  I want to fetch Windows Hotfix listing with some format, whose output can be separated with some delimiter. so far I found a wmic command which gives me a desired output but the problem is the \s delimiter is not going to work here. Is there a way I can place some , or anyother character, which I can later use in java program to get individual columns?   i write a method and when i add some insignificant code it works faster, like these : array[1]=array[1]; array[0]=array[0]; array[3]=array[3]; array[2]=array[2]; i use double t=System.currentTimeMillis(); at first to record the time. then call the method and use System.out.println(System.currentTimeMillis()-t); in the end. when i delete the code (array[1]=array[1];...) the cost time is 1035.0 ms,but if i add these code, the cost time become 898.0ms. here is my method and my code.   We have a large WinForms app, and there is a built-in bug reporting system that can be activated during testing via the F5 Key. I am capturing the F5 key with .Net's PreFilterMessage system. This works fine on the main forms, modal dialog boxes, etc. Unfortunately, the program also displays windows messageboxes when it needs to. When there is a bug with that, e.g., wrong text in the messagebox or it shouldn't be there, the messagefilter isn't executed at all when the messagebox is up! I realize I could fix it by either rewriting my own messagebox routine, or kicking off a separate thread that polls GetAsyncKeyState and calls the error reporter from there. However I was hoping for a method that was less of a hack.   I am using axis2 to come up with a basic web service which will get the file name as parameter and produces a response SOAP packet which will have the file attached along with the SOAP. • Debugger Visualizer, ElementHost, and Edit and Continue problems

  I recently wrote a custom Debugger Visualizer for Visual Studio 2008 for one of the custom types in my application. The UI for the visualizer is written in WPF and is hosted in an element host and shown using the IDialogVisualizerService windowService object. Everything works great, and my visualizer loads and shows the relevant information, but if try to "edit and continue" in my application after loading the visualizer, Visual Studio crashes with no useful error message. In trying to debug this I removed almost all of my code from the solution to the point where I was only serializing a string with the ObjectSource and displaying just an empty element host and I still get the crash on edit and continue. If I remove the element host and show a WinForms control or form there is no crash.   I am working on a latency sensitive part of an application, basically i will receive a network event transform the data and then insert all the data into the DB. I figure that the save should be quick and all the time should be spent on commit. but clearly I'm wrong. I have also tried removing the transaction (its not really necessary) but i saw worse times... I have set hibernate.jdbc.batch_size=20... i need this operation to be as fast as possible, ideally there would only be one roundtrip to the database. How can i do this?

  Hi. I had an old (but great) app using NHibernate 1.0.2. Worked like a charm. But then I decided to upgrade to NHibernate 2.1.2. Had to change some stuff, worked great also. Problem is, I founded out that new version works in some machines and do not work in others. What the heck? Thinking a while, I discovered that it only works in pcs with SQL 2000 installed!! previous version used to works everywhere....   I have some code in an XML file that I load and compile at runtime in an application. This works fine on Windows, but under Mono I get assembly reference errors. The specific errors I get in the compiler results are: cannot find metadata file 'system.dll' at line 0 column 0. cannot find metadata file 'system.xml.dll' at line 0 column 0. Mono obviously doesn't like the way I add referenced assemblies to the code I'm compiling for system.xml and system.xml.dll. The other two assemblies add fine, which is no surprise because they're the code that the compiler is actually executing from and exist in the executable directory. Any clue what I need to do to fix this? Maybe I could just drop those DLLs in the executable directory, but that feels like a dumb idea.

The repository is generic, so all I have is an ObjectContext object, rather than one that actually represents my specific one from the Entity Framework. • Using MSADO15.DLL and C++ with MinGW/GCC on Windows Vista

  INTRODUCTION Hi, I am very new to C++, is my 1st statement. I have started initially with VC++ 2008 Express, I've notice that GCC becomes kind of standard so I am trying to make the right steps event from the beginning. I have written a piece of code that connects to MSSQL Server via ADO, on VC++ it's working like a charm by importing MSADO15.dll: #import "msado15.dll" no_namespace rename("EOF", "EndOfFile") Because I am going to move from VC++ I was looking for an alternative (eventually multi-platform) IDE, so I stick (for this time) with Code::Block (I'm using last nightly buil, SVN 6181). As compiler I choose to use GCC 3.4.5 (ported via MinGW 5.1.6), under Vista. I was trying to compile a simple "hello world" application with GCC that use/import the same msado15.dll (#import "c:\Program Files\Common Files\System\ADO\msado15.dll" no_namespace rename("EOF", "EndOfFile")) and I was surprised to see a lot of compile-time errors. I was expected that the #import compiler's directive will generate a library from "msado15.dll" so it can link to it later (link-edit time or whatever). • Running job in the background from Perl WITHOUT waiting for return

  The Disclaimer First of all, I know this question (or close variations) have been asked a thousand times. I really spent a few hours looking in the obvious and the not-so-obvious places, but there may be something small I'm missing. The Context Let me define the problem more clearly: I'm writing a newsletter app in which I want the actual sending process to be async. As in, user clicks "send", request returns immediately and then they can check the progress in a specific page (via AJAX, for example). It's written in your traditional LAMP stack. In the particular host I'm using, PHP's exec() and system() are disabled for security reasons, but Perl's system functions (exec, system and backticks) aren't. So my workaround solution was to create a "trigger" script in Perl that calls the actual sender via the PHP CLI, and redirects to the progress page. Where I'm Stuck The very line the calls the sender is, as of now: system("php -q sender.php &"); Problem being, it's not returning immediately, but waiting for the script to finish. I want it to run in the background but the system call itself returns right away. I also tried running a similar script in my Linux terminal, and in fact the prompt doesn't show until after the script has finished, even though my test output doesn't run, indicating it's really running in the background. What I already tried Perl's exec() function - same result of system(). Changing the command to: "php -q sender.php | at now"), hoping that the "at" daemon would return and that the PHP process itself wouldn't be attached to Perl. What should I try now?

• Iteration speed of int vs long

  I have the following two programs: long startTime = System.currentTimeMillis(); for (int i = 0; i < N; i++); long endTime = System.currentTimeMillis(); System.out.println("Elapsed time: " + (endTime - startTime) + " msecs"); and long startTime = System.currentTimeMillis(); for (long i = 0; i < N; i++); long endTime = System.currentTimeMillis(); System.out.println("Elapsed time: " + (endTime - startTime) + " msecs"); Note: the only difference is the type of the loop variable (int and long). When I run this, the first program consistently prints between 0 and 16 msecs, regardless of the value of N. The second takes a lot longer. For N == Integer.MAX_VALUE, it runs in about 1800 msecs on my machine. The run time appears to be more or less linear in N. So why is this? I suppose the JIT-compiler optimizes the int loop to death. And for good reason, because obviously it doesn't do anything. But why doesn't it do so for the long loop as well? A colleague thought we might be measuring the JIT compiler doing its work in the long loop, but since the run time seems to be linear in N, this probably isn't the case.

  Hi, I have been using the ASP.NET chart controls for a while on win2k3 (32bit) setups without any issue but have noticed that on our new win2k8 (64bit) box I am getting a warning message showing up in the event viewer from the chart control.
