot of users like me are missing some valuable information that was displayed in the statusbar on previous versions. For instance, when hovering a link the url is now displayed in the address bar and you can't see the entire address. Other information like which servers are being contacted when you load a page are no longer displayed.

Every how to on the web I've found is at least two years old and is based on a mod-security addon function in cPanel which doesn't exist anymore. There are a couple of free add ons to simplify selecting rule files (configserver's for example) but there's no documentation on which rules a cPanel system "should" be using and so on.
