• How to prevent Android bluetooth RFCOMM connection from dying immediately after .connect()?

  I'm trying to connect to a Zeemote (http://zeemote.com/) gaming controller from Moto Droid running 2.0.1 firmware. The test application below does connect to the device (LED flashes) but connection is dropped immediately after that. I can connect to the device perfectly fine using bluez tools (log attached as well). I'm quite at a loss here, I work on it for so long that I ran out of ideas so any help would be very much appreciated. • CommunicationException with 'not recognized sequence' message in WCF.

  Hello, I get a CommunicationException while using WCF service. The message is: The remote endpoint no longer recognizes this sequence. This is most likely due to an abort on the remote endpoint. The value of wsrm:Identifier is not a known Sequence identifier. The reliable session was faulted. The exception is thrown in a moment after a contract method was called. Before calling contract method the channel state is Opened. I restore my service client after catching this exception and for some time it works fine. But then this error occures again. It seems like some timeout is exceeded, but I can't understand which one exactly. I use wsHttpBinding with reliableSession enabled. The InactivityTimeout is set to half an hour and I'm sure it's not exceeded, because exception is thrown earlier.

• How to upload web.config file using WebDAV on IIS7?

  I want to copy an ASP.NET MVC website to a remote IIS 7 server using WebDAV. I have created a site in IIS, enabled WebDAV and assigned a special application pool I have named "WebDAV Application Pool". Using a Windows 7 or Vista client I'm able to mount the remote site as a network drive. So far, so good. However, I have problems uploading web.config files to the remote site. One problem is that as soon as a web.config has been uploaded it is used to configure the WebDAV site. The web.config file in a Views folder of a MVC project effectively blocks access to that folder. To work around this problem I have configured the application pool in the applicationHost.config file: <configuration> <applicationPools> <add name="WebDAV Application Pool" autoStart="true" enableConfigurationOverride="false" /> </applicationPools> </configuration> The interesting part is the 'enableConfigurationOverride` attribute: When true, indicates that delegated settings in Web.config files will processed for applications within this application pool. When false, all settings in Web.config files will be ignored for this application pool. Doing this makes it possible to upload a web.config file to the Views folder without breaking access to the folder. However, I'm still unable to upload a web.config file to the root folder. I have the following settings in the applicationHost.config file to ensure that request filtering doesn't interfere with WebDAV: <configuration> <location path="webdav.mysite.tld"> <system.webServer> <security> <requestFiltering> <fileExtensions applyToWebDAV="false" /> <verbs applyToWebDAV="false" /> <hiddenSegments applyToWebDAV="false" /> </requestFiltering> </security> </system.webServer> </location> </configuration> In particular hiddenSegments will normally block access to web.config but setting the applyToWebDAV attribute to false should ensure that this file isn't blocked when using WebDAV. Unfortunately, I'm still unable to copy my web.config file to the root folder of the site. Doing drag and drop in Windows Explorer to the mapped WebDAV network drive will result in the following error message: Error 0x80070057: The parameter is incorrect. On the wire it seems that the HTTP status 400 Bad Request is returned. Is there anything I can do to configure WebDAV on IIS 7 to avoid this problem?

• DirectShow - passing parameters to custom source push filter

  Hello, I'm working on a solution that will be used to receive video stream from remote hosts and to put various texts on the top of it. Currently it consists of custom DirectShow push filter (C++) which receives data from remote hosts using RTP protocol and tiny C# application that sets up the DirectShow graph and is used as a container for the video. I'm using DirectShowLib interop library. However, I'm not sure how to pass parameters from this C# app to my custom filter. What are possible ways to do it?

Trying to access remote server through others throws an exception: System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server --- System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: A socket operation was attempted to an unreachable network How can it be solved?

• Cannot SSH after resetting firewall on VPS

  I'm having trouble trying to SSH to my Debian 5 VPS with blacknight. It was working fine until I did the following: Logged into 'Parallels Infrastructure Manager' - Container - Firewall - Set to 'Normal Firewall settings'. It told me there was an error with the IPTables and offered the option again with a checkbox to 'reset' firewall settings, I selected this. I can see that that the default rules are been applied ( anything from anyone on any port and allowing anything to happen). • Plastic SCM vs. SVN

  I'm currently researching new source control options for a team of 10 developers. We do .net development in Visual Studio 2008. We currently use VSS for source control. We are looking for a centralized source control solution(non-distributed), with a nice Visual Studio plugin. My manager has recommended Plastic SCM and I've always heard good things about Subversion. I'm trying to decide if we should adopt Subversion or Plastic SCM. There isn't much information out there about Plastic SCM (except what they've written) and I was wondering if it would be a good solution. They make it sound as if branching is much simpler. Subversion on the other hand has a robust, mature community, and it has been thoroughly field tested. What are the pros and cons to these tools? Also are there any other tools that you could suggest? • Howto - Running Redmine on mongrel as a service on windows

  I use Redmine on Mongrel as a project manager and I use a batch file (start-redmine.bat) to start the redmine in mongrel. There are 2 issues with my setup: 1. I have a running IIS on the server that occupies the HTTP port (80) 2. The start-redmine.bat must be periodically checked to see if it's stopped after a restart that is caused by windows update service. for the first issue, I have no choice but running mongrel on a port like 3000 and for the second issue I have to create a windows service that runs automatically in the background when the windows starts; and here comes the trouble! There are at least 3 ways to run redmine as a service that I'm aware of; none of them can satisfy a performance view on this subject. you may read about them on http://stackoverflow.com/questions/877943/how-to-configure-a-rails-app-redmine-to-run-as-a-service-on-windows I tried them all. The easiest way to setup such a service is using mongrel_service approach; in 3 lines of command you're done. but the performance is significantly lower than running that batch file... Now, I wanna show you my approach: First suppose we have ruby installed into c:\ruby and we have issued the command gem install mongrel to get the mongrel gem installed into c:\ruby\bin Also, suppose we have installed the Redmine into a folder like c:\redmine; and we have ruby's path (i.e. c:\ruby\bin) in our PATH environment variable. Now Download and install the Windows NT Resource Kit Tools from microsoft website. Open the command-line tool that comes with the Resource Kit (from start menu). Use instsrv to install a dummy service called Redmine using the following command: "[path-to-instsrv.exe]\instsrv" Redmine "[path-to-srvany.exe]\srvany.exe" in my case (which is the default case) it was something like this: "C:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools\instsrv" Redmine "C:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools\srvany.exe" Now create the batch file. Open a notepad and paste these instructions into it and then save it as "c:\redmine\start-redmine.bat" @echo off cd c:\redmine\ mongrel_rails start -a 0.0.0.0 -p 3000 -e production Now we need to configure that dummy service we had created before. WATCH OUT WHAT YOU'RE DOING FROM HERE ON, OR YOU MAY CORRUPT YOUR WINDOWS. To configure that service, open windows registry editor (Start - Run - regedit) and navigate to this node: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Redmine Right-Click on "Redmine" node and using the context menu, create a new key called Parameters (New - Key) Right-Click on "Parameters" and create a String Value property called Application. Do this again and create another String Value called AppParameters. Now Double-click on "Application" and put cmd.exe into "Value data" section.   My impression is that standard Delphi uses the Win32 API. Recently Microsoft has been communicating a problem regarding ATL that requires application developers to rebuild ATL-using applications after installing an update on their machines. Will this practice be the general case also for Delphi developers, or are they in the clear with the exception of Delphi code using third party ATL COM objects? • Comparison of the multiprocessing module and pyro?

  I use pyro for basic management of parallel jobs on a compute cluster. I just moved to a cluster where I will be responsible for using all the cores on each compute node. (On previous clusters, each core has been a separate node.) The python multiprocessing module seems like a good fit for this. I notice it can also be used for remote-process communication. If anyone has used both frameworks for remote-process communication, I'd be grateful to hear how they stack up against each other. The obvious benefit of the multiprocessing module is that it's built-in from 2.6. Apart from that, it's hard for me to tell which is better.

• .NET Build Process

  All I am looking for the best free set of tools to be used in a MS Based build process. Checkout, Build, Package, Test, Deploy, etc. I know this question has been asked before but it was over 2 years ago, and in our world that is an eternity. I am looking to develop a pattern that is easily adapted to similar projects. Almost like a template/cookie cutter system. I am currently looking into using CruiseControl, Powershell, MSBuild suite of tools. If we choose to move to 4.0 will we have issues? Are there better alternatives? Limitations ? Or will these pretty much meet my needs. One piece that i am never happy with is the process of packaging. We actually have opted in the past to just use Visual Studio Deployment Projects but those are very* ancient and my fear is WIX will be too complicated for the people implementing it.

• Why is XHTML1.1 dated *before* XHTML1.0 ? What is the preferred XHTML today?

  I'm not clear on the status of XHTML - v1.0 and v1.1. Can someone explain which is preferred at this point, and why? The specs from w3c say that XHTML 1.1 predates* XHTML 1.0, which is exactly counter-intuitive, to me. http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/ - W3C Recommendation 31 May 2001 http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/ - W3C Recommentation, updated 1 August 2002 Also, I noted earlier today that the latest version of htmltidy emits XHTML 1.0, when I request xhtml. Hmmm....Even though the XHTML 1.1 spec is 9 years old, it's still not supported by mainstream tools. That suggests that XHTML 1.1 is either completely unnecessary or spurious. Which one should I use if I am authoring pages today? What if I am building tools - should I bother to support both? Or do I need only one? Thanks.

• link_to syntax with rails3 (link_to_remote) and basic javascript not working in a rails3 app?

  i am wondering if the basic link_to syntax is completely broken in current rails3 master or if i am doing some wrong syntax here. = link_to "name", nil, :onlick => "alert('Hello world!');" should actually produce an alert on click. very simple. does not work on my rails3 project! (also no error output!) any ideas? for the general link_to syntax i could not find an example where i could combine a link_to_remote with a confirmation, remote and html class (see my try below) = link_to "delete", {:action => "destroy", :remote => true, :method => :delete, :confirm => "#{a.title} wirklich L&ouml;schen?" }, :class => "trash" even the rails3 api does not help me here: http://rails3api.s3.amazonaws.com/index.html help!

Could you please suggest me any other alogrithm/tool which is language independent which could achieve Statistical word alignment for parallel English Hindi Corpora and its Evaluation, some tools languages are best for certain languages.. • which open source license to use for libraries depending on other libraries

  I develop a couple of open source projects licensed under MPL1.1. All projects depend on a lot of other open source tools. I avoid any GPL licensed libraries for the viral nature of GPL. The licenses of the libraries my tools depend on are Apache2, LGPL2, LGPL3, CPL, BSD, JSON, MIT and some personal agreements. My applications are licensed under MPL1.1 but now I want to publish some libraries. Which license is compatible with all of the above ? comfortable for the user ? My suspicion is that MPL1.1 is not that good as a library license. I'd like the libraries to be used.

  Simply put: I have a database design in my head and I now want to use Visual Studio 2010 to create a WPF application. Key is to use the VS2010 tools to take much as possible manual work out of my hands. -The database engine is SQLite -ORM probably through DBLINQ -Use of LINQ -The application can create new, empty database instances -Easily maintainable (changes in data model possible) Q- How do I start designing the database model (visually) in Visual Studio 2010? Should this be an xsd? Do I do this in a separate project? Q- Next, how can I make the most use of VS2010 code generation tools to generate a business layer? Q- I suppose the business layer will be added as a Data Source (in another project?) and from there it's a rather generic data binding solution? I tried finding clear examples of this but it's a jungle out there, the hunt for a solution is NOT converging to one clear method.... :_(
