  • kmeans based on mapreduce by python

    I am going to write a mapper and reducer for the kmeans algorithm, I think the best course of action to do is putting the distance calculator in mapper and sending to reducer with the cluster id as key and coordinates of row as value. In reducer, updating the centroids would be performed. I am writing this by python. As you know, I have to use Hadoop streaming to transfer data between STDIN and STOUT. according to my knowledge, when we print (key + "\t"+value), it will be sent to reducer. Reducer will receive data and it calculates the new centroids but when we print new centroids, I think it does not send them to mapper to calculate new clusters and it just send it to STDOUT and as you know, kmeans is a iterative program. So, my questions is whether Hadoop streaming suffers of doing iterative programs and we should employ MRJOB for iterative programs?

    I have a 2D array called "results." Each "row" array in results contains both string and integer values. I'm using this script to sort the array by any "column" on an onclick event: function sort_array(results, column, direction) { var sorted_results = results.sort(value); function value(a,b) { a = a[column]; b = b[column]; return a == b ? 0 : (a < b ? -1*direction : 1*direction) } } This works fine for the columns with strings. But it treats the columns of integers like strings instead of numbers. For example, the values 15, 1000, 200, 97 would be sorted 1000, 15, 200, 97 if "ascending" or 97, 200, 15, 1000 "descending." I've double-checked the typeof the integer values, and the script knows they're numbers. How can I get it to treat them as such?

    I'm a relative rookie at this,so please bear with me... I have 2 tables: OrderDetail and OrderMaster...both have a column named SalesOrder. OrderDetail table has multiple rows per unique SalesOrder. OrderMaster table has one row per unique SalesOrder. OrderDetail has a column named LineType. OrderMaster has a column named OrderStatus. I want to select all records from OrderDetail that have a LineType of "1" AND whose matching SalesOrder line in the OrderMaster table has a OrderStatus column value of "4". In plain English, orders with a Status 4 are open and ready to ship, LineType value of 1 means the Detail Line is a product code. How should this query be structured? It's going into VS 2008 (VB).     The situation is as follows: I have a substantial number of tables, with each a substantial number of columns. I need to deal with this old and to-be-deprecated database for a new system, and I'm looking for a way to eliminate all columns that have - apparently - never been in use. I wanna do this by filtering out all columns that have a value on any given row, leaving me with a set of columns where the value is NULL in all rows. Of course I could manually sort every column descending, but that'd take too long as I'm dealing with loads of tables and columns. I estimate it to be 400 tables with up to 50 (!) columns per table. Is there any way I can get this information from the information_schema? EDIT: Here's an example: column_a column_b column_c column_d NULL NULL NULL 1 NULL 1 NULL 1 NULL 1 NULL NULL NULL NULL NULL NULL The output should be 'column_a' and 'column_c', for being the only columns without any filled in values.

    I'm using Grid view in my asp.net page and I'm fetching data from SQL Server and placing in my grid view. Now my problem is, I'm using paging and placing 50 rows per page in Grid view. I would like to fetch top 50 rows from database in the start up and bind to the Grid View and when i click on next page, then again go to the database and fetch Second Top 50 rows and bind to GV. and this process hasto continue until last row is fetched from Database. Can you tell me How to write Query in achieving this??

  • mysql date format with changing string value

    I have a field called Timestamp, that stores its values as text as opposed to an actual Timestamp. The logging application is unchangeable, unfortunately. So table.Timestamp -> text field with format -> "Wed Mar 02 13:28:59 CDT 2011" I have been developing a query to purge all but the most recent row using this as my Timestamp selector, which is also converting the string into a date - MAX( STR_To_DATE( table.Timestamp , '%a %b %d %H:%i:%s CDT %Y' ) My query works perfectly... However, what I've found is that the string value - 'CDT' - changes between 'CDT' and 'CST' depending on whether the current time is daylight savings time or not. During daylight savings time, it logs as 'CDT', and vice versa. So all the rows that contain 'CST' get ignored when I run this - MAX( STR_To_DATE( table.Timestamp , '%a %b %d %H:%i:%s CDT %Y' ) and all the rows that contain 'CDT' get ignored when I run this - MAX( STR_To_DATE( table.Timestamp , '%a %b %d %H:%i:%s CST %Y' ) Is there a way to make it run against both string formats?

    today my problem is this i have 2 column and i wish check if the sum of that columns isn't Higher then a value(485 for example) and if is do a query...i though to do SELECT * FROM table WHERE ColumnA+ColumnB<485 But isn't working... i've already tried with SELECT Sum(ColumnA)+Sum(ColumnB) AS Total FROM table but it gives me 1 column with the sum of all rows, i instead want a row for every sum. so how can i do..? xD i hope you understood if not just ask that i try to explain it better! and thanks in advice for who want to help me! EDIT: I Found out XD the problem was that the columns was Smallint and the result of 1 or more rows was more than 32k so it wasn't working! Thanks At all!!

    How to delete a child row (on delete cascade ?) when setting a null value on a parent? Here's the db design. table A [id, b_id_1, b_id_2] table B [id, other fields...] b_id_1 and b_id_2 can be NULL if any of them is null, it means NO B records for corresponding FK (there are 2 of them) so (b_id_1,b_id_2) can be (null,null), (100, null), (null, 100_or_any_other_number) etc How in one SQL query both set b_id_1 or b_id_2 to null and delete all rows from B that have this id? What FK design should be applied to the 2 tables? what foreign keys should be added? A - B (FK_1: A.b_id_1 references B.id, FK_2: A.b_id_2 references B.id) and also B-A (FK_3: B.id references A.b_id_1, FK_4: B.id references A.b_id_2) ? But again, setting an A's b_id_1 or A's b_id_2 to null - will it remove any of B's records? I don't think so. So how to do that?

    I have a membership based website and im planning on implementing a referral system. My website is credit based, the idea is that if User X refers User Y, then User X gets 100 bonus credits. Has anybody built a referral system before and if so what obstacles should I bear in mind? I've had a snoop round SO tonight but couldn't find any suitable answers. My theory is to give each user a random string which is generated and stored in the DB when they sign up, The user will then be presented with a URL incl. that string which when they pass to somebody (User Z), User Z is then sent to a page, the page then uses the GET method to gather the Random string and update the DB Row they currently occupy, does this sound feasible or could it easily be breached?     Created One Trigger in Oracle.. SQL> CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER student_after_insert 2 AFTER INSERT 3 ON student 4 FOR EACH ROW 5 BEGIN 6 @hello.pl 9 END student_after_insert; 10 / Contents of hello.pl are:- BEGIN DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('hello world'); END; And.. the result is pretty good, as the content of hello.pl is displayed on screen while inserting a record.. Now, the query is -- When i change the content of the hello.pl file, after exiting from oracle, and then logging again, It doesn't shows the updated contents, instead it shows the previous content.. I noticed that, if i drop the trigger and create it again, then it is working fine.. Why is it happening so.. And what is the solution to this problem..

With the cod etaht i ahve tried,i am able to change teh values of teh combo boxes,but it changes for the whole column and not fro individual rows..     I have a table 'products' => ('product_id', 'name', 'description') and a table 'product_price' => ('product_price_id', 'product_id', 'price', 'date_updated') I want to perform a query something like SELECT `p`.*, `pp`.`price` FROM `products` `p` LEFT JOIN `product_price` `pp` ON `pp`.`product_id` = `p`.`product_id` GROUP BY `p`.`product_id` ORDER BY `pp`.`date_updated` DESC As you can probably guess the price changes often and I need to pull out the latest one. The trouble is I cannot work out how to order the LEFT JOINed table. I tried using some of the GROUP BY functions like MAX() but that would only pull out the column not the row. Thanks.

I would like to "merge" the 2 sets (but I cannot change the html code) because I want the thumbnails of the second set floating right after the last thumbnail of the first set. In other terms, if in the last row there are only 2 thumbnails and the last 2 columns are empty, the thumbnails of the second set should fill the empty columns of the last row of the first set.   • mysql_fetch_array() not displaying all results

    I have a database with a calendar table (each row represents one day) with 4 years of rows (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015). I use the column name calyear for the year. I use the following code to find values for distinct years then display it: $year = mysql_query("SELECT DISTINCT calyear FROM calendar"); while($yeararray = mysql_fetch_array($year)) { echo($yeararray['calyear']."<br />"); } The problem is it only displays the years 2013, 2014, 2015 even though when I use echo(mysql_num_rows($year); it displays the value 4 which I take to mean all 4 years are there. I'm not quite sure where I'm going wrong with this.

    I've got such query: $sql = "UPDATE test_accs SET acc_owner = '$owner_id', acc_policy_version = '$version', acc_policy_last_update = '$approved', acc_policy_next_update = '$renewed' WHERE acc_id = '1'"; Now, all of these values on the web folmular are optional, one can set one of these values, two, or so. Now, after I submit the form, it goes in the query like that: UPDATE test_accs SET acc_owner = '2', acc_policy_version = '1.2', acc_policy_last_update = '2012-12-19', acc_policy_next_update = '2012-12-18' WHERE acc_id = '1' It works only when I submit all values from the form. Can you please show me how could it work even if not all the values has been sent, just for example one of them? When I set one value (f.ex. policy version), it looks like that: UPDATE test_accs SET acc_owner = '', acc_policy_version = '1.2', acc_policy_last_update = '', acc_policy_next_update = '' WHERE acc_id = '1' and it isn't working. It might be possible cause of the acc_owner table values? #1366 - Incorrect integer value: '' for column 'acc_owner' at row 1 Thanks in advice.

    I have a two part question about storing day(s) of the week and time in a database. I'm using Rails 4.0, ruby 2.0.0, and postgres. I have certain events and those events have a schedule. For the event Skydiving for example, for example, I might have Tuesday and Wednesday and 3 pm. 1) Is there a way for me to store the the record for Tuesday and Wednesday in one row or do should I have two records? 2) What is the best way to store the day and time? Is there a way to store day of week and time (not datetime) or should these be separate columns? If they should be separate, how would you store day of week? I was thinking of storing them as integer values (0 for Sunday, 1 for Monday, etc) since that's how wday method for the Time class does it. Any suggestions would be super helpful. Thanks!

  • How should I set up these tables for searching?

    My PHP site is an online store with about 5k products. Products belong to a vendor, a category, and possibly a subcategory. Each of those items has a name and the products have descriptions. The search queries we've set up work wonderfully, but tend to run pretty slow. They range between 0.20s and 30s (yes 30 seconds). We've optimized like crazy and I'm starting to think we're out of room to improve on that front, so we're caching them and that's making life a lot easier. But when they run they are still killing the server, because what appears to be all of the table locking that comes with MyISAM. So on to my question: Is there a way for us to use InnoDB (row-level locking) and still maintain FULLTEXT? Should we move our DB offsite and use a service like DB2? Is there some other search engine type software we should use instead? Any help is greatly appreciated :)

Why? Is this too large? How can i fix it?     I program php, but I am trying to get into c# asp.net. In php I can make forms, custom html, etc into a seperate php file and just include it on the page that I desire. I understand asp.net has a master page which allows you to set the template for the whole website, but what If I want just a row of buttons to be on SOME pages, and not all? something separate to the master page that can be included on any page i desire? Also when its controllers is that when I use .ascx?
