  • Downloading Spreadsheets From Google Docs

    Hello, I am working on an Android app that uses the gdata-java-client to download documents for display only. So far I have an application that authenticates with the services and displays a list of user documents. When the user selects a document another query is made for the documents itself. A request for txt, html, rtf and doc files works well, however when I request a spreadsheet in either .csv or .xsl format the result is unexpected. I'm using an HTTPResponse object to store the result of a an HTTPRequest. When I request a document in .csv or .xsl format the HTTPResponse.parseAsString() method produces an entire html page which appears to be the Google Docs home page. Sounds strange, but the result is the actual html for the login page. The HTTPResponse.getStatusMessage returns a 200. Seems like I am missing something simple here. Is there another property of the HTTPResponse that contains the .csv data? I am pretty sure that I am using the correct uri for downloading spreadsheets because it works when I download through my browser.   • Displaying windows-1252 text in a literal control

    I currently have an aspx page that has a placeholder on it. In the code-behind page i'm adding a literal control to the placeholder controls collection. The literal control just contains text/html read from a sql server database field. The only text character encoding i've used so far is UTF-8. I have the requirement for a specific page to use windows-1252 encoding. I've strapped this to the page, and browsers now recognise the proper encoding. <% Response.Charset= "windows-1252" %> My issue is that i have various german characters ( ö / ü / etc ) that aren't displaying correctly. As presumably they are still be written to the page in UTF-8 not in windows-1252. I'm looking at; Dim textEncoder = System.Text.Encoding.GetEncoding(1252) Which seems to be more geared up to dealing with byte arrays than text. Do i have to change my text to a byte array then encode as windows-1252 then get the text back out again, or is there a simpler way of achieving what i'm after?

    from what i can gather the mailbox bit of the web interface works fine.. when any of the users go to options (top right) and try to use some of the features such as the Organise Mail Delivery Reports to find messages etc... it comes up with a message .. "An item with the same key has already been added" I've looked in the event viewer and i think its this error - Watson report about to be sent for process id: 7016, with parameters: E12IIS, c-RTL-AMD64, 14.00.0639.021, ECP, ECP.Powershell, https://x.x.x.x/ecp/PersonalSettings/Accounts.svc/GetList, UnexpectedCondition:ArgumentException, c09, 14.00.0639.021.   • Remote RAID Control in ESXi on a Dell PowerEdge 2950 Using OpenManage

    I was wondering how one can add a drive into an existing RAID array while ESXi is still running. I have read that you are able to use Dell OpenManage to do this. I have installed OMSA 7.0 on the VMWare ESXi host (5.0 and fully updated) and I've installed OpenManage Essentials on a Windows Server 2008 R2 guest. The issue that I'm having is that OpenManage is unable to see my RAID controller. I have seen videos and photos as parts of guides on how to do this online, so I would assume that the functionality exists and I just have it set up wrong.

  • Using Extended ACLs to control write access?

    I am trying to set up file uploading on a website, but I get a permissions error when trying to write to upload directory. When I asked my supervisor about this, he suggested using extended ACLs to give the server write access to the directory. I've looked ACLs and nothing has suggested to me that this is the right way to go. Am I just not looking in the right place? How would I use ACLs to do this, or if not, what would be the right way to go about this? Forgive me for I've never used ACLs before so I don't know what I'm talking about.

    I found I have problem to be a little addictive with surfing on internet. I am trying to find a free ware, (or software), that can help me for exemple to be just 2 hours per day on internet. Like it is counting the minutes and than stop working. not just 2 hours in one time, but in whole day.... maybe that it has different modes (2hours together, in whole day, 2hours + little reserve time) but I need something that really take me away access from internet :) Just counting time, is not enough for me :) Hope we will find something because, I just can't avoid not to loose 4 hours on internet.   • Is it possible to exclude some files from checkin (TFS) ?

    We use configuration files within various projects under source control (TFS), where each developer has to make some adjustments in his local copy to configure his environment. The build process takes care about replacing the config files with the server configuration as a part of the deployment, so it doesn't actually matter what is in the repository. However, we would anyway like to keep some kind of a default non-breaking version of config files in the repository, so that e.g. people not involved in the particular project won't run into troubles because of local misconfiguration. We tried to resolve this by introducing the check-in policy that simply forbids to check-in the config files. This works fine, but just because we're lazy to always uncheck those checkboxes in the pending changes window, the question comes : is it possible to transparently disable the check-in of particular files without keeping them out of source control (e.g. locking their current version) ?

  • Using java applet to send request with the client ip

    hi, i need to send a request to a website when a user submits their url, i tried using curl but it uses server ip which i dont want i have seen a website that is doing a similar job by using applet, users need to open a popup which contains the applet after they leave it open allow it to run it uses a port and then uses the localhost ip like so 127.0.0.1:64653 to send request and basicly curl by the user ip. i decompiled the applet the website was using and they were using java.net.ServerSocket and some other java code but i do not know anything about java. I would to know how this can be done.

  • ASP.NET inline code in a server control

    Ok, we had a problem come up today at work. It is a strange one that I never would have even thought to try. <form id="form1" runat="server" method="post" action="Default.aspx?id=<%= ID %>" > Ok, it is very ugly and I wouldn't have ever tried it myself. It came up in some code that was written years ago but had been working up until this weekend after a bunch of updates were installed on a client's web server where the code is hosted. The actual result of this is the following html: <form name="form1" method="post" action="Default.aspx?id=&lt;%= ID %>" id="form1"> The url ends up like this: http://localhost:6735/Default.aspx?id=<%= ID %> Which as you can see, demonstrates that the "<" symbol is being encoded before ASP.NET actually processes the page. It seems strange to me as I thought that even though it is not pretty by any means, it should work. I'm confused. To make matters worse, the client insists that it is a bug in IE since it appears to work in Firefox. In fact, it is broken in Firefox as well, except for some reason Firefox treats it as a 0. Any ideas on why this happens and how to fix it easily? Everything I try to render within the server control ends up getting escaped. Edit Ok, I found a "fix" <form id="form1" runat="server" method="post" action='<%# String.Format("Default.aspx?id={0}", 5) %>' > But that requires me to call DataBind which is adding more of a hack to the original hack. Guess if nobody thinks of anything else I'll have to go with that.

    Our company are having hard time managing project files and managing versions of PSD, HTML, PHP, and CSS files. Can anyone recommend a good software or workflow to handle files and versions. Here's my common scenario: I work for a project in my computer, it could be a Website mockup or a coding project. I then save all the files locally in my workstation. I'll then upload all the project files in the server connected in our network to have a backup. In my files, I usually append a "r1" for revisions, like "WebsiteMockup_r1" or "WebsiteMockup_r2". I need somehow to synchronize all my local files to the server and have some versions options.

  • DRb connecting to linux client from windows

    I have a few DRb services running on different windows machines and they can all connect and talk with each other just fine. When I put these DRb services on Linux machines and try to connect from windows nothing happens and I get a DRB:ConnError ... the service on Linux is never touched. So I did a netstat on the linux box and the service(port) were not listed anywhere even though the program is clearly running. Is there someting that I'm missing when talking to DRb services on Linux from a windows machine?

  • Windows XP volume control spontaneously slides to zero

    Was listening to a podcast in iTunes at my desk, left my desk briefly and as I sat down, the volume faded. If I scrolled the volume back up, using my keyboard or the volume tray icon, it would smoothly scroll back down again. I rebooted, same thing occurred. Figuring maybe I had a stuck keyboard or hitherto undiscovered mouse function, I unplugged each in turn. Volume still wanted to go to zero! Anyone know what might cause this? It's driving me nuts!

You can ask why are you using validation control if you dont want to show them My asnwer is "I use them for validation logic they handle" I looked the properties of the validation controls and cant find something that wil help me doing this.   • Best practices for using Hg with Grails?

    What should I check in/not check in? Since many of the files are sometimes auto-generated I'm not entirely sure how to handle this using version control...does it have something to do with tags? For instance in ANT, I know not to check-in my target/bin directories...but Grails adds another level of confusion to this...since some of code is generated and some of it is not. (It may become clearer as I go...but it seems to be that there needs to be some way of being able to tell what was just generated and what was modified by a developer so that it needs to be placed in version control)

    Is there any Informix documentation for optimizing any operating system where an ifx engine is running? For example, in Linux, strip-down to a bare minimum all unnecessary binaries, daemons, utilities, tune kernel parameters, optimize raw and cooked devices (hdparm), place swap space on beginning tracks of a disk, etc. Someday, maybe, Informix can create its own proprietary and dedicated PICK-like O/S to provide the most optimized environment for a standalone ifx server? The general idea is for the OS where ifx sits on have the smallest footprint and lowest overhead impact.

    Sometimes, a normal computer keyboard will only accept user's inputs up to a certain key simultaneously. I got a logitech keyboard that can accept up to 3-4 key presses at the same time. The computer does not accept any more input if you press more than 4 keys for this keyboard. And it also depends on certain areas of your keyboard as well. Some locations allow more key to be pressed (like the arrow keys), while some locations permit you to press only 1-2 keys. This also differs from keyboard to keyboard as well. Some older keyboards only accept up 1-2 keys. This isn't problematic with usual office work, but when it comes to gaming. For instance, imagine a platform game, where you have to jump, attack, and control direction at the same time. This implies several key presses and some keyboards cannot accept such simultaneous input. However, I've tried this on several games and the amount of possible keyboard inputs seem to be also different. Therefore, we have two issues: Keyboards have different amount of simultaneous inputs. Some games can accept more keyboard inputs than other games. At first, I thought this is hardware only problem, but why do some programs behave differently? Why some programs can accept more keyboard inputs than other programs? So how can we write our programs to accept more keyboard inputs?
