  • What's an appropriate HTTP status code to return by a REST API service for a validation failure?

    I'm currently returning 401 Unauthorized whenever I encounter a validation failure in my Django/Piston based REST API application. Having had a look at the HTTP Status Code Registry I'm not convinced that this is an appropriate code for a validation failure, what do y'all recommend? 400 Bad Request 401 Unauthorized 403 Forbidden 405 Method Not Allowed 406 Not Acceptable 412 Precondition Failed 417 Expectation Failed 422 Unprocessable Entity 424 Failed Dependency Update: "Validation failure" above means an application level data validation failure ie. incorrectly specified datetime, bogus email address etc.

  • As an experiment I want to work a bit with AWS. How much might I expect to pay?

I want them to be separate tests, but I want to have only log in once, is that possible? (As oppose to what I do right now: I log in first, then execute my testing actions of test1, then log in again and execute my testing actions for test2, etc.)

    Good day. I'm developing a Windows application and working with Windows Forms; .Net 2.0. I have an issue databinding a generic List of Car Rental Companies to a DataGridView when that list contains (one of its properties) anoother generic List of Car Makes. I also have a UserControl that I need to bind to this [inner] generic list ... Class CarRentalCompany contains: string Name, string Location, List CarMakes Class CarMake contains: string Name, bool isFord, bool isChevy, bool isOther The UserControl has a label for CarMake.Name and 3 checkboxes for each of the booleans of the class. HOw do I make this user control bindable for the class? In my form, I have a DataGridView binded to the CarRentalCompany object. The list CarMakes could be 0 or more items and I can add these as necessary. How do I establish the binding of CarRentalCompanies properly so CarMakes will bind accordingly??   • How do I get a JComponent to resize after calling `setVisible(true)`?

    Our application displays a 2D view of our data (mainly maps) and then allows the user to change to a 3D view. The 2D and 3D views are generated by custom C++ code that is SWIG'ed into our Swing GUI and wrapped within a JComponent. These JComponents are then displayed within another parent JComponent. Our problem is that when we change from the 2D to the 3D view and then back to the 2D view, when we resize the window the 2D view does not get resized. The resize events don't get sent to the 2D view. Our application runs under Linux (Fedora 11). We're running Java version 1.6.0_12. Here is some sample code in which I've replaced the 2D view and 3D view with two 2 JButtons, that produces the same behaviour.   • Problem with videos on heroku

    Hi, I have recently moved my RoR app on the Heroku platform, and almost everything works fine apart from the videos. It works fine when my app runs in local but not on heroku.     I'm kind of falling in love with Node.js not because you write app code in javascript but because of its performance. I really don't care a lot about how beautiful a server side language might be but how much requests per second it can handle.
