Tried imagemagick without much success, though Mozilla used to have a command line option to do it?

  • Autorun a removable device in Linux

    I have a removable device setup so it autoruns when plugged into a Windows machine and pops up a message giving the owner's information, so it can be returned if lost. Is there a way to do this in Linux as well? It doesn't need to be complex, it can be an option in a right-click menu, or a splashscreen, or anything.

    I am trying to set the Text property of a drop down list option like this: <asp:ListItem Value="AB" Text='<%= Resources.Get("USA") %>'></asp:ListItem> But it isn't working, instead the Text value is literally <%= Resources.Get("USA") %> and not the string "USA". i.e. it is not being interpreted as code. What is the problem?

    In my .gvimrc I have following lines: set listchars=tab:\.\ ,trail:- set softtabstop=2 set shiftwidth=2 set tabstop=2 set expandtab When I change last line to set noexpandtab the indents can be seen and marked with . Is there a way to make vim treat expanded tabs like "normal" tab so that list option works as expected?

  • Mysql console slow on import of huge sql files

    My import of sql via the mysql console is rather slow and as our sql file is increasing every day I would like to know if there are any alternatives on how to import a sql file faster. Changing to oracle or other systems is no option, the configuration has to stay the same. Currently the sql file is: 1.5 Gb I'm on Wamp with Apache 2.2.14, PHP 5.2.11 and MySQL 5.1.41. Any suggestions?

  • How to pass a variable inside a jquery fonction $.each($("abc")...?

    I'm trying to iterate a bunch of SELECT OPTION html drop-down fields and from the ones that are NOT empty, take the values and add a hidden field for a PAYPAL shopping cart. My problem is that for some reason, the variable "curitem" is not passed inside the each function and I can't add the hidden field like they should. All I get is "NaN" or "undefined". What PAYPAL expect is : item_name_1, item_name_2, etc. All numbers must iterate by +1. How can I do this?     Hi all, I have downloaded the PHP class from github which is the wrapper for their Open Graph API. I can log in and list freinds and images etc. But what I am really struggling with is allowing for extended permissions to allow posting to a users wall. I know somewhere I need to add "scope=publish_stream" to allow this option and can only assume it is on the getLoginUrl method but I am having next to know joy with it. Can anyone help me. Steve

    I'm running on an OS X environment and would like to create a flexible web development environment locally... including the option to run on an Nginx server for my PHP-based application. At the end of the day (or, development cycle), I'd like to be able to hit a switch and have it all sync over to Amazon AWS hosting (EC2, S3) - instances, databases, files, configurations, and all. Are there any simple ways to do this?

    We have a server solution written entirely in unmanaged Visual C++. It contains complicated methods for really heavy data processing. The whole thing contains millions lines of code, so rewritning it all in some other language is not an option. We could write some extra code or make isolated changes, but rewriting everything is out of the question. Now we'd like to put it on a cloud. Which platform do we choose - Amazon EC2 or Windows Azure - and why?

  • SVN Export while retaining permissions

    Hey all- I have some files in my SVN repository that I would like to have execute permissions. When I check them into the repository with 755 permissions and run an svn export, the resulting files have 644 permissions. There doesn't appear to be an option in "svn export" to retain the permissions. Am I missing something? Thanks- Jonathan

    how do you effectively debug on live server in rails, whether on a beta/production server? I tried modifying the file directly on the server, and restarting the app, but the changes does not seem to take effect, or takes a long time to (caching?) I also tried to do "script/server production" locally, but that is very slow The other option is to code and deploy, but that is very inefficient. Anyone has any insights as to how they do this efficiently?

    I'm conflicted between a "read once, use memory+pointers to files" and a "read when necessary" approach. The latter is of course much easier (no additional classes needed to store the whole dir structure), but IMO it is slower? A little clarification: I'm writing a simple build system, that read a project file, checks if all files are present, and runs some compile steps. The file tree is static, so the first option doesn't need to be very dynamic and only needs to be built once every time the program is run. Thanks
