  • Android GridView with ads below

    - by ktambascio
    Hi, I'm trying to integrate ads (admob) into my Android app. It's mostly working, except for one issue with the layout. My layout consists of: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/com.example.photos"> <LinearLayout android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:id="@+id/status_layout"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/cardStatus" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" /> <TextView android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="@string/hello" android:id="@+id/cardStatusText" /> </LinearLayout> <GridView android:id="@+id/imageGridView" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:padding="10dp" android:verticalSpacing="10dp" android:horizontalSpacing="10dp" android:numColumns="auto_fit" android:columnWidth="100dp" android:stretchMode="columnWidth" android:gravity="center" android:layout_below="@id/status_layout" /> <!-- Place an AdMob ad at the bottom of the screen. --> <!-- It has white text on a black background. --> <!-- The description of the surrounding context is 'Android game'. --> <com.admob.android.ads.AdView android:id="@+id/ad" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" app:backgroundColor="#000000" app:primaryTextColor="#FFFFFF" app:secondaryTextColor="#CCCCCC" app:keywords="Android Photo" /> </RelativeLayout> The ads are shown at the bottom of the screen, just as I want. However, they seem to be overlayed or drawn on top of the bottom portion of the grid view. I would like the gridview to be shorter, so that the ad can fill the bottom portion of the screen, and not hide part of the gridview. The problem is most annoying when you scroll all the way to the bottom of the gridview, and you still cannot fully see the last row items in the grid due to the ad. I'm not sure if this is the standard way that AdMob ads work. If this is the case, adding some padding to the bottom of the grid (if that's possible) would due the trick. That way the user can scroll a bit further, and see the last row in addition to the ad. I just switched from using LinearLayout to RelativeLayout after reading some similar issues with ListViews. Now my ad is along the bottom instead of above the grid, so I'm getting closer. Thoughts? -Kevin

  • Button text loses allignment after clicking

    - by breathe0
    Strange things happen. I have a 4x4 button table layout, which is the following: <TableLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_below="@+id/cerca"> <TableRow android:layout_width = "fill_parent" android:layout_height = "wrap_content"> <Button android:id = "@+id/btn1" android:layout_width = "wrap_content" android:layout_height = "wrap_content" android:layout_weight="1" android:text = "Scarica POI da server" android:onClick="downloadFromServer" /> <Button android:id = "@+id/btn2" android:layout_width = "wrap_content" android:layout_height = "wrap_content" android:layout_weight="1" android:text = "Aggiungi POI" android:onClick="goCreatePOI" /> </TableRow> <TableRow android:layout_width = "fill_parent" android:layout_height = "wrap_content"> <Button android:id = "@+id/btn3" android:layout_width = "wrap_content" android:layout_height = "wrap_content" android:layout_weight="1" android:text = "Rimuovi i POI del server" android:onClick="removeServerPOI" /> <Button android:id = "@+id/btn4" android:layout_width = "wrap_content" android:layout_height = "wrap_content" android:layout_weight="1" android:text = "Rimuovi i POI personali" android:onClick="removePersonalPOI" /> </TableRow> </TableLayout> This table layout is nested inside a relative layout, which is nested in a scrollview. Now, whenever i click on one of them, everytime the text inside the button change allignment: if before clicking was centered and displayed on two lines, after the click it loses its alignment and is displayed only in one row (cutting off some part of the text). Am I doing something wrong, or maybe it's a bug?

  • JavaNullPointerException/Layout Error when working with lists and ListView on Android

    - by psyhclo
    Hey, I'm trying to implement a ListView on Android, which will print the data retrieved from the SQLite Database. So I want to retrieve a lot of columns from the table and add this to a list, so I will print this list as a ListView. For this I created a method that will select all the columns from the table in a separate class, and I will print the ListView in a ListActivity. I want to retrieve 6 columns of the table, which is represented by the ids 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9. But it shows a lot of errors: 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): FATAL EXCEPTION: main 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): java.lang.NullPointerException 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.widget.ArrayAdapter.createViewFromResource(ArrayAdapter.java:355) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.widget.ArrayAdapter.getView(ArrayAdapter.java:323) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.widget.AbsListView.obtainView(AbsListView.java:1418) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.widget.ListView.makeAndAddView(ListView.java:1745) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.widget.ListView.fillDown(ListView.java:670) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.widget.ListView.fillFromTop(ListView.java:727) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.widget.ListView.layoutChildren(ListView.java:1598) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.widget.AbsListView.onLayout(AbsListView.java:1248) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.view.View.layout(View.java:7175) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.widget.FrameLayout.onLayout(FrameLayout.java:338) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.view.View.layout(View.java:7175) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.widget.FrameLayout.onLayout(FrameLayout.java:338) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.view.View.layout(View.java:7175) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.widget.FrameLayout.onLayout(FrameLayout.java:338) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.view.View.layout(View.java:7175) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.widget.LinearLayout.setChildFrame(LinearLayout.java:1254) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.widget.LinearLayout.layoutVertical(LinearLayout.java:1130) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.widget.LinearLayout.onLayout(LinearLayout.java:1047) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.view.View.layout(View.java:7175) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.widget.FrameLayout.onLayout(FrameLayout.java:338) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.view.View.layout(View.java:7175) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.widget.FrameLayout.onLayout(FrameLayout.java:338) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.view.View.layout(View.java:7175) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.widget.LinearLayout.setChildFrame(LinearLayout.java:1254) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.widget.LinearLayout.layoutVertical(LinearLayout.java:1130) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.widget.LinearLayout.onLayout(LinearLayout.java:1047) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.view.View.layout(View.java:7175) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.widget.FrameLayout.onLayout(FrameLayout.java:338) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.view.View.layout(View.java:7175) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.view.ViewRoot.performTraversals(ViewRoot.java:1140) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.view.ViewRoot.handleMessage(ViewRoot.java:1859) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:3647) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:507) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:839) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:597) 12-24 19:19:04.066: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(22630): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) Here is the code of the method that select the data. public List<String> selectAll() { List<String> list1 = new ArrayList<String>();   • Custom listview entry works in JB not in Gingerbread

    - by Andy
    I have a ListFragment with a custom ArrayAdapter where I am overiding getView() to provide a custom View for the list item. private class DirListAdaptor extends ArrayAdapter<DirItem> { @Override public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) { View aView = convertView; if (aView == null) { LayoutInflater vi = (LayoutInflater) getContext().getSystemService(Context.LAYOUT_INFLATER_SERVICE); // TODO: can we not access textViewResourceId? aView = vi.inflate(R.layout.dir_list_entry, parent, false); } etc... Here is the dir_list_entry.xml: <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="?android:attr/listPreferredItemHeight" android:paddingLeft="?android:attr/listPreferredItemPaddingLeft" android:paddingRight="?android:attr/listPreferredItemPaddingRight"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/dir_list_icon" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" android:layout_marginRight="6dp" android:src="@drawable/ic_launcher" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/dir_list_details" android:textAppearance="?android:attr/textAppearanceListItem" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_toRightOf="@id/dir_list_icon" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" android:layout_alignParentRight="true" android:singleLine="true" android:ellipsize="marquee" android:textSize="12sp" android:text="Details" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/dir_list_filename" android:textAppearance="?android:attr/textAppearanceListItem" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_toRightOf="@id/dir_list_icon" android:textSize="14sp" android:text="Filename"/> </RelativeLayout> The bizarre thing is this works fine on Android 4.1 emulator, but I get the following error on Android 2.3: 10-01 15:07:59.594:   • android: tablerow mixed with columns and multiline text

    - by Yang
    I am trying to have a tablelayout contains several tablerows. One of the rows contains 4 buttons, while the second row contains a very long text. However, the width of the button stretches with the text in the second row. Is there anyway to prevent this? http://img684.imageshack.us/i/tableview1.jpg/ http://img521.imageshack.us/i/tableview2.jpg/ Here is my xml file: (somehow this website is not friendly to xml file) AbsoluteLayout android:id="@+id/widget0" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" TableLayout android:id="@+id/widget28" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_x="0px" android:layout_y="10px" TableRow android:id="@+id/widget29" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="horizontal" Button android:id="@+id/widget30" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Button" Button android:id="@+id/widget31" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Button" Button android:id="@+id/widget32" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Button" Button android:id="@+id/widget33" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Button" TableRow android:id="@+id/widget35" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="horizontal" TextView android:id="@+id/widget40" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="TextViewTextViewTextViewTextViewTextViewTextView"

  • Why my button can trigger the UI to scroll and my TimerTask inside the activity can't?

    - by Spidey
    Long Story Short: a method of my activity updates and scrolls the ListView through an ArrayAdapter like it should, but a method of an internal TimerTask for polling messages (which are displayed in the ListView) updates the ListView, but don't scroll it. Why? Long Story: I have a chat activity with this layout: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:background="#fff" > <ListView android:id="@+id/messageList" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:stackFromBottom="true" android:transcriptMode="alwaysScroll" android:layout_weight="1" android:fadeScrollbars="true" /> <LinearLayout android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:gravity="center" > <EditText android:id="@+id/message" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_weight="1" /> <Button android:id="@+id/button_send" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Send" android:onClick="sendMessage" /> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout> The internal listView (with id messageList) is populated by an ArrayAdapter which inflates the XML below and replaces strings in it. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:clickable="false" android:background="#fff" android:paddingLeft="2dp" android:paddingRight="2dp" > <TextView xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/date" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:textSize="16sp" android:textColor="#00F" android:typeface="monospace" android:text="2010-10-12 12:12:03" android:gravity="left" /> <TextView xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/sender" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:textSize="16sp" android:textColor="#f84" android:text="spidey" android:gravity="right" android:textStyle="bold" /> <TextView xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/body" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:textSize="14sp" android:padding="1dp" android:gravity="left" android:layout_below="@id/date" android:text="Mensagem muito legal 123 quatro cinco seis." android:textColor="#000" /> </RelativeLayout> The problem is: in the main layout, I have a EditText for the chat message, and a Button to send the message. I have declared the adapter in the activity scope: public class ChatManager extends Activity{ private EditText et; private ListView lv; private Timestamp lastDate = null; private long campaignId; private ChatAdapter ca; private List<ChatMessage> vetMsg = new ArrayList<ChatMessage>(); private Timer chatPollingTimer; private static final int CHAT_POLLING_PERIOD = 10000; ... } So, inside sendMessage(View v), the notifyDataSetChanged() scrolls the ListView acordingly, so I can see the latest chat messages automatically: public void sendMessage(View v) { String msg = et.getText().toString(); if(msg.length() == 0){ return; } et.setText(""); String xml = ServerCom.sendAndGetChatMessages(campaignId, lastDate, msg); Vector<ChatMessage> vetNew = Chat.parse(new InputSource(new StringReader(xml))); //Pegando a última data if(!vetNew.isEmpty()){ lastDate = vetNew.lastElement().getDateSent(); //Atualizando a tela vetMsg.addAll(vetNew); ca.notifyDataSetChanged(); } } But inside my TimerTask, I can't. The ListView IS UPDATED, but it just don't scroll automatically. What am I doing wrong? private class chatPollingTask extends TimerTask { @Override public void run() { String xml; if(lastDate != null){ //Chama o Updater xml = ServerCom.getChatMessages(campaignId, lastDate); }else{ //Chama o init denovo xml = ServerCom.getChatMessages(campaignId); } Vector<ChatMessage> vetNew = Chat.parse(new InputSource(new StringReader(xml))); if(!(vetNew.isEmpty())){ //TODO: descobrir porque o chat não está rolando quando chegam novas mensagens //Descobrir também como forçar o rolamento, enquanto o bug não for corrigido. Log.d("CHAT", "New message(s) acquired!"); lastDate = vetNew.lastElement().getDateSent(); vetMsg.addAll(vetNew); ca.notifyDataSetChanged(); } } } How can I force the scroll to the bottom? I've tried using scrollTo using lv.getBottom()-lv.getHeight(), but didn't work. Is this a bug in the Android SDK? Sorry for the MASSIVE amount of code, but I guess this way the question gets pretty clear.

  • How can I force my checkbox's text to not wrap?

    - by B. Clay Shannon
    This is what my LinearLayout (horizontal) row looks like: I want the text of the checkbox to be on one line; The buttons don't have to be that wide - they'll still have plenty of space with the checkbox text lengthened a bit. What in my XML: <LinearLayout android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="horizontal"> <CheckBox android:id="@+id/ckbxAllow_New_Items" android:layout_width="0dip" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1" android:checked="true" android:text="@string/checkbox_Allow_New_Items" /> <Button android:id="@+id/btnOK" android:layout_width="0dip" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_weight="1" android:text="@string/button_OK" /> <Button android:id="@+id/btnCancel" android:layout_width="0dip" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_weight="1" android:text="@string/button_Cancel" /> </LinearLayout> ...needs to change in order to force my checkbox text not to wrap? UPDATE Following Der Golem's suggestion by adding this: android:lines="1" ...and also changing layout_weight for the checkbox from 1 to 2 (set to 1 for the buttons) gave me what I wanted:

  • Android layout with 2 evenly spaced Buttons

    - by Rpond
    I have this layout that works correctly, a relative layout with a text view and two buttons spaced evenly below it. <RelativeLayout android:id="@+id/entrypopup" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:padding="5px" android:visibility="gone" android:layout_below="@+id/ad" android:background="#80000000"> <TextView android:id="@+id/title" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Entry Popup..." android:textColor="#ffffffff" android:textSize="20sp" /> <TableLayout android:id="@+id/TableLayout01" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_below="@id/title"> <TableRow android:layout_weight="1"> <Button android:id="@+id/buttonVisit" android:text="View" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_width="0dip" android:layout_weight="1"/> <Button android:id="@+id/buttonCancel" android:text="Cancel" android:layout_width="0dip" android:layout_weight="1" android:layout_height="fill_parent"/> </TableRow> </TableLayout> </RelativeLayout> But running layoutopt it says that "this TableRow layout or its TableLayout parent is possible useless". Is there a way to do this layout then without the tables?

  • Drawing lines between views in a TableLayout

    - by RiThBo
    Firstly - sorry if you saw my other question which I deleted. My question was flawed. Here is a better version If I have two views, how do I draw a (straight) line between them when one of them is touched? The line needs to be dynamic so it can follow the finger until it reaches the second view where it "locks on". So, when view1 is touched a straight line is drawn which then follows the finger until it reaches view2. I created a LineView class that extends view, but I don't how to proceed. I read some tutorials but none show how to do this. I think I need to get the coordinates of both view, and then create a path which "updates" on MotionEvent. I can get the coordinates and the ids of the views I want to draw a line between, but the line that I try to draw between them either goes above it, or the line does not reach past the width and height of the view. Any advice/code/clarity would be much appreciated! Here is some code: My layout. I want to draw a line between two views contained in theTableLayout.# <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/activity_game_relative_layout" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:orientation="vertical" > <TableLayout android:layout_marginTop="35dp" android:layout_marginBottom="35dp" android:id="@+id/tableLayout1" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_centerInParent="true" > <TableRow android:id="@+id/table_row_1" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:padding="5dip" > <com.example.view.DotView android:id="@+id/game_dot_1" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginBottom="10dp" android:layout_marginLeft="10dp" android:layout_marginRight="10dp" android:layout_marginTop="10dp" /> <com.example.view.DotView android:id="@+id/game_dot_2" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginBottom="10dp" android:layout_marginLeft="10dp" android:layout_marginRight="10dp" android:layout_marginTop="10dp" /> <com.example.view.DotView android:id="@+id/game_dot_3" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginBottom="10dp" android:layout_marginLeft="10dp" android:layout_marginRight="10dp" android:layout_marginTop="10dp" /> </TableRow> <TableRow android:id="@+id/table_row_2" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:padding="5dip" > <com.example.view.DotView android:id="@+id/game_dot_7" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginBottom="10dp" android:layout_marginLeft="10dp" android:layout_marginRight="10dp" android:layout_marginTop="10dp" /> <com.example.view.DotView android:id="@+id/game_dot_8" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginBottom="10dp" android:layout_marginLeft="10dp" android:layout_marginRight="10dp" android:layout_marginTop="10dp" /> <com.example.dotte.DotView android:id="@+id/game_dot_9" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginBottom="10dp" android:layout_marginLeft="10dp" android:layout_marginRight="10dp" android:layout_marginTop="10dp" /> </TableRow> </TableLayout> </RelativeLayout> This is my LineView class. • How to ellipsize center-aligned textview beside a right-aligned button when screen width is small

    - by simplymoody
    ------------------------------------ | LONG_TITL... |button| | |------------------------------------| | | I have an app header which consists of the app title and a button. The button should be fixed on the right side but I want the title to be in the middle and ellipsize when the screen is too small. Problem is the title just won't ellipsize even though the button is nearly beside it. Here's what I have so far: <RelativeLayout android:id="@+id/headr" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:gravity="center"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/bar_orange" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:minHeight="40dp" android:scaleType="centerCrop" android:src="@drawable/bar_orange"/> <TextView android:id="@+id/Title" android:layout_marginLeft="20dp" android:layout_marginRight="20dp" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_centerInParent="true" android:gravity="center" android:text="@string/bcd" android:textColor="#FFFFFF" android:ellipsize="marquee" android:singleLine="true" android:textSize="18sp" android:textStyle="bold"/> <Button android:padding="5dp" android:id="@+id/home" android:textColor="#ffffff" android:layout_marginRight="10dp" android:layout_marginLeft="10dp" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_alignParentRight="true" android:layout_centerVertical="true" android:singleLine="true" android:background="@drawable/button_home" android:text="@string/home"/> </RelativeLayout> Is there a way to do this with just RelativeLayout?

When specifing the layout reference ( @layout/... ), i'm getting a InflateException in the Eclipse ADT with the following error: InflateException: You must specifiy a valid layout reference. The layout ID @layout/func_edit_simple_calculator_toolbox is not valid. the reference should be valid, as I've selected it from the the list of my other layouts and didnt type it in. I'm using android sdk v2.1 these are the layout files func_edit_simple_calculator_toolbox.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <TableLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="wrap_content"> <TableRow android:id="@+id/TableRow01" android:layout_width="wrap_content"android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <Button android:id="@+id/Button01" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="1"></Button> <Button android:id="@+id/Button02" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="2"></Button> <Button android:id="@+id/Button03" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="3"></Button> <Button android:id="@+id/Button04" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="+"></Button> </TableRow> <TableRow android:id="@+id/TableRow02" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <Button android:id="@+id/Button05" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="4"></Button> <Button android:id="@+id/Button06" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="5"></Button> <Button android:id="@+id/Button07" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="6"></Button> <Button android:id="@+id/Button08" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="-"></Button> </TableRow> </TableLayout> function_editor_layout.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" > <com.calculoid.FunctionView android:id="@+id/function_view" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"/> <include android:id="@+id/include01" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" layout="@layout/func_edit_simple_calculator_toolbox"></include> </LinearLayout> Does any one know what could be the problem? thanks in advance

  • Android Textview Italic and wrap_contents

    - by Faisal khan
    I am using 3 italic textviews with different colors <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="horizontal" android:id="@+id/submittedBy" android:paddingTop="10dip"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/subByImg" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:gravity="left" android:layout_gravity="bottom" android:src="@drawable/submitted_by_arrow"/> <TextView android:id="@+id/submitLabel" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:gravity="left" android:text="Submitted by" android:textStyle="italic" android:textSize="12sp" android:textColor="@color/gray" android:paddingLeft="5dip"/> <TextView android:id="@+id/submitName" android:textStyle="italic" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:textSize="12sp" android:textColor="@color/maroon_dark" android:paddingLeft="10dip"/> <TextView android:id="@+id/submitByDate" android:textStyle="italic" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:gravity="left" android:textSize="12sp" android:textColor="@color/gray" android:paddingLeft="10dip"/> </LinearLayout> I wonder every last character is not displaying properly specially name displayed in the middle is "Dan Buckland" and it it is missing last character looks like "Dan Bucklano" Also tell me pls how can have textview italic and bold both..

  • Android: onClick on LinearLayout with TextView and Button

    - by Terry
    I have a Fragment that uses the following XML layout: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:background="@drawable/card" android:clickable="true" android:onClick="editActions" android:orientation="vertical" > <TextView android:id="@+id/title" style="@style/CardTitle" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:duplicateParentState="true" android:text="@string/title_workstation" /> <Button android:id="@+id/factory_button_edit" style="?android:attr/buttonStyleSmall" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:duplicateParentState="true" android:text="@string/label_edit" /> </LinearLayout> As you can see, I have an onClick parameter set on LinearLayout. Now on the TextView this one is triggered correctly, and on all empty area. Just on the Button it doesn't invoke the onClick method that I set. Is this normal? What do I have to do so that the onClick method is invoked everywhere on the LinearLayout?

    - by user3641545
    I'm trying to use an image as a button. The image is an oval/circle, so when I set it as the background there's basically a black box with the image on top of it. How can I fix this? This is the fragment main xml: <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:paddingBottom="@dimen/activity_vertical_margin" android:paddingLeft="@dimen/activity_horizontal_margin" android:paddingRight="@dimen/activity_horizontal_margin" android:paddingTop="@dimen/activity_vertical_margin" tools:context="com.example.example1.MainActivity$PlaceholderFragment" > <ImageButton android:id="@+id/hardButton" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_centerHorizontal="true" android:layout_centerVertical="true" android:background="@drawable/hard_button_clickable" android:onClick="hardButton" android:text="@string/button_hard" android:textColor="#ffff00" android:textSize="50sp" /> </RelativeLayout> This is the hard button xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <selector xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> <item android:drawable="@drawable/hard_button_img" android:state_focused="true" android:state_pressed="false"/> <item android:drawable="@drawable/hard_button_img" android:state_focused="true" android:state_pressed="true"/> <item android:drawable="@drawable/hard_button_img"/> </selector> Here's the problem in the app: http://i.gyazo.com/a7f3b25341ebf4146d294df1f5660e99.png I've tried setting background to null and setting src to my image file.   • custom button: properties change, button should be redrawn

    - by Rutger
    Hi I'm developing an Android app. I have class derived from button to represent a special type of button. This special type has some properties (integers) and according to these one or more circles have to be drawn on top of the button. So I overrode the onDraw function, which looks the values up and accordingly draws the circles. But the class has a function to set new values for its properties. So new values are set but the changes are not reflected in the UI. It seems like the onDraw function is not called. When later I click the button or show a pop up message above my interface the onDraw function is called and the button is drawn correctly. So my question: when changing the properties how can I say that the button has to be redrawn? Thanks a lot!

  • Compiling OpenCV in Android NDK

    - by evident
    PLEASE SEE THE ADDITIONS AT THE BOTTOM! The first problem is solved in Linux, not under Windows and Cygwin yet, but there is a new problem. Please see below! I am currently trying to compile OpenCV for Android NDK so that I can use it in my apps. For this I tried to follow this guide: http://www.stanford.edu/~zxwang/android_opencv.html But when compiling the downloaded stuff with ndk-build I get this error: $ /cygdrive/u/flori/workspace/android-ndk-r5b/ndk-build Compile++ thumb : opencv <= cvjni.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxalloc.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxarithm.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxarray.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxcmp.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxconvert.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxcopy.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxdatastructs.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxdrawing.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxdxt.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxerror.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cximage.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxjacobieigens.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxlogic.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxlut.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxmathfuncs.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxmatmul.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxmatrix.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxmean.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxmeansdv.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxminmaxloc.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxnorm.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxouttext.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxpersistence.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxprecomp.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxrand.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxsumpixels.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxsvd.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxswitcher.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxtables.cpp Compile++ thumb : cxcore <= cxutils.cpp StaticLibrary : libstdc++.a StaticLibrary : libcxcore.a Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvaccum.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvadapthresh.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvapprox.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvcalccontrasthistogram.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvcalcimagehomography.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvcalibinit.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvcalibration.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvcamshift.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvcanny.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvcolor.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvcondens.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvcontours.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvcontourtree.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvconvhull.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvcorner.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvcornersubpix.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvderiv.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvdistransform.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvdominants.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvemd.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvfeatureselect.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvfilter.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvfloodfill.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvfundam.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvgeometry.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvhaar.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvhistogram.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvhough.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvimgwarp.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvinpaint.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvkalman.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvlinefit.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvlkpyramid.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvmatchcontours.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvmoments.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvmorph.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvmotempl.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvoptflowbm.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvoptflowhs.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvoptflowlk.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvpgh.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvposit.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvprecomp.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvpyramids.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvpyrsegmentation.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvrotcalipers.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvsamplers.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvsegmentation.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvshapedescr.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvsmooth.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvsnakes.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvstereobm.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvstereogc.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvsubdivision2d.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvsumpixels.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvsurf.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvswitcher.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvtables.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvtemplmatch.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvthresh.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvundistort.cpp Compile++ thumb : cv <= cvutils.cpp StaticLibrary : libcv.a SharedLibrary : libopencv.so U:/flori/workspace/android-ndk-r5b/toolchains/arm-linux-androideabi-4.4.3/prebui lt/windows/bin/../lib/gcc/arm-linux-androideabi/4.4.3/../../../../arm-linux-andr oideabi/bin/ld.exe: cannot find -lcxcore collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make: *** [/cygdrive/u/flori/workspace/android/testOpenCV/obj/local/armeabi/libo pencv.so] Error 1 I am trying to compile it on a Windows system and with the newest NDK version... Does anybody have an idea what this linking error means and what I can to to have it work again? Would be great if anybody could help After getting the problem to work I found that there is another way of compiling OpenCV for Android, using the current version of OpenCV (instead of the 1.1 one from above) and the modified Android NDK from crystax, which supports STL and exceptions and therefore supports the newest OpenCV Version. All information on that can be found here: http://opencv.willowgarage.com/wiki/Android There it says to download the current svn trunk and the crystax-r4 android-ndk, as well as swig, which I did. I entered the folder, created the build directory, ran cmake and then built the static libs, which seemed to work. At least it successfully ran the make-command without errors. I now wanted to build the shared libraries so I entered the android-jni folder and ran 'make' again, but got this error: % make -j4 OPENCV_CONFIG = ../build/android-opencv.mk make clean-swig &&\ mkdir -p jni/gen &&\ mkdir -p src/com/opencv/jni &&\ swig -java -c++ -package "com.opencv.jni" \ -outdir src/com/opencv/jni \ -o jni/gen/android_cv_wrap.cpp jni/android-cv.i OPENCV_CONFIG = ../build/android-opencv.mk make[1]: Entering directory `/home/florian/android-opencv-willowgarage/android/android-jni' make[1]: warning: jobserver unavailable: using -j1.   • Android: Autoscrolling HorizontalScrollView

    - by DroidIn.net
    I'm using the following code to simulate tabs and since there are more tabs that width can accommodate user can scroll left or right to make a tab button visible. It all works, however I also provide user with ability to fling between tabs by swiping finger left or right on the tab contents. Again - it works. But when I fling to the rightmost tab its corresponding button is barely visible. I want to autoscroll table inside the HorizontalScrollView so the selected tab button will be visible but when I execute HorizontalScrollView.smoothScrollTo(300, 0) nothing happens. It doen't matter how high I set first x parameter nothing will ever move (yes I do have an algorithm to calculate exact position). Here's XML code for scrolling tab buttons <HorizontalScrollView android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:background="@color/tabs_header" android:layout_height="55dip" android:scrollbars="none" android:id="@+id/tabsButtonView"> <TableLayout android:id="@+id/TableLayout01" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <TableRow android:id="@+id/TableRow01" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1" android:layout_height="0dip" android:paddingTop="5dip" android:paddingLeft="3dip"> <ImageButton android:src="@drawable/linkup_logo_small" android:id="@+id/tabBtt0" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_marginLeft="2dip" android:layout_marginRight="2dip" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:padding="5dip" android:background="@drawable/tab_selected"></ImageButton> <ImageButton android:src="@drawable/simplyhired_small" android:id="@+id/tabBtt1" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_marginLeft="2dip" android:layout_marginRight="2dip" android:padding="5dip" android:background="@drawable/tab_normal"></ImageButton> <ImageButton android:src="@drawable/indeedcom_small" android:id="@+id/tabBtt2" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:padding="5dip" android:layout_marginLeft="2dip" android:layout_marginRight="2dip" android:background="@drawable/tab_normal"></ImageButton> <ImageButton android:src="@drawable/careerbuilder_logo_small" android:id="@+id/tabBtt3" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:padding="5dip" android:layout_marginLeft="2dip" android:layout_marginRight="2dip" android:background="@drawable/tab_normal"></ImageButton> </TableRow> </TableLayout> </HorizontalScrollView>

  • How to set an EditText on top of a ListView ?

    - by Spredzy
    Hi everyone, I am trying to do an autocomplete version my way (logic, layout, etc...) , so I don't want to use the AutoCompleteTextView. My question is how to set an EditText on top of a ListView in a class inheriting from a ListAcvitivy. I tried two kinds of layout, none of them worked. First one : <EditText android:id="@+id/autocomplete_server" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginLeft="5dp" android:completionThreshold="1" android:singleLine="true"/> <ListView android:id="@id/android:list" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:background="#000000" android:layout_weight="1" android:drawSelectorOnTop="false"/> <TextView android:id="@id/android:empty" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:background="#FF0000" android:text="No data"/> This one only shows me the EditText but does not display the list Second one : <LinearLayout android:id="@id/android:list" android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:padding="5dp"> <EditText android:id="@+id/autocomplete_server" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginLeft="5dp" android:completionThreshold="1" android:singleLine="true"/> <ListView android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:background="#000000" android:layout_weight="1" android:drawSelectorOnTop="false"/> </LinearLayout> This sample gives me a : java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to start activity ComponentInfo{com.eip.core/com.eip.core.Search}: java.lang.ClassCastException: android.widget.LinearLayout Does anyone have any idea bout how to implement an EditText on top of a listView ?
