  • Sort/Group XML data with PHP?

    - by Volmar
    I'm trying to make a page using data from the discogs.com (XML)-API. i've been parsing it with simpleXML and it's working pretty well but there is some things i'm not sure how to do. Here is part of the XML: <releases> <release id="1468764" status="Accepted" type="Main"> <title>Versions</title> <format>12", EP</format> <label>Not On Label</label> <year>1999</year> </release> <release id="72246" status="Accepted" type="Main"> <title>The M.O.F Blend</title> <format>LP</format> <label>Blenda Records</label> <year>2002</year> </release> <release id="890064" status="Accepted" type="Main"> <title>The M.O.F Blend</title> <format>CD</format> <label>Blenda Records</label> <year>2002</year> </release> <release id="1563561" status="Accepted" type="TrackAppearance"> <title>Ännu En Gång Vol. 3</title> <trackinfo>Backtrack</trackinfo> <format>Cass, Comp, Mix</format> <label>Hemmalaget</label> <year>2001</year> </release> </releases> What i want to achieve is something similair to how discogs presents the releases: http://www.discogs.com/artist/Mics+Of+Fury where diferent versions of the same release are sorted together. (see. The M.O.F Blend in my link) This is done on discogs with having a master release that features the other releases. unfortunately this information isn't present in the API data, so i want to do the same thing by grouping the <release>-nodes with the same <title>-tags, or add a flag to the <releases> that don't have a unique <title>? any good ideas on the best way of doing this? i also like to know if it's possible to count the <release>-nodes (child of releases) that have the same type-attribute? like in this example count the releases with the type "Main"? maybe it's better to do this things with XMLReader or XPath?

  • Is Horde an acceptable framework for PHP groupware development?

    - by Glenn
    I'm working on this project and the customer wants it to integrate with a groupware package including bulk email, calendars, and task lists. He has heard about Horde and Horde GroupWare and is interested in using that. Do you have any developer related experience with Horde? If so, then what were your findings? Did you find it to be stable? What about the framework/API? Was it easy to integrate with?

  • JSONArray does not work when I am getting the JSON string from the server

    - by Taehoon A Kim
    I've looked up some answers but am not sure why mine is failing exactly... The code looks something like this HttpResponse httpResponse = httpClient.execute(httpPost); HttpEntity httpEntity = httpResponse.getEntity(); String json = EntityUtils.toString(httpEntity); //Convert to JsonArray JSONArray jsonArray = new JSONArray(json); Log.i(DEBUG_TAG, Integer.toString(jsonArray.length())); for (int i = 0; i < jsonArray.length(); i++) { JSONObject jsonObject = jsonArray.getJSONObject(i); Log.i(DEBUG_TAG, jsonObject.getString(KEY_ID)); // creating new HashMap HashMap<String, String> map = new HashMap<String, String>(); // adding each child node to HashMap key => value map.put(KEY_ID, jsonObject.getString(KEY_ID)); map.put(KEY_TITLE, jsonObject.getString(KEY_TITLE)); map.put(KEY_ARTIST, jsonObject.getString(KEY_ARTIST)); map.put(KEY_DURATION, jsonObject.getString(KEY_DURATION)); map.put(KEY_VOTECOUNT, jsonObject.getString(KEY_VOTECOUNT)); map.put(KEY_THUMB_URL, jsonObject.getString(KEY_THUMB_URL)); map.put(KEY_GENRE, jsonObject.getString(KEY_GENRE)); //Adding map to ArrayList if (Integer.parseInt(jsonObject.getString(KEY_VOTECOUNT)) == -1){ //If VoteCount is -1 then add to header headerList.add(map); }else { songsList.add(map); } } } catch (UnsupportedEncodingException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (ClientProtocolException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } When I run logcat on String json, it seems to show correct info which is kind of like this... { "userdata": [ { "id": "8", "title": "Baby One More Time", "artist": "Britney Spears", "duration": "03:24:00", "votes": "0", "thumb_url": "http://api.androidhive.info/music/images/dido.png", "genre": null }, { "id": "2", "title": "As Long As You Love Me", "artist": "Justin Bieber", "duration": "05:26:00", "votes": "0", "thumb_url": "http://api.androidhive.info/music/images/enrique.png", "genre": "Rock" } ] } and the logcat on JSONArray jsonArray = new JSONArray(json); tells me that jsonArray.length() 10-31 22:57:28.433: W/CustomizedListView(26945): error! Invalid index 0, size is 0 Please let me know Thank you,

  • Looking for an Open Source Project in need of help

    - by hvidgaard
    Hi StackOverflow! I'm a CS student on well on my way to graduate. I have had a difficult time of finding relevant student jobs (they seems to be taken merely hours after the notice gets on the board) , so instead I'm looking for an open source project in need of help. I'm aware that I should choose one that I use, but I'm not aware of any OS-project that I use that needs help. That's why I'm asking you. I don't have any deep experience, but I here are some of my biggest projects so far: BitTorrent-ish client in Python (a subset of BitTorrent) HTTP 1.1 webserver in Java Compiler from a subset of Java to run on JRE Flash-framework project to model an iPad look and feel (not to run actual iPad programs) complete with an API for programs. Complete MySQL database for a booking system, with departure and arrival times, so you could only book valid tickets (with a Java frontend). I know, Java and languages like AS3 and C# feels natural per se, Python, and have done a fair bit of hacking around in C, but I don't feel very comfortable with it. Mostly I'm afraid to make a fuckup because I have such a high degree of control. I would like to think I'm well aware of good software design practices, but in reality what I do is ask myself "would I like to use/maintain this?", and I love to refactor my code because I see optimizations. I love algorithms and to make them run in the best possible time. I don't have any preferred domain to work in, but I wouldn't mind it to be graphics or math heavy. Ideally I'm looking for a project in C++ to learn the in's and out's of it, but I'm well aware that I don't know that language very well. I would like to have a mentor-like figure until I'm confident enough to stand on my own, not one to review all my code (I'm sure someone will to start with anyway), but to ask questions about the project and language in question. I do have a wife and two children, so don't expect me to put in 10+ hours every week. In return I can work on my own, I strive to program modular and maintainable code. Know how to read an API, use Google, StackOverflow and online resources in general. If you have any questions, shoot. I'm looking forward to your suggestions.

  • Password Protected Excel File

    - by dhorn
    I have an excel spreadsheet that is password-protected. I need to open this spreadsheet and read the data from it. I've been attempting to use the POI API to no avail. A Java solution would be preferred but any ideas would be helpful. Edit: Yes, I have the password. Edit2: I am unable to open it with POI with the password, I am looking for an alternate solution.

  • Is PyOpenGL a good place to start learning opengl programing?

    - by Isaiah
    I want to start learning OpenGL but I don't really want to have to learn another language to do it. I already am pretty proficient in python and enjoy the language. I just want to know how close it is to the regular api? Will I be able to pretty easily follow tutorials and books without too much trouble? I know C++ gives better performance, but for just learning can I go wrong with PyOpenGL? Thanks alot
